My mother has been a resident here for many years. She is happy there and from what we see is receiving good care and is treated with respect. Due to finances, we thought we might have to move Mom out to another facility which accepted Medicaid, however the director at Sunrise was able to offer a creative solution for us and Mom was able to stay! We are very grateful and appreciative about how the situation was handled by Sunrise.

On the positive side, the rooms were very clean, a beautiful view. The facility was very attractive and a concert was given one Saturday. The schedule, food and activities were all well planned (though my mother could not take advantage of those services due to her health. The staff was very caring, though often were hard to find and there was always a poor response to call buttons. Issues of great concern are 1. one issue of neglect (the call button was on my mother's back when she was tangled up with the oxygen tubes) 2.poorly trained staff and inattentive staff 3. an outright lie for financial gain (the move-in fee $4,590(was described aspre-paid months rent but in the contract was nonrefundable. 4 billing issues (duplicate charging for services provided by other medicare vendors. 5 added costs to me due to poor service (not signing a simple form costing me aroudn $2000 6 no response to letters or returning calls by director.

I wanted to rate it at least four stars, but unfortunately, I can't. I find myself agreeing with some of the other reviews. I'm considering moving my family out. We had high hopes for Sunrise after visiting several facilities that didn’t meet our expectations, and we chose Sunrise because of the friendliness of the community coordinators and some of the caregivers. Initially, communication was excellent with the previous coordinator, and all of my family's needs were met. However, things took a turn for the worse a few months ago. Whenever I showed up unannounced, the situation was chaotic. My loved one's bathroom was in a terrible state, and I could often smell urine before entering the room, the dirty clothes basket is always full and no one seems to care anymore or have any answers. There were frequently no staff available to answer my questions. When I asked to speak with someone, I was told that Michelle was on leave and I would have to speak to the Big Boss Upstairs quote on quote. Two weeks ago, I learned that Michelle, would not be returning, which was a major disappointment as I had hoped for improvements upon her return. Since then, some caregivers and nurses have been able to answer a few of my questions, but there’s always an attitude, which leads me to my current decision.

Sunrise is a decent place for your loved one, but I recently learned that Michelle, who ran the memory care unit, will not be returning. I had hoped for her comeback, as her absence has noticeably impacted the atmosphere. Her joyful spirit truly lit up the room, and things just haven't felt the same with the current staff member in her role. Unfortunately, their demeanor is not as welcoming. It's a loss for Sunrise, as Michelle was a remarkable young lady. She’s gonna be missed. Not sure how it will be now in the memory care unit, I will definitely be keeping check on my love one to make sure his care doesn’t decline.

My beloved Aunt is a resident and the I am extremely satisfied. We visit frequently, often unannounced, and are blown away by the level of care, as well as the consistent positive energy and love provided by Michelle and the Reminiscence team. They have become members of our extended family. Best decision we made was choosing Sunrise of Wilmington.

The staff at Sunrise of Wilmington has been very helpful to our mother, and since moving there she has improved. A person who is especially helpful to our mom is Keitha, she has given our mom a lot of confidence and helped her gain her independence. The other person who is a great supporter and extremely encouraging is Taj! Thank you to both these women who care about people.

I recently became guardian for a friend. Because of memory issues, he is not able to live on his own anymore. I toured a few facilities and decided on Sunrise because the residents in the memory care living were happy and engaged. My friend is still active and needs to be engaged and have interaction with people. I was also impressed with the facility itself and the staff were very friendly and caring.

From the moment my wife and I walked in to Sunrise, the facility seemed so alive and vibrant with people socializing and happily chatting with each other...the place was decorated superbly for the Christmas holidays and it just had a small town feel about it, right down to the cat "Snowbell" who was wandering around the lobby area...it just seemed like a wonderful place for my mom...thx to the sunrise staff for making this an active and caring place...D.K. The best part of Sunrise is Michelle who runs the memory care unit. My aunt has been living there for 5 months. and living her best life. The activities, food, excursions and environment make my aunt feel like she's at home. Michelle provides our family the safety and comfort knowing our loved ones are well taken care. Michelle is one of the major reasons we chose Sunrise.

Our only complaint about Sunrise.the food !! Our mom used to look forward to mealtime at Sunrise. It should be a time for residents to get together. However, dinner is horrible . Mom rarely joins this meal . She prefers to remain in her room due to the menu. It has deteriorated in the past 6-8 months. Mom is not alone with this opinion. It seems to be a general consensus of opinion. We have informed the front desk. They responded their awareness & that others have the same opinion. Gravies & sauces do not mask poor choices. Please, remedy this !

My mother spent the last 9 1/2 months of her life in Sunrise and the facilities and staff surpassed all of our expectations. The staff and management always went above and beyond to provide exceptional care and make my mother's life as happy and comfortable as possible. Mom told me her caregivers were her friends, not just employees, and in her last days when hospice was caring for her, staff members came in regularly to check on her not because they had to but because they truly cared about her. My brother and I are so thankful we moved Mom to Sunrise when she could no longer live on her own.

My mother has been at sunrise for the past 8 months. I cannot express how wonderful and caring all the personnel has been. From the receptionist to the maintenance crew everyone has been so warm and helpful. My mother extensive care and she always looks immaculate and well cared for. My mother spent time at several other places and none come close to the loving care that she has received at Sunrise. I highly recommend this home.

The staff at Sunrise are warm and attentive to all of our family. My Dad needs quite a bit of extra care and they are always on top of everything. The director really puts her heart and soul into making sure the residents are well cared for and always makes time to address family concerns. The activities staff are amazing. One of the staff has even sat with my Dad at the piano even though he forgets how to play because she knows sitting by the piano makes him happy. So grateful for all the staff that has worked to support my Dad

As an outside contractor providing home therapy services to residents at Sunrise, I have to say Sunrise is a wonderful facility. I feel welcomed, included, and at home every time I come to Sunrise. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always greets me (with the exception of Snowbell the cat who can go either way!) The residents are welcoming and pleasant, which indicates they are happy and being well taken care of. I would recommend Sunrise to anyone looking for ALF care for their loved one.

When my Mom could no longer be independent and needed help, we were very lucky to find Sunrise of Wilmington. The Sunrise community became our extended family for 8 years. The leadership and staff foster a loving, caring, and exceptionally professional environment and attended to all of my mother’s needs. We were always confident in the support they offer. We will be forever grateful and thankful to the Wilmington Sunrise community for all they did for our family.

My family is very happy with the care my mother recieves at Sunrise! The staff is very dedicated and whenever we have a question or concern they always make sure it is taken care of right away. We have been impressed by the way they have handled the pandemic and made sure that the residents have been protected. The entire place is very clean and they decorate for every holiday. Making decisions about care for a loved one is never easy but I think we made the right decision with choosing Sunrise.

I will forever hold the staff at Sunrise of Wilmington close to my heart. For 7 years my wife struggled with a debilitating illness and the good folks at Sunrise always saw to both her physical and emotional needs. Always done with a smile and, very obvious, to me, with a genuine care for her welfare. I went through similar circumstances with both of my parents, and while they were well cared for, nothing will ever compare to how well the Sunrise team took care of my wife. They were a real blessing in our lives.
