My 96 year-old mom became suddenly ill in early October. After a lengthy hospital stay, we moved her from an apartment in Deerfield to Independent living at Brookdale in Northbrook. Though on Hospice care, mom is enjoying as much of life as possible with the assistance of the Brookdale staff. Everyone and every activity is geared toward making the residents and their families feel cared for- like a big warm hug the minute you walk through the front doors. Peace of mind is what we now have with mom at Brookdale.

My mom has lived at Brookdale for two years now. She is on the assisted living floor. Last night I decided to join her for dinner there and got to see it from the inside, so to speak. First, the food was delicious! And the servers were so sweet and patient. There is staff everywhere and they all know my mom (who mainly keeps to herself, on her special spot on her sofa). This past winter I was away and she fell and broke her wrist. The staff handled the situation so well and even brought her her beloved Cokes and chocolate chip cookies while she was in a rehab facility. As soon as you walk in you sense that it's a happy, well-run place. In the two years I've been visiting I have noticed that the staff is stable; it's reassuring to see the same faces all the time. I think my dad would be happy that we found such a pleasant place for my mom. And HUGE thanks and appreciation for the crew on the second floor who provide outstanding day-to-day care with grace and love.

This is a beautiful senior living community. On my visit there, the residents seemed happy and engaged. The staff was extremely friendly, the common areas were easily accessible. My father, age 97, has been a resident in the independent living facility at the Northbrook Brookdale for 4 years. During that time my family and I have been very happy with our experiences there. My father has made many friends with other residents, and has meaningful relationships with many staff members, as well. He particularly enjoys mealtimes, and has regular groups of residents with whom he sits and socializes daily during breakfast and dinner. He also greatly enjoys the various social programs which are organized by Brookdale, especially the musical programs and holiday celebrations. As a family member, I have been most appreciative of the ongoing excellent communication by Steve and Ryan through phone and email, particularly during the COVID-19 epidemic. There is a warm and friendly family atmosphere at the Northbrook Brookdale. My father has frequent visitors, who feel warmly welcomed by the staff. I am so thankful my father is safe, healthy, and happy. I highly recommend the Northbrook Brookdale.

My parents only lived at Brookdale for only 3 years, but the care and love they received from the devoted staff made their, and their children's experience, feel like their long time home. When we left after their needs required more extensive medical care than Brookdale had to offer, we cried in the lobby with 6 members of the upper management and their long term care givers - it was so hard to leave. In responding to our families needs, they did everything possible to accomodate my parents whims and health issues. I recommend Brookdale Northbrook mostly for all the love in the halls there, and the smiles on the members of the community from the executive director down to the neighbors in the hallway you meet on your way down to dinner. It is a loving community to be part of, what more could one ask for their family members?

Since the second my mother and I walked through the doors here at Brookdale Northbrook, we met with a sensational Susie Powen in Sales and very soon after she was ready to make this life change. Susie was very responsive to my mothers needs and treated her with kindness and respect. My mother really appreciated her manner as did I. Since our Brookdale adventure has begun, I have seen her transform into a person that has a renewed zest for living. The common areas are nicely decorated and maintained with pride. My mother loves her beautiful apartment and the staff has been extremely helpful and friendly in all areas of her new environment. My mind is at ease knowing she is well taken care of. She has made friends, she is engaged and participating in a variety of activities that keep her spirits up and looking forward to the next day. My mother has been a resident at Brookdale, Northbrook, Il since last June 2022. I am so grateful to the entire staff, in particular to Ryan Springer and his wonderfully upbeat personality that he shares with this community. He is a positive force and superior role model in this position. I feel very fortunate to have my mother there under his leadership and care. Thank you Brookdale Northbrook for giving my mother a fresh start in this chapter of her life.

My parents moved into Brookdale Northbrook about 4 years ago. They lived in independent living while my dad was alive. My mom continued to live there through Covid and when she needed more help on the assisted living floor. Throughout their time they received excellent care. From the administrators Steve, Ryan and Lucy to the entire staff of caregivers, nurses and support people, everyone has been wonderful. This is a great senior community that offers a variety of activities and social opportunities. My mother, in particular, was well taken care of. I always felt she was in a safe, loving environment. I highly recommend Brookdale Northbrook.

After a fall and a very broken hip last June, it was clear that my 91 year old mother-in-law should not stay in her condominium alone. After a few months we began the discussion of making the move to an independent living facility which could provide both physical support and social environment needed. And just like most, my MIL did not want anything to do with it! In early September we convinced her to check out Brookdale Northbrook and we all met with Susan (Sales). By the end of that first visit, my MIL agreed to make the move and we put a deposit in THAT VERY DAY. Everything since then has gone well. While we started with an assisted living model, in a matter of 3 months we were able to make the change to the independent living model by working with Itszel with Brookdale at Home. There's just enough extra services provided to give my MIL what she needs (and all the kids piece of mind!) without being too much. The move in process was a pleasure, too, and we had help every step of the way. Socially, it's been a gift! While it took a few weeks to settle in, between a family social event the first month for new residents and then the deliberate efforts for community, my MIL is happy and doing better than she has in years. There's a group of her friends (my wife and I refer to them as the "high school girls"), inhouse rehab and PT, and -- the big news -- her willingness to now use the onsite beauty salon!! Thanks to Ryan, Susan, Itszel, Tina and all the others who have made her life better.

My mom was at this Brookdale location for about a year and a half. Unfortunately, she needed to move to a memory care facility. The staff is amazing with the residents. They really care about them and know everyone by name. Brookdale at home was absolutely magnificent with my mom. It is run by Itszel, who is incredible person. She communicated well, made sure my mom had wonderful caregivers, and was there for my mom if there was an issue. Her staff is also outstanding, especially Susie and Vicky. I definitely recommend Brookdale, Northbrook.

The facility is truly a residence and feels very much like a home. The facility is immaculate but not sterile. They have provided her a loving home and community that has brought her friendship, excellent care and social activities. The kind, caring, friendly and professional staff takes a very personal interest in each of the residents. The entire staff knows every resident by name and truly cares for their well being. During the COVID crisis, Brookdale has reacted quickly and professionally while still providing excellent care for the residents and staff. They have maintained a very low positivity rate and have communicated very effectively with the families of loved ones. As my mothers health started to decline, they were very proactive in working with my family to provide her with all of the services she needed to help her maintain as much independence as possible. The home health care providers , the physical therapists, occupational therapists, the nursing staff, the head of residential services, the director and assistant director and too many others to name all provided hands on care, patience and compassion that was truly unmatched and never will be forgotten. I highly recommend Brookdale North and I sing their praises every chance I get.

That was such a traumatic time for all of us however my brothers and I are so relieved that mom is safe, happy and living in a clean and professionally run facility. Mom has made a lot of friends and has recently been nominated to serve on the Resident Advisory Council! Steve Salaman, the Executive Director, and his staff have managed the Covid-19 expertly and are knowledgeable, conscientious, helpful and always available to assist the residents and their families in every way. My sister, age 78, entered the Assisted Living at Brookdale Northbrook in the fall of 2019. Unfortunately her health declined. She died in Dec. of 2020. I am a nurse and my husband a retired physician. Brookdale impressed us with their excellent staff in all their departments. While at Brookdale, we eventually utilized their Home Health Care Department and added Brookdale Personal Caregiver Services. Hospice care occurred in her apartment toward the end. We had frequent contact with the Nursing Director of Assisted Care, Lucia Nicoara, who helped coordinate the excellent care her staff gave as well as made sure other services were coordinated if necessary. Without a doubt, my sisters health care and needs were individualized and given in a very caring loving way. My sister was an avid horsewoman. Horses and the loving care of her cats were an integral part of her life. An example of Brookdales loving care, was a visit by a horse Joan knew well at the loading dock of this facility, with the help of Lucia Nicoara coordinating. This occurred despite my sisters health limitations posing challenges. We felt overwhelming gratitude for the recognition of how this contributed positively to her physical and emotional recovery at the time. Covid 19 issues were also met quickly at Brookdale. The very low positivity statistics are a testament to their concern for the safety and health of their residents. The life and care Joan had at Brookdale comforts her family with her passing. Thank you to Brookdale staff!

My dad has been living here for 8 years now and me and my sisters are especially grateful that hes been there this past year -- during the pandemic the staff has worked tirelessly to make sure the residents are well taken care of, informed, healthy, well fed, and more. Executive Director (Steve) and staff (Ryan) plan fun activities to appeal to all interests and during this pandemic have made sure that residents can keep up with things via an in-house tv channel. They even help my dad with the occasional Zoom or Facetime call 🙂 I worry a lot less about my father knowing hes living at Brookdale Northbrook!

Enthusiastically recommended! Our family member has been at this facility for 20 years, entered at age 74, is now 94. Throughout this entire period, the Brookdale team has demonstrated the highest caliber of professionalism on behalf of the residents and their family members. The physical plant is clean, cheerful, and well maintained. The apartments are nicely sized. There is a notable variety of programs and activities to keep the residents engaged and to maximize their well being, as well as numerous services (eg- transportation to medical appointments and-or shopping centers, et.al.) available. Best of all, the staff is very sensitive and responsive to the needs and requests of the residents and their family members. One can tell they aim to please and are willing to cheerfully go the extra mile. And over this past year as the elderly population has been particularly vulnerable to COVID, the conscientious, considered approach Brookdale has taken to balance the safety of its residents and associates while minimizing to the extent possible the emotional stress associated with new protocols has been exemplary. It is extraordinary that even after twenty years, we find this facility playing at the very top of its game!

Assisted living care for my sister by all staff has been excellent! Director of nursing, all staff nurses, health support aides, as well as, kitchen and housekeeping staff are empathetic and caring to her needs. Administration has followed COVID19 guidelines diligently and keeps us updated with a daily newsletter. Brookdale Home health services for PT, OT and wound care also excellent. Brookdale Companion service has been excellent too.

This has been the most amazing experience for our family. My parents settled into Brookdale in January. The staff, the other residents...all were so welcoming. And the care was superb. Cut to the COVID-19 virus. I cannot tell you how safe, cared for, protected, and comforted our parents are. Communication with residents and families is frequent and transparent.
