Both my parents, Alice and Herbert Hendley were at the Oaks for a few years before I moved them in 2022 to be closer to me. There are some very dedicated, kind and caring folks, who do their best with the situation given. That said, I would urge anyone who decides to place an aging family member at the Oaks to be sure to put cameras in all the rooms and make sure all jewelry is kept in a safe. My brother was in charge and these things which were not taken care of. As a result, when I moved my mom and dad, there was no sign of any of my mother's fine jewelry. It was all gone!! My father expressly stated he wanted to be buried with his wedding ring but even that was missing. I think it is absolutely appalling that these treasures they worked all their lives to obtain were taken from them. They both passed away within months of moving to their new location and I miss them terribly.

The Oaks at Oakland Plantation is a wonderful place. We moved my mom here after having countless issues at The Phoenix in Albany. It was the best move we could’ve made. All of the directors and management are on the ball and they genuinely care. Amy was wonderful to deal with. She really helped us make the transition and she answered when we couldn’t get in touch with anyone else. Some of the nicest people you can meet work at The Oaks and the entire facility is in great condition. Thanks for everything! Ryan & Dylan Layfield

My experience touring the Oaks at Oakland Plantation was nothing short of amazing! Amy did a fabulous job showing us around and spent a lot of time making sure that all of our questions were answered. Amy is the epitome of customer service and has such a kind heart towards the elderly. Even though the Oaks won't work for my father's needs, Amy took the time out of her weekend to stop by and visit with my father at the rehab facility and took him his favorite home-cooked meal of rutabagas. He was in heaven! Not many people would go to such lengths to visit with someone they don't know. Amy goes above and beyond in her role and is a true asset to any organization that is lucky enough to have her on board.

I highly recommend Oaks at Oakland Plantation. My mom and Dad have lived there for a number of years, Mom died last winter, and the staff was so helpful in her last days. In fact they have been consistently helpful to my dad, too. He is now in Memory Care and is more happy than I’ve seen him in years. Thanks to everyone at Oaks. I couldn’t care for Dad without you.

My mother has been a resident of the Oaks for the last 18 months and the experience has been nothing short of wonderful! The staff truly love the residents and treat them as family. They go above and beyond to make them happy. Even with COVID the management and staff have done everything in their power to balance safety with the needs of residents to stay connected with family. They have been very accommodating with visits on the porch. The food at the Oaks is very good and they have excellent in-house physical therapy. There are social activities almost daily that allow the residents to get out of their rooms and see other people. It is really a great place and I am so fortunate my mother there!

My mother moved in a year ago, and we are so pleased with our decision to move her here. The staff has been wonderful in helping her with her day to day activities. They always are planning activities for the residents to do, and they have been so diligent in the care of the residents during this Covid crisis.

The decision to move my mother from independent living in Spearfish, SD to The Oaks was not entered into lightly. Two years with very hard winters later we made the move- best decision ever! The entire staff from administration to wellness team to activities director to food preparation/ presentation to physical therapy and occupational therapy to maintenance and housekeeping has been overwhelmingly kind and attentive. What an incredible team!! Each and every member has made us feel like family- no greater gift than this.
