“We couldn’t be in a better place”. These are the words my parents have use to describe their experience of living at McKay Manor for many years. “Everyone is so good to us and we have everything we need.” For my parents. living at McKay is like living with extended family. The caretakers are dedicated, kind, caring and truly want the best for the residents, making sure their needs are met. The warm and inviting staff ensure that residents and visitors feel welcome. McKay Manor is about an hour from where I live. Even though I am not close, I have every confidence that my parents are well taken care of, and that I can contact anyone at McKay if needed for any reason. They have been very helpful helping me figure out how to best support my parents as they age. I would highly recommend McKay Manor. Cindy R.

Having to move my Dad out of his home of 60 years when our mother passed away is not something me or my family looked forward to doing. After being at McKay Manor for 9 months now I fine comfort in knowing we chose the right place. The facility is very nice, clean and well, kept. I feel it is a community where dad is treated as family. They have been very accommodating, caring ,and patient with dad. He had to spend a three week period away at care facility for rehab. Staff members from McKay Manor made multiple visit to the facility to see how dad was doing while he was there. I would highly recommend considering McKay Manor and their staff to care for your family member.

Great place to live life to its fullest!!! McKay is the best place for what we need. She has her independent living back and not just sitting in a little room like a mouse in a box and now she is flourishing. I can tell a big difference in her from living in "assisted living" to independent living. I highly recommend McKay especially when you're still able to do it all on your own. It’s quiet no alarms going off and it’s a great atmosphere all together!! Well let's just say also the price is so so much better for more "living" space and being able to call it home!!! All the people that work there are great,the activities, socializing, and not to mention the three meals you get everyday as well. With that being said in your own apartment you can cook, use a microwave you have the full size refrigerator and if you don't want to eat in the dining room at that time you can fix whatever you want in your room if you want. The options are there!! I'd say check it out before going to any "assisted living" this is SENIOR LIVING at its BEST!!!! Seniors don’t need to just sit in a room and stare at the same 4 walls they need to live and this is living. Living in their own apartment! It’s home!!

My Mom (95) moved into McKay Manor last December, and it has been an excellent experience. The staff couldnt be nicer and has been most helpful with all our questions and very responsive to her needs. She enjoys having other residents to talk to, and I feel that she is safe and well cared for in the midst of this horrible Covid 19 pandemic. Thanks to Jessica and Abby and all the staff who have made her feel welcome there.

My mother just finished her 2nd full year at McKay Manor and she really enjoys it! The new management is a blessing for not only my mother and the other residents, but for our family! Every time I walk through the door I am met by smiling, helpful staff and residents! The people who live there are so happy with the new management and the way things are going. The staff treat my mom like a member of their own family. During this time of Covid and craziness, the current management and staff have done a WONDERFUL job in keeping my mother safe and happy. I am truly grateful that my mother has these people to look after her. I would like to add a special 5 STAR shout to Kristi! She continues to go above and beyond to show her love and care for the residents at McKay Manor! She eases our worry and concern for our mom by her added efforts, thoughtfulness, and genuine love for everyone at McKay! I would HIGHLY recommend McKay Manor to anyone looking for a great place to live!

Naturally, when it comes to a loved one, it is a very difficult decision to make to have someone other than a family member care for our loved one. Additionally, all of the staff we have interacted with (either on the phone or in person) have been incredibly kind, compassionate and professional. Our Mother loves them all and so do we. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend McKay Manor to anyone.

I am writing this review on behalf of my mother who lives at McKay Manor (since September of 2018). She is very happy at McKay, having met new friends . . . both residents and staff. Since the new director has been on board, mom and we (her daughters) have noticed improvements in both service and management. In the past, there were too many issues with alarm buttons not being timely answered but that has improved. There were also issues with missed medication reminders . . . a service for which mom pays extra . . . this has also improved. (I believe each resident has a chart outside their apartment door to track such services, which helps the staff know what needs to be done-has been done.) While mom is not very interested in most of the social events at McKay, she has participated in a few more events since Kristi and Vance have arrived. I believe this has a lot to do with Kristi and Vances efforts to engage the residents more in the social events. Both Kristi and Vance are very professional, caring, personal, and extremely helpful. Mom also appreciates how the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to assist her. One concern is the food -- mom has repeatedly shared with us that the food is not great . . . particularly the meat (overcooked, unappetizing, tough in texture). During a recent medical appointment, moms doctor was alarmed at the fact that she had lost 9 lbs. He was very concerned she has not been eating protein . . . which makes us wonder if she is eating much of the meat. I know that mom has not brought up this concern with management because she doesnt want to get the cook in trouble but if she is not eating the meat (or enough of it), then something needs to be done about the meat preparation. (I have heard complaints about the meat from other residents over the past year or so. They describe the food as just okay or not very good. Mom told me that recently her table companion left the table without eating the food . . . because it was terrible.) All in all, I believe the new management is a huge improvement. I hope they will continue their efforts to return McKay Manor to its initial status. (Years ago, the mother of a federal judge friend of mine was a resident. He and his mother were always very impressed with McKay Manor ... said it was a classy place to live.)

I have been in McKay a dozen times, each month, for the last six months. I am always welcomed with smiling and helpful hearts by the staff. The residents are always together chatting, playing bingo, playing cards, or sitting out on the beautiful front porch. I dont eat at most of the facilities that I go into, but Chef Coop makes some of the best meals I have ever had. This is truly a place that I would put my loved one in, so they could call it home!

We joined our mother who is a resident at McKay for Thanksgiving lunch… The food was well prepared and served hot… Our compliments to Cooper the chef who not only made a delicious meal but was very friendly as well as the rest of the staff that served… It was a very enjoyable experience for our family.

Chef Coop creativity inspires a foods taste and presentation, which is hugely important to the overall dining experience. Chef Coop provided a fantastic Luncheon for the Waldron Senior Services this week the food was delivered on time, fresh and well thought out. The meal was nutritionally planned and fill us all up. A big Thank you goes out to Chef Coop and Executive director Kimberly.

My mom has been a resident for going on 2 years at McKay Manor and she loves it. She has made really good friends and stays very busy with all the activities. She loves the Sit and Be Fit exercise class they have twice a week and getting her hair done by Amy every Thursday. This is a great place for her to be! The familys interaction with all of the staff has been great, they are so professional and attentive to the residents.

Leaner beef, real mashed potato instead of instant.as a 10 year resident, I also appreciate his new ideas such as a baked potato station, a taco bar, and more use of the barbecue grill. McKay Manor has given our mother a new lease on life. She stays as active as she likes and lives independently. They offer in house salon service, and all types of live entertainment. The meals are delicious and served restaurant style. She is also able to get in house physical therapy and a podiatrist visits every few weeks. I cant say enough about this fabulous assisted living facility. The staff, facility, apartments, and amenities are 5 star!
