My mom loves it here! Her memory has changed and requires full care. All the staff have been so wonderful and caring to her and our family. Artis gives you the feeling of being in a typical assisted living community with lots of activities during the day. A beautiful back yard area to relax or they can also take a walk. All this but knowing she is safe. Shout out to the caretakers in Cape Cod community they are all fantastic. Thank you for caring and helping my mom during the day and night. Shoutout to the nursing staff for taking care of her med schedule! Shout out to the activities group for having things to do. Shout out to the cooking staff for preparing all the meals. Shout out to the front desk for always being so pleasant and helpful. Shout out to the maintenance and cleaning crew for making sure the place is clean. Shout to all the office staff for being so helpful.

Artis is such a warm community of very special caregivers. Walking into the reception area, where there is always a yummy treat displayed next to the coffee and water, creates a homey and welcoming atmosphere for family and friends who are visiting their loved ones. UPDATE! My aunt is doing even better than when I first wrote review. Her quality of life is so much better at the Artis. If you want peace of mind for your loved ones send them to The Artis. They relieve any stress you would have and care about your family. I am so happy to have switched from a location in Stoneham to The Artis. My aunt is so much better. I am grateful for the staff.

Our family was very lucky to find Artist Senior Living for my mother. She was previously at another place, so I can tell you that the Artist way of caring for residents is always with respect and love. Last week as I was about to leave, one of the residents wanted to go out a locked door and I wondered how the situation would be resolved. The care giver stopped about 10 from her and just said, "Mary (not her real name) do you want a hug?" Mary immediately turned and went for the hug. I thought to myself, that is how I want my loved one to be treated, heck, that is how I want to be treated also. My mother was in another memory care in the area. We moved Mom to Artis in November of 2019. She loved it here. We were pleased with the facility. When my Mom became terminal they worked with us to allow her to live out her final days here. During those last days everyone was amazing in offering support in any way they could to myself, my family and my mother. Many took the time to come in and see her in her last days, which was very kind of them. I wish we had moved her here when they first opened. Artis is dedicated to memory care and it is clear with the design of the building. The staff is given information sheets on each resident and they read them and use that to engage the residents. I loved that about Artis.

Keith Snyder, the concierge of Artis Senior Living Reading welcomed my mother and by association me, from the very beginning and every day since. A bright light, he also visits the community within, so he has gotten to know my mother just as he has gotten to know me each time I visit or take her out. His empathy and compassion, as well as friendly professionalism and knowledge, go a long way to making visiting a more fun experience. His thoughtful candor creates trust. We recently took my mother-in-law out to lunch for her birthday. While waiting for her lunch to be served she began dancing in her seat to the music in the restaurant. Dancing and music are two of the many group activities provided by Artis Senior Living of Reading where she lives. When we returned to the facility Keith Snyder Concierge surprised us by playing Happy Birthday on his harmonica to her. We appreciate Keith, Concierge Extraordinaire, as it made us so happy to experience all her joy!

When faced with the decision to place our family member in a facility, we experienced anxiety, guilt, loss. I have no doubt that I made the best decision for my sister when I placed her at Artis. The plan was to move her into my home, yet we quickly realized that she needed professional care giving, stimulation, a community of people, monitoring, a safe environment which we simply were not equipped to provide. We made the right decision to place her in Artis Reading. The managers, caregivers, nurses, concierge staff, chefs, food preparation staff, maintenance staff give their residents and family members their utmost best. A phenomenal home for those with dementia/alzheimers.

I met with Debby Small Director of Community Relations for Artis in Reading, Ma on December 27, 2023. Debby and I chatted for a while which Debby makes you feel comfortable immediately. Then we toured Artis, which was very clean, homey and had a friendly welcoming staff, making me think this is the place for my mother. I remember coming and saying to my spouse I could see my mom at Artis above any place I saw before. From the 27th of December until my mom moving on the 22nd of February some health and safety issues made it clear it was time for my mother to take this step. During those 45 days (about 1 and a half months) Debby would check in with me via text or a call and remind me they would love to see my mom at Artis, and she would make sure she is well cared for. Now 51 days (almost 2 months) since my mother moved Artis Senior Living the experience has been positive with a couple of growing pains which both Debby and Artis staff members were completely attentive. One of Debby’s hats she wears is selling to the Artis experience and what I have learned since knowing Debby is she is an active caring team member that makes the Artis experience work. During the 51 days (almost 2 months) since my mother has been there Debby and others have worked with the utmost compassion for my mother’s care and adjustments to a new environment. Debby is a truly caring person that made me more comfortable each day since my mom's first day at Artis. The team at Artis are all stars for what they do each day. I highly recommend Artis

My mother has resided at Artis for approximately two years. I have had NUMEROUS issues that never get fixed. I wish I had kept a diary. The food is horrible. Try eating their meals. See what is served for the evening snack. The activities are dismal. It feels like a nursing home. Her room is always messy, it took months to get her bathroom fan fixed, I have to constantly complain to get basic personal hygiene taken care of. She broke off a tooth and I was never notified. I spotted the front broken tooth when I went to visit. Her bathroom towel bar was set high for a standing senior. My mother is confined to a wheelchair. That took two attempts of identifying it as an issue, and then by maintenance to properly place it in her bathroom according to disability requirements. I'm never notified when she needs supplies. Now that she is in hospice at least that's one worry I can take off my plate. This is the tip of the iceberg. All of my complaints and specific examples would take to long to post in a review. I'm glad there are "happy" consumers out there with Artis. Unfortunately I am not one of them.

I cannot say enough kind words about the staff at Artis in Reading. My mother was there for only a short time, however, she was treated with the utmost respect and kindness and I’m sure dealing with dementia patients on a daily basis can’t be easy. They made us feel less worrisome when she was there knowing how well she was loved and being taken care of. Even when she was in the hospital, they visited her and brought flowers or goodies to try and brighten her days. We are so ever grateful to find such a warm, caring, and welcoming environment for taking care of her during her decline in dementia from ALL the staff at Artis. After her passing, I received the most beautiful floral arrangement that I am deeply grateful for and touched by your kindness.

My friend felt at home from the first day. The staff continues to make her feel like family, and treats her with respect and humor. After visiting several residences for our father, we chose Artis Senior Living of Reading. We found the residence to be well laid out and welcoming. To quote our father, the residence is " bright and they keep it clean". The 24/7 nursing care on site as well as the options to have Dad as a patient of Doctors Care at Home and prescription delivery, give us great peace of mind. Our father moved into Artis in mid-January of this year, one month before his 102nd birthday. We were very concerned about his adjusting to not living in his own home. However, his transition from home to senior living went very smoothly. On move in day, there was a personalized welcome sign in the lobby area and he was greeted by the whole management team and care partners. He enjoys visits from friends and family, especially his weekly visits from his granddaughter and her dog. Our father participates in daily activities such as physical exercise, memory games, and field trips. There are many special events and activities which may involve local school children, adult volunteers, guest music and dance instruction and performances. The whole staff at Artis is fully engaged with the residents and their families. The care partners' interactions with the residents show a genuine concern for their well-being. They help create an atmosphere that is light and fun but always safe. The members of the management team know each resident by name (their families’ names as well), their interests, and are often found in conversation with the residents. Artis keeps the lines of communication open with our family through personal conversations, text messages, and emails as well as offering seminars on relevant topics. Recently on his arrival back at Artis after an outside appointment, Dad commented, "Ah! Home, sweet home". Our family is glad that we found Artis Senior Living of Reading.

My Aunt moved into the Artis Senior Living facility, located in Reading Ma., a little over two months ago. I was recently interviewed by management who wanted to know my opinions and feelings concerning my aunt's care at Artis. My response was as follows: The first things you notice are obvious. Artis is specifically dedicated to memory care. The building and grounds are brand new. This bright and sunny facility is uniquely designed for the comfort and convenience of the residents and their visitors. The next thing you are aware of is that they have brought in an experienced group of care givers that are warm, friendly and professional. In the process, I have learned that Artis has a specific plan and philosophy that is being executed by a unique management team. They are a cohesive unit that work extremely well together. The most difficult thing was making the decision to move my aunt to a new home. Once the decision was made the move itself was seamless. I went in, they asked questions, I responded with a blank stare and then everything was somehow done. I had researched several facilities in the area. I moved my aunt from a facility that was "good", it was "ok". Artis was exceptional and on a different level. My aunt's condition and attitude changed immediately for the better. I toured Artis for a family member, and was blown away by the care and detail that went into the space. Everything from the layout of the facility to the color of the dishes intentionally relates to their primary goal of caring for those with memory impairment. The staff seemed so involved, caring, and attentive, and I was very impressed with how much of a community they had built already. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and truly a "home away from home" feel.

I am typically not one to make a negative comment about someone's review as i find that disrespectful. Just the same someone gave this place a "2 star" review 4 months ago. I would not have a problem with that if Artis had even been open for business 4 months ago. My Dad is their very first client the day they opened on February 6th, 2017. I am so thankful that my sister found this place for Dad. Their staff has been wonderful and it has been a great experience so far. This place is so much different than other places we have visited. It is difficult and painful when you don't know if you are doing the right thing for a loved one. Let me say this with confidence; that Artis Senior Living should at least be on everyone's "must visit" list.

Recently, my 84 year-old mother with dementia moved into Artis Senior Living in Reading and our family could not be happier with the care she has received. After her struggles at home alone, we have seen how daily care and support, nutritious and delicious meals, fun activities, and a family atmosphere have helped bring back much of the social and active mother we knew over the years. The entire team, from care partners, to nurses, to activities leaders, to chefs, to facilities director, and to administration, has all been very responsive every step of the way. In addition to caring for my mother, they have been a resource for our family, providing education and support for living with dementia and helping us find additional care professionals. The building and grounds are very attractive and well planned, with many wonderful spaces for residents and families. While each resident has a private room, there are many shared living spaces, making it more a community than a facility and families are always welcome!
