September 1st, 2024 will mark my 6th year of living at the Avalon of Auburn Hills. It is a very nice facility. I like the large bathrooms and showers, which makes it easy to move around in my wheelchair. Having 2 closets is better than having 1! My first-floor room faces the courtyard. I enjoy watching the trees blossom. I love seeing all the plants and shrubs flowering. We have a vegetable garden, and it is my delight to watch the little plants grow into beautiful food. It is educational as well! Chantel and Toni are very active with planting and harvesting in the garden! We have a nice big watermelon growing right now! Being able to go out in the garden and pick your own fruits and vegetables, get your hands in the warm soil, is very therapeutic. Toni (Life Enrichment Director) brings us lots of beautiful flowers to arrange for the common areas, and also to put in residents rooms! The residents make the flower centerpieces for the dining room tables. 15-20 years ago I really enjoyed oil painting. Here at the Avalon painting classes/activities are offered, so I became interested again, and have done many acrylic paintings as gifts for my family since moving here. The outings to museums, restaurants, libraries, ect. are always a good time! The bible daily devotions are important to me. The Avalon offers bibles study, devotional chats and communion! There is also a small area with books, if you enjoy reading, as I do! The beauty salon is open twice a week, a great way to keep us all looking our best! Caregiving is a very important role in the lives of residents. We have some very good caretakers, medtechs, and nurses here. Caregivers are usually assigned to different floors but you do get used to the ones you see the most! The caretakers I have the most are: Asia, Mellisa, Teresa, Jill, Korea, Emily, Nicole, and Erica. They are all very good caretakers! They are here to really help the residents and put in their time to do a nice job! When I go down the hall to the mailboxes, the aroma from the popcorn machine is so lovely! You can have some popcorn and enjoy a movie in our theater! Jordan and Ken, in maintenance, keep things repaired and painted! They are always both VERY helpful! Elsie and Michelle keep a good schedule with housekeeping and keep the facility looking it's best! Cheri, the concierge at the front desk, greets everyone in a very joyful way! She is always very helpful with any questions any residents or families may have. Last but not least, are the chefs and servers. They play an important role in keeping us fed well with meals that are pleasing, as well as trying to keep up with residents diets and restrictions due to medical situations. Bracha, the Executive Director, is helpful to listen to any complaints and tries to help solve any problems!

I've been very impressed by the Activity Department at The Avalon of Auburn Hills since my mom became a resident last year. Just recently they hosted a very nice BBQ event with fun activities for visiting family members. Throughout my mom's stay, Toni the activity director has been diligent about encouraging her to participate in various activities. She has even helped her with getting groceries and various other needs. She certainly seems to go above and beyond to provide an exceptional level of service and care. We're fortunate to have Toni in Mom's life.

My mom moved into The Avalon of Auburn Hills. I know they have activities, which is a good thing for her because, at the place she was at, they didn't have activities for her to do. At The Avalon of Auburn Hills, they have three meals a day, and they assist them with bathing. My mom has a small room that has a bathroom inside of it. It's a nice decent-sized room. It's not too big for her because she doesn't need too much space, but it's a reasonable-sized space. And they have bigger options if the person needs them. What my mom has is nice for her. It's pretty spacious but not too gigantic for her. We haven't had any complaints, and I know she loves the environment there. The staff are very helpful. I would recommend them. They're very friendly. They're very communicative. I know my mom enjoys the food. I've seen the dinner that they serve, and it looks like pretty good food. It's great. I think they opened a little bit before COVID, so it's a 5 for cleanliness. It's very up-to-date. It's very clean. They keep up with everything. For activities, they had a social happy hour a couple of days ago where they had an hour with all the residents going to this nice little area to talk and such. I really can't say exactly what activities they have, but it's like different variations. And they have an option to participate or not if they want to or not, so that's pretty cool.

OMG. Im 61 and totally ready to move in there. 😉 This is a very nice facility, and we all could only hope to end up at a place like this. My fiancés mother is there, and she is perfectly comfortable and at peace. They have thought of everything here. Its well-appointed, well laid out, clean, and lovely. The staff is very loving, professional, thorough, courteous, and really put heart and soul into their jobs. I have never been so impressed with an assisted-living establishment. The quality of care at this new facility is nothing short of phenomenal. Spacious and immaculate, yet it still feels homey and welcoming. She is both professional and personal, and as I have visited my grandmother (who moved in as soon as she possibly could), I have encountered nothing less from all of the staff. My mom was one of the first residents to move into First & Main – Auburn Hills, about 11 months after breaking her hip, with numerous ‘stops along the way, including back and forth to the hospital, rehab, a kind but smelly respite care facility and an awful Assisted Living facility. While it still isnt ‘home, we FINALLY feel like she IS home. Since before Mom moved in, Deb and her team have been conscientious and caring, treating her with the respect due an older person, with all sincerity. The culture of respect Deb has sought for the F&M community is evident. When there has been a mistake made, which has been seldom, proper steps are taken to ensure no repetition. {We are all human, after all, and mistakes will happen, no matter how well people are trained or no matter how caring they are.}It is a joy to walk into F&M – from Cheris lovely smile at the front desk, to Matt, Janie, Quincy, Heather or Deb performing their jobs around the facility and greeting everyone kindly on their way, to the various aides and assistants who all seem to be pleasant and actually enjoying their jobs, and to all those good folks in the dining room, creating restaurant-quality meals. Moms previous AL facility looked clean and nice but was not well run so we know that it really is the* people* who make the place! But First & Main is also a delight to the eyes. Its classy! Mom feels good about having her friends visit her here, whether its her best friend, a couple of neighborhood ladies, her Lunch Bunch or her Red Hat group – all have been made to feel welcome, and Mom has no qualms about having them in the facility. Our family even hosted a Mothers Day luncheon here – how great to have a place where our 25+ people could gather comfortably, and Mom didnt have to leave the facility, (something which has become more of a challenge for her lately.)It was worth the wait to have Mom living here. We feel she is well cared for, whether one of our family is on site or not. Her apartment is lovely and the common areas are beautiful as well. I love the options she has, including the Bistro, the movie theater, and the chapel, as well as the outside areas. Thanks, Deb, and all the F&M family for allowing our family to feel confident in the care our precious mom is receiving there.
