I’m posting this review in hopes it will promote positive change in the care of the residents in this facility. Certainly not to slander. We need to do better for our elderly loved ones. My loved one was there only briefly as what we were pitched is not the care that was received and we removed him as quickly as we could. As we all know, this is a business. Money is to be made and with that understood, the cost vs care is beyond lopsided. After finding my father’s full sized window on the 3rd floor able to be opened with no screen or any safeguard in place, they nailed it shut. After that, the only thing I can say positive about the facility is he was safe from physical harm, fed, and his bedsheets were changed frequently. The hands on care was nonexistent. Often upon arrival of my visit, there was no staff to be seen for up to 15minutes. Literally, couldn’t find anyone on the memory care floor. Another visit, a staff member was asleep in the residents common area. Another event, after he had an accident and needed to be cleaned, as my sister informed a “caregiver” she said she was in the middle of something else. 20 minutes later my sister cleaned him herself and the staff never came back to inquire. I found prescription pills on the floor of his room multiple times. Two integral things were not accomplished, properly administering his medication‘s and keeping him clean. Some things can’t be helped on a dementia floor as they wander. I am a reasonable person, in healthcare myself and understand this. It is my opinion the facility is understaffed and the caregivers on the floor not qualified or conscientious. They sure do have the sales pitch down. They’ve got to do better. Please take a long hard look Mr. Parkinson and put the much needed changes in place in your memory care facility.

This review is based on the care or lack thereof for my father who stayed one month at the Lorelton in the Memory Care Facility. Our family was horrified by he way our father was treated. He was never showered, prescription meds were not properly stored or administered and he was constantly in soiled pants. On top of the lack of care, there are no Covid 19 precautions in place - people come and go and are never asked to test or wear masks. The Executive Director and Board needs to be held accountable for such irresponsible behavior and unsafe conditions.

After living in the home in Westover Hills that her father built for the past 43 years, our mother referred to The Lorelton as my home for the past 2-3 years until her recent death at age 99.With large windows, lots of light and her own furnishings, it really did feel like home for her.The staff there were consistently helpful, friendly and welcoming during her entire stay. Mom enjoyed being able to sit outside in the enclosed courtyard to get some fresh air among flowers in a well tended garden.She particularly liked the long halls (it is a converted school) so that she could use her walker and get exercise safely, as well as during her regular physical therapy sessions which she also enjoyed. I was always impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and friendliness of both staff and residents.During this past summer,after two strokes, the staff went above and beyond to not only be supportive of her, but also of the rest of our family.Though we miss her already, we feel comforted that she spent her final years being well cared for by The Lorelton staff,as well as being loved by her family.

Hi- I have lived at Sunrise of Chevy Chase for the last 7 months, and it really is just wonderful as a senior community. I previously had lived at 2 other assisted living places in this area, and Sunrise of Chevy Chase is SO MUCH nicer and more comfortable. There are activities throughout the day everyday. The food is excellent, and the staff and managers are very friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend it to those seeking a senior community in need of assisted living and/ or memory care support.

My mother lived here for several years until she required more intensive nursing support. I think it is safe to say that this was for her the best assisted living facility she ever encountered. The staff made all the difference, all of whom were caring and engaged -- and their longevity was evidence that the environment was good for them, too. The one bedroom apartment my mother had was large and bright, a complete change from the cramped circumstances she had at two other similar facilities. As a former art teacher, I knew she was sold when she found out the place is a converted school -- and when she saw the great art room there!
