From the perspective of this senior citizen, Im very lucky to live at Vi at the Glen. If I’m lonesome, there’s always someone to talk with. I never had as many friends at one time as I have now. So many activities are available that sometimes I have to choose between two offered at the same time. Among my favorites are the Improv group, where we do a lot of laughing, and the art class where I particularly like working with pastels and getting my fingers into my work. The lectures and discussion groups are thought-provoking and stimulating. Musical and other forms of entertainment are also frequently on the calendar. Each evening I choose between eight different dinner entrees with an assortment of breads, soups, starters, and sides, not to mention the tempting, delicious desserts. We have lovely grounds, with a setting conducive to dining outside when the weather permits. Life is good at Vi at the Glen. Karyl Golden

At the end of August I will be celebrating 24 years as a Resident of Vi at The Glen, My husband was with me for 22 of those years. During that time our care in every category was met and then some. I have the choice of two lovely dining rooms and a bistro to enjoy delicious and healthy meals with others or maybe occasionally in my apartment. There are programs to keep me mentally and physically healthy and entertained. There is a Care Center in the community for short or long term care when I need it. And then there is a Staff and a Resident Council that wants to hear about whatever concerns and suggestions I may have. So come visit. See it and feel it for yourself. Have to run now. Three years here at the Vi at the Glen has confirmed that we made the right choice. Arriving just after Covid19 ramped up it's assault, the Vi administration did a magnificent job in keeping residents as safe as possible. My parents moved to Vi in 2020. It’s a really great place to spend this chapter of life. It is a vibrant community of seniors who are not ready to sit on the porch in a rocking chair. Although if they want to, they can. The amenities and food make it like living at the country club. When you eventually give up driving or need more help with activities of daily living, they fill those gaps as you need them. My parents wish they had moved in sooner so they would have a few more years to enjoy it.

My husband and I have been here 712 years. Every category gets 5 stars. Stafffrom administration all the way downthey are superlative-friendly, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful. Our welfare and comfort is their main priority. Foodthe best. Friends and family love coming here for dinner. Selection is excellent- multiple choices across the board-super kitchen and wait staff to boot. Activitiesexercise classes daily, aquacize, cards, book clubs, guest speakers, musical performances, outings, walking beautiful grounds, a memoir group, art studio, bocci ball, super library donation dependent. You name it and it’s all your choice. Friendshipshave developed lots of new friends. Funny how many small worldconnections pop up. Having dinner with friends old and new is a special part of the day. Housingunits are amazing and range from one and two bedroom variations covering a spectrum of floor plans. I know it sounds like all these superlatives are BS, but I assure you they are not. We feel very blesses to live here. And what a great long term gift to our kids. The decision has been ours, not theirs.

Life has been very good. We are able to go to Florida in the winter for golf, good food, weather, and fun friends. We are also able to go to Michigan and be on a lake. Then we come back to the Vi at the Glen, which has very good facilities, great food and fun people with very interesting backgrounds. And if we ever need it, just across the street we have assisted-living a nursing facility or memory care at no additional cost. What could be better?

I have only lived at the Vi at THE GLEN for two weeks, but the residents and the staff have made me feel like I’ve lived here forever. Within days, the staff was calling me by name and offering to help in any way that they could. Long time residents included me in their dinner plans. Making new friends was a side benefit of which I had not planned. Moving out of my condo in the city was bittersweet, but knowing that I wanted to be closer to my family in the North Shore suburbs became a priority. The Vi has been a perfect choice. My apartment is bright and cheery, the grounds are beautiful and well-maintained and I am now only 15 minutes from my children, grandchildren and a great grandchild. I had lived 60 years in a beautiful house in Highland Park - with a pool and rooms full of memories. About six months after my husband died, my daughters brought me to explore the Vi in Glenview. (My daughter Sally had seen the Vi in La Jolla, CA, was very impressed, and thought we should look at the Vi here.) Lucky for me -I thought it covered all my needs. All of the large spaces enjoyed by all the residents looked like they would make my life easier (and more social!). I moved into a one-bedroom apt. with one and one-half baths - my daughters helped me pick out furniture that would fit my new place - leaving all my furniture in the house to be divided among my children grandchildren , who all lived nearby. Meeting my fellow residents made me feel as if we were all back in college days. One day when I was in the bar area, saw a new resident, and looked at her name tag. I said "I can rembember your name - Pamela Smith - because I went to Smith College!" She said: "So did I!" (Now we have a group of four who went to Smith - and now and then we meet for dinner to share our memories!) Living here I'm busier than ever. Exercise class - games of all kinds (bridge, canasta, rummikub) - musical entertainment - group rides to theatre nearby or in Chicago - and much more.

We physically moved to Vi at the Glen on June 14, 2023. We actually closed on March 22nd but we were unable to move until we prepared our Colorado home for sale. It was a large house so there was much to do. All of our design and selections had to be done remotely since we also have a condominium in Florida. Needless to say, it was a gigantic undertaking for us but thanks to Ellen and the entire Vi team, it all got completed with very little issues. Our Villa is perfect for us! One great recommendation from Ellen was to hire a move in manager, Meg, who helped us unpack and remove the boxes and packing materials! The movers and Meg came at 8:00 AM and everyone left at 3:00 PM with our kitchen organized, beds made and furniture in place! It was worth every penny we paid and the movers were delighted because they could leave early for their return to Colorado! Vi's selection process was easy to follow and all of our questions were answered promptly and accurately! A big thanks to all who helped us in our transition to senior living at the Vi at the Glen! I AM UPDATING AND ADDING TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW ON JUNE 14, 2026: On January 15, 2026, I had extensive back surgery at Lutheran General Hospital. After my discharge, I was transported directly to the VI’s Care Center. I was in the skilled nursing area for seven weeks. My experience in the Care Center was outstanding! The care I received was superior to my other experiences in hospitals. The Care Center is a mini hospital with individual care as the primary focus of the staff. From the Center’s staff doctor, nurses and their assistants, the care I received was wonderful! The meals, physical and occupational therapy and 24/7 hour care was awesome! I progressed well enough to return to our villa for in home continued therapy after seven weeks. Because there was a lot of nerve damage from the surgery, my recovery was slower than I had hoped but the staff continued to offer support and encouragement for my recovery. I truly appreciate their assistance throughout the process of rehabilitation for me. I highly recommend potential residents consider the importance of having a Care Center on site for possible treatment and support for patients who need care during recovery from surgery or other medical procedures. My wife Peggy and I moved to the Vi in the Glen just over two months ago. Both of us are very pleased that we did make the BIG move which was totally supported by our three daughters. The sales team has been fantastic going back to the first day we visited the Vi and continuing on thru today. They don't forget you just because you are now a happy resident. Within the first couple of days after we moved in, heads of the various departments stopped by to make sure we were happy campers. Our jaws dropped when Claudio, the head of housekeeping rang our doorbell with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in his hand. The food and the service provided by the two dining rooms has been super! The quality and taste of the food is outstanding. The selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts is great. Like all of the employees at the Vi, the waiters, waitresses and supervisors do their best with a smile to boot. Regardless of the hour, the staff at the front desk is great. Our car is waiting for us in ten minutes or less after we call to have our chariot brought up from the secure and heated garage. They do the same for me when I would like my bike from the garage so I can get some outdoor exercise. Our cleaning lady does a super job weekly including changing the bedding on our king size bed which was alway a challenge for us. They do their best in striving to keep all of us healthy. We have found the fitness program to be a super benefit for both of us. The fitness coordinator Jorge maintains a four star program along with excellent equipment and indoor swimming pool. More recently we have become much more aware of probably the greatest asset of the Vi at the Glen here in Glenview. My wife moved over to the Care Center which is located right across the street from the independent living main building. The Care Center has a unit for residents that require skilled nursing (SN) and another unit on the first floor called CANVAS which provides fantastic memory support (MS). The entire second floor is devoted to those needing assisted living (AL). Each of the three units have separate dining rooms serving all residents with three meals per day. Each of the Care Center units has a complete staff including registered nurses. The Care Center also has a medical director who is a licensed medical physician. My wife and I have been totally impressed by all the help and Services provided for each and everyone resident. The Care Center has a beauty salon offering complete services. Since the Care Center is right across the street from the main building I visit my wife several times a day and frequently have dinner with her along with the other Care Center residence. Like the dining room rooms in the independent living main building, a menu is offered with a number of choices for each of the three meals daily. Being over there several times a day I can readily see how well the entire staff works together as a real team. I could continue to go on with the many other benefits at the Vi but I don't want to take too much of your time. Peg and I are so pleased that a couple who are our dear friends for many years sold us on joining them for excellent senior living. We have successfully sold a couple of our friends to move to the V at the Glen during the past couple of years.

We aren't sure that we need to maintain our memberships at Chicago Botanical Garden because we are living in a Botanical Garden. The place is absolutely gorgeous. It is well maintained and the Housekeeping team is well trained and thoroughly enjoy their work and interaction with the residents. Once inside, it has a palatial feel to it the common areas are well appointed, tastefully so,. The residences, be they apartments or homes( call ed villas) are first rate and the staff spares no effort to accommodate your preferences for the interiors. The Dining areas are attractively laid out and the kitchen is first rate...we feel sometimes that we are on a cruise ship that never moves away from the dock. All of this goes to the Administration in their selection, hiring, and training of the people in the departments....They hire managers who empower their associates to handle every situation effortlessly. You can't please everybody all of the time, but it is clear that t it is their desire to do so. I sometimes wonder if there is some magic in the air with the resident community...everybody here has been welcoming and willing to assist...this has to be a reason we are all here and why newcomers are overwhelmed with the good vibe of the place. The Staff sees to it that a variety of interests are well served with opportunities to participate in sports, games, music, dancing, acting, art, physical training, swimming, reading, trips to entertainment venues....it is never ending and fulfilling of a retirees dream. If you can't find it here, it isn't worth worrying about.

I have been a resident of Vi at The Glen since February 2025 and can honestly say it has been a wonderful place to live. After my beloved wife, Roberta, passed away in October 2024 following nearly 60 years of marriage, I knew I did not want to live alone. Choosing the Vi has proven to be one of the best decisions I could have made. The community is physically beautiful. The buildings and grounds are impressive, meticulously maintained, and welcoming. The interior spaces are bright, elegant, and comfortably furnished. My two-bedroom apartment is spacious, private, and feels very much like home. I especially enjoy spending time on my balcony. One of the greatest strengths of the Vi is its people. The residents are warm, friendly, and welcoming, making it easy to form new friendships and become part of the community. The staff, many of whom have been with the Vi for years, are consistently caring, professional, and supportive. Their dedication contributes greatly to the positive atmosphere here. The dining experience is another highlight. There are several excellent dining options, and the food is consistently delicious. The bar is also a favorite gathering place, providing a relaxed and enjoyable setting for socializing with friends. The Vi offers an impressive variety of activities and programs. I particularly enjoy participating in the chorus and the Improv group. I also occasionally play bridge, golf, and bocce ball, all of which help keep life active, engaging, and fun. In every respect, Vi at The Glen has exceeded my expectations. It provides a beautiful environment, outstanding amenities, caring staff, and a vibrant community of residents. Barbara and Bill S. Four months ago we moved to the Vi to be closer to our family. We found the Vi to be a warm and welcoming community. On move-in day, we did not know anyone who lived here. However, within a few days we had many new friends and the numbers continue to keep growing. The physical setting of the Vi is beautiful. Outside the grounds are inviting with lovely planting beds, trees, shrubs and walking paths. Inside the common areas are lovely with lots of windows to bring in the sunshine and the outside beauty. They are kept spotless. Apartments are designed with your personal taste in carpet/wood floors and fresh paint. Each has a balcony with chairs and table. The staff is amazing. They are so helpful and immediately know you by name. The Vi offers many programs, interest groups and exercise programs. Selecting ones you’d like to try can keep you as busy as you like. The library is a special place. Daily you have a variety of newspapers to read and it has a large selection of books. It’s a cozy place to sit by the fireplace or windows to read. The food is outstanding. In addition to menus with an array of options, it’s very hard to ever resist one of the delicious desserts. The Vi is an wonderful place to live, and we are so grateful to call it home.

The Vi at the Glen in Glenview, Illinois is a wonderful place to live! I looked at several senior living communities around Chicago when I was considering this move and this one really stood out for its beauty, integrated setting in the community, thoughtful exterior and interior design, and all the amenities it offers. I knew I only wanted to move once more in my life and have everything I might need be available there for the future. Ended up moving here to the Vi in August 2025 and it is even better than expected. I love the strong sense of community it provides with other residents, who have been incredibly welcoming and friendly. And the Vi's Staff are amazing! By Day 2 they all somehow knew my name and were proactively ready to help in any way they could. The facilities and grounds here are beautiful and very well-maintained. There is a wide variety of beautiful and spacious 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and villas to choose from with some that also include a roomy den. And every apartment or villa offers either an outdoor patio or balcony. With all the programs, interest groups, and exercise offerings, there are always things to get involved in. And I appreciate their 24 hour onsite valet parking and concierge services, expert computer/IT help, onsite Wellness Center, pool, exercise facilities, salon and spa. They also have an outstanding, highly rated Care Center that provides higher levels of care and compassion for those needing Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Nursing care if and when anyone needs it. And let me also call out the outstanding food served in their dining rooms (including a choice of 4 different venues). They do a great job with their culinary programs. Living here at the Vi has taken away all the stressors in my old life and provided more access to those things that bring me joy! No more worries or expenses of maintaining a house and yard and wishing for easier ways to meet people and engage in activities. It's all right here with a wide variety of choices every day. And we can still maintain all our outside friendships and favorite activities too. If you are considering such a move, you should visit the Vi. You will be amazed!

My parents made the move from their home of 20+ years in Laguna Beach, CA to the Vi this last Spring. It was a very difficult decision and overwhelming both emotionally and physically, especially given that it was a cross-country move. However, the Vi provided a great deal of support and made my parents feel welcome from the get-go. Everyone who assisted with the move was incredibly kind, compassionate and generous with their time. It was obvious that their primary goal was to make my parents feel welcome and settled in their new home as soon as possible. The Vi offers a vibrant community of people who want to connect and create shared experiences. The facilities, services and amenities are first class but it is the social outreach from both staff and residents that makes it second to none. My sister and I are so very comforted in knowing that my parents are in such good hands. I would highly recommend the Vi to anyone interested in becoming a part of a senior community that prioritizes care and compassion, social interaction, intellectual stimulation, physical exercise and a real sense of home and community.

We had very high expectations before we moved into The Vi, and these expectations have been exceeded! The staff is exceptional, and they are all responsive, friendly, and competent. The three restaurants are beautiful, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. The residents are accomplished and friendly folks. The gym, the swimming pool, and the Care Center are all first class. As we were told by one of the residents before we moved, If you can’t be happy here, you can’t be happy anywhere! Moving to the Vi was a major decision with many considerations. It certainly turns out to be the very best decision. The facilities, programs, and amenities are first class. A major point of difference compared to other senior living options is the hospitality industry heritage of the Vi which originally influenced the campus and structures and continues to this day in staffing and service excellence - like living in a luxury resort. The Vi staff and their level of genuine warmth, support, and 24/7 service deserves more than 5 stars. The cuisine of the 3 restaurants never disappoints. Lots of opportunities for exercise, the arts, activities - even tho I don't know bridge! I have great neighbors. Life is good.

My parents moved into the Vi in 2004. My father passed away in 2014, and my mother has had a wonderful experience in Independent Living (IL) for two decades! She turns 97 in Feb, and due to recent health issues, has moved into Assisted Living (AL) after spending weeks in Skilled Nursing. The transition to AL was seamless, thanks to the compassionate effort and guidance of Sarah Watson, Director of Resident Services. Other staff at the Vi were very accommodating in preparing her new apartment in AL (including painting, carpeting, etc.) and the nurses and staff have been very supportive of our mother's needs. We are very grateful for the outstanding care and support that both parents have received at the Vi. I would highly recommend this community!

After 20 years in the VI’s independent living, our 97 year old mom recently experienced a precipitous decline in her health. After a hospital stay the week after Thanksgiving, the Vi had her spend time in skilled nursing to ensure she can safely resume independent living. We determined that a move to assisted living would be best and fortunately, an opening in assisted living was coming available. She is now successfully moved into assisted living thanks to the attentive care and attention to detail provided by the entire staff during that transition. Prior to the move, our mom was apprehensive about losing her independence in skilled nursing and assisted living. However since experiencing the care provided in both skilled nursing and now in assisted living, she is very pleased with the move. The staff not only ensured a smooth physical move, but they have spent extra attention to ensure she integrates with the residents in dining, exercise classes, art activities and more. Whenever I off-handedly ask a staff member about any question, I later receive a phone call from a nurse, therapist, or social worker making sure that I received a sufficient answer. I’ve been beyond impressed by the professionalism and level of care in assisted and skilled nursing. The Vi has truly impressed me and lived up to a standard that I didn’t think existed anymore in the nursing care segment. I would highly recommend the Vi for anyone evaluating independent living options. The value that the Vi provides throughout a person’s lifecycle is impressive. The care and level of support in not just daily living but during times of transition (when the help is really needed) is delivered in a personable and caring way. The Vi may not be the low price alternative, but if you are looking for quality in care, the staff, the culture, facilities and services, I cannot imagine another facility topping the Vi at the Glen. I appreciate it more now than I did before as they have delivered on what I had always hoped would still exist in today’s profit-focused world.

The VI has made her transition seamless and also helped us organize the move to Assisted living. I cannot say enough about the staff at both Independent and Assisted living. We just celebrated Mom's 100th birthday in the special dining room of the Vi. The setting was lovely, and the meal was terrific. All we added were the photos, balloons, and the birthday banner made by her great-grandchildren. Mom was thrilled. The food was all excellent and the two folks who took care of us (Alex and Lana?) were charming and flexible as well as kind and attentive to the range of guests (aged less than one to 100). They were unfazed by the plane-delayed arrival of one group of guests, and everyone had a wonderful time. The weather cooperated and we were able to use the outdoor space next to the dining room. In short, everything went off beautifully. Through the years since Mom chose to move to the Vi, and then had to take advantage of the nursing care, and move to assisted living, I’ve been impressed by the quality of everything at the Vi. It was absolutely fitting that we had her 100th birthday at the Vi “ and the folks at the Vi did not disappoint.

I moved into the Vi about 6 weeks ago and have been very busy trying all the classes that appeal to me. The Vi has many activities available for all the residents. Exercise classes, discussion groups,, book clubs and they also schedule many concerts and entertainment to come in for the residents at the Vi . Many games are played at the Vi such as canasta, mah-jongg, bridge and rummikub. I am meeting a lot of wonderful people and I am enjoying life at the Vi. My mother lived very happily at the Vi for eight years. She lived independently and loved the variety of activities, the food and the general ambience. When she no longer could live alone she moved to the Care Center. The support and care that she received for the last 16 months has been outstanding. Staff members from the director down knew my mother and did their best to insure that her quality of life was as positive as possible. The nursing staff and the CNAs created caring relationships with my mom. The nurses always took the time to answer my concerns as well. I hope that I’m lucky enough to spend my final years in such a wonderful environment.

We moved into The Vi 4 months ago. I am very happy with our choice of this continuing care community. When you walk down the hallways staff and residents are smiling and welcoming. The dining rooms are lovely and the food is delicious. I have not cooked a dinner since we moved in, and I like to cook. We have been to a play in downtown Chicago, and I have been on a museum trip. Both events were arranged by and transportation was provided by the Vi. Perfect way to avail ourselves of the benefits of living near Chicago. Lifestyles department arranges musical entertainment, nights at Ravina, trips to restaurants, botanic gardens, baseball games, etc. I enjoy the fitness center equipment as well as the fitness classes I have attended. I have participated in Tai Chi, yoga, water aerobics, and balance and strength classes. Life here is busy and fun. Wellness Center arranges vaccinations, blood work at your apartment and more. We happen to live in a Villa, and we love it. Residents who live in the main building seem to also love their choice. My husband and I feel this is a perfect place to enjoy our retirement and grow old together.

My mom lived at Vi at The Glen for 18 years. It has been wonderful for our family. From time to time my mom had to move into the Care Center after a hospitalization and the staff we encountered there could not have been more professional and personal. When she moved over into Assisted Living three years ago and finally into Skilled Care, not only was the same staff still there but they remembered my mom and became part of our family support system. Any organization that can retain staff with excellent qualifications and such compassion speaks volumes. i moved into the Vi at the end of June 2021. the very next day everyone at the front desk knew my name. they publish a Resident Phone Book with the phone numbers of the residents. I received phone calls from residents i did nor know inviting me to dinner. My friend moved into the Vi in July and was given the unit next to mine. she was also called by by other residents to join them for dinner, i have adjusted to the live here and have never been happier. i have played poker and bridge here and also have a trainer who works with me in the workout room next to a beautiful pool. The food is great with wonderful deserts.. i have friends who have come to Vi to consider moving here, i highly recommend the Vi as a great community to enjoy your senior years,
