I don't care for this place at all, they have people living here that should not be living here, the staff needs to learn their place in the business and mind your own business when it isn't their business. They're disrespectful when they talk to you because they think they can because were seniors guess what no they can't!

Mark is great! He helped me and my mom from beginning to the end! He made the process smooth! I was even in another state working with Mark! He is very kind, friendly and just a down to earth person! When my mom got sick he personally checked on her and I greatly appreciated that! After she got back home he still checked on her and even brought food to her a couple times when they had activities going on! He's great and I will definitely recommend Baldwin Oakland.I also want to add that their ACE team is great also!

My father-in-law (Dad) had a brain aneurysm and can no longer live alone. We needed a ‘home’ to take him to directly from rehabilitation. We didn’t have much time to search, but we did look and inquire at several other places. Adding to our dilemma, Dad also took care of his sister — a senior with special needs. This meant that we needed to find a permanent residence for both of them. Finding Baldwin House Oakland was the best thing that could have ever happened to us. It is a gem! It’s always spotless/clean, which is very important to me. They have tons of activities for them to do, including a movie room, craft room, puzzle room, and lots of group activities. My aunt is a social butterfly and really enjoys the group activities. Everyone is always so kind to us. Working with their Director, Mark Chatman, has been a great blessing. He understood the strain and pressure that we were under, and he honestly did everything possible to make things easier for our family. We are forever grateful for all he did to help us. Most importantly, our Dad and aunt are very, very happy in their new home. My husband is happy for his father. We couldn’t have selected a better place for them to live.

Almost 1 year ago my family was looking for a place for our Mom to move into. We contacted and visited many places. By far the best was Baldwin House Oakland. From the start we were in contact with Mark who met with us and walked us through the entire process. He showed us many apartment options and kept looking and stayed in touch with us. Once we agreed and signed up, he personally helped with the move-in process and checked in on us, even bringing some food to help welcome us. My Mom's time there has been great and Mark continues to check in, making sure everything is perfect. If you are looking for a place for a family member or a place for yourself, I recommend contacting Baldwin House Oakland and asking for Mark.

From the initial visit to the day our moms moved to the Baldwin House almost a year ago, Mark greeted her with "Welcome home, Mrs. Adams. " We knew then that the Baldwin House was the right choice. We just wanted to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Mark and staff at the Baldwin House. Being in a different state, Mr. Mark, along with the staff, have gone above and beyond to ensure that our mothers transition was smooth and easy. Mahalo for keeping us informed.

My Mom lives there now and its a very nice place. Shes having a hard time adjusting, but I think shell be ok. One of the things that bothers me is that, when my Mom asks for something for pain, they often put her off and have her wait. That is why I didnt give American House 5 stars. Other than that, its a fantastic place!! Its absolutely beautiful, inside and out. My Moms apartment has a very nice lay-out and her new furniture looks absolutely beautiful in it!! The other residents seem truly friendly and many have complimented my Mom on how beautiful she is(my Mom will be 80 on her next birthday and she is, very beautiful!!). Most of the staff are also friendly and very polite. I always feel welcome there when I am greeted by staff members. American House offers plenty of activities for the residents to join in on. And the activities are quite varied. There seems to be something for everyone. Theres painting, card games, puzzles, movie nights, shopping. The list goes on and on. I would recommend American House Oakland to people who are looking for assisted living for themselves or a luved one.

My parents lived at American House Oakland for eight years from 2012-2020. My mother for the first four years and my father for the entire eight years. They loved everything about American House Oakland: their apartment, the staff, the meals and the social interaction with new friends. They had their ups and downs emotionally like everyone does especially those in a more restrictive setting like a senior living community. But, overall, their lives were greatly enriched during their final years of life by living at American House Oakland. My family and I spent a lot of time at American House Oakland with my parents and for various family events. We, too, thought American House Oakland was an excellent environment for my parents during their final years of life (both lived over 90 years). We can highly recommend American House Oakland to anyone looking for a new residence for their loved ones.

American House Oaklands staff goes above and beyond to care for my mother in-law. I love the how the life enrichment team makes sure there is activities that she will enjoy. The office team is also amazing, and always willing to go above and beyond. Im glad we had chosen American House Oakland. You guys have truly been a blessing in our lives.

I (Kathy) am a staff member at American House Oakland and have worked there since 2004. I have worked here that long because I really believe it is a good place for our seniors. The staff is terrific and always there to help when they are needed.It is a great place for the seniors to enjoy themselves and meet other residents. Always they have something going on to keep them busy. Trips to breakfast, Bingo at our place and other American Houses, picnics, entertainment every Friday and movie nights. Also there is crafts, ceramics and card play. It is always busy and when their family cant come to visit they know there are things to do for the residents.The staff all love the residents and the residents enjoy our staff.We all here at American House Oakland welcome you to come and visit so you can see for yourself.

I recently went in for a tour of this community for my grandmother and loved it. They are warm and welcoming. The office staff answered all of my questions and I never felt like I was asking a dumb question being that this was my first time looking for senior living. I was amazed by how the staff member who did my tour was greeted so lovingly by residents of the community while we walked the building. You could tell the staff are very good to the residents. I have heard really bad things about senior living from friends and family and always thought of cold nursing home style places before visiting this community and they completely changed my mind. I am not longer scared about moving my grandmother into senior living where she can get the help she needs since o live out of state thanks to american house.

I have been working at American House for seventeen years now and love it. The company is great to work for and it is nice to see how the company treat their residents. A great place for seniors to live and enjoy all the activities and delicious meals. Also the staff is great with the residents because we treat them like our family. A great place to be.
