Everyone I spoke with was friendly, professional, and willing to answer any questions I had. You can tell the staff genuinely care about the people who live there, and that makes all the difference. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a place for a family member.

My mom has now been in the Memory Care facility of Harbor Chase for 1 year. Prior to this she was in 2 other memory and assisted living facility in Sarasota. This place has been a great home and relief for my mom and us. The Staff are all wonderful and June the Director of Memory Care is absolutely awesome, she really takes time with all the residents and is involved with them and helps her team out as well. The Food is really good here not hot dogs and chicken tenders.soup, salads, main and deserts. They have lots of events and activities. The Facility is very clean and well maintained. There are 2 outdoor areas for Memory. I really feel comfortable with my mom at this location.

Update: Still much nicer than other places I have been to in FL. Staff, if anything, are even nicer and more involved with the residents. Older: Her POA finally allowed us to move my sister from a nearby facility to HarborChase. Maybe it's because how awful the other place was that this place shines in comparison. The biggest downside is that too many of the staff don't seem to speak any English. Maybe not too bad for dementia residents that often don't understand anyway, but there are some residents that do want to talk in English. The good side: 1. Doesn't smell bad like the last place my sister was at. Seemed relatively clean in the spaces we visited. 2. The staff was friendly and generally helpful. I only saw one person staring at their phone, and that person may have been doing it for work. 3. Many residents were being engaged by the staff. Yes, some were not engaged, but that may be that they are past that. 4. Residents had food choices. Well, one person told me that he hated soup and was tired of eating it all the time. And then he was given soup. But . . . he ate it 🙂 5. I will be visiting again in October. I will update with long-term experience then.

Visited last July and toured with Brian in sales. Loved it and was at the point of making it home, and then at home an accident happened where I chipped 3 teeth and broke one. I made Brian aware, and he'd email and check in on me. Fast-forward a few weeks into August, and I see he has left the company. In the first week of Sept, I called and spoke to Doreen, expressed my interest, and introduced myself. 7 or 8 weeks go by, putting us in mid-November, and finally an email from her. I explained I was incapacitated as I had a stomach virus, which was known to cause stomach cancer, and was going through treatment but was still interested. Around this time, it was near Thanksgiving, and, mind you, there were 0 phone calls from her, so I reached out to Barclay of Sarasota. I continued with physical therapy through Christmas, since I have been bedridden since early November. January came and got an email from Doreen, where she said she'd love to talk. She had 4 months and made 0. I told her I would be visiting Barclay and went over figures from when Brian was there. She never responded back. I really like HarborChase, but when you're in sales and there are 0 phone calls (other than 1 I made), that says it all. I love Justin and Cheryl there. After my tour with Barclay, I wanted to compare #s. I can compare, so it looks like I'll be going to Barclay of Sarasota. All in all, I could have called, but if you want my $$$ she should make a call or 2.

The staff at Harbor Chase actually listened to me and have worked, and continue working with her to build trust. Just visited my mom here and the smell of urine in the hallways so strong. No helpful or friendly staff to be found. Just a dismissive RCN. I know it's a tough job, and this is probably the best place in Srq, but makes me so sad. Very slick sales office but a lot of over promise and under perform across the board. From food to care. Just found out that was the head nurse. that's really not good

I think the most difficult decision I had to ever make was- where to place my husband when he deteriorated to where I knew I could no longer safely care for him at home. I am so grateful to Harbor Chase for many, many reasons:1 They go the extra mile Knowing that my husband loves music they wheel him to assisted living for any musical performance 2: The place is cheerfully decorated and smells like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies 3 The food is really good ! They have a seriously good chef4 The director of memory care June Plumb is always available to answer texts with any concerns 5 Most importantly with any more serious medical concerns they are on it My husband was taken to a hospital ASAP when bleeding. A chest x ray was done in house.A nurse appears promptly -and a good one -when requested. 6 My husband is treated with the kindness,dignity and the respect he deserves. 7 They are responsive to concerns . I requested more music and I got more music 8: Their staff is dedicated and works well as ateam.Justin handels billing concerns promptly . The icing on the cake is Cheryl -a Juliard trained pianist who often entertains and always watches over the residents like a hawk!Antonia -of Maintenance -does a really good job of handling practical concerns . He personally painted Lances room the colors I have at home and did a beautiful job.Veronica puts her whole heart and soul into her job! My wife and I started to contemplate moving my 91 year old mother from central Pennsylvania to Sarasota as she had a fall and we could no longer justify her living at home with an occasional caretaker. We vetted about a dozen assisted living facilities in Sarasota and HarborChase stood out as a warm and inviting environment, which is like nothing we had yet experienced. As we began to vet HarborChase, we were struct by our random resident interviews. The residents we spoke with always said the staff was caring, activities were robust and, the food is great. From the first meeting with Brian, a followup meeting with Veronica, Cheryl with lifestyle fulfillment and head nurses on staff as well as all the one on one resident staff, we were very impressed. Having to place a loved on into an assisted care facility proved to be emotionally challenging, however, the process with HarborChase provided us with the confidence to entrust my Mom into their care. Our Aunt is in the memory care unit at Harborchase of Sarasota. We are extremely happy about the attention she receives from the entire staff. Communication has been very good since she arrived in May. They ask detailed questions about the individual to try and make them comfortable. Memory needs are a challenging group and the staff do an excellent job directing this group. I can see how kind they treat everyone. Also, passing through to the Assisted Living side, I had the pleasure of attending a concert one afternoon. The staff were cheerful and helped to make the event a success for all. I can see that outside events are planned, if the residents want to attend. The food prepared looks delicious. If I have any concerns, nursing has been quick to provide assistance. We are very happy with our choice to use Harborchase!

The people at Harbor Chase are wonderful. When my mother in law needed more help than we were able to provide at her own house, Harbor Chase was able to make a safe and caring home for her. The dietary aids, the nursing staff, the enrichment staff were all top notch. The dining facilities and choices of menu items are excellent. There is no perfect place but lots to like here overall. A great core group having longevity working here. Jacque and Kristina are receptive, caring and approachable. Debbie is an outstanding nurse, Loritza is a great liaison in memory care. She is an asset with communication and coordinating care routines with the care givers. Patty wears a lot of hats overseeing the residents that are more functioning. Michelle has returned to the facility into a newer role in the kitchen and she shines there. Justin overseas billing. He listens and is responsive. Heather and Jerry work lots of long days administering medications. Monica and Rosa are outstanding day in and day out caring for my mom. I'm sure I am missing many more names. The cord that is consistent here is compassion. Compassion and friendliness starts at the front door and is evident from a special diet needed, laundry, room cleaning, to a repair in the room. Assisted living overall is a hard choice to find yourself having to decide on. Memory care even more difficult. I wish this place was much closer to my home, that I had better access all hours to my loved one, that they had more staff to resident ratio, that our bill would quit increasing. With all that said if you are having to make the tough choice for yourself or a loved one they will be safe and cared for here.

I love this place! I had the opportunity to tour this state of the art facility. From the moment I entered the beautiful reception area, I was met with friendly competent staff. Ursula was so helpful and informative. You can tell this staff really cares about the residents and the facility. They add their personal touches to everything they do. It really feels like a warm caring environment, just like home. With my medical background, I had certain standards which needed to be met. In fact, they surpassed my expectations. All my questions were answered and my fears allayed. The food was delicious. They even have a putting green! They thought of everything. I have no reservations about having my parents live at HarborChase of Sarasota! 2022- We just moved my mother-in-law in to Harbor Chase of Sarasota. Everyone here has been so warm and helpful. They have made this an easy decision. We couldn't have done it without Jackie's help! She has been amazing! Laritza has taken such good care of her! We can sleep well knowing she is safe and well cared for in memory care. We can't thank the whole team enough for everything they do!

All too often, the internet, phone, &/or TV services are not working at this facility. On top of covid-induced limitations, this further limits a resident’s ability to connect & communicate with her/his outside world & support persons. Less than ideal for already frail elderly persons. Pretty surroundings don’t get it’ when one can’t effectively be in touch!

As a widow living alone in a large split-level house for several years, my Mother became aware she could no longer maintain herself and we began the search for an adult living community. We chose the HarborChase for its proximity to all needed facilities, plus it was centrally located for her family to visit. We were amazed how well she has adjusted to her new life when she moved in. Even now, at 93, she has never been in better health or better spirits. She enjoys her daily activities and all the new friends she has made. Her great grand children thinks she lives in a palace and they are not far wrong. HarborChase is clean, accommodating and thoroughly dedicated to the welfare of their patrons. Best of all, we know Mom is still independent while under excellent care.

On a recent unplanned visit to Harbor Chase, I was so impressed with the beauty of the building, the layouts of the apartments and the friendly staff. From the moment I walked through the front door, I was greeted with friendly smiling staff. Seeing the residents doing activities or just hanging out and watching TV gave me the feeling that this was a place I would feel comfortable having a loved-one or myself reside. My sister, who had a degenerative disease, lived for almost two years at HarborChase. She recently died, and we so appreciated the facility's flexibility in allowing us family members to be by her side at the end. In her last days, many staff members, from all departments, stopped by to say goodbye, and we had the sense that people knew her and cared for her as an individual. Over the years, we had some frustrations, mostly with insufficient communication from management and very spotty WiFi and tech connections. An iPad and a lamp disappeared from her apartment. But through this very trying pandemic, we felt she was in a safe place, and HarborChase came through on the big things, the things that mattered most.

Today I waited an hour and a half for supper and when it came to my room (I’m in quarantine) it was cold. Thirty to forty-five minute waits are standard. My medication at times is late or wrong. Once my room was overrun with ants. I complained for two weeks and my son called to demand action. Finally they sprayed. The man spraying implied that I had ants because I left dirty dishes in the sink. Watch out! This place looks fine on the surface but I can’t wait to get out. I’m finally leaving this place tomorrow. Just to underscore the serious problems here, for the last five weekends in a row I have not been given my early morning medication. Neither have scores of other patients, yet they still charge about $700 for medication management every month in addition to the standard monthly rate. Dinners in the dining room very often entail a 30 to 50 minute wait because they are under staffed. At least once a week I don’t get what I ordered. People have friends or family give them food to eat in their rooms because of this problem. I could easily continue the list of problems, but you get the idea. The higher ups in the staff just brush off complaints. Don’t send helpless older people to Harbor Chase!

The room size is perfect for what she needs. The staff are always so nice and willing to help. The food is delicious and there is always something for her to do. The facility is clean and well kept. Harbor Chase took care of my mother for almost 3 years, until her recent passing. We were very pleased with their care and their love for mom. She was in their memory care area. The memory care area is exactly what dementia patients need, while also providing the extensive care that this disease requires as they progress. We will always be very thankful for Laritza, Brenda, and their staff. We liked the smaller, quaint, home like environment of this facility. Everyone who visited mom was very impressed, as it is more like an upscale hotel than an assisted living facility. Many of the staff was there the full 3 years - they have some very dedicated staff. We cannot thank them enough for their love, care, and help they provided to our family.

I visited a friend here recently and thought it was a lovely place to live. It's very sunny and new, with nice guests, nice staff. I thought the lunch was good as well, and very convenient for guests and visitors.
