Mom moved into BrightView on New Canaan in the spring of 2022 at the age of 98. She has always been very independent and capable. She was living alone in her single family home with only minimal help three days a week for several hours. Over the last few years mom had been hospitalized and in rehab a few times because of falling in the house. Thankfully nothing too serious and always making a full recovery. She continued to insist on living her independent life in her own house. I could see she was becoming depressed as time went on and I continually worried about her safety. I knew she could not continue to live alone and doctors were telling me the same. Keeping the house and having full time live in care was not a viable option financially. After having to call life alert because of a fall in the middle of the night mom finally agreed it was time to consider assisted living. I visited and interviewed several assisted living facilities and decided BrightView on New Canaan was where mom should be. I can honestly say this is the best thing I could have done. After only a few weeks mom was noticeably happier. She was benefitting from the social interaction with other residents and the staff. Shortly after moving in I remember one phone call when she said "I have to hang up now I am meeting friends downstairs". Mom has adjusted very well. She feels safe and is happy with her new home. The staff at BrightView is great. Everyone that mom deals with ( health care, food service, social, maintenance, management) treats her compassion and complete understanding. They listen to mom wants and needs and do it her way as much as possible. BrightView has significantly exceeded my expectations. It is very comforting to know mom is being well cared for and that there is always someone who cares with eyes on her when she is out of her apartment enjoying the facilities.

We helped my 94-year-old father move into Brightview on New Canaan in Norwalk in January of this year. My father is a pragmatic person and knew he needed more help at this time of his life. Happily, he has made a smooth transition and loves his studio plus apartment. It gets morning sun and is conveniently located near the elevator. My father is a retired professor and scholar of medieval Spain. The Vibrant Living department invited him to lecture and he so enjoyed preparing his three-day lecture complete with slides! He is even thinking about other topics he could speak on. Daddy remarks on how much he loves the food and we have all joined him for yummy meals. It is so reassuring to our family that Daddy is getting the assistance he needs. I think what surprised me was how much he was craving company and now, at Brightview, he is finding friends to talk with as well as just greeting people daily. Also, Daddy gets OT and PT onsite and visits the sunlit gym on the third floor. It is so much easier for him to not have to go out for PT and basic things like haircuts and podiatrist visits. The facility is beautifully kept and there are always fresh flowers at the entry way. All the staff have been very kind and helped, not only Daddy, but our whole family. Michele Ranieri was my initial contact and she went above and beyond guiding us through the process as well as followed up on so many details. Our experience with Brightview has been just that: "bright." Although 94 and short of breath, it is like Daddy has a second wind and can enjoy his life more fully than he did when he was alone at home. We are very grateful!

My mother moved into BV just a few weeks ago, and her move-in date also happened to be her 91st birthday. She received such a warm welcome - including a birthday cake! - and the entire BV community/extended family came out to wish her well in her new home. From the moment she arrived, her days have been filled with meeting staff members, other residents, enjoying 3 meals a day (that she doesn't have to prepare!) and more activities that she can count. She has been enjoying card games, arts and crafts, bingo, musical concerts and dance troupe performances. Our family has always been very proud of my mother, but to make the decision to move to an assisted living, well, we give her a lot of credit for being open to this. It did not take long for her to adjust to her new apartment and environment at BV. Her apartment is warm and cozy, and she feels very safe and secure there. While she briefly missed her condo, she now calls BV her "home". My siblings and I are so grateful knowing she is happy, safe and well taken care of. This really does mean the world to us.

Based on my experience with an elderly friend who is mentally intact but has multiple medical problems for which he can no longer be cared for at home, I highly recommend Brightview New Canaan as an option for assisted living. Most importantly the staff at every level is friendly and welcoming. They make a concerted effort to accommodate and satisfy the individual needs of residents and their families. The facility itself is modern and physically appealing with apartments of various sizes. Food is good. Multiple activities are available to satisfy a variety of interests and provide opportunities for social interaction, including occasional excursions offsite. Physical and occupational therapy is readily available as needed. If long term care is a consideration, an exploratory visit would be well worth the time.

Brightview was extremely helpful and caring from start to finish when my brother needed a place to get stronger after his illness. They communicated with me frequently which put my mind at ease. The food was wonderful and if there was anything my brother wanted they would provide it to him, even after hours! The have multiple activities going on weekly and there is always s nice festive atmosphere whenever I visit. The other residents are outgoing and go out of their way to introduce themselves. It’s a really wonderful community where everyone knows each other and hang together. I was very impressed and highly recommend Brightview and their incredible staff!

My mom has been at Brightview 3 months and was immediately very happy with her one bedroom apartment, the food, the staff, and the other residents. She is happier there than she had been when living independently by herself in an active senior citizen community down south. While she played a lot of tennis there and participated in a few other activities, she was alone most of the time, especially for meals and at night. Now, she really enjoys eating 3 meals a day, attending outstanding music concerts, hanging out at the daily social hour, participating in exercise classes, walking outside around the building, and attending the nightly movie with her fellow residents. I had worried that she would really miss her old friends and tennis, but she never even mentions them. I've gotten to know many of the Brightview residents during my many visits and think they're a great bunch: While many of them do use walkers or canes, they have wonderful personalities, are very friendly and spirited, and are very welcoming to new residents. The staff (especially Michele, Gehann, and Shawn) are all very responsive even when off duty. Gifted musician (and bartender and rabbi and all-around mensch), Steve, is a treasure; and Brightview still brings in other musicians even though Steve is a fulltime employee! My mom, my brother, and I are all very glad we selected Brightview.

I have been doing my research to find the right place for my mom, (mainly looked in Darien), but this community impressed me the most, therefore i have chosen it for my mom when we decide to move her. The staff has been there a while, including the nurses and aids, which is very important to me. I loved how bright and nice the memory care floor was, and everyone in memory care was dressed well for the afternoon; also the outside garden area was so pretty. MicheIlle is amazing to work with, and she is also the reason i was very impressed with Brightview on New Canaan.

The residents love to sit out on the front porch, chat with people coming and going, and simply enjoy the weather. One can understand why Brightview on New Canaan has been awarded one of the top 100 companies in the US to work for. We love creating and delivering all of their flowers and gift baskets.

My parents were determined to live in their big, old house as long as possible and they did, well into their 90s. My mother's sudden illness and my father's ongoing decrease in mobility created the situation that they could no longer live in a multi story house independently. We were so fortunate that they had looked into Brightview on New Canaan a month or so before my mother's illness. Within two weeks of the decision to move, and a week after my mother's return from the hospital, they were moved into a bright and sunny 2 bedroom apartment at Brightview. It was an emotional roller coaster for them and it took a team approach by the rest of the family to get all the furniture and their belongings moved in. The staff at Brightview are incredible and make sure that my parents feel valued and are safe and happy. Michele was indispensable in making the transition as smooth as possible. While my parents miss their house and all the living that went on it for 57 years, they now call Brightview their home. They have been there about a month. On my recent visit, I took them around town on errands. Upon return to Brightview and entering their apartment each time, they're expressions were of familiarity and contentment. They were home. We highly recommend Brightview on New Canaan as a loving place to live.

We moved our 87 year old mother to Brightview in December 2021. It was the best thing we did for our mom who suffers from vascular dementia. Her short term memory has progressively worsened and the facility she was at prior to Brightview did not notice or adjust her care plan accordingly. As a result, her weight and heath began to decline as well. She was withdrawn and did not want to socialize. Once we moved her to Brightview, the staff was so great with her. They had her out and about all day, mingling and socializing. She was the happiest we have seen her in years. Everyone at Brightview, whether it's the front desk reception, management, or the loving staff, all are exceptional. They actually do care for each one of their residents and they do a wonderful job engaging the residents at all levels. We are so happy our mom was able to live out her last few months at Brightview. She had friends there and she was happy. Thank you all for caring for her so well, to the end!

After a few other attempts to find the right senior living place for my mother I am delighted to rave about Brightview. My mother couldn't be happier! The staff is incredibly attentive on an individualized basis and they don't simply tick boxes or go by the menu... I have watched for 5 months now each staff member look after my mother's particular needs, respectful of her quirks and work hard to make every day something different for the residents. That is tough to do ! The size and location work but it's the culture of care that has won us over. Great job !

My mother moved to Brightview in July 2021 due to an assortment of cognitive/physical issues, and we could not be happier with the decision. The staff is uniformly caring and professional; activities and friendly residents are keeping her fully engaged; food is excellent. The folks there are very responsive to requests coming from both residents and family, and do their best to make everyone feel comfortable about both the overall picture and day-to-day issues. It's so reassuring to know that Mom is being well cared for, and she says repeatedly that she couldn't be happier with her decision to move to Brightview.

My father arrived at Brightview on New Cannon on April 30, 2021. He was in a wheelchair, couldn't walk and couldn't even get into a bed. We ordered a hospital bed and truthfully didn't know if he would ever walk again. We were greeted by each staff person with respect, patience, support and love. We did not know what the future would bring. Brightview gave my Dad the medical support he needed. They were on top of his meds, doctor's appointments and all healthcare that he required. They offered a wheelchair accessible van to get him back and forth to appointments. They coordinated physical and occupational therapists. I NEVER had to worry about my Dad's care when he was at Brightview. They took strict precautions for COVID. My Dad who originally wanted to hide in his room for meals began to emerge and take advantage of the activities and yummy food at the Dining room. He started to really blossom and enjoy life again. My Dad left Brightview to return home on September 30th. At his departure, he was walking with a cane, eating normally and excited to have gained his strength to move back to his home. I can not thank Brightview enough for their love and compassion, their patience with my Dad (which isn't always easy) and their professionalism and competence to help my Dad regain his strength and good health. Each staff person is kind, thoughtful and caring. If my Dad ever needs an assisted living facility, we will be coming back to Brightview. I loved it so I wanted to move in!

It was hard to move my perfectly mobile and very independent grandmother out of her beloved home, but when we discovered Brightview New Canaan, we knew that it would really benefit her to be part of an active and stimulating social environment. At 100, she is independent and truly enjoying her life - she loves participating in the exercise classes, attending nightly movies, playing BINGO and poker and watching the amazing musical performances and entertainers who come to the building. Her life is full and active and she appreciates being part of a community where she knows there are always people around who can help her if/when she needs. The staff at Brightview New Canaan is warm and attentive and we are so grateful that we found such a wonderful place for her to call home.

Our mom moved into Brightview in Norwalk, CT this past spring. Initially she was reluctant to move from her lovely townhouse in New Canaan into an assisted living residence. Over the past 6 months, however, we have seen her become happier than she has been in years - full of energy, enthusiasm, and joy. We give Brightview and their marvelous staff full credit. They are professional, kind, caring, and make each resident feel special. Individuality is not stifled at Brightview - unique preferences and behaviors are readily met with openness and a willingness to make each person feel comfortable and welcome. The staff always seems eager to please.The dally activities/events for the residents are creative and numerous; the dining hall's food and menus are scrumptious and varied; the facility and grounds are very attractive and beautifully maintained. One sunny day in October Steve Avitable from Brightview serenaded our members on our outdoor patio. He was amazing; singing in both English and Spanish! Our members were delighted with the sing-along as well. Michele Ranieri rounded out the afternoon with gourmet cupcakes for our members. They were prompt, gracious and generous. Our members had a lovely afternoon with friends, food and music. Many Thanks to Brightview for a first class event. I enjoy, perhaps, a different perspective when it comes to independent/ assisted living residences. As a musician, I get to interact with the residents on a much different level. I get the opportunity to speak to residents, "off the record" so to speak, while we're setting up or loading out. Every time we perform at Brightview on New Canaan I am impressed with how happy the residents are. Their comments about quality of housing and care are always 5 star. Staff and management are incredibly involved with the well-being of the residents and project a genuine "family" vibe. The local community is also very supportive, often assisting with special events at Brightview. A special nod to Michele Ranieri, Kathy Cureau and the entire staff for their tireless efforts to provide the best care and surroundings for our loved ones. Great job!!!

My wife and I recently had to make an unexpected decision to find an assisted living facility for an elderly friend. We visited many centers but quickly realized Brightview understood what our friend wanted and had the depth of resources to ensure his happiness and safety. Michele Ranieri at Brightview worked with our friend to best match his needs in rooming, food and overall comfort. The nursing and support staff is 1st rate and they have gone out of their way to make our friend as comfortable as possible at Brightview. The daily dining experience and afternoons " in the pub" do help make life at Brightview vibrant! I do not hesitate to recommend Brightview.

My mother became very ill while away from CT at Thanksgiving. Once she was finished with rehab in SC she wanted to move back to CT where. she has lived independently for 60 years. The choice of Brightview was perfect for her. She began in the respite program and we are now moving her things from home into her permanent apartment. This was a huge transition only made possible by the superb team at Brightview. The facilities are incredible, the food is delicious and Mom is around more people which is key at age 91+. The staff is kind and supportive. She tells me every day how happy and comfortable she is in her new home. After months of worrying about her situation we are all so happy and relieved that this move has been virtually seamless for her. We are extremely grateful for the support and assistance from everyone at Brightview on New Canaan.
