Perfect home for my very Catholic friend who has easily made good friends and has all her needs met. I appreciate the field trips and lectures that keep her mind active, the exercise options that keep her healthy, the shuttle that she will need when she stops driving and the food that makes every meal something to anticipate. Well done! Highly recommend

This post is long overdue, as my parents moved into AV about 5 years ago in independent living, but with my mom often needing additional assistance in the healthcare center and wellness visits to the apartment. The entire team at AV has gone above and beyond to be of service in a very friendly and professional manner. They have handled protocols and communication around the pandemic in a way that instills the utmost confidence. I highly recommend the community and extend my appreciation to the team on a job well done. Thank you!

My parents lived in Independent Living at Addolorata Villa for 12 years and were very happy with their decision. The staff was friendly and accommodating.. They enjoyed forging friendships with the wonderful residents there.. Some of their favorite activities included the outdoor garden live music concerts/dinners in the summer, the bus excursions to local attractions, the music and singing provided by Jing, Edison and other entertainers, the Harper College lecture series, and the New Year Eve Party and band They elected to volunteer at Mass and serve as ambassadors for new residents. The best part of Addolorata Villa for them was its Catholic identity. They attended daily Mass every morning and Adoration in the afternoons. I highly recommend Addolorata Villa for those seeking a joyful, supportive and nurturing environment during their final years.

My mother has been at Addolorata Villa for 5 years, first in Independent Living then later in the Assisted Living side. The memory care unit at the Villa has been a godsend for my mother who has dementia. The staff is loving, gentle, and all inclusive. I am eternally grateful for the excellent service they provide!

My mom decided very quickly to move to Addolorata. The team was extremely accommodating in getting a room, and coordinating the move. They made sure she felt welcome and comfortable. Their communication has been great. It is also a great value. My mom also had extensive experience with them before moving and was very impressed. She especially loves that they have a chapel with the Real Presence and daily mass. They also have plenty of activities to keep her busy. The other residents are also friendly.

The two stars in my review are for the spiritual aspect of Addolorata Villa. My sister's mother-in-law and my mother resided at the Villa for a total of 20 years, some overlapping. AV was chosen because it was CATHOLIC. There was daily Mass in a beautiful chapel, daily Rosary, and many spiritual discussions with the resident priests. I knew two of them during this time and they were wonderful, caring priests and their presence reminded everyone that Addolorata Villa was a special, faith-filled dwelling. In doing some research for another family member who is considering assisted living, I've learned that there is no longer a resident priest. I don't even know if they have daily Mass or just watch it on television. I guess they have various priests come in for some Masses (maybe just Sunday). To me, this negates the entire premise of a so-called 'Catholic' nursing home. The loss of priests, coupled with the loss of the Servite sisters who used to run the Villa, and the administrative staff that seems to be mainly secular, have really changed the character of a very special institution. It really saddens me. I've checked with other nursing homes in the Chicago area and most do have priests employed by them. I don't understand why Addolorata Villa went this route. Its Catholic essence was its was its main draw. Faithful Catholics want priests to minister to them, not some generic pastoral care people.

4 years ago my mom, Dolores Colabuono, moved from her home town of Joliet to Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, IL. She had just turned 90 and was still very active. She drove to church each Sunday and attended many social events, but a few health problems led her to decide that it was time to sell her condo and move near me and my family. It was a very brave and selfless act. After looking at more than a few facilities, she decided that Addolorata Villa was the place for her. She felt that it wasnt so corporate. The people were caring and down to earth. She felt at home. Now Mom doesnt worry about driving - she says shes so happy not to have to drive anymore. She attends Mass every Sunday at the Villa - and even some weekdays! Thanks to everyone at Addolorata Villa for making my mom feel welcome. She loves it there and we love having her in such a warm, inviting and safe community. Sure she misses seeing her old friends, but shes made many, many new friends at the Villa. We cant recommend Addolorata Villa more highly. Its truly a special place.

I am proud to have my great aunt at Addolorata Villa. While I live further away and am unable to visit often, I am so relieved by the sense of piece my family has experienced knowing she is well taken care of, especially during Covid-19. The communication with my family has been impeccable and I know how much she enjoys the visits to her apartment for well being checks and some socialization. The chapel is stunning and she is so happy to experience mass with her peers. The campus has an impressive history and the communication has been very proactive. Id recommend this community to anyone.

My mother moved to an Assisted Living apartment at the Villa two and a half years ago at the age of 88. My family and I have been continuously impressed with all aspects of Moms care. Every staff member we have come in contact with, including the concierge, management, housekeeping, life enrichment, resident care assistants and the maintenance crew has been a delight. They go out of their way to make sure residents are lovingly and properly cared for and the words, thats not my job are never heard at the Villa. Prior to the pandemic there was a multitude of activities for Mom to enjoy, including restaurant and entertainment outings, games. gardening, happy hours etc. When the pandemic required a lockdown Villa staff got very creative in finding ways to keep residents engaged and happy. They also frequently reached out to resident family members to keep us informed of the activities planned, safety procedures, coronavirus activity, and to offer help in getting residents connected to their families via video chats. There were a small number of coronavirus cases early in the pandemic, but they were quickly contained and not allowed to spread to other areas of the Villa. I cant imagine a better place for my Mom.

My Mom is in her 97th year, and has been at The Villa for over 2 years. She started out in Independent Living in a lovely one bedroom apartment. A few months ago she moved into the Memory Lane Unit of Assisted Living as her cognitive skills continue to decline. She tells us that she loves everyone who is taking care of her and she wants for nothing which makes our life much less anxious as a result. Having a Church on the premises was very important to Mom when we looked for a place for her, and and it has been a real joy to see, and feel, the spiritual care provided by the pastoral staff at Addolorata. In addition, all other services like dining, exercise, entertainment, administrative services and social activities are wonderful. We are comforted that she continues to receive loving care from the entire staff. We definitely feel that Addolorata Villa is a perfect place for Mom. Thank you!

Cant say enough good things about Addolorata Villa Independent Living. My 97 year old mother moved there the end of last year and has flourished. She was reluctantly at first about moving from her own home to a facility but once she moved, she never regretted the decision. Addolorata Villa lets residences retain their independence while offering safety and security as well as wide variety of social activities if they choose to participate. In addition, as a Catholic the opportunity to attend mass was something that made my mother very happy. And the food is amazing. Family members who visited my mother and shared meals with her in the dining room couldnt stop raving about the food. I want to give kudos to two employees specifically. Liz S. from marketing helped us so much when we first started looking at Addolorata Villa through the contract and move in process. And Donna I. the Independent Living Coordinator was outstanding and helped us in so many ways. I highly recommend Addolorata Villa.

Our mother Mary Ziegler received outstanding care at the Villa. She first moved to assisted living, then transitioned over to "Memory Lane" over a period of five years. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are good enough, and the level of care by certain staffers is exemplary. Some staffers cared for her as if she was their mother. It was heartwarming to see. Thank you for all you do for our vulnerable family members.

My mom was blessed to have lived at Addolorata Villa for 5 years. We began in Independent Living in a lovely apartment. My mom was independent at that time, but we had the assurance that someone was always looking after her when we could not be there. There were also many services that were available to us as we began to need them. Her doctor visits were right there, the dentist, podiatrist, physical therapy, hearing tests, healthcare aides to help as needed. This was very convenient for our family. There were bus trips to the grocery stores, and other local stores and outings. There were always activities that my mom could attend if she wished. We eventually progressed to assisted living and then sheltered care. There was no need for my mom to leave the community she had grown to love as she became less able. Addolorata Villa had all the services she needed. The staff is completely amazing. In all the years we were there, in all the different sections of the campus, I never encountered anyone who was not happy to be working there and everyone was so helpful to all the residents. My mom received the best care right up to the end. I could not have asked for any more. This is truly a wonderful place. I am so thankful we found it and were able to have my mom live there for the last years of her life.

My Mom lived at The Villa for 20 years, moving from the Detroit area into independent living when she was 80 years old. Right away, she was welcomed, enjoying many activities and loving the faith community (beautiful chapel). She resided also in assisted living and in nursing/health care where she passed away at 101. The staff is outstanding - very caring and kind, attentive and professional. They were terrific to my Mom - she truly felt loved, safe and cared for. In addition, they were very supportive of me - compassionate and understanding of the challenges of caring for an aging parent. From the very top administrators, the nursing staff, activity directors, social workers, dietitians, pastoral care, physical therapists and business office - they are an exceptional bunch. They make Addolorata Villa a very special place.

Dad was 89 and Mom was 87 when they moved into Independent Living at Addolorata Villa. After 3 years, they moved to Assisted Living. Sadly, Dad was there only a brief time when we had to move him to the Nursing Home (Health Care) and he recently passed away at age 94. Mom continues to reside in Assisted Living. We family members are regular visitors (at lease 3 times a week) and have been so thankful for what we observe on a daily basis! The staff is warm, friendly, compassionate and responsive. Each resident is respected and treated as an individual with unique needs. The different areas are clean, well-maintained, and comfortable for residents and visitors. Programs and activities are stimulating, uplifting and suited to a variety of interests and needs. And - big thing - the residents are social and welcoming, always talking and smiling as they share their daily experiences together. This was the right place for Mom and Dad, and we are so grateful!

As her health declined, Mom transitioned through multiple care levels at the Villa. In each environment, she received loving, patient and exemplary care. The support provided by Villa staff buoyed Mom throughout her illness, and extended to our entire family. The strength and commitment of the Villa community lovingly navigated Mom through her end of life journey. Highly recommended.

When my parents moved to Addolorata Villa after living in New Jersey for more than 88 years it turned out to be the beginning of a wonderful experience. From the day we walked in the door, everyone at Addolorata, staff and residents, became our new family. Not only for my parents but for my wife and me as well. My parents enjoyed the many activities-recreational, entertainment, spiritual-available to the residents. We also went through some difficult health challenges over the years but we were able to make it through with the help and encouragement from our new family at Addolorata. My parents moved through just about every area of Addolorata but no matter where they lived the facilities were excellent and they were treated with respect and friendship. Addolorata Villa is truly a special place and our family is glad that we became part of the Addolorata family.

We choose Addollorata Villa because it offered our Mother a continuum of care we believed was best. We have seen firsthand the Addolorata staff show extreme compassion to their patients and residents. They have been extremely attentive to our mother's needs and kept our family updated along the way. The spiritual environment is a comfort for her and our family. We highly recommend the community of Addolorata Villa.
