Emerald is an extraordinarily well organized place. Their primary focus is kindness and compassion in taking care of your loved ones. The nurses regularly communicate on the health and well being of the resident. The nursing staff as well as the administrative staff are kind, courteous and very accommodative. The place is clean, roomy and well kept at all times. Special mention to Caitlin, Aimee, Noreen, Gina and all staff for running a good organization and making our journey a very pleasant one. I cannot over emphasize the importance of a warm, caring environment for our loved ones in their twilight years. Thanks.

Giving 5 stars doesn't begin to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Emerald Place. The staff is professional & kind, personable. They know each of the residents & are diligent with not just their medical care, but their emotional care & quality of living. They maintain this safe, positive environment right thru the difficulties with COVID, providing status via email & phone calls on a regular basis. The environment is spotless & cheery with all staff engaging the residents on multiple levels. They care & I highly recommend them when your loved needs care on a 24/7 basis that you can trust.

My mom has been a resident at Emerald Place for three years. I am able to highly recommend them. The current staff has been upgraded and is outstanding and so positive. I am more confident in the staff now (when I havent been able to visit due to COVID) than I was when I was able to visit freely. They communicate internally and externally very well. Two instances to highlight. First, my mom turned 80 in June in peak COVID time. They helped me organize a birthday car parade. They decorated outside and mom looked like a million bucks. It was a thrill for her and all her friends and familys that drove by to wish her well. The second was that I had a very busy short period of time and was not as communicative as usual and the Exec. Director reached out to me to make sure everything was okay. Now thats a family. Highly recommend.

My husband has been a resident of Emerald Place since August, 2018. I visited seven other memory care facilities plus reviewed even more online prior to choosing Emerald Place. First and foremost, I am so pleased and grateful for the excellent care of a dedicated staff. My husband has declined to the point where he needs total assistance with feeding and personal care. He is always neat, clean, and cared for by loving nurses and caregivers. Secondly, the facility itself is so pleasant and attractive, from the common areas to the bedrooms for each resident. There are always activities planned to meet the needs for all residents, at whatever their level of functioning may be. Finally, there is wonderful communication, especially this last year with all the COVID-19 restrictions. Emerald Place provides regular support groups and Zoom meetings for the families. There is immediate response to emails and phone calls. They have a wonderful Facebook site to keep families up to date on all the activities. Prior to COVID-19, families were invited to participate in such activities as special dinners, worship services, entertainment, and date night with our loved ones. Emerald Place has been a blessing in my life, providing me with peace of mind and the assurance that my husband is receiving the best of care.

Its never an easy decision to move a loved one out of your home and into a care facility, but after several years of at home care it became apparent that my wife needed the benefits of a larger community. We explored several different locations and found Emerald Place to be the most friendly, open and homelike atmosphere. My wife Ann moved into Emerald in Mid February 2020. Anns move to Emerald showed almost immediate improvement in her attitude and overall outlook. The staff was welcoming and kind to all of us. Ann felt comfortable and thats what mattered most. Only a few weeks after Ann moved to Emerald, Covid cases started to rise and lock downs began. Separation from your loved one is hard for the residents and their families but the Emerald staff continues to be the best! They are professional and caring. They work hard every day to make sure we communicate as often as possible with our loved ones while maintaining guidelines for the safety of the entire community. The activities staff at Emerald Place make sure the residents are engaged and active with a wide variety of fun and creative events. I want to thank all the Nurses, Caregivers, Staff and Senior Management for their commitment and compassion during these difficult times. I do feel that Ann is in good hands. We look forward to getting back to normal so we can interact as one large family. Heroes really do work there. Thank you Emerald Place!

My mom has been a resident at Emerald Place since Set 2020 . I moved her here after having a terrible experience at a community in Long Grove. To say I was nervous and skpetctial about moving her is an understatement. I was very concerned about her anxiety and confusion escalating if I moved her to a new location. After meeting with Kim and Caitlin in August I knew in my heart this was a great community. I could feel the warmth in their hearts and could see they truly are devoted to their residents and the level of care they provide. After a few weeks filled with turmoil I decided to move my mom to Emerald. I knew from the minute I dropped her off I had made the right decision. They greeted her with smiles and hugs and made her part of the family immediately. The communication between the staff and myself is impeccable. Aimee and Caitlin keep me posted on all aspects of my mom s life at Emerald. I get pictures of her on my phone one or twice a week from Mila so I can see the activities she participates in. I can not say enough good about this community and the staff. Everyone I have encountered has been phenomenal. It is so apparent their number one priority is the care and happiness of their residents. I highly recommend Emerald Place.

After making the very difficult decision to move my mom to a memory care facility, we checked out several local facilities. Emerald Place quickly rose to the top of our options due to the size, being strictly a memory care facility, clean and bright facilities, and the warmth of the staff. My mom has been very happy and comfortable, and we have been thrilled with the care she has received over the last year. The staff is truly so warm and loving, and they create fun activities all day for the residents. There were so many fun and interesting outdoor activities this summer. As difficult as the visiting restrictions have been because of COVID this year, Emerald Place has done a great job of making new procedures for outdoor visits, door visits, Zoom visits etc, as well as fun and entertaining activities for the residents. We feel very lucky that our beloved mother is in such a loving and nice environment.

Our mother moved into Emerald Place 3 months ago. The complicated rocky road to get here release from the hospital was so difficult. The team of Kim, Caitlin and Aimee at Emerald Place handled it like Pros. They were accessible and comforting to deal with during a very difficult time. Since moving in mom has adapted and is doing so well. Even considering the challenges of Covid for the world its nice to see her having some fun. Its comforting to all of us that someone is watching out for her 24hrs a day and that she is safe. We are so glad we chose Emerald Place for our mom.

After a fall at home and a stint in rehab, my Mother-in -laws doctor told me that I needed to accept that she wasnt going to get better and should call in hospice. That was 20 months ago and she is thriving at Emerald Place. Its a difficult decision to make moving a loved one from home but it was absolutely the best thing I could do for her. In addition to the clean, bright, cheery atmosphere, the staff is caring, dedicated and knowledgeable. Immediately my Mother-in-law felt at home and I knew she was safe. Then came Covid. I wondered if the high quality of care would continue and how my Mother-in-law would do under the circumstances. I am beyond impressed. Not only do they take care of all the residents needs but us family members as well. There are regular zoom calls so we can get updates on the community, support groups and even a book club. I feel tremendous support not only from the staff but the extended Emerald Place family. Like family describes how our loved ones are cared for, respected and treated with dignity.. How do I know? The smile on my Mother-in-laws face says it all.

My wife transitioned to Emerald Place in November 2019, after almost five years of home care for her Alzheimers Disease. That gave me a few months to become familiar with all aspects of life at Emerald Place prior to the pandemic visiting practices that began in March 2020. My selection of Emerald Place was based on feedback from a family member who visited several memory care communities and my own visit to Emerald Place. From the moment I started my tour, I knew that I had found an outstanding home for my wife – up-to-date, state-of-the art facilities with a staff that is proficient, caring and enthusiastic about working with the residents. Day- in and day-out, the upbeat disposition of the staff is felt by the residents who show their happiness. Emerald Place may be likened to a cruise ship – dining areas at the stern and activity areas at the bow, so residents are on the move many times each day as they transition between the areas, plus there is a lovely protected courtyard area and porches to enjoy during warmer weather. Just like a cruise ship, entertainment is offered on a regular basis along with bingo, flower arranging, exercise classes, religious services and more. The monthly activity calendar shows that every day is carefully planned for maximum resident enjoyment. Special events in 2020 include an appearance by the Jesse White Tumblers, Sheila Tulley Irish Dancers, Big Band Night, Hawaiian Luau, Cinco de Mayo, Elvis Presley and more. The rooms are spacious, bright, cheerful, well ventilated and each has excellent views of the surrounding neighborhood. No one looks out at a nearby wall. Meals are served in a formal dining room with a broad range of food to satisfy all tastes. A valuable, distinguishing feature of Emerald Place is the broad range of in-house services, a huge benefit for residents who may be challenged dealing with travel to off-site appointments. The upscale, full-service Kosoff salon takes care of all grooming needs. Physical and occupational therapists are equipped for onsite services. Remarkably, a dentist visits Emerald Place for a full range of dental services. A podiatrist visits regularly. Most importantly, in-house primary care is provided by a medical group that include physician assistants who see residents on a weekly basis. That enables them to be proactive to adjust medications promptly and address other emerging needs. The management team at Emerald Place is a high-energy, efficient group that is well liked by the staff and residents. They set a positive, pervasive tone that keeps spirits high, a critical element as everyone manages all aspects of life during the pandemic. Their professionalism shines as they proficiently manage pandemic challenges. Management meets with family members on a regular basis, plus there is a family support group and a book club, all elements that create a strong family feeling at Emerald Place – were all in this together! Lastly, if you would like to talk about my experience at Emerald Place, please ask the management for my contact information.

Our experience at Emerald Place has been better than anything we could have even hoped for!! Bob was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2015. For years we managed at home with the help of an adult day program, caregivers and family. In February, just prior to the March shut down, I had looked at Emerald Place and one other facility - just to be prepared for the future. I was very impressed with everything I saw and heard at Emerald Place. But I wasnt ready for that move. Then Covid came! In July, after struggling at home alone for months, Bob moved in. The facility is lovely and well equipped with current technology to ensure the residents safety. But beyond the physical, the entire staff is amazing! They are ALL kind and caring and well trained and professional. During this challenging time they are responsive to the needs of both their residents and their residents families. I truly believe that Bob is in the best place that he could be!!!

What a wonderful facility! Id give them more stars if I could. The staff is friendly, patient, and skilled in working with people who have memory deficits. It is a newer space that is very clean and well laid out. We visited my grandma and she said she is very busy and she likes all her friends (aka her nurses and additional staff). The individuals running Emerald Place genuinely care about their residents and host a variety or events, activities, and exercises to keep them busy. Its wonderful visiting my grandma and knowing she is in Wonderful hands and that she is safe!

My father has been a resident at Emerald Place for almost two years now. In those two years he and my family have truly become part of the community at Emerald. From the moment we first toured the newly opened facility, I knew it would be a good fit for him. Its small, only two floors, staff was visible throughout, residents were out of their rooms, smiling and engaged. I cannot say enough about the caregivers and staff at Emerald. They are warm and welcoming and make you feel like family. Lets face it, being a caregiver is a tough, thankless job. And granted, as a newly opened facility there were some growing pains. But throughout the transitions, Dad was always treated with compassion and respect by the staff, calling him by name, greeting him with hugs, making sure he had his favorite orange juice with breakfast. He is always nicely dressed in clean cloths and included in as many daily activities as he can tolerate. And those activities! Field trips to local restaurants, guest musical groups and singers, preschool childrens visits (love the inter-generational aspect), flower arranging, dance parties, brain games… just to name a few. There are various daily options for all residents. For myself, being part of their community allows me to get to know other residents and their families. And as the nature of this horrible disease takes its toll on everyone, there are support groups, family nights and camaraderie that give us strength. I know I speak for my siblings and myself when I say how grateful we are to have found Emerald Place for my Dad. We can sleep at night knowing he is safe, supervised and compassionately cared for.

My father began to lose his physical and then memory skills during his 95th year. He had prided himself on his independence and had a difficult time adapting to his lose of Depression-Era pride. My family was blessed to find Emerald Place in Glenview. Its physical environment felt like home. Residents were able to move about the secured and monitored facilities with caregivers alert to their needs and location. Provided activities drew out language and memory skills through enjoyable activities. All residents were spoken to by name and caregivers took the time on a frequent basis to engage them in conversation about their lives. Sometimes, this can be a tricky population to manage but Emerald Place did so with compassion and loving care. My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease about seven years ago, and up until November of 2017, he was able to stay at home, with some occasional help from caregivers. At that time, it was necessary to look close to home for a facility that offered only memory care. My specific requirements were that the place had to be clean, the staff had to be trained to engage residents other than a few words now and then, and the accommodations had to be pleasant. Emerald Place opened in December of 2017, and they offered a brand new facility, a young-thinking paradigm toward memory care, a fabulous engagement piece, and the accommodations were wonderful. My husband was one of the first five residents at the facility. His has a sociable nature and the Emerald Place made a perfect fit for him. As with any new facility, as the resident population grew, the staff grew, and I never went to sleep worrying about the safety of my husband. Today, the staff and resident population is still growing, and the care is excellent. The Director, the Community Relations Manager, the nurses, the caregivers, the custodial staff, the engagement folks, and the kitchen staff are attuned to the needs of all of the residents, their families, and to the interactions among the residents and their families. It is a bright and happy home for my husband. He enjoys his new-found friends, and so do I.

I first heard of Emerald Place through my association-involvement with the Glenview Chamber of Commerce. At that time my uncle was in a facility where there was not much engagement. He basically was looked after for basic needs and mainly stayed in room with TV on. He had no desire, and had lost most ability, to communicate and would not feed himself...we thought he was on his way out. After meeting Mary Ann Pappone and learning about the type of care and engagement Emerald Place was offering, me and family visited the facility. Were excited at how they engaged their residents and made every effort to get them involved in various activities. SO, the next step was to get my uncle evaluated to see if he was a fit . Michael Zywicki went to facility were uncle was and determined that Emerald Place would be a good fit. About a week later, my uncle moved in. Its been about 5 months now and, WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! There is rarely a time that I visit the uncle is in his room; he is usually in an activity or in a group session, whether it is arts and crafts, music-karaoke, trivia game, chair exercises or simply having a discussion on whats going on..he is always being engaged. Outside entertainment performers are also brought in to engage the residents. The results have been, to us, his family, miraculous! He converses, he laughs, he even has painted, with a bit of help, some pretty good pictures! AMAZING! He even feeds himself as best he can (has trouble cutting stuff up and with soup). This place has been a Godsend. Definitely the place I would want to be in if I was in the same situation as my uncle, which is a scary thought, but at least I know a place like this exists. GOOD JOB Emerald Place!

Its all about family- Caring for a loved one with Alzheimers is challenging to say the least and having family to support you is the most important aspect of this process. One of the toughest decisions that you will make as a care provider is to transition your loved one out of the home and in to a full-time facility. There are many choices out there and the horror stories are plenty. Completing research is exhausting, both physically and mentally, and the fear of your loved ones neglect is generally your highest concern (no one can ever love and care for them as much as you). In my opinion and from the bottom of my heart, I believe that The Emerald Place is the best choice for Alzheimers care in the Chicago area. Im living it. I spent nearly 6 months researching facilities across the Chicagoland area, landing initially on in-home care and eventually moving to a full-time facility ONLY because my dad was required as a hospital admit. My first-choice option for a facility was not open at the time as it was still under construction. We enrolled my dad at the second choice and it was not the right fit. We ultimately disenrolled my dad and brought him back home until our first-choice option, The Emerald Place, opened. My research was spot on! At the Emerald Place- its family. Not only does your family member get support but you become a part of an expanded family who welcomes you in to a community of love, compassion, and care where the needs of the disease are met and exceeded. It is where you can immerse yourself in education about how to receive and provide the best care not only for your loved one but for yourself as well. It is where you can sing and dance, hug and cry, share stories, and relax. It is where you dont have to worry about the details and stress of what is happening to your loved one because the people here love them just as much as your family. It is where you can find peace. The family-focused activities, group events, and holistic approach to care are what sets The Emerald Place apart. My dad has been at The Emerald Place since it opened nearly 8 months ago. When he first arrived in the care community, he was a direct hospital admit, meaning he rode from the ambulance to the facility as his health was such that he could no longer remain with in-home care. Today, he is one of the most active, exuberant, and lively individuals there. He walks, dances, sings, and participates in the daily events that the incredible team of care providers offers. While the disease causes a decline in dads traditional definition of health, dads spirit improves. I attribute this to the approach, team, environment, services, and sense of family that exists at The Emerald Place. My dad isnt the only one who has displayed improvements in the past 8 months. Both my mother and I have also seen a tremendous reduction of stress and return of happiness and faith that each moment of dads life is comfortable. This is directly tied to the holistic approach of The Emerald Place, where the belief is that Alzheimers affects everyone and that the family is cared for through a focus on group social events, blended activities, educational events, and a genuine care and concern for the family. You will not find care providers, nurses, volunteers, administrative team members, and environmental services and food services staff who every single moment of the day genuinely love and care for your family member and you anywhere else in the Chicagoland area. A single individual cannot care for someone who suffers from Alzheimers- it takes a family, and this is what you will find at The Emerald Place.

There are simply not enough words to say how blessed and truly grateful I am to the team at Emerald Place. In particular the Community Relations Director and Executive Director are outstanding beyond belief as is frankly the entire team. They moved mountains to help us get my mom where she needed to be, her new home. I say home because thats what this place has really become for me and my mom. The treatment, care and kindness they have all shown, candidly I was afraid was lost in todays day and age of elder care. Having already experienced two other places and unfortunately hearing horror stories of others, this place has turned out to be a godsend. Simply put, they have given me my life back. No longer do I worry if she is happy, I can see it all over her face. I dont worry if she is sleeping as she tells me how wonderful it is to be able to have heat in her room as much as she wants, which I love that the staff always makes sure she is warm and cozy. In addition, not only is the food great but they make sure to help her eat if she needs. For anyone having to face this, Ive been there and I understand what you are going through. I was in your very shoes so I am hoping this review will help ease your minds a bit because I cannot say enough good things about Emerald! They are simply the best, will treat your loved one the best and will make you feel part of them as they are truly one big family. I will be forever grateful to them!!!!
