My favorite part about Jenny is how she truly listens, shows confidence and compassion, and how clearly you can see her dedication to both her team and the wonderful people who live here. I’d like to recognize Sara, the activities/recreation leader in the Garden for going above and beyond to comfort my mom and I during a tough time for her. Johnna made my dad feel as if this was the absolute right place for him! She made him feel so secure that the staff is wonderful, and very important that the food is good! My Mom has been at this facility for several months now. . I must say, it is BY FAR one of the best facilities in all of SW Florida! The woman who took us on the original tour was very professional and I knew her biggest concern was to make sure my Mom would be happy there. She went above and beyond to help us through this transition period for my Mom. I didn't know at the time, but the same lovely woman who took us on our tour is also sometimes the entertainment on many occasions. I felt like I was at a broadway show! Lots of activities for the residents and great entertainment. The rooms are kept very clean, the staff is wonderful and the food is great. I know I can leave to go up for a few months without stress or worrying about Mom being well cared for. We toured several other places before we found Truewood in Charlotte Center and we knew when we walked in for the first time this would be "home" for Mom. A big THANK YOU to all the staff and management at Truewood Charlotte Center! My Mom is a very happy camper!! So am I!

My x-husband has been a resident at Truewood for about 3 years. I am his advocate for care as I live nearby. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks then transferred to Rehab. He was ready to return to Truewood memory care on Friday. To say the least the Rehab was not very helpful getting the paperwork sent for me to pick him up and bring him back home to Truewood. They delayed the paperwork till after admission time and time to order his weekend meds had expired. However Truewood staff worked after hours to make sure Bill was accepted back home safely. This was on a Friday when admission on the weekend was not possible. They told me to bring him home and they would work out the details of admission. This was doing the right thing above and beyond to make sure Bill got safely admitted. I went to the Mother’s Day tea during a visit with my mother-in-law. She is in the memory care unit at Truewood on Cochran in Port Charlotte. I loved the use of balloons to create an elegant entry to the tea party. The tables were decorated with a cute setting of special tea cups and dessert plates. Treats included pastries, fresh fruits, hot and cold beverages. Destiny organized the event, and I want to thank her for a wonderful afternoon. Linda Brenner

My mom started out in independent living and is now in memory care. I checked out many places prior to moving her here. But there were 3 people that made my decision easy. One was Susan (she was the head nurse - no longer there), Carla at the front desk, and the other was Johnna Bolender who is the Community Relations Director. Three things that stuck out to me about Johnna was her focus on the well being of the residents, the staff - since having a strong team is crucial the she knows the regulations that the State holds you to. My mother had a 2 month stay there because I had to leave to sell a house back in Alaska where we were originally from. They took great care of Mom and her safety was of great concern. She loved the meals there. She was glad to get back home, of course, but I never once worried about her safety or Level of concerned care at Truwood. I looked at several homes before choosing this one, and their security sold me. Samantha at the front desk is a stellar employee! She was always helpful and welcoming.

This past summer (2021), my sister and I knew that Mom (92) and Dad (94) needed to move into an assisted living facility. My sister had talked with Johnna a while ago so I was very pleased when I received a call from her. From our very first conversation, I knew that Johnna would do everything she could to get the assistance that Mom and Dad needed. Mom was the first to go to Truewood and has made many friends and is quite happy to be in a nice place and having all her needs met. Dad was at another facility and Johnna and Sue worked tirelessly to have him transferred to Truewood Charlotte Center where both Mom and Dad receive the assistance they need and can be together again. It is never an easy decision to place loved ones in an assisted living facility, but it is comforting to know that our parents are being cared for by people who care about them and provide the best of care in clean and attractive surroundings. Thank you, Johnna, Sue, and all the support staff for being so compassionate and taking such good care of Mom and Dad.

In August of this year, my Mom (91) was living with me and was becoming depressed and forgetful. I thought it would be good for her to get into an Adult Living Facility to have friends her own age. This was the best thing that we did. She has her own condo room, they take care of her meds and she has done a complete turn around. The whole place is extremely clean. The staff are so courteous and helpful. She now has a purpose to get up early and have her meals with the other residents. If you are looking for a Super place for your loved one, I would highly recommend Village Place (aka) Truewood by Merrill, Charlotte Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. There's several things that are going wrong with this. 1. Management team is awful. They don't communicate with the families, they treat other employees like dirt. They don't know how to talk to their caregivers. Specifically the Executive Director. 2. I gave it two stars because House Keeping, Nursing Staff and some of the caregivers go beyond for residents. The Wellness Director knows what she is doing and genuinely care for the residents. Caregivers always have a smile on their face. I'm told by my Mother that one of the House Keepers keep up with the room, they're friendly and enjoy talking to her. 3. Memory Care unit is phenomenal, they had activities, the whole staff is on if there was cleaning or taking care of the residents. Nursing Staff and House Keeping keep up the best work!

A wonderfully diverse place to live, no large dining room but rather each floor has it's own personal dining room, where residents can enjoy there dinner with residents of there own floor and not strain to hear each other. The lobby has a beautiful piano and the decorations are just stunning. The staff is so friendly and kind and knows every residents name they take time to really touch there lives, I've even seen them playing on the Wii with residents. The rooms all have windows to allow for light and the courtyards are so we'll maintained and full of life. The nursing team really works hard to take care of not just your parents but also you allowing for utter peace of mind they even have a memory care unit that way residents can stay with the team as their altimerzers progress rather than ship them off I love the stability. Can't say enough about this place love it for my mom.
