My dad has been at Brookdale Utica for a year. The staff is amazing. So caring, kind and professional. A special shout out to Ursila, the Health and Wellness Director. Every time my dad has a medical procedure she is 100% on top of everything. She coordinates with his outside caregivers and she and her staff provide the best care to him. Even the staff at Beaumont hospital was praising how thorough and professional she is. I am beyond grateful for the outstanding care the entire staff provides to my dad and the kindness, warmth and friendliness they show to our entire family. I can never thank them enough.

Updated review: I wrote a review over a year ago about Brookdale of Utica Memory Care. This is a follow-up to that. My father was at Brookdale of Utica MC for one week shy of two full years. He passed away on March 8th. I just can't tell you how grateful my family and I were to have the most compassionate people who took care of my Dad for these past two years when we could not anymore. The most amazing part was when we were still with my Dad after he passed, waiting for the funeral home to come, all of the staff came in to see him and kissed him, told him they would miss him, and had tears in their eyes. I knew that they cared about him, but the love they showed to him and our family after he passed was just incredible. If you must make the worst decision of your life to have to put a family member in a memory care facility, look no further than Brookdale of Utica. Thank you to all of you!! We had to find a place for my father to live last March. His dementia was making it too hard for him to live at home anymore. What an awful situation that was to be in, but what a Godsend it was to meet the staff at Brookdale of Utica. Right from the very beginning, they tried to accommodate my dad by getting him a hospital bed, a cushioned pad for the floor in case he fell out of bed, and they would even ask him what he wanted the chefs to make for him to eat. One thing that my family and I find truly amazing is how all of the staff who work there know all about him on any given day. They know how his day is going, what he ate that day, what his demeanor is like, etc. Most of the people who work here have been here for more than 10-15 years. They truly care about each of their residents and their families, and it shows. They even had a Veteran's Celebration complete with lots of red, white, and blue decorations, balloons, and cake. The most amazing thing about that is that my dad was the only veteran there. It was like a whole celebration in honor of him! He even said, "I was treated like a King!" So thankful for all of the staff at Brookdale of Utica Memory Care. A special thanks to Claudia, Isi, Flori, and Dorena! If you find yourself in an awful position to find memory care for a loved one, give Brookdale of Utica a call. You will be glad you did, and be able to rest knowing that your loved one is being well-cared for.

She was always kept clean, well-fed, and the Activities Director/staff did an outstanding job of keeping the residents engaged and busy! From the moment I started contacting BrookDale Senior Living I knew I made the right choice for my grandma. Sadly she only lived there for 18 days before gaining her wings but she was well taken care of. You walk in and it feels like a home. The staff greet you and continue to treat you and your loved one like family. We had different family members visit throughout the day during her stay and we were all pleased. The would talk softly to my grandma just like we would at home. The morning my grandmother passed, they brought more chairs into the room along with coffee and water as we said our good byes. Can’t thank Deanna and her team enough for bringing us comfort during the most difficult time of our lives. PS - Here’s what Deanna gifted my grandmother when she moved it. Made it feel even more like home!

For about 3 years my mom lived with me and in the middle of the summer I could see her slowing down and that soon I would need professional help. I started reading about memory care facilities and came up with four to review. By the time I got to the last place to review, Brookdale Utica, it was apparent I needed to make a decision ASAP. The decision was easy, Brookdale Utica, outshined them all by leaps and bounds!! The facility, including her room, was bright and cheery and the staff caring (always smiling), my mom loved the place. Although she did not stay for a lengthy time, her time was relaxing for her and me knowing she was in good hands. Thanks Brookdale Utica MC for taking such excellent care of my mom. Love You Guys!!!

My mom moved into Brookdale Utica Memory Care 2 months ago. It is a wonderful facility with a warm comfortable feel. The staff is very friendly, loving and caring to the residents and visitors. They take great care of my mom and are very comforting to her when she is struggling with a bad day. She has Vascular Dementia and Alzheimers. The management and care takers are very personable and have quickly become like family. I highly recommend this facility for families that are caring for a loved one who is living with Dementia-Alzheimers.

My mother did not want to go at first to assisted living. After living at Brookdale Senior Living for two months my mother likes being in the community. The staff has been FANTASTIC! They help her get ready each day. They get her involved in activities, first time in my 66 years I have seen my mother paint a picture. The staff has made it easier for her to adjust to her new life by being kind, caring, and loving. They have also helped me transition to my new life of not having to be a 24 hour care giver.

My husbands mom (Marian Evans) was at Brookdale Utica Memory care for nearly a year and a half. We were very happy with the care she received while there. Staff is amazingly loving and caring for their residents. We have become friends with the administrative ladies and staff. Family nights are fun and delish!! My grandmother lived at Brookdale AL. All the care staff were outstanding and took care of her very well. She talked a lot about John, Nsinga, and Chenita. She loved Pat, the chef as he would cook her anything she wanted and always checked to see if she was happy with her meal. Thank you to them, the hospice staff and Nurse Stacey! They did everything they could to make sure my grandmother was comfortable ‘til her last days. God bless the team at Brookdale!

My husband has been in Brookdale Utica Memory Care for over a year. He has dementia and needs specialized care. Brookdale is VERY SPECIAL. The staff is caring and wonderful with the residents. Brookdales nurse and administrative personnel keep us informed and answer any and all questions. I highly recommend Brookdale. My husband is well cared for and content. He likes the food and all the people and feels comfortable. I could not be more pleased. We are blessed!

This facility is awesome! My mother was a resident in the memory care section, she had dementia and it was a very hard decision to move her out of her home but the doctors told us it was to dangerous for her. My siblings and I searched many different facilities (even staff from near by senior residences told us to check it out) when we walked in here and saw how beautiful and home like it was, not to mention the staff attending to everyones needs, we knew our Mom would be happy! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, patient and kind. Many activities are planned daily for the residents and the food is good! I would recommend Brookdale of Utica.

My mom spent a year at Brookdale Utica Memory Care. The care she received was exceptional. Everyone there went out of their way to make mom and my whole family comfortable. It was.a difficult decision to move mom into memory care, but when we saw how happy she was we were grateful. They have so many activities, and field trips. I moved to Brookdale Utica Assisted Living in October of 2017 and it was the best decision that I ever made. The staff love me and take really good care of me. There is lots of things to do there if I choose, the food is good and I feel safe. Everyone who works there from the care staff to the Executive Director take time for me and help me if I need it. I would recommend Brookdale Utica to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved one. Brookdale is simply the best!

I am a resident at Brookdale in Utica. I have lived here for going on two years I am very happy here and feel safe! The personnel here has exceeded my expectations. They are all kind and considerate, very thoughtful. They all go above and beyond their titles to help all the residents. The chef prepares wonderful meals. The residents have a menu each day to select from. I have an eating difficulty caused by cancer and I am limited in what I can eat. The chef is very helpful and making suggestions and preparing meals that are appropriate for me. I cant say enough positive comments concerning the staff and facility at Brookdale in Utica, Michigan. I am fortunate to live here.

From the first day that I visited, I know it was the right place for him.The staff there has always been so kind and loving to him and he felt it. My father was a resident at Brookdale Utica first in their rehab building and then in the memory care unit as he showed signs of dementia. Dad could not walk but he was given therapy to keep his body moving. The caregivers were great with him. Especially with this pandemic, the whole Brookdale staff did all they could to keep the residents safe. My family was able to see dad safely with the protocol that was in place. We were always free to voice our concerns regarding his care and medical needs. The administration, nurse on staff, and assigned caregivers treated him with compassion and love, as part of their family. Holidays were celebrated and family was always invited.We were very pleased with the three years of care he received at Brookdale. Dad passed last November at the age of 91 . He was happy there which made my mother and family relieved to know

My grandma stayed at Brookdale Senior Living for over a year until just before passing. I cant say good enough things about this place. Its clean and spacious. The staff is excellent- very caring and compassionate. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a home for their self or a loved one.

EVERYONE at Brookdale cares deeply for each and every resident in the facility. Our dad was happy and very well taken care of for the 20 months he was in their memory care facility. It was a big difference from two previous homes he was at before.The personal attention that he received, the food he ate, and the communication with us was everything we could ask for. And if we asked for something out of the ordinary, they were always ready to help.I have commended Brookdale to friends of mine and highly suggest you give them a try if you are looking for a place for your loved one.

First of all I want to thank the staff at the Brookdale Utica Memory Care facility for the great care they gave to my late father Frank! If I could give this community a 10 I certainly would and the staff a 20. The staff members are companionate, caring, loving and some of the best individuals Ive ever come across!! They are angels for all they do and always with a smile. My father use to say this is a great hotel and they are all so nice to me. They always took great care of my dad making his stay there as enjoyable as they could! They also welcomed my brother and I there daily ! We could go to work knowing that dad was well looked after. The staff became our friends and still keep in contact with them today. To anyone that is considering this community for their loved ones take the next step and consider Brookdale you will not be disappointed!

My mother started in the Assisted Living facility, but then needed to be moved to the Memory Care facility.The transition was seamless, the staff in both facilities were caring, compassionate and responsive to not only my mothers needs, but also the familys needs too.The staff in the Memory Care facility treated my mother like she was their own. It literally brings tears to my eyes when I think about her experience there.I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a place of comfort and care for your loved one!

We were looking for a place for my husbands aunt and could not have been more pleased with the care she got at Brookdale Utica Assisted Living. The staff loved her as if she was their aunt and took their time with her always making sure she was comfortable especially as her hearing and her vision decreased. We really appreciated how Lesley the Resident Programs Coordinator got her involved and out of her room as when she lived at home her activity was limited. The staff really went above and beyond executing the level of care she received and the involvement of the entire team with her care and with our family was second to none. I would highly recommend Brookdale Utica Assisted Living to anyone who is looking for excellent care for their loved one.

My Mom was at Brookdale after some medical emergencies and it was decided that she just could not live by herself any longer. Every single member of the staff was great and very patient with Mom, and some days that could be difficult, to say the least. Kind, caring and compassionate is how I would describe the staff at Brookdale. One staff member in particular puts her whole heart into everything she does for the residents, that would be Doreen G., she is an excellent caregiver and you would be so at ease knowing that she is watching over your loved one. The facility itself is very clean and well appointed . The rooms are quite spacious and cleaned daily. The meals are good and they try to keep the residents happy with many different activities. If you have to make that very difficult decision for your elderly parents , I highly recommend Brookdale Utica

A few years ago my niece and nephew chose Brookdale for my sister because it was close to our home and I could visit her frequently. My sister loved it at Brookdale Utica, she received good care and the staff were very loving towards her and to me when I visited. So when I broke my hip it really was an easy decision to move to Brookdale while getting therapy and regaining my independence, and receiving the help I needed until it was time to go back home. I had many options available to me when I was able to go home - go back to my condo, move in with my niece, a different senior living community...but in truth I didnt want to be a burden on my family and I already was home! At Brookdale Utica the staff love me, I am well taken care of, and I have everything I need right here.

The friendly staff is caring. helpful, and treated Dad like family. They were always very accommodating for any requests we had to help make Dad comfortable. First off I would like to start off with the staff at Brookdale Utica memory care, were superb and I couldnt of asked for anything better. The staff was very caring to my father and he enjoyed the time that he was in memory care. Everyone there was very sympathetic to him and his extra needs in that time of need for him. They were also very supportive for me along the way. Flori, and Claudia, Isse, Alex and all the aids that were helping, were like friends to me. They all work very,very hard and deserve a huge raise. They are very good at what they do and should be paid double for their efforts in my opinion! They were really Angels for him and for me! AAA++++

My Dad has been there for a year. My Dad and family has been pleased with his care at Brookdale, Utica, MI. The staff is wonderful. If he pulls for anything they are there almost immediately. He has improved so much there. That now he can do everything for himself now and doesn't want to leave. He is happy with the Staff 100 percent. The only drawback it is pricey if you are fully dependant.

The staff have been great working with the hospice people to make sure that dad has everything he needs. This community does offer daily activities and they keep it clean. I would recommend this community.
