My mom has been a resident of Waveny's Village memory care unit for almost a year. We are happy we decided to move her here! She is happy, safe, and well cared for. The staff is on top of her needs and have also made good recommendations (such as a different style walker) that have improved her quality of life. There are so many opportunities for engagement and stimulation with daily activities. She had almost none living in her home. Although we can't reverse her inevitable mental decline, we can see an improvement in her energy and outlook. Pictures are from Easter and her 90th birthday celebration in gathering spaces at The Village.

Recently I was visiting my mother at The Inn and sat in on another creative and enthusiastic program that Barbara Jeffries was conducting. She is so knowledgeable about so many subjects and has a way of engaging the residents and imparting knowledge while creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere. A true gem! Just one of the many reasons my mother loves living there! I am so fortunate to have my mother living at the Inn. The staff is so caring and considerate of her wants and needs. Visiting her there is a pleasure. Everyone is friendly and approachable and ready to assist any way they can. I believe that living there has improved the quality of her life.

The Inn at Waveny is a wonderful place! The rooms are nice, there's a lovely living room where residents spend their time but the real treasure is the team working there. They all truly care about the residents' comfort and enjoyment. They're polite, thoughtful, flexible and are always thinking about how to enhance everyone's experience. There are activities planned everyday, in addition to exercise classes, a library, entertainment, and good food. It's really like a big family with the staff, residents and resident family members all together. Definitely 5 stars!

My 96 year old mother went into Waveny Care Center mid January of this year for a fractured hip and wrist. Everyone there was amazing, from Tom the Social Worker, to Irene/OT to Leah/ PT, Jim/RN, Cathy/RN,Stephanie/RN, and so many more nurses and aides to mention, they took incredible care of her. My mother was in pretty bad shape when she arrived at Waveny but due to the excellent care she received she made remarkable progress and was able to use her walker to leave the facility, she couldn't have done it without the care she received at Waveny! At 100 I fell and broke my hip I went to a rehab in Wilton and it was horrible (Waveny didn't have a bed) we had to get me out of that rehab and back home and my family called Waveny. The came right over and went through everything and really helped my family who were very stressed out. I had Goesta Schlegel as my OT and Wendy Boller as my PT they were both amazing!! They both are so caring and kind and made us feel so comfortable. And because of those two I'm walking on my own and doing most things in my home. I can't say enough about them and me and my family thank them so much for all they had done. I would use Waveny again in a heart beat to come to my house for PT and OT .

My mother-in-law had the good fortune to move into Waveny a year ago and it has been a wonderful experience. The entire staff is caring, considerate and shows respect and concern for the residents. I moved my parents into The Village at Waveny assisted living facility in February of this year. I feel very lucky to have found them. From the help they provided me in navigating through the initial application and move-in process to the support during my parents initial transition to assisted living, to the ongoing care they receive, I've been very pleased. The staff is wonderful - caring, hard-working, empathetic, consistent, and responsive. The programming is terrific - from concerts to games to exercise classes, etc. I enjoy my visits there and love the familial setting that has been created for all the residents. I've also been fortunate to have met several other families with loved ones at Waveny - many who have been there for years; all seem similarly pleased with their choice of this special facility for their parent or spouse.

I recently completed my work with the Waveny LifeCare team. I felt so lucky to be in the care of such consummate professionals. The nursing care was thorough and Erin, helped me adjust to medication changes and the bumps in the road that were bound to happen. Physical therapy through Wendy's exceptional guidance allowed me to regain my strength and begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Cerissa, as the social worker, was there to help me set goals and provided encouragement to me in the process. My recovery I attribute to the kindness and generosity of spirit that these women shared with me and my husband.

I arrived at Waveny 30 days after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in Florida and just as Covid 19 was starting to ramp up. I was in need of physical, occupational and speech therapy. Because of Covid 19, coming from a Florida hospital required that I go into isolation for my first 14 days. The professionals at Waveny found ways to provide my various therapies under unusual circumstances and I thrived because of what they were able to do. I continue to make gains today, 17 months later, because the people at Waveny helped me to believe that I would get better with hard work and a relentlessly positive attitude. Waveny has been truly a godsend for my brother Gary. I say this based upon our experiences with the other two assisted living facilities where Gary has spent the last decade. All of these facilities were highly regarded and rated, but none came close to Waveny in terms of care and quality of life. The Waveny staff is truly its greatest strength. With patience and caring they have enabled Gary once more to socialize more easily and even to enjoy telling his corny jokes one more. Waveny is a very special place. I had the great opportunity of volunteering at Waveny for not as long as I would have liked and then COVID hit...I spent many years in the Corporate world and although I am proud of the inroads and the accomplishments my professional career yielded, nothing matches the gratification and appreciation my volunteering at Waveny gave me...Every smile or holding the hand of a resident was met with warmth and gratitude that just gave me immeasurable joy.. I felt I was finally able to give back to those that needed it most....I f this is something you are thinking of doing , please just do it even if it is just an hour a week it will bring you overwhelming joy and a sense of "wow I did something good for someone today" there is no price tag for that type of kindness... I would be back at Waveny in a heartbeat but I have family issues that prevent me from doing so...Please, if you can give a little of your time you have no idea how wonderful you will feel and the gratitude that will be showered on you making you feel like the best thing since ice cream!!!

This is the nicest nursing facility I have visited. I have spent a lot of time there over the past 3 weeks visiting a family member there. The food is good. The rehab staff is excellent. Management is responsive. If I could take away a half of a star, I might. Sometimes the aids take a while to come when residents ring and sometimes there are call bells that seem to ring too long. Also, most residents of the rehab unit do not have private rooms.

My Mom was there for rehabilitation 2 years ago. Pros: food good, quiet private room, clean. Mom got exercise and movement getting up out of her room when she could eventually walk while there. . Lovely facility and grounds. Administration was informed and helpful at discharge. Cons: it is understaffed. Walking the halls your hear bells ringing for nurses, many elderly people in their rooms calling out "help me!" , but I didn't see more than 1 CNA and maybe 1 nurse (if you can find her) handling an entire wing. It's like a ghost town! Where are the nurses? Mom confirmed very long wait times, sometimes up to 1/2 hour before anyone came after she pressed the call button. That's a long time to wait for a bed pan!

I must admit that my experience there is not recent. My aunt, who died in 1994 was there on the second floor. She was suffering from cancer and dementia and continually begged us, with tears in her eyes to get her out, which we finally did. She died at home with home health care. The people who worked there were both rude and obnoxious when asked questions, and I pray to God that I never end up in a place like that. My father died in a nursing home in Norwalk, and while it was certainly a depressing place, the staff there was kind and considerate - nothing like what we experienced in New Canaan. My father was born and raised in New Canaan and would not allow himself to ever set foot in that place after what we went through with my aunt. I also need to mention that I have known people who were in rehab on the first floor, and it's a completely different world down there, and they were well cared for.
