My father was in cadia for a recovery from a stroke. The PT and Ot and speech was wonderful ,but the nursing care was in need of improvement. The nurses sit in the hall on their phones while the call bells are going off. It takes forever to get a nurse and several times they forgot to feed my dad. Very frustrating for sure. The one nurse told him to get off the call bell or she would " rip it out of the wall". You have to keep an eye on your loved ones . There are a few great nurses. Night staff is questionable. If you can care for yourself It's fine, but if you can't please have lots of visits.

I've had an educational experience here with a group of men and women who understand a patients needs. The physical therapists went out if their way to make sure we reached goals to move on.

A HUGE thank you to Jennifer Thielemann, Admissions Director at Silverside. I am a care manager in the community and she went above and beyond to secure a bed for one of my clients. I thank you and the client's family thanks you Jenn!

This is a very good rehab facility. They have helped me a lot with walking again. The food is good and they have great activies too including bingo and entertainment. You won't regret coming here this is a wonderful facility.

I was at this facility recently for a month. I have no idea how many people took care of me including aides, nurses, P/T and O/T, wound care, and various others including the doctors, but every one of them were kind and empathetic. They all knew their jobs and took wonderful care of me. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility for rehab care.

My grandfather was in here recovering from COVID. The story's I heard about his time in this place was unbelievable. You could have a group of kids with autism who would do better than most of these people, but I will say there's only a handful who really did ca

I have timed the call bell several times there (requesting service for my mother). One time was as long as 37 minutes and then someone came to deliver lunch. Unacceptable. My mother has Lymphodema in her legs and no one there had a clue how to deal with it. No wrap- yes wrap- no wash- yes wash. She was there for quite some time and the wound care was very lacking. She ended up back in the hospital with her legs infected again. Not returning there for certain. No bathing except sponge bath when i insisted. Employees there -with the exception of a few are there to help patients- not party amongst themselves. Employees park in the visitor parking. Many visitors cannot walk the mile trip from further parking lot. I was told to put a mask on which I generally do anyway- but neglected one day. I responded by yes I will just as soon as you pull yours over your nose. Many other situations happened but probably useless to mention. I did give a 2 rating for the 2 dedicated employees.

It's a nice place to work but too many young girls with attitude problems. Not the environment for me but they take very good care of the residents.

Nice and clean when I went In for my interview and that says a lot. I hope this will be a great place to work and grow.

The doctor and nurse needs to get better information to the client or patience.
December 2022
I've heard good reports about this facility. My uncle was admitted due to fall risk yet he's fallen four times in a span of three days since admission. The 3rd got him a deep gash on his forehead in less than 24 hours; the 4th fall landed him at Wilmington Christiana ER twice. You would think if he's a fall risk there would be a plan to ensure he doesn't become a regular visitor at the ER. I'm extremely disgusted with the care he's gotten this far. He's hasn't even been there a week! I asked on day two about him getting a bath claims he got a bed bath; yet when I asked for a bed pan they said they were all out short supply. So how what did they use to bathe him? It's a clean facility but we were expecting excellent physical therapy. Have yet to have that experience. They didn't know his eyesight was bad yet he's able to get in and out of bed without any help. He said he waited an hour after calling the nurse. The director of nursing left for the night and wasn't available to follow up with me. This is the fourth fall in three days. Is the staff awake during the day?
November 2022
I have been a patient here after 2 surgeries, recovering from 1st hip surgery after a fall @ home. Fell in room but Wilmington Hospital failed to diagnosis a 2nd break in CT scan. For over a month I was doing PT with an unknown 2nd break. After 1 month I am still recovering, but against my insistence to NOT use the stationary bike, I was told to use it anyway. My knee is still hurting, but I know that I have to push through the pain w/o the bike. By now I should have completed the PT and be at home. There is literally ONE nurse on the floor who keeps a close eye on me, as well as the other patients. The MD in charge of this place keeps changing the order of my pain medication. Not available at night. The CNA's are useless and they never respond when I push the button for help, but wait until no one else comes along. I still have no clearance to use the wheelchair even though the therapists send me back to my room w/o any assistance. IF I wait for a CNA to wheel me anywhere, I'd never get to the bathroom on time, the therapy room or anywhere else. I have still not been given the clearance, although I have been proven more than once been forced to undress, wash my body (in the presence of a therapist), and then completely dress myself. I have proven that I am capable of "transitioning" from the bed, or the bathroom and back again. Shower time is 2 days per week. All of this when about the entire staff, at any given time see me rolling around, by myself, Lastly, I have made very little progress on the walker because my left knee is painful to lift. Yet the pain in my knee has never been acknowledged by the therapist who did not heed my request. In my not so distant time I know that I have to have surgery to repair the knee. Again, there is ONLY ONE FLOOR NURSE THAT CARES. That young woman works the first shift. The rest follows the med schedule as they see fit. Quite a few of them are hired through agencies I can't wait for my release from this nightmare. BRW, I see my surgeon tomorrow. Since he has received multiple complaints about this place, he may decide to place his patients elsewhere. One never knows. Maureen Huston Heinly Incidentally, I now have been here going into my third month. And I still not have recovered enough to go back home. Something is terribly wrong with this place.
