Woodleaf Senior Care Recommendation by Nancy Gardner (resident) As a senior survivor after the passing of my husband, I realized that I needed assistance with activities of daily living. Since I have lived in Thomasville, Georgia for fifty-four years, I knew that I wanted to stay in my home community and so I began to research the local assisted living options. After evaluating four local facilities, I concluded that Woodleaf Senior Care was the right choice for me. I have not regretted that decision for one minute. The following reasons support my conclusion that Woodleaf Senior Care was the right place for me to call home. First and foremost is that the administration and personnel are a (five-star) caring and compassionate group of caregivers. Additionally, the residents are friendly and welcoming, creating a compatible community in which it was easy to feel comfortable. The facility itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and inviting. There is a Southern-style front porch with rockers and ceiling fans that invite residents to spend time outdoors fellowshipping and enjoying pleasant mornings and afternoons. A butterfly garden in the central courtyard is filled with many varieties of blooming flowers, trees, and shrubs, all surrounding a lovely fountain. The activities director coordinates many opportunities for residents to interact, fellowship, and develop new interests and talents, or just play. Some activities include: bingo and other table games, movies with refreshments, weekly fellowship hour, arts and crafts, daily devotions, and exercise opportunities. I have especially appreciated having my deluxe apartment and the ability to furnish it with my own personal furnishings. It makes me feel very much "at home". Woodleaf Senior Care gives me a sense of community and "family", while also providing me with a sense of safety, knowing that a team of caring personnel are available "at the touch of a button", 24 hours a day, if I need them.

Woodleaf is a home away from home. After touring around Thomasville, you will only find this feel of home at Woodleaf Senior Living. When you walk in the front door, the ambience is like no other in Thomasville. You will be greeted by friendly people who genuinely hope that you will join us at Woodleaf. A grand piano and grandfather clock stand guard in the foyer. The grandfather clock chimes on the hour faithfully to remind everyone "he" is doing his job.A beautiful living room is furnished as your home might be....sofas, upholstered chairs, mahogany furniture. There is also a separate private dining area for time or meals with family and guests. Throughout the building you will find large beautiful framed pictures much of the outdoors and nature. And in the center of this, is a beautiful butterfly garden. The entire property is well landscaped and maintained. You will be comfortable and excited to know that you will be living in a place much like your own home. Come join us at Woodleaf and enjoy life to the fullest.

This is a very difficult time to help a loved one move to assisted living but the staff at Woodleaf are trying so hard to help us all and keep us safe. We appreciate the warm smiles and helpful, always cheerful greetings-I feel that the care is very personal.The small size and low turnover of staff and residents makes it easy to know everyone and know how to ask for help. I really feel the benefit of this consistency. I thank everyone for their hard work and love.

The residents thrive in this environment and atmosphere because they know someone is there 24/7 to help them if needed. My late mother-in-law called Woodleaf home and now my precious Mother calls it home too.

My siblings and I knew the inevitable day had arrived and mother must have assistance after staying in her home of 56 years. Mother lived by herself, yet was 65 miles from the closest of her children. When we began looking for potential assisted living, we wanted a place where we as siblings could be involved. Living in rural southwest Georgia we knew our options were limited, yet we were confident a true leap of faith was eminent. After several weeks of travel, researching, talking to residents of different facilities, and evaluation; we were confident we had found a new home for our 96 year young mother. Although she is in her late nineties, she walked daily; the equivalent of four miles each week. She is active socially, enjoys trivia, competition games and singing, church services, close interaction with people; yet, her privacy is high on the list. We siblings were sold on Woodleaf shortly after meeting Margaret and spending a few minutes in what became Mother's home for three of the happiest years of her life. Mother made new friends while developing true relationships based on trust and a genuine expression of love from all of the staff. Mother could choose to be actively involved in a diverse selection of planned activities too ingenious, like balloon tennis where residents sit yet maneuver a balloon across a net with flyswatters. My sister inquired after only a few weeks, "How old do you have to be to qualify to live here?" Card games, jeopardy, trivia, exercise, singing, and events would happen both planned and spontaneous that kept residents on their "P's and Q's" as mother would say. Guest speakers, talented musicians, day and evening events catering to family involvement are highly anticipated by all aware from personal experience or word-of-mouth. Speaking of catering, there was seldom outside food brought in because Steve and his staff need no outside interference. The food is second to none. There were professionally prepared dishes always fresh and varied, and desserts to test the strongest of will. Service around the table is more than what you would expect but is routine at Woodleaf. Mutual respect is woven in the culture at Woodleaf. We wanted to know the staff and them know us. After all, we are each vested in my dear mother's care. The staff at Woodleaf are genuine and reveal a sincere concern for their friends (residents) ..... wanting for them the best environment. We were always amazed at how organized yet pleasant everyone is. As I review what I have written, my tenses may be confusing. Mother has since passed away, and we will always have a special place in our hearts for Woodleaf and the faces and hearts that are Woodleaf. In my mind's eye, I can see mother engaged and smiling, laughing happily while at home on Pinetree Blvd. in Thomasville.

My mom, Johnnie Martin, has been a resident at Woodleaf for the past couple of months. We have been delighted by the care she has received. The excellent care was demonstrated just 2 days ago when my mom had an unfortunate fall. She was taken by ambulance to the ER where she experienced 7 hours of CT scans, x-rays, lab work and then an hours worth of intricate facial suturing. Needless to say 85 yr old my mom was terribly traumatized by all this. Fortunately she sustained only generalized bruising and the facial laceration. The beautiful part of this whole experience happened when I returned her to her home at Woodleaf. She was lovingly received by her caregiver named Veronica. Veronica took over and gathered my mother and led her to her room so gently. It was if an angel had hold of Mama. I left her in good hands that evening! What a blessing after our harrowing hours in the ER.

My Mom lived with us for 2 years after a fall. Although I am a physician, I learned during that time that she was not getting the care she needed from us. With 2 young kids, we were rarely at home. She also did not have social interactions during the day that helped make her quality of life better. Of course the move was a transition. It took about 6 mths for her to be completely comfortable in her surroundings. That is true in any situation. Woodleaf made it as easy as possible. She is very happy and thinks of many of the staff and residents as close friends and family. Luckily we live in town and visit her often. Many residents have family far away, but Woodleaf makes their days special and gives everyone a place called home.

My father has maintained a ferocious independence his entire life. Shortly before his 92nd birthday, that independence was placed in jeopardy due to a fall at home resulting in broken ribs. With resigned reluctance, he moved temporarily into Woodleaf to ensure he had the care he needed while undergoing physical therapy. As he began his recovery, it became clear to all it simply would not be safe for him to continue living alone and he became a resident. The truth is, we didn't realize how much he needed assistance in day to day activities, simply because he would never allow anyone to help him - until he had no choice. Having to make decisions regarding the care of our parents is difficult, under the best of circumstances. For anyone going through that process you should know Woodleaf Senior Care is not some "old folk's home" - it feels more like a luxury hotel, or a five-star cruise. I could share about the beautiful facility, the amazing chef and fine dining, an activities director that keeps the entire place smiling and hustling, the "top shelf" (and I do mean TOP SHELF!) care staff, or the very professional and thorough management team. But those are not the most important things for my family. The most important aspect of Woodleaf for us is the fact that living there is allowing my father to maintain his sense of independence. Woodleaf Senior Care is assisted living, providing as much assistance as needed while still challenging him and allowing him to do all he can. My father is able to enjoy feeling his independence, while the family rests easy knowing he is constantly monitored and has all of the care he needs, with extra assistance available at a moment's notice, day and night. Without doubt, he is enjoying his highest quality of life, coupled with his highest level of independence possible. I would add that within just a few months at Woodleaf, he looks better and sounds better than he has in years!

Woodleaf Community in Thomasville is a place to call home! The Staff is caring, friendly and accommodating. Everyone including the chef, housekeeping, care staff, and the friendly front desk personnel takes a team approach in working to make Woodleaf a special place. Management is very involved with day to day activity and maintains a welcoming and professional environment. I feel confident that my Mom is surrounded by loving and caring people.
