My mom's experience at Arbor Village has been top notch! Mom has lived at other independent living places in town and Arbor Village is on par or above the industry standard in many ways in this price range. Mary and Jason have been very easy to communicate with and have explained the services offered. It is not a memory care place or for someone who needs high level hospital care. Mom is thriving in the active and beautiful community that Arbor Village provides. It has recently been remodeled in the latest decor and colors. Every room has a patio or deck and most look out to private open areas with mature trees or shrubbery. Mom loves the kitchenette that has a pony wall to separate it from the living space and HUGE walk in pantry/storage space. The handy man on the staff was quick to help mom make her room a home. When mom was having trouble adjusting on her first day, a friendly staff member introduced her to a group of ladies. To my surprise, mom has already found a good friend and has settled in nicely thanks to the attentive staff. The activity directors are helpful and happy people who have created a fun environment for clients to meet others and join in on daily activities. Monthly calendars and daily activities are posted and given to residents in newsletters. Mom appreciates intercom announcements so that she doesn't miss anything and stays informed of the events. They even have events on the weekends and not every facility does that. Mom is an active senior and loves to join in on games, parties, musical presentations, competitions, movies and happy hour. They are constantly adding new things to accommodate each residents feedback. Residents can earn Arbor Bucks and this encourages participation. Then Arbor Bucks can be exchanged for prizes. Mom loves to go on the bus to go shopping or on an adventure every week. I appreciate that they will take her to appointments if I'm not available. Mom reports that the bus driver is extremely kind and gives compassionate and joyful attention to everyone. Resident services have been excellent. My mom does not need assistance at this time, but we know that service is available when the time comes. She does get in house physical therapy to help with core strength to improve her mobility. Mom looks forward to these sessions and she refers to her PT as her personal trainer. They plan on walking to the nearby grocery store together. Arbor Village washes each resident's clothes separately and returns them neatly folded. They have a weekly room cleaning service. The chef and kitchen staff are friendly and attentive. The lunch in the private dining room that my mom and I enjoyed when we toured was excellent. Every employee at Arbor Village works hard to improve the quality of life of their residents. Recently I hosted a 90th birthday party for mom with the 5 star help of Arbor Village's culinary director and chef Ariel. We gathered on the sunny patio and each guest was given a menu with colored pictures to choose from. Considering the ages of the guests that were very young to " young at heart", we appreciated the colored pictures to choose our menu items. They even have a salad bar available which is not always offered at other places. Ariel stayed ready to help with everything that we needed for the duration of our 3 hour party. Drinks, cups, plates, second servings were offered and delivered promptly and cheerfully. She even helped a guest with programing her phone! I call this a five star experience from top to bottom and mom has memories to last a life time. My mother and I have received exemplary care and communication from the top management and all the staff members at Arbor Village at Hillcrest Senior Living. My mom says that she thinks that people who work at Arbor Village like their jobs because they are happy and collaborate together to make Arbor Village a good experience for all that live there. We are so glad that we found this gem right here in Boise, Idaho.

It was a difficult choice to make that was made easier by the warm, friendly folks who operate this facility. Having to choose where your loved ones will spend their life outside of caring family on a daily basis isn't an easy, or welcome task. The woman, Mary, who provided us with a tour of the facility was prompt and knowledgeable about any aspect we had questions about. I walked away feeling like we made the right choice. Thank you folks for the continuing care and community you provide for your residents, aka our loved ones.

This community has a wonderful robust activity calendar for their residents and the apartments are nice and spacious. Staff is always welcoming.

I am updating my review AGAIN because this facility has been sold AGAIN and has a new manager AGAIN. My mom lives here. Good value and that's hard to find these days. A nice and diverse group of residents so there is a compatible friend for anyone seeking companionship here. Larger than average room size. Great location! Staff turnover continues to be a big problem, but the staff s nice and kind to the residents- the facility is just horribly understaffed. I was displeased that they did not honor previous management's promise to my mom that they would not raise her rent because she absolutely cannot afford it and people should keep promises made to vulnerable elderly. Food is gawd-awful. They have recently remodeled so the place is much, much nicer now than it was before. They have gotten a permit from the City of Boise (you can google this) to turn the place into regular apartments although they tell the residents they are going to keep the elderly assisted living apartments going. If you decide to move someone in here, get EVERY SINGLE THING THEY STATE VERBALLY OR PROMISE YOU IN WRITING,

I moved here in April because I knew some of the people that worked there and knew it was a good fit for me. We have the same problems due to staffing and the issues surrounded by COVID like other places but they are trying to alleviate the problem. I have a beautiful room, a beautiful patio, and lots to do with fun activities! It's a great place to live!

Hands-down the best senior living facility in all of the treasure Valley. I will not take my parents anywhere else. They have an extraordinary amazing staff of directors who really care and treat the residents like they are family and that they are working in their home. I have known Jim the executive director for over six years and he is an amazing executive director for assisted-living he puts his passion into every facility hes worked at and you can definitely see it in the residence and in the building as well as the staff who love to work with him.

Walking into an upbeat friendly environment I knew my mom would feel safe and secured. Her second week in she was very happy with the decision and the transition from her old home to her new home has been quite easy because how the staff handled her transition into the facility.

This place is a wonderful home to not only residents, but family and friends. My grandma lives there,and we havent had any reason to complain. The staff is great,goes above and beyond to care for her needs. They make it feel just like home, we love it. The facility itself is well kept, very clean, environment is healthy. The activity director provides many funfilled trips to different places and activities for my grandmother to do, she loves her bingo...Id advise this place to everyone!!!

The staff at Hillcrest is amazing! Its a very different atmosphere then other assisted livings my parents have been at. Its very resident care focused as opposed to being all about the money. I feel like the staff and the management team really care about my parents well being and about me and my family also. The nursing department is always available to speak to me and my parents about any health concerns and always see to it that they are addressed quickly. The kitchen team is wonderful and my parents state they feel like they are eating at home in their house instead of an assisted living. The kitchen manger is always up for suggestions! I would recommend hillcrest to anyone looking for an assisted living for their parents.

I am not a guy who is easily impressed. Push me in the right direction, and I will give you a less than courteous, forthright response to any situation or environment. When it comes to care and compassion of those most in need of assistance, I will not hold my tongue to spare feelings or boost ratings when it comes to human lives.Excellence is not something that the staff of Hillcrest Assisted Living (H.A.L.) strives to achieve. Its the norm here. In fact, it is so normal to provide and receive excellent care at this living facility that it gets boring. The residents however, never seem to get bored, or tire of it.I am on the call list for an older friend that is a resident at H.A.L. Two days ago I received a call that he was ill. I drove in from out of state and joined my friends other two friends who live in Boise (Non-H.A.L. residents) to be by his side.Because I am from out of town, the administrator of H.A.L. offered to put me in the guest accommodation, when I mentioned I would be in town one more night and day for my friendThe staff here provide the residents with 24-hour care. They are genuinely friendly and compassionate. In the near 48 hours I have been here, I have witnessed acts of caring among residents, and staff alike.There is a convenient store style snack, drinks, nutrition bar available to the residents, staff, and guests of H.A.L. available at no cost, 24 hours a day.There is no pomp and circumstance. The residents choose the staff person of the month. The facilities are clean. The guest accommodations are modest, just as the residents apartments, but they are comfortable, and feel like a home away from home.The most productive aspect of this residential facility is there is no use of bureaucratic Cover your ass red tape. If there are mistakes, the administrators find out, who, what and why, and take responsibility for the actions of their staff, and themselves. I had a first-hand front row experience, this week. (I might note that the mistake made with my friend was an outside source, but the administrators started in-house. and within half an hour, the issue was understood and resolved.)My friend is one of the most difficult to impress men I have ever met. He appreciates and values hard work, integrity, cleanliness, and the real side of human nature. He is not impressed with anyone who feels the need to sport showmanship just for appearance. He loves it here and has for two years. That is all the review or testimony I need to hear to be convinced. But to see and experience it with my senses.t is important to note that at this time, no one, neither staff, or residents of H.A.L. know of my occupation, or about this review. I was not asked, nor have I been compensated in anyway to review this facility. My review is 100% based on a first-hand perspective, and second-hand understanding via the words and actions of the people whose very lives are impacted every single day in this facility.Its true - you cant always judge based on what you read. Experience it for yourself before you believe every review you read here. As a photojournalist, its my job to tell the truth. This place is amazing and worth a tour if you (or a loved one) are in the market for assisted living. The residents here are happy and will tell you when you ask them. The food is great and there are activities happening all the time to keep this place vibrant. Hillcrest is exemplary.
