I would rate my mother's care there as well. Many of the staff there are good and attentive yet like in all situations there is a downside. The facility is run by a woman named [name removed]. I did not know she did at first cuz upon once when I went into her office to ask about an item missing from my mother's room she shot up from her desk charging towards me waving her arms say I don't have it!! I was upset so I asked someone to approach her about it she lied and said she didn't remember that. So time went on and one day I visited my mother and upon walking in her room I noticed a dirty diaper and gloves plus other garbage on the floor. That was not the end though cuz on the other side of the bed was a tray full of dirty dishes and liquid spilled on it. I was distressed so I went out in the hall where I saw no one. I then walked towards the back and really saw no one due to it being dark. I then heard a voice saying can I help you? I responded that my mother's room is a mess. I told her the room number me watching my distance as always. We went in and I pointed the things out saying it was unsanitary. I was sitting in the chair I was in before I left the room. Nowhere near her. The employee snapped at me and I told her not to get hostile but instead of being professional she said I am going to be to you like you are to me!!! So I then asked her name and she said None yo bizness!!! I wanted to talk to someone in charge later so I went to the front desk to ask to speak to someone but was denied. When that employee left my mother's room I did not pursue her and minded my space the entire time. I tried to call a Joni who seemed empathetic in conversation yet I could not get her. The next morning I got a conference call with [name removed], Joni and my sister who is POA for my mother. I was a bit excited when I first spoke and [name removed] just said you're scaring me David which made it evident she hadn't heard a word I said. My sister then sounded distressed as if they were going to kick my mother out. They then told me that the woman I approached said I spit in her face which was a lie and she called administration and told them I did. They let her go home which I think she wanted all along. I heard also that they almost called police to escort me out. Why? Cuz my mother's room looked like a pig stye due to the fact that the employee responsible just wanted to sit back and relax till shift change? I've worked overnight shifts before and have seen employees get riled up when they were found relaxing. Also one time when my mother thought she was struck by same employee [name removed] made a general statement saying that the seniors would agree with anything you tell them. You can't say that on everyone. I worked with developmentally delayed clients in residential and they can tell right from left like [name removed] was saying these clients can't. Overall [name removed] returned a report on me to her administration hemmed with her and her staff's lies. My mother is dying and all I want to do is try to see to it she'll go comfortablely while also me being a clients family get a speck of respect.

Brandel was the third rehab facility my sister has been in this year, and it was far and away the best. My sister actually returned to her assisted living home feeling far better than she has in the last 18 months. I attribute this to not only Brandel's good physical/occupational therapeutic staff, but to the fact that they took into account her "whole" self. Her doctor - Dr. Senno - was never hurried, always accessible and seemed truly concerned about her well being. The medical staff got her lymphedema under control which made a world of difference in reducing the pain of her neuropathy, which had been overwhelming. The dietician cared about my sister's food preferences and took care to accommodate her needs. And my sister's requests for assistance with the tasks of daily living were met promptly and with kindness. I could mention other things, but the bottom line is that, in our experience, Brandel deserves its status as one of US News & World Report's Best Rehab Centers in Illinois. In contrast to the other facilities my sister was in, I have to wonder if Brandel's ranking is partially due to the fact that it is a non-profit -- a healthcare facility where making money for investors by cutting staff and services isn't the way they operate!

My mother was in the hospital due to a serious fall & dehydration, she was placed with Brandel for about one and a half weeks, after being discharged from the hospital as she needed further care, along with some occupational and physical therapy, The staff there was very welcoming and took great care of her during her stay. Brandel is a very nice facility, my mother raves about the place, how attentive and caring the staff was, ( especially two CNA's Gloria H & Jeff S, also Pooji from therapy ), she was very happy with how great the Rehab program is & she had very few complaints about the food. We would definitely recommend this facility to everyone.

My father has been there several times and while we would rather he not need the services Brandel provides we are so grateful they are available. The staff is amazing and the things they need to do to care for people are not always pleasant. They have built a wonderful rapport caring and joking with my father. They have been very helpful and responsive to phone calls. Particularly during the Covid19 pandemic they have been creative with keeping my father happy and providing ways for us to get things to my dad. I appreciate their care and support and I know my father is happy and well cared for.

Avoid this place at all costs. They drug patients to control them. When your parent gets injured (cuts, bruises, falls) they blame the patient, and you. They manufacture co-ordinated lies among the staff. The social worker and head nurse are batshit nuts and evil. Avoid at all costs, but if you must go, take careful notes and pictures.

My father in law stayed here for a few weeks to complete physical therapy after surgery. The staff were very nice and helpful and the kitchen cooked actual decent looking food.
