Reviews of The Residence at Paine Estate
June 2026
I was here a few weeks ago visiting an old friend from college (though, unfortunately, I had the wrong address as they had moved). Regardless, the staff at the desk Grace and Michelle were extremely kind and went out of their way to help me find my way around, especially since I had no cell service at the time. J.S.N

Had a great meeting with Natasha, the Executive Director, who was very helpful and friendly. My parents connected with her almost immediately because of her calm, professional and direct demeanor. Our tour of the building was fantastic! The manor has an old-world charm, even though it has been renovated to modern standards and is clean and well-lit. The pricing that was discussed is surprisingly affordable. I and my parents can easily see a future for them at The Residence!

My sister stayed at Paine Estate for respite care following a hospital and rehab stay for a broken pelvis due to a fall. She was not ready to return home, and Paine was suggested to us. They were incredibly accommodating to her needs. The place is well maintained, spotlessly clean, and the food was delicious restaurant quality. All the staff were kind, helpful and willing to go the extra mile even when it wasn't in their job description. We both agree it was a great experience and pivotal in expediting her recovery.

My mother has been receiving outstanding care at The Residence at Paine Estate during her nearly 2 years as a resident. The community is welcoming, supportive, friendly, and kind. The staff has been exceptionally professional, communicative, and collaborative. My mother has gone through some serious medical issues, and the Paine Estate nurses and aides have been outstanding in their care of my mother. As a physician, I can attest to their outstanding clinical expertise and compassion in handling both emergent and chronic issues. Also, they have optimally communicated with me about her care. The building and grounds are beautiful and welcoming and make Paine Estate feel like the home that it is. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Paine Estate--I am very happy that she is a resident there.

Peace of Mind and Exceptional Care As a family member of a resident at Paine Estate, I can’t say enough good things about this community. From day one, the staff has been warm, compassionate, and incredibly attentive to my loved one’s needs. They treat residents with dignity and truly make it feel like home. A special thank you to Adam Chambers and Alicia Wagner for being so accommodating and supportive with our elderly parent. Your kindness and professionalism mean the world to our family. The historic estate and peaceful grounds add to the charm, but it’s the people who make the real difference. Paine Estate is a wonderful place, and we’re so grateful to have found it.

My mother was a resident for over two and a half years. I chose this facility because of the elegant ambiance, the excellent healthy food, the wide variety of interesting activities. My mother especially enjoyed interacting with the many engaging fellow residents. She got excellent care and kind attention to her emotional needs.

I have had the pleasure of entertaining the residents at the Residence at Paine Estate for a number of years. The residents are an absolute delight to play for and the staff is always very friendly. The community was recently renovated and looks wonderful. From following them on their Facebook page, I can see that the residents have vibrant and many engaging activities, entertainers, and trips. I would recommend this community to anyone looking to live there and is looking for a senior living community for their loved one!

I have been working with Alicia Wagner, Director of Sales and Marketing, for over a month while considering the right memory care facility for my husband. The Residence at Paine Estate is now my first choice, largely because Alicia has been professional, understanding, and kind, knowing this decision is not an easy one. She introduced me to the director of the memory care unit who gave me a tour and showed a strong commitment to the wellbeing of the residents in her care. On my way out, Alicia introduced me to an arriving visitor whose mother has been in the memory care unit for 1 1/2 years. Alicia left us so the visitor and I could chat. She is very positive about the quality of the care her mother receives thanks to the dedication of the memory care staff.

I am a classical pianist/sing-along guy and perform at facilities throughout Massachusetts with my Golden Retriever. I have to say that this is one of the nicest venues that I have performed in in the past 15 years (not to mention the fact that they have a wonderful, rare, Mason & Hamlin piano). Warm, inviting, and staffed with caring, compassionate people. I love this place!

I recently visited the Paine estate on behalf of my aging parents. It is close to where I live which would make visiting easy. The estate is a unique and special place, different from other communities. I loved that it is situated on conservation land and tucked away in a residential area. My visit with Alicia was so helpful. She was caring, compassionate and understanding. She was easy to connect with and answered all my questions. We had a great tour around the newly renovated estate. The apartments are lovely, each with its own unique character and detail which set it apart from other places. It feels like a home within a community. Beyond that, the residents seemed happy and welcoming. On the day that I visited they were making their own flower arrangements. A very special place. -Carolyn

I am a jazz musician (Alto & Soprano Saxes & Clarinet) and feel so privileged to be a regular musician at this timeless and beautiful home where I have been playing for the last 8 + years: I feel truly honored and count it a privilege every time I am invited back by Iva and Rachel to play for the dear folks who reside there: it’s such a joy and a great reward seeing these precious souls singing along and clapping hands to their favorite songs from the Great American Song Book, the Standards made famous by Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, the Gershwins, Cole Porter and so many more: their eyes light up, their hearts are lifted and I truly appreciate the staff at Paine Estates for caring so deeply for the residents that they go out of their way to ensure even the little things that matter, are maximized to bring them happiness, security and a sense of well-being: it never ceases to amaze me just how much everyone at The Residence at Paine Estates, greets you with a warm and friendly smile: all are polite, courteous, friendly, professional and nothing is too much trouble: the newly designed decor and innovate styles used in the home has added to the existing warmth and ambience created in every room and it speaks of elegance, class and is most exquisite: there is a level of excellence rarely found these days and yet it can be seen and felt throughout the Residence at Paine Estates thanks to the compassionately motivated and caring staff: there is a feel good’ factor, a good feeling’ when one walks through those doors and it’s there because everyone genuinely cares. Thank you, to all at The Residence at Paine Estates for bringing much love and joy to all.

My 95 year old mother moved into this facility back in September and couldn't be more pleased with the community at the Paine Estate. The mansion was recently acquired by LCB living and has undergone a complete refurbishment and cosmetic makeover which makes it a very attractive and well run place to live. The staff are also top notch and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate the needs of residents and their families. I would recommend it highly.

My recent experience at The Residence at Paine Estate has been pleasant. From the staff and community brings a breath of fresh air. The upgrades and Maintance they have done with the recent renovations show craftsmanship and updated to modern standards. The rooms range from a variety of sizes to serve all residences needs! Highly recommend if you are looking for a new home and community to join.

I’ve been performing at Residence Paine Estate for over 3 years. This is a very unique home and recently beautified with renovations. It feels like a large mansion with a lovely lobby leading to a brightly lit dining area and outdoor patio. The music room is intimate and the sound is enhanced due to an antique Mason & Hamlin--one of my favorite pianos out of over 150 I play at various homes throughout Massachusetts. Residents and staff are welcoming and kind. It's clear they enjoy living and working here as do I!

My name is Steve King and I am an entertainer who has been performing at the Residence at Paine Estate for several years. Speaking with the residents, they have told me that they receive excellent care and treatment. It has been and is a pleasure for me to perform for both the assisted and memory care groups. They always seem to be in both a good mood and frame of mind. Lastly, Paine Estate has recently undergone a major renovation, making it an even better place to live and visit.

My mother recently passed away at Paine Estate in a room that shortly thereafter was deemed uninhabitable by the local Board of Health. Then, six days AFTER she passed away Paine Estate had the audacity to withdraw more than $7000 from her bank account without authorization. The Acting Executive Director justified raiding the account by saying that they were entitled to collect rent, fees, and expenses for a month after each Resident's death (in effect, it appears, they levy their own death tax)! I am not sure how it's possible to charge a dead person for a room, meals, services, etc. that they obviously cannot utilize. It's too late for us, but please take such conditions and behavior into account when you are considering where your loved ones should live.

In Fall, 2022, and after investigating other facilities we moved my 99 year old Mom from NY to the Memory Care unit at Paine Estate in Wayland. Since the new management by LCB, we could not be more pleased with the care that she gets. The staff, led by Iva and Susan and Charlene is incredible - creative, loving, smart, experienced and responsive. They consider the small group that they care for a family and respect the unique individuality of each resident. The food is excellent and something to look forward to. Field trips respect the ability of each member. there are excellent connections to medical care and when needed, hospice care. the facility is clean, beautiful and connected to a lovely garden. Activities - concerts, art, sing alongs are popular but optional, too.

My father David has called Traditions his home for over a decade now. We, as his family feel extremely grateful for all the care and attention he receives on a daily basis from the amazing staff. As a non-verbal, wheel-chair bound resident David presents challenges to those trying to understanding his needs and address his concerns. However the staff at Traditions are patient and diligent and the communication of these concerns with resident care, nursing and the front desk is exceptional. They were also extraordinary through COVID times, continually adjusting in order to protect the community and communicate with families. All in a warm setting with a great dining and social events. Would highly recommend to anyone considering Traditions for their loved one.

For the past 3 1/2 years, Traditions has been a welcoming home for my mother. They made her transition to independent living easy and enjoyable. Although she participates in fewer activities now and is receiving more support services from Tradition, it continues to be a safe and comfortable home where she has made some strong friendships. The staff has been great during the past year, in spite of the pressure the COVID-19 pandemic placed on them and on the residents. Thank you Traditions of Wayland!
April 2021
Jeff Leupold for my father, Mat Leupold I have been here at Traditions a little over two years having moved here in Jan. 2019. Born in 1924 in Jamaica NY, I have lived in Mass. all my adult life, in Wayland since 1955. A minor flooding incident in my house led to the decision to change my living situation. I had long considered Traditions as my next home. I knew the Paine Estate history. I had known former residents here, and I was conscious of the demographic, i.e. residents from similar towns. With my sons Jeff and Chris we made an appointment and visited Traditions in Nov. of 2018. I chose one of the available rooms we were shown. I was qualified for independent living status, i.e. I could take my pills by myself. My move here in Jan. 2019 went smoothly at both ends. I have a room with a kitchenette, a bedroom, a bathroom, and 3 closets. I am comfortably surrounded by things from my home. I was by myself for nearly 10 years with my late wife Lillian in a nursing home with dementia and ultimately deceased 6 years ago. Independent means I take my pills by myself, but seriously, if or when I do need assistance it will be provided to me in my apartment. Pre pandemic life was comfortable. I felt welcome by fellow residents and by staff. All were friendly, and there were activities here and away. The food was good - the day of the week couldn’t be determined by what was on the menu. Although I had been able to manage my life and house, I liked the relief from nuisance home owning responsibilities. Pandemic life here was well organized. The feeling was that we and the staff were in this together. It was a comfort to feel that we were being well cared for. Mask discipline was maintained with a sensitivity for feelings. Regular Covid testing results brought reassurance. - Mat

My mother has been a resident of Traditions of Wayland since 2015. She is now in the Reflections memory care unit. The staff is top notch and has taken such good care of her during this difficult pandemic year. The Reflections director is wonderful about keeping us updated on my mom’s activities by sending photos and emails, and patiently assisting my mom with frequent face-time calls to us. The staff is responsive and makes sure my mom has friends and engaging experiences, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. It is such a relief to know my mom is valued and well cared-for.

Reflections at Traditions is an excellent memory care facility-the staff does whatever is needed to make their residents happy and safe Thanks to Tatiana and her team
April 2021
My sister moved in to Traditions two years ago. We all loved the feeling and atmosphere of the beautiful old home. And she LOVES her room with the huge windows overlooking the back yard and the beautiful sunsets. I get to watch many of them with her on FaceTime. She is a walker and the path that goes to the river behind the home is her favorite place to walk. The staff has been wonderful and very helpful and does an amazing job of keeping Traditions Covid free. Antonio, the chef, has been especially attentive to her special dietary needs. She loves the art classes, the movies and the exercise classes. And the staff also plans great seasonal activities as well. I love to visit and look forward to coming again when it is safer to travel.
April 2021
My mother moved into the assisted living area of Traditions several years ago. The entire staff was warm, friendly and courteous as were the residents. The activities director engaged the residents in interesting projects and monthly outings to a variety of places. On occasion, musicians came in to play for and serenade the residents, which they thoroughly enjoyed. During holidays and birthdays, families were invited to join their loved ones for a delicious luncheon or dinner. My mother transitioned to memory care at Traditions after one year. The area houses 12 residents and is a more intimate space, which is ideal for people, who have dementia or Alzheimer’s. Due to the supportive staff my mother acclimated to her new home within days. The residents are kept busy during the day with various activities. Before COVID, families were invited to themed events that included entertainment and food. My mother enjoyed both. The memory care director is very hands on and is devoted to each resident. She is in regular contact with family members, which has given us the opportunity to become well acquainted. She goes above and beyond to make sure everyone’s needs are met and everything runs efficiently. The aides are very kind and competent, who take excellent care of my mother. Throughout the pandemic, families receive regular updates about the Traditions community, which are appreciated. If you are looking for a nurturing, lovely environment where your loved ones will be well cared for, Traditions of Wayland will meet your expectations.
March 2020
My mom has been at Traditions of Wayland for just over a year in an apartment in the assisted living section. The setting is idyllic, located in a renovated mansion overlooking conservation land on the Sudbury River. The staff is friendly and professional; they go out of their way to be helpful and treat the residents as family. The food is served by waitstaff in a homey and bright dining room with linen tablecloths. There are multiple daily activities including some trips outside the grounds. A lot of positive things have happened over the past year, including renovations (painting, new carpeting) and new hires. Having my mom there has provided me with peace of mind as I know she is in great hands. Overall, I am very happy with the place. If you or a friend/family member are thinking of moving to assisted living, I recommend you check Traditions out!
November 2019
Almost 15 months have passed since I wrote a very positive commentary of my mother’s experience at Traditions of Wayland. If it is possible to improve upon excellent, then I would have to again strongly endorse the staff and facility. From the friendly, warm greeting by the staff at the front desk to the very special attentive, knowledgeable, caring and helpful nursing staff, the delivery of world class service is steadfast. The Executive Director, the Activities Director, the Head of Finance, the Head of Food Service, the Head of Maintenance and the Head of Housekeeping are personable and will take the time to listen to and to resolve any concerns promptly. There are regular meetings with the residents to update them on what seem to be continuous upgrades and upkeep to this beautiful facility as well as to ask if the activities are satisfactory and what additional activities would be desirable. It is also an opportunity for the residents to provide their insights on the enhancements to the facility and to make suggestions for the future. As the primary person responsible for my mother’s care, I am at the facility a number of times a week. I am always impressed by the cleanliness, the creative activity schedule and the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. This facility is especially fortunate to have a gifted Activities Director with an outstanding, professional singing voice who provides occasional concerts which are immensely popular with the residents. Music is an important part of his program and he sings with his heart. There are also fairly frequent performances including piano concerts, choirs and singing groups. There are wonderful outings to museums, restaurants etc. They have a number of events at the facility that include the families of the residents, especially around holidays. They have frequent barbecues on the beautiful patio. The Head of Food Service is savvy about the dietary needs of the elderly and is seen regularly in the dining room asking if the meals are satisfying. I find the residents to be happy, welcoming and engaging whenever I visit. My mother is healthy, happy and loves living there. That is a strong testament to the quality lifestyle that is provided at Traditions of Wayland.
