My husband and I have lived at The Chateau at Lake San Marcos for six years. The most important thing to know is that The Chateau is a RESIDENT OWNED RETIREMENT COMMUNITY. Everyone owns their own condo, should you sell your condo and it has appreciated, which is the usual situation, you get that appreciation. All homeowners at The Chateau are members of a Homeowners Association. This means that the homeowners decide what amenities they want, and there is an excellent staff that provides those amenities. Those are the hard facts that make The Chateau the best choice in a senior retirement community. Additionally there are "soft" facts that make The Chateau desirable. The amenities are excellent. One meal a day is provided in the beautiful dining room that is the equivalent of any "white tablecloth" restaurant. The staff is well trained and the food is excellent. The grounds are lovely and there is a lap pool and jacuzzi. In the summer really fun water aerobics classes take place twice a week. There are several wonderful exercise classes. Other amenities include bi-monthly housekeeping, transportation to medical appointments and many shopping destinations, and many fun activities. There are many other excellent amenities. But the most important thing about The Chateau is the friends you make. It is the friendliest community you will ever find.

I hastily took title in early May before selling my home in July. As a result, I was slow to "live" at Chateau. Now that I have lived here for a few months, I can say from experience that I made the right decision. The grounds are gorgeous and the buildings are so well kept. The staff is very attentive. The accommodations are wonderful along with a wonderful staff. The food is great too.

Wonderful friendly resident owners (or renters), excellent food, attentive staff, beautiful grounds, group activities, transportation to stores and medical, exterior maintenance, pet park. It has been a wonderful experience for my husband with health problems and activities for me. We are so satisfied. Thank you Chateau. We are so grateful we found you!

A lovely place to live with the most dedicated staff. You are surrounded by flowers. The food is top notch and the daily choices are amazing. THere are daily activities and a well-kept secret is that you also get a membership in the LAkeside Lodge which offers pickleball, tennis, billiards, etc.Active retirees looking to eat well and exercise often can live a good life here.

I'm convinced that the Chateau will extend my lifespan by many years. There is so much community support; daily exercise classes to rebuild my strength; clean food available to cater to my restricted diet; and a feeling of safety that erases all anxiety. The Chateau is a beautiful resident-owned senior condominium complex. The incredible staff places the well-being of the residents as its top priority. The units are comfortable, the food is excellent, the residents are friendly, pets are welcome, activities are numerous and varied, the grounds are wonderfully maintained and there is a seven-room health facility available. Come visit and see for yourself!

I have personally helped a number of clients move into The Chateau and every single one has ranted and raved about the food, the customer service/staff and their overall experience and how great it has been! The only negative I have ever heard was that they didn't move in sooner! Best value in all of San Diego County for independent living!

My husband and I bought a two bedroom, two bath condo at the Chateau several months ago. We love living there. First of all, everyone is so friendly. We were immediately invited to join a lovely group of people at dinner our very first evening. I've never been anywhere more friendly. One of the favorite amenities is the dining. We have a beautifully appointed dining room with a wonderfully accommodating staff, very talented chef and amazing food. The choices are plentiful and the food is fresh and delicious and after dinner the dessert tray is presented, oh my. The champagne Sunday Brunch is worthy of a Ritz-Carlton and it is so nice to invite friends for a relaxing afternoon and not have to deal with food prep or clean up. All the amenities you can think of are here and most are included, transportation, housekeeping, linen service, library, movie and DVD library, free WiFi and TV, fitness center, business amenities, concierge services, copies, postal services, wonderful parties, trips to concerts and other entertainment, organized resident activities, year-round pool and spa and our own dog park. It is definitely a dog friendly environment. There are many homeowners with dogs. Of course the temperate North San Diego climate is also included. The landscaping is beautiful with a reflecting pool, waterfalls and many fountains, a rose garden, arbors and a large weeping willow tree. It is walking distance to the Lake, a lovely church and some small shops. Additionally there are two lovely golf courses near by, an executive course and a regulation course, both beautiful. If there is anything missing from Chateau Lake San Marcos, I don't know what it could be. This is retirement at its best. We are so glad we made the move.

We checked out many senior communities in North SD county, Chateau Lake SM was very different from all the others. Better location (right next to the beautiful lake), better food, better grounds, just better!

Beautiful and elegant senior living, very quiet location and well-kept. Good security and amenities. My family and I have found that the food is superb... Nice views of lovely Lake San Marcos and nearby hills. Definitely a five-star place!
