Reviews Arden Courts of Wilmington – Promedica Memory Care Community

Arden Court in Wilmington is doing an awesome job managing my Dad's dementia journey. Dad has no real memory and struggles with confusion which can make him fearful. He needs continuous reassurance. The staff is working extremely hard to assist and make him feel safe and conformable. For the first time in years, I was able to go on vacation and totally relax knowing that the staff had my dad. It is refreshing to see how much the staff cares and the effort they are putting into making Arden Court such a compassionate community. Thank you!!

My loved one has been there nine years now. I consider them a premier place, especially now the Stacy is back as Exec Dir.
March 2024
We were concerned about placing my Dad at Arden Courts based on the Google reviews and the 2023 News Journal article, but we are happy we trusted that recent changes have turned things around. Three weeks in, Dad is adjusting as well as we could hope. The facility feels warm and homey, and we are welcome to visit him as much as we want. The nursing staff, caregivers, and administration have been attentive to our needs, which enables us to trust that we are cared for and he is safe. With dementia, each day is unpredictable. Whatever comes up with him, they handle and keep us in the loop concerning his care.

I'm giving Arden court a four star rating only because my husband complains about the food. He's a picky eater and the food isn't to his liking and the portions are small.
December 2023
Managment sucks, the care is horrible, the food is even worse. They're converting another unit because the census is so low. The ED put in her 2 weeks in fear of being terminated. Please get your loved ones. Med techs making multiple med errors and the DON and ED covering it up. Check out the news article from the summer. No lies detected here.

To The staff of Arden Courts, I think your jobs are tough enough without the prolonged electrical outage. On behalf of the Goodwin family we would like to say thank you for the dedication and care you show not only our mother but all the residents of Arden Courts. Your efforts are noted and appreciated. Enjoy lunch! Thank you from the Goodwin Family.

Horrible place. Do NOT place anyone you care about here. Read articles published on August 8, 9, 10 on Delaware online of their investigation of this place. Multiple lawsuits for neglect and abuse. Many others who haven't sued but attest to horrible situations.
July 2023
My loved one has been a resident at Arden Courts for the last month. Since her arrival her physical and emotional wellbeing has improved dramatically. On her discharge from hospital she was barely talking, clinging to a stuffed dog, and needed considerable assistance to stand and could not walk without assistance from two people. She is now talking and interacting with staff and residents, is no longer carrying her stuffed dog, and is walking down a hallway to community rooms without the assistance of even a walker! She SMILES and greets me when I visit and introduces me to other residents. Smiles had been so rare even before the hospital stay. I have not seen her this content for the last couple years! Thank you to all of the amazing staff at Arden Courts!

My mother was assulted while at this facility and within a month she passed away. It has been very difficult to get any information about what happened to her. I do not recomend anyone sending a loved one here.
May 2023
Since my best friend had to be put in Arden Courts in January 2018, care has gone way downhill. Poor management, inadequate number of nurses. Eventually a scrape on one leg was allowed to get so infected that she ended up unconscious and died in five days. In 2018, this place had a good reputation. Loved ones of current residents are uniformly commenting on the decline in care.
April 2023
Do NOT place anyone you care about here! Wounds ignored and left to fester. Sepsis not uncommon among residents. Grossly understaffed. A few stellar employees but overall they are incompetent and uncaring.
December 2022
Horrible place. Used to be good. Now care is awful. Incontinent residents are left wet and dirty for hours on end. Aides ignore family requests for assistance to toilet a resident. Newest director says some of the right things, but actions speak louder than words. Understaffed and overpriced. Resident care and comfort are NOT the priority. Now closing one wing and MOVING those patients....which is the most disruptive thing you can do to someone with Alzheimers. This place sucks.

I was a employee at arden courts for a very long time and I would not recommend no one to work their or put their love one's in there. Especially with the new management. The ED [name removed] does not know what she's doing she's doesn't care about her staff allowing them to work with only one caregiver in the building with no nurses. Residents falling and no one knows why or what happened. Tina and the HR lady is very rude and disrespectful

Every since a new administration has started, this facility has gone "down hill". The services to the residents have decreased as well as staffing. My mother is not changed frequently as she should be. The facility fax machine has been inoperable for many months. In the past, I've tried to have them fax a referral for physical therapy, and it took 3 months for physical therapy to received the referral. Same for billing. Her long term care insurance has not received bills from this facility in the past 3 months because their fax machine is also down. Some of the resident's family members as well as staff feels the Director does not follow up as should be when there is an issue. I never had to write a bad review. But currently, this Arden Courts do not deserve a 4 or 5 star rating. The reason why I'm giving it a 2 star and one star is because some of the care givers work very hard.

Great facility with great staff! My dad with Alzheimers spent his last 5 months at Arden Courts of Wilmington. He did really well there. It was great to see him involved in so many activities. The facility that he had previously been at did not have activities, nor did they know how to handle someone with Alzheimers like my dad. I wish that we had moved him to Arden Courts earlier.
July 2020
I was onsite at Arden Courts visiting my Mom the day that the shooting occurred next door at Manor Care. It would be very hard to adequately convey how frightening that day was for residents, staff and visitors who were onsite. However, what I can tell you is that the way this event was handled by the staff that day was OUTSTANDING!! Residents were being transferred from Manor Care to Arden Courts in wheelchairs and on foot and they were confused and scared. The staff was all hands on deck ensuring that every resident was receiving the attention and care they needed. No one complained that they couldnt go home on time because we were on lock-down for hours, no one stood by idle, no one said, thats not my job...everyone pitched in and worked as a team - no matter what was being asked. I was so impressed. I am probably one of the most demanding family members that Arden Courts has had to deal with. Im not someone that is easy to please when it comes to the care of my Mom but that day I was truly grateful to see that this facility was trained and prepared to react and respond quickly and professionally to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone involved. Kudos to the entire staff and their management on a job well done!
April 2020
My father spent several months here before his death from Alzheimers. The staff were caring, the food was above average and the facility was overall lovely and clean. It was a godsend for my mother, who could no longer care for him. The location is convenient from suburban Wilmington and it was easy for my mother to visit him often. We were very happy to have chosen this facility and send our appreciation to the staff who went above and beyond for him.

Our mother was in the care of Arden Courts in Wilmington for 4 months until she recently passed away. The staff is compassionate, professional, and accessible to every resident. We were extremely happy with the entire administration. The facility felt very home-like, and the staff felt like extended family.
August 2015
For anyone facing the difficult decision of selecting an assisted living facility for a loved one with dementia, I highly recommend Arden Courts of Wilmington. My daughter and I faced this decision several months ago after my 67 year old wifes Alzeimhers reached the point where the need for professional, 24-7 care was evident. We looked at the many local options. What attracted us to Arden Courts initially was the apparent quality of the staff, the fresh pleasant atmosphere inside the facility, and the spacious secure outside walking space. We also liked that Arden Courts is only for people with dementia. All of our hopes and expectations have been met or exceeded. The staff could not be more friendly, caring and enthusiastic. Best of all, my wife is doing well, considering her terrible disease.
