Been here two days. Most of the staff are nice people but lacking in professional knowledge and the food is cold and tastes lousy. The facility is understaffed causing an hour or more to respond to the call light. After a week and some serious confrontation with management, there is some improvement, cold, soggy French fries for non ambulatory, and still very short handed, specially with trained aides. However, all the people carrying the load are really great and serious about helping those who are residents there. Of course it is not helpful that the place is going thru some major renovation.

My dad needed a short-term facility to go after an unexpected hospital stay. He needed a rehabilitation facility that would be able to help his specific needs. Elizabeth Schwartz and her team at the Oaks is absolutely, by far, the BEST rehabilitation team in Calhoun County. They are kind, patient, encouraging and most importantly the work is getting done and the results are incredible. My dad enjoyed the staff and really enjoyed the food. The oaks is in the process of remodeling and everyone was accommodating and considerate. Our family made the right choice by choosing the Oaks of Battle Creek. Thank you to everyone who took such great care of my dad!

I am a caregiver to a gentleman in his 70s, and he recently fell breaking his hip and one arm. Well we decided on The Oaks at NorthPointe Woods, and WOW Im so impressed with their performances and their beautiful and clean facility. Ive had a prior history being a treatment nurse, so I know what a well operated facility is and isnt. My gentleman arrived really not being able to do anything at all, and within days they have him moving his feet, legs and arms. His case is very serious and difficult Im just blown away at their professional services, and ALL the staff have been kind, caring and wonderful. They really go out of their way to make them feel comfortable and at home. Im also so impressed with their skills and competence. When I cant be there I trust them giving him great care, and hes someone Im very close to and protective of and theyre treating him grand. When I go in there hes clean, dry, and is always well tended too. Hes a harder case too, and I was amazed how fast hes started showing some progress with him. This place is well maintained and properly managed. The employees work well together and as team. I can tell their management guides them and cares about them, and their fine service reflects that too. Just anything that has came up they get stuff taken care of right away as fast as they can. I think this place is likely actually the best facility in town. Even their dietary department is exceptional good quality. They make them very nice meals also. They really go out of their way to treat their patients like family. Their physical therapy department why theyve been outstanding. This facility does their jobs, and they care about getting these patients as well as they can. Im quite fond of them, and so happy we selected this rehab facility. I knew this mans case was a very hard one too, and they do everything they can to help these patients. Theyve even helped me as I was so worried as I wanted to make sure we made the correct choice, and we most certainly did.

My 93yo mother was in the hospital in Battle Creek for 20 days on her dismissal she needed to go to a rehab facility. The hospital gave us a rating chart that had The Oaks at the bottom of the list in all areas. When we looked at the other facilities that were rated higher I was very concerned about having my mom go to The Oaks. However, my father lives at Northpoint woods and could visit her whenever he wanted. It was closer to me to check in on her as well. So my feeling was, if we were keeping an eye on her how terrible could it be? With that being said, I can honestly say it was the best decision we could have made. The room was big and private, cheerful and clean The care was exceptional. The food was good and the therapy was excellent. Mom was able to get home in about 20 days. All said please don't use the rating chart from the hospital. The Oaks is a great place. It is bright and cheerful. They have activities going on daily. Do not be afraid to send your loved one to The Oaks.

My girlfriend had came from out of town and stopped at the Oaks. Her mom was a resident at the Oaks and unfortunately, passed away during COVID. She noticed that her phone had died and asked a young man that was working on the Oaks sign if they could help her find my new place. He went the extra mile and got his phone looked up my address and said that it was not far from where they were. He said "hold on" let me see if my charger works. Once he saw that his charger worked he told my friend to "use this and bring it back when you can." Michael Porter was the young man's name and he went over and beyond the call of duty. So this is a big "shout out to Michael Porter." We both went back to the Oaks to tell him thank you and to return his phone charger! The Creator has put it into all of us to be kind. I know that Jehovah is looking down and saying thank you to Michael.

A loved one reported their are staff that don't answer call lights. However, if and when it's answered, the requested item doesn't always come back. What are patients supposed to do if call lights aren't answered, or you get a shout out from the hall, or someone pokes a head in and they all say one of the following "I'll be right their; Just a sec hun; It'll be a minute; okay I'll be right back." Some honor these, some just forget. My loved one, and probably the rest of the facility, are fall risks. Due to waiting to long, and holding urine or stool, gets up to the bathroom alone. Sometimes this causes them to be incontinent on self and floor. Or they rush to the bathroom to prevent making a mess and avoid embarrassment. In doing so, by rushing, they can't munipulate the walker fast. One day going to bathroom alone they fell broke hip. So many preemptive medical problems had happened suddenly to patient one day, which is how they ended up in rehab for 2 weeks. They almost made it to discharge.

My father spent a few months at the oaks and although no one likes to stay in a nursing home they took very good care of him he liked all the staff and they were very helpful. They always called me to let me know of any changes to his health. Also the hospice they set us up with was great. I would like to thank them all for all their hard work.

My dad needed a rehab facility that would help him get stronger and learn how to walk again after he had his foot amputated. This was the place that helped him with all of that. AMAZING all the way around! The rehab health club is top notch and the physical therapy team is great. He loved the food options, and the dining room is beautiful. The staff knows the patient will get better with family support. All of the staff welcomed his 9 year old granddaughter and let her help him on his road to recovery. The facility is very clean and up to date. The staff was AMAZING! Nurses, aides, food services, activities, and physical therapy team all go above and beyond. They offer so many activites and special events. Your family member would never have to be bored. The Oaks rehab will always have a special place in our hearts for the kindness, support, and help they gave my dad and our whole family. When dad was discharged he said "this place is just really good! They helped me to get to this day." If you are looking for a place for your family member The Oaks is where you should start looking!

Our experience at the Oaks has been outstanding. The senior staff/management was awesome helping us navigate through the transfer from the hospital to the Oaks Rehab. The nursing staff and Aides have all been extremely communicative, friendly, and helpful. Our dad has enjoyed the food, done incredibly well with physical therapy, and has recovered his strength very quickly. We would recommend this facility to anyone with a senior parent who needs a rehab facility to transition from hospital to home.

My Mother was admitted at Bronson battle creek with a few issues. The care there got her well within 5 days. The transition between the Bronson case worker and the Oaks could not have been better. Our Mother got so weak that she needed PT. The Oaks submitted the proper insurance paperwork to medicare and Blue Cross. The PT Staff worked Miracles along with the Speech Therapist. The transition from the Oaks to home was awsome as they arranged the Primary Doctor follow up as required by Medicare. They helped arrange the in home PT. Occupation therapist and Visiting Nurse Through our Primary care network. I went from not knowing what to do in the ER room to having our Mother returned to her home in the course of 5 weeks. I told my Mother if she worked at her therapy she could go home. I wasn't sure myself if it would work for her. But with the care she recieved through it all She is home. We have been lucky enough to find a family friend care giver to move in with her as She needs someone around to help her. She smiles and laughs as is happier than she has been in awhile. I do credit the care from the ER Doctor at BC Bronson that ordered the Labs that disclosed a UTI and Low Sodium that almost killed her. And the Case workers at Bronson and the Oaks. The Care she recieved while admitted to the inhouse PT to the income care that has given us more to with our Mother. And for that I thank everyone mentioned.

The nurses and staff are great! I truley believe they care about my mom and they treat her well. My problem is the social worker, my pops passed away 5 months ago so she sent in papers to the court so i can get guardianship of my mom. Shes sent them at least 3 times that i know of, had to re sign them once too. Shes doing her part to make a difficult situation worse!
