August 2026
It would not let me leave no stars, but that is what I give this place, -0. My 88 yr old mother had major back surgery on the 3rd of August and on the 10th of August she was transferred to Ashford Place for rehab. When my sister and Neice went to see my mother, early evening, my sisters feet stuck to the floor, the bathroom was nasty dirty, the toiletries that came over with my mother were setting in the floor and my mother was in bed. 1 week out of surgery, she was put to bed when she got there. There wasn’t even a chair in her room for her to set up in, there were no rails on the bed to use as she was shown in the hospital to log rolll over and use the bed rails to help. The only therapy for a back patient is walking but there was no one to help her get up and without a chair in her room she couldn’t even set up as she was supposed to do. When my mother left the hospital she was on 5liters of oxygen, when my sister asked how how much oxygen they had set her on the CNA said it looks like 3.5-4 and then asked my sister if she wanted her to turn it down. The second shift nurse there informed my sister that it is maintenance job to install rails on the bed, she couldn’t find moms pain medicine ( she found it later) so mom had no pain meds all day. The lady sharing a room informed my sister, Neice and mother that they had put her to bed at 6:30 the night before and she did not see anyone again until 9:00am the next morning. While they were talking to the nurse the CNA brought 2 complete strangers into my mothers room and interrupted the conversation to tell the nurse that she had visitors so the nurse stopped talking to my family to talk to her visitors. When my Neice went to fill my mothers Cryo cuff, which was on the floor with her toiletries, Mom was supposed to use this 20 minutes every 2 hrs, the CNA asked my sister what it was and if it was homemade, she had no idea how to fill it or what it was for. When my sister went to walk my Neice out she glanced in the activity room and the CNA was laying on the couch in there. I could go on and on about this horrible place and I do have pictures that I am considering sending to Rafael Sánchez with WRTV. My sister worked all morning to get my mother out of there and she is now home with home health care. I do not know how many people who have met with or talked to admissions out there, her name is [name removed], she called my sister about mom being accepted there, plus my sister knew Marci as there kids went to school together. [name removed] was just so sweet and nice on the phone and then when my sister went to talk to her about what had happened the day before, [name removed] asked if we were transferring mom some well else, my sister said yes after what had happened the night before and [name removed] turned around and just walked away from her without letting her explain why and how she was treated the night before. I think it is important to get this out because of the rehab patients that have no choice but to stay there. The lady that shared the room with mom told my sister this morning that she would give her $100 if she would get her out of there. Folks this could be your family member, you need to know this!

My father was recently admitted to Ashford Place in Shelbyville IN for the second time. Everything about this facility is great. From the nurses, administrator's, kitchen staff, and assistants are professional and always caring. Understandably this is a hard job, but they always show they care. The food they serve is great and they have a wide variety of choices. The facility is always clean and offer daily activities. Care facilities typically get a bad reputation, sometimes with good reason. During my sometimes-daily visits for months on end. I've never had anything but positive experiences. The staff, administration, and facilities should be recognized for the good care they provide.

Could NOT be happier with all the things Mom is doing! The activity enrichment director and staff had mom doing things I never thought she would do! They keep her happy and busy! I am sooooo grateful for all they do! They take her out to Karaoke, lunches, music, etc. The nurses and aides are very nice and loving also! One aide brought her dog in to see mom on her day off! Housekeeping, Food and Therapy staff are also TOP notch! Not only is mom treated as family, but so am I! Thank you Ashford for all you do!!!

A relative of mine is a resident here and it's a horrible place. She has been greatly neglected and many days isn't dressed or taken to the bathroom or fed. When a complaint is made to the director he just states "If you don't like it here, you can take her out" instead of addressing the issues. Try home health care or any other option before placing a loved one in this place.

Ashford Place is the only senior living community in Shelby County that offers a full continuum of care. Independent Living in the condo-style villas. assisted living, memory care, short-term rehab and long term care. I would not have returned to my position at Ashford Place if I didn't feel strongly that the campus and staff provide needed services for the seniors in our community. When asked if I had to would I place my parents here my answer is truthfully, yes.

Compassionate Caring TEAM serving residents!
December 2017
My mother lived in the Assisted Living section of Ashford Place for about 8 years. She did have a couple of brief stays on the medical side. She received wonderful care. The staff was very kind and loving to her. Toward the end of her life (she died at 102) she probably needed a little more help than most of the residents. The staff went out of their way to help her because they knew of her wish to stay in her "home". My mother in law is currently a resident in AL at Ashford, and she went there because of mother's positive experience . I would not hesitate to give Ashford Place a high recommendation.

I like the fact that everyone knows my loved one’s name. I am assured that everyone has her best interests at heart. My concerns are addressed in a timely and respectful way.
December 2017
Caring and kind during a difficult time. Good food and kind staff. Always received a phone call when needed. Only downfall was nurses gossiping in front of patients or around visitors
