My partner's mom hasn't even moved in yet and we are so excited. Tough move from FLA back to Chicago, but the team - especially Greg and Cathy - have been so helpful, available, patient, and supportive. Moving parents into a home with all the benefits - beautiful spaces, gym, saltwater pool, onsite doctors, nurses, PT, OT - she is so excited to be there and is already feeling the peace and support she will receive.

We have been so impressed and grateful at the attention The Carrington at Lincolnwood has given to keeping their residents safe during this pandemic. They had quickly put all safety measures in place and followed state guidelines with each restriction change, along with weekly communications to residents and their families. I visit my mother weekly, sitting outdoors, and we are often greeted by friendly and cheerful staff members who are just saying hello, reminding residents to wear their masks properly, or offering cold drinks when the weather is warm. The personnel at the front desk have been extremely helpful by delivering the supplies that Ive brought directly up to my moms apartment, again, keeping everyone safe. We thank you , Carrington!

If you are viewing this review, then you are likely in process of emotionally rationalizing why moving your parent(s) into a caring facility. You may also be researching how the process will go and how disruptive life might be for you and your parent(s). And finally, what facility is best and which will make your parent(s) feel most comfortable. My sister and I recently went through this process and found that working with the Carrington staff was very helpful with addressing all our concerns and worries. First, I personally believe there is no perfect time to move your parents into a facility like Carrington, it is a leap of faith and you hope for the best. I can tell you that the Carrington friendly staff and culture has made the transition for our parents very smooth. They have made them feel welcome, special and at home. I visit often and see this first hand. In addition, our father comments on this topic frequently. This brings peace of mind to our worries. As for the Carrington being a good fit for your parents, all I can tell you is what is communicated back to me frequently from our parents, the staff is so nice to me everytime I see them, they really take care of me and are always looking out for me, the food is amazing, I need to stop eating all the deserts as I am gaining too much weight, this is such a beautiful place, I am so thankful we found the Carrington. I hope you find this feedback useful for your research purposes. Best of luck.

This is an amazing home for my mother, aunt, and uncle in the Memory Care area of the site. To say it is a care facility is too sterile....this is truly a home environment, where the staff members care for all the residents as if they are members of their family. This extends to residents families as well. A couple of examples: The Carrington Staff has been phenomenal dealing with COVID-19. They have gone above and beyond to keep the residents safe, have been honest with families about testing results of staff and residents, and have been ahead of state requirements every step of the way - in fact, they have been so much ahead they have been able to donate leftover PPE to charity (WOW). They have made it possible, through their safety procedures, to be able to have safe visits by appointment with residents and their families and have had no cases since doing so. They have set up video chatting with residents when in person visits are not possible. One evening they set up a video call with my uncles sister on her birthday. They always find the resident if you call on the phone and need to speak to your loved one. They help with furniture delivery and installment. They follow up with medical check up and issues frequently. They are 100% empowered to help and be kind to the residents they serve. Also, the facility is second to none. Bright, open, clean, and easy to navigate. I just cant say enough for the Carrington and their Staff!!! This has made my sister and I feel so good about my mothers home here in the senior part of her life. PEACE is the best word for it.

My parents just moved into the Carrington, after dealing with an emergency health crisis which made staying in their split-level home impossible. Greg at the Carrington was incredibly helpful, kind, and patient as we navigated this change - meeting with us several times to tour the facilities and various apartments, taking us to meet with the Open Arms care service within the Carrington, and meeting the movers on the actual move in day. Its only been a week, but my parents love their gorgeous new apartment and say the food is amazing! Greg (and all the Carrington staff) made what could have been a very difficult transition as smooth and seamless as possible. Thank you!

The Carrington is a beautiful facility dedicated to maintaining the safest possible conditions for residents and their families. Caregivers that have stayed in numerous similar facilities in the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs note that the food is exceptional. I am very grateful that I found The Carrington for my parents and I highly recommend it.

My Mom moved into the Carrington Memory Care unit in October of 2019. She seems to be very well and is treated respectfully by the staff. We never regretted her moving in and have been happy with how she has responded to her living arrangements. The staff does care about their residents and encourages activities. I recommend the Carringtons Memory Care unit

My Mom & Dad moved into The Carrington at Lincolnwood Memory Care in Sept 2019. My Dad received excellent hospice care and died peacefully surrounded by family, which the Carrington staff facilitated beautifully. My Mom has enjoyed living there since. In March 2020, she was joined at Carrington Lincolnwood by her sister and brother-in-law. The Carrington staff were on top of CDC and other recommendations during the from the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The put steps to protect patients and staff in place even before they were required, recommended. As a physician, I was very happy to see such a robust and thorough response. The staff are kind and go out of their way to make the residents happy. And, as my Mom has told me many times--the food is really good! I am so happy that my Mom, Aunt and Uncle are in such a safe, caring environment with excellent interpersonal and medical care.

Before moving to Illinois to be closer to our younger daughter – we toured a newly built senior living complex in Virginia where we had lived for 45 years. We were looking for a nice kitchen as well as a gym and laundry facilities in the unit. We did not find what we wanted til we found The Carrington. It provides all of our needs and many wants as well. Cant ask for more! – Keith and Genie Brown, May 2020

My mom moved into an independent living unit at the Carrington in the middle of February 2020. Since the day she moved in she has loved it. The staff have been wonderful, and the amenities are plentiful and well thought out.During the COVID-19 pandemic the staff have done everything they can to keep residents comfortable and engaged. Due to CDC guidelines the Carrington had to gradually stop all of its in person group activities, but it has done a nice job of creating programming on their in house TV station and leveraging good weather for some outdoor music events where residents can maintain appropriate social distancing. The community is complying with state of Illinois and CDC rules and guidelines to ensure the community is clean and to reduce the risk of virus transmission. Theyve provided my mom with an N-95 mask and are happy to provide her replacement masks when she misplaces or forgets hers.My moms really looking forward to when the dining room can reopen and other in person activities can resume, but until then the staff at the Carrington have done everything they can to ensure her health and well-being. It has been a relief for me that shes been living at the Carrington and theyve taken such good care of her during this very difficult time.

I feel so fortunate that for the past 2 years I have been a part of a people and community-focused environment. The spirit is friendly, attentive, responsive and empathic. We reach toward one another. The interior spaces also reflect this aspect – wide spacious art- filled hallways, full gym, saltwater pool, movie theatre, 3 gracious dining venues. I love watching mama and baby ducklings as they return from the pond outside our 30ft wide balcony. Favorite activities: variety of classes, happy hour, entertainment and culture-focused day trips. These are very difficult times and The Carrington has taken great care in keeping the residents safe. All CDC guidelines are in place and very good communication to the families has helped during this time of isolation. I am so glad that my mother is living at The Carrington and I look forward to being able to come there for dinner and engage with the new friends she has made.

My mom moved to the Carrington in January. It is a beautiful new facility with exceptional staff. She is very comfortable there and in fact moved to a different unit just a couple months after moving in so she could be closer to the main bank of elevators and have a balcony. Cathy, who coordinates residents moves, made it flawless.Every step of the process was made easier by the wonderful staff. Greg, the residency coordinator, was very thorough and gave us a tour of the entire independent living facility. There are so many wonderful amenities including both indoor and outdoor. We love visiting with my mom outside where the landscaping is absolutely breathtaking and peaceful. Indoor, my mom went swimming with one of her granddaughters soon after moving in. My mom hadnt been swimming in years! She loved it and it was very special time with her granddaughter.Being surrounded by others during this pandemic has been a very positive boost for my mom. Carrington is taking all necessary precautions to keep the residents safe including regular temperature checks of both residents and staff. extra cleanings, hand sanitizing stations and thorough updates posted on a regular basis. My mom felt at home the very first day she moved to Carrington. The staff and residents are welcoming and made her transition from her home of over 50 years to Carrington an easy one.

After researching independent living facilities, we decided on The Carrington, Lincolnwood. The facility is modern and beautiful and the amenities are top notch. Fitness facility, pool, classes, concierge—its like living in a 4-star hotel. Most of all, we appreciate the kind, caring staff at The Carrington. No request is too big or too small. They are always there for my mom and for us. We know shes in great hands, which is especially reassuring when we cant be there in person.

Everything about the Carrington is outstanding: the building and grounds are impeccably maintained; staff is to a person cordial and professional; dining services are excellent with a wide selection (even during the COVID challenges, care and effort to keep things nice were evident); residents are active, interested and interesting people. I have not been disappointed by my choice to live here!

I have lived at the Carrington since almost the beginning. The day my husband Phil and I came there were only 13 of us. I believe the 13 of us set the pace for friendliness and welcoming for all who have come since then. Now in March 2020 we are a family of over 170 in independent living. The friendliness remains which makes it wonderful for all newcomers. We have everything we could possibly want; rather like living on a cruise ship. But for me the community is the most important.

First of all, finding good care for an elderly family member with cognitive issues is a difficult business - both on the providers and on the families seeking to provide the best. In our situation, our grandmother has dementia, yet she can have many moments where she seems just like her old self--witty, active in the conversation, and able to make her own decisions--all of which may escape her a short time later. When we realized she needed to be in a memory care unit, there were many options and we chose the one we felt was the right fit for her (it was a different facility before The Carrington was built). Within days of her arrival at the other facility, a personality conflict with another resident and her not feeling well resulted in the facility moving her to the hospice floor. Needless to say, we were extremely frustrated and disappointed that her life became constricted to being surrounded by fellow residents in different stages of the later part of life who were no longer active. We felt it was not the right fit and place for her. Before the year was up, we toured The Carrington at Lincolnwood and were immediately impressed with the natural light flooding the interior and the huge volume of spaces for the residents to walk around and engage in social activities. The move was nevertheless a rough transition with the challenges of relocating a family member with cognitive and visual disabilities. I also need to add that she has a 12-hour daily caregiver due to her illness and visual impairment. The staff were always willing to meet with us to discuss her adjustment and needs. They shared their vision with us and said they were adding memory stations in the hallways, field trips, and activities. We found all of the staff engaged and accommodating to our requests. In November, Dashira (Dash) came on board and we met with her over Christmas. Within two months, our grandmother and the rest of the memory care residents were baking cookies, had visited a fire department and police department, toured a church, went to the Chicago Botanical Gardens Winter Wonderland, had an ugly Christmas sweater contest, painted pictures, and enjoyed singing and dancing in a variety of settings within the facility. Moreover, they started having weekly Happy Hour. The last thing I did was order a swimsuit for grandma to see if she is willing to use the pool--all with Dashs guidance and encouragement.Whereas when we used to visit grandma in her prior residence, she always opened her greeting with I want to leave here, she now seems quite content to call The Carrington her home. And while grandma has her difficult, temperamental days, and sometimes all she wants to do is sleep, all those times when she reclaims herself and feels she is in an environment to live life to her fullest more than compensates for the few difficult moments.
