The staff is great, the added security of locked doors was acceptable for people who tend to wander or feel uncomfortable and just walk away. Unfortunately, the owner has truly disappointed me with her unprofessionalism as I would call it. This is an email to her that explains my true disappointment. I only want to clarify my frustration this morning. You were unprofessional in your approach of the concern that you expressed to me at 4pm on Friday evening via phone call. 1st My mom's doctor prescribed an over the counter medication that we currently use at home which is why I brought them in today. You felt the need to educate me that I buy them over the counter as if I didn't understand that much. That was a hostile statement to me. 2nd The way you approached me, in front of my mom, as if you told me she couldn't come back until after she sees the doctor and MUST be on a prescribed med before she returns was unacceptable. Your body language at the door was a "do not enter stance" until I showed you a bottle of medication of some sorts you were stopping us from entering. This action made my mom even more uncomfortable to enter your facility and I removed her for that reason alone. Your actions guaranteed an adverse feeling from a dementia patient with me also feeling she isn't in a safe environment for me to leave her in. I am learning and attempting my best effort to understand my mom's needs and moods and you in no way made me feel comfortable that you were understanding anymore. It would've been appreciated if you would have clearly said that her actions during her sundowning was not what your facility could handle and if she wasn't medicated to control them you couldn't accept her as a client. I am a straight forward person and pacifying a situation isn't tolerable. Thirdly, in my critique you need to understand every race, gender, or person doesn't go through dementia the same and if your facility isn't crossed trained or equipped for that then say so immediately when an issue arises, don't pacify it. As a teacher would need to adapt to the different personalities in a clas I hoped that you would be able to help devise a plan for my Mother's sundowning needs.. I understand safety for your workers, so I am all for a plan and making sure they are safe.. I also demand respect due to caregivers at their time of need and the stress you caused me this morning wasn't appreciated. It is hard enough to care for my mother at this time. Lastly, receiving a call from my sister in the middle of me typing this was a nail in the coffin for your personality in my opinion. From her statement to me you assumed that I was upset for lack of support and somehow "took it out on you"! Laughable that you would imply that to her. Our situation was clear this morning you alone with your do not enter stance made me and my mom feel uncomfortable that she was no longer in a safe environment. Your condescending remark abount me holding over the counter meds in my hands that I obviously purchased over the counter is why I am upset, disappointed and not using your facility anymore. I hope you have clarity now! Disappointedly, Just a daughter.
