I own Assisted Living Locators here in Tucson, and I’ve toured and placed families at Fairmount many times. I can honestly say that Daver is truly one of the jewels of the community. He is always helpful, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond ” even on his days off. Everyone loves him, and we are all so grateful he is there. Fairmount is tucked away from the busy main streets, making it such a peaceful place to visit. Sitting in the courtyards without traffic noise is something families really appreciate. One of the many things my families love ” and I do as well ” is the wide variety of musical activities offered to residents. There is always something engaging and uplifting happening. Fairmount also offers plenty of quiet spaces for residents who prefer a calmer, more peaceful environment. The courtyards are absolutely gorgeous, complete with chickens, bunnies, and I believe even a turtle! The rooms are beautiful, and each resident has their own private half bath, which families truly value. Another thing that makes Fairmount so special is that it is locally and family owned right here in Tucson. Owner Mattie Nason is actively involved every single day, and her love and care for the residents shines through in everything she does. She treats the residents like family, and it truly shows. I love Fairmount and everyone there!

Without doubt, this facility has more staff to resident ratio, however, if your family member is in cognitive decline, don't expect empathy nor time allowance for medication to take therapeutic effect before they may evict elderly resident. There didn't seem to be much compassion, or even understanding for the fact my 86 yr old dementia diagnosed loved one just had hip surgery less than 2 months prior. As a result of hip fracture & surgery, my loved one experienced loss of mobility and independence. There genuinely seemed to be lack of recognition that dementia diagnosed elderly commonly experience cognitive decline with physical decline after hip fracture and surgery. Providing two stars because several staff members truly are assets to the facility.

There is no way to describe the 5 star service provided by Daver and the entire staff. Not only did they assist, thus making the difficult move in process to be smooth and pleasurable for my brother, they set up his room so he was surrounded by his comfort items.. I get photo updates and my heart is at ease knowing my brother is being so well cared for. Thank you all for your dedication to working with people who become compromised with age. Fairmount Assisted Living is the best.
December 2025
When my son-in-law and I first visited Fairmount Assisted Living and Memory Care, we immediately saw that the owner, Mattie, Liihana, the manager, the staff, and caregivers had created an atmosphere with a template for all memory care facilities. While talking to Daver, the intake advisor in his office adjacent to the main care area, we heard much noise”clapping, laughing, and music. When we entered, we were astounded by the joyful atmosphere. In a huge activity/ dining area, Wild Bill and his guitar had about 35 residents smiling and clapping. All the residents were gathered in one huge room and almost every resident was there, in wheelchairs, on sofas, in chairs flanked by their walkers”all in semicircles facing Wild Bill. Fairmount’s focus on one building, and one large room, allows true socialization where there is a mixture of all types of personalities and of different ability levels. Dementia or no dementia, residents are human and need human interaction. Lively, upbeat, and engaging characterize Fairmount’s atmosphere. The multi-talented activities’ director, Victoria, manages to deliver varied activities throughout the day, with space for rest. Music and stimulating conversations dominate. The resident piano player/ singer and trivia emcee, Linda, is on-hand 4 days a week to engage the residents in banter and sharp repartee. Wild Bill comes every other week as do the banjo player/singer, and the piano-playing and singing duo, Peggy and John. Many other entertaining groups and individuals add to the spice. There is an in-house book club, where residents read aloud to the group in a huge room also used for a weekly water-color class. A writing group gathers at one of the large outside table to hash out ideas. And, always, arts and crafts, trivia, games, puzzles, and the favorite of all, bingo! Fairmount’s caregivers more that match the energy level of the activities. I am amazed daily by their non-stop routine. I’ve never seen one using a personal phone, treat a resident harshly, or fail to give the very best to each resident. They are fully knowledgeable about their charges and treat them with the greatest respect and patience. They, and, indeed, the entire staff are proud of Fairmount’s good reputation and proud of their work. My husband was extremely well cared for with his two assigned attendants, Blanca and Lorna. The same is true for the meal attendants who bring the food out to the residents and help them as needed. They are quick to respond to special requests. If a resident wants a cup of coffee at any time during the day, they get them one, just as they would have if they had been at home. Residents’ requests are always honored. All staff take their jobs very seriously. It shows in how purposefully they walk and communicate with others. The maintenance director, Jackie, manages to be in 3 places at one time and also tends to the feeding and watering of the animals. Besides the one building and one large common area, Fairmount also has another great architectural feature” a building design that maximizes light, nature- viewing, solitude, quiet, peace, and rest. The building is U shaped surrounding a beautiful courtyard with birds at their feeders, bunnies, chickens, roosters, and Penelope, the tortoise, and a beautiful wall-mounted waterfall whose soothing sound brings peace. All the windows that face the courtyard are huge and reach almost to the floor. A person sitting on one of the comfortable sofas or chair in the corridors that hug the U easily can look straight ahead to converse with nature: the animals, the many fruit trees and other greenery. The Wellness director, Jackie, is very organized and on top of all the medications for the residents. All medicines and all OTC items were given properly. Care plans, detailing the times, dosages, etc. of the medicines were simply and clearly recorded. If environments can be said to have attitudes, then the one at Fairmount is positive, joyful, and familial. Go see for yourself!

September 2025
Update: My father has been living at Fairmount since May 2024. After almost a year and half later, I am pleased and grateful to say that I can stand by my initial review 100%. From May 2024: My father moved into Fairmount three weeks ago and my family and I couldn't be more pleased, grateful and relieved with how well his transition to his new home has gone. The grounds and common areas are welcoming, lovely, very clean and well cared for. My father's personal living space is very comfortable and they encouraged us to make it as homey as we would like. I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful everyone is at Fairmount. My father requires a higher level of care than most folks, and the Fairmount team has been open, willing and on target with making sure he has the care and services to help him lead a quality life. They also reinforce a positive quality of life all around by making sure there are a lot of activities to keep everyone engaged and active as possible. Working with the team and watching them interact with my father, our family, and the other folks living there, has given us a high level of confidence in their abilities to take care of him. From the owner, Mattie, welcoming us to the Fairmount family on day one, to everyone who provides my father's administrative/healthcare/day-to-day care, my family and I cannot thank you all enough!

We have been extremely happy with the staff and facility at Fairmount! They have made every effort to support my 91 year old mother and have made her feel welcome and appreciated. The home is open with lots of natural lighting in the main room. My mother has stayed engaged with the varied activities offered.. music, games, trivia, stretching, etc. Very impressive. I highly recommend.
June 2025
I took all of my grandchildren for the first time today to visit my mom. The 12 yr old said "This is so nice! I would live here." The staff (in particular, Daver in admissions) have all been so helpful and thoughtful through the process of moms transition from her independent life. She is quickly making friends and feels well taken care of. She also really enjoys the beautiful outdoor spaces...complete with bunnies, chickens and a 20 yr old tortoise. I highly recommend Fairmount to anyone looking for a place that feels like home.
February 2025
My husband had a massive stroke in October of 2024, and had some intermittent behavioral issues. We were so lucky that Fairmount was able to accommodate him! Daver and Jackie and ALL the staff are outstanding. If I had a question, they were there to answer. If I had a need, they provided a solution to it. They lent us a recliner to use while he was there. They had a spare dresser that he was able to use in his room. If I saw what I thought was a problem, it was quickly addressed without any question. I run out of words to describe how well taken care of my husband was. Unfortunately, he passed away after only a few weeks of being there. Jackie, the Wellness Director informed me thoroughly of his care plan, and even suggested further care measures when she heard feedback from the carestaff about his behavior. There was no problem they couldn't handle, and their caring attitude for him *AND* for me and what I was navigating was evident in all ways from ALL the staff that I interacted with. A special note to Linda Updike, who is the Chaplain and pianist. She sat with my husband a couple times in the 2 days before he passed away. I am so very grateful for her - and SO GRATEFUL for the love and compassion, empathy and sincere care while he was there. Thank You isn't enough.

We have a family member living in the memory care unit. The staff is so kind, patient, and compassionate. Today, Selena, Jack, and Daver helped with getting her in and out of bed, getting her to the bathroom, and administering oral meds. All the staff I have come into contact with are wonderful. They really go above and beyond, and I am so appreciative. We feel so good having her there and being cared for so well.
December 2024
Fairmount Assisted Living was the fourth, final, and best residence where my mom lived with dementia. The environment was rich with song, compassion, conversation, and crazy chickens running wild. My mom was entertained and loved by a most compassionate staff. I have much gratitude and I highly recommend this residence.
November 2024
Admitting my mother to Fairmount was one of the most difficult decisions of my life and move-in day was hard. We didn't know what to expect, but over time, we discovered that Fairmount was the best place for her. Other places we toured were sterile, like a hospital, with seemingly unhappy staff. Not at Fairmount. The staff, the natural light, and the happy energy and music made all the difference. My mom lived a year and half in Fairmount - died there two months ago - and the people around her every day took excellent care of her at the end of her life. Thank you to the staff!
November 2024
My folks have just recently moved in and I have been very pleased with the front office staff as well as the caregivers. Everyone is friendly and kind, even going out of their way to help with the little things. The grounds are beautiful and shady, and kept up immaculately. Thank you all very much for taking such good care of my parents!
October 2024
Several years ago, our mother was at Fairmount and for the last three years my brother has been a resident of this fabulous assisted living facility! Tons of activities daily, excellent quality meals, and the biggest strength of this facility is the management and staff! The staff is kind, caring, attentive and efficient, which makes all the difference in the world! While we were away on vacation, a wonderful caregiver Kevin W. cared for my brother seven days a week while we were away. He would come in every morning to shower, shave, dress, and make sure our family member was well cared for. Kevin has a tremendous passion for the outstanding care of Fairmount residents! If you’re looking for assisted-living or memory care facility, please do not look any further, Fairmount is your place!

My Mom has been a resident of Fairmount since December 2022. It's been a great relief to have a place for my Mom to stay where I know she is safe, valued, and her physical and mental wellbeing provided for. It is clear that Fairmount treats her as a person who is part of a community, and not simply a patient to be dealt with. I'd like to particularly recognize the staff at the Rook House, where my Mom lives, for their exemplary attention and care. Nicole and Bonnie in particular, both do a fantastic job relating to my Mom, involving her in activities, spending time with her as a person, and ensuring that is is doing alright. I trust that Nicole and Bonnie keep in close contact with me about my Mom, and any needs or insights that may crop up. They both do a great job in helping to make sure my Mom's appointments and off-site outings go smoothly and on schedule when my Mom and I spend time together or take care of medical appointments. Kudos to Nicole and Bonnie!

Fairmount has been a God-send for the care of my mother. The facility has a beautiful layout with lots of natural lighting and access to outdoors. I love the resident and visiting animals. The ever presence of music and musical activities is so important to my mother's memory access and improved mood (I really love there being pianos throughout the facilities). And last but not least, the staff is exceptional. Nicole, Jackie, Marissa, Bonnie, Austin, and Patty just to name a few are caring, very responsive and always have a cheerful attitude to what must be a very challenging job at times.

Update to my original review. My mother has been there 2 years now and I can't say enough good things about Fairmount. She is well cared for and I am no longer.scared for her safety as I was prior to placing her there. She is truly in good hands. Thank you Jackie, Laahna, and Maddie for the amazing care. This facility has been a life saver, my mother's dementia was so severe I did not know how to handle her. We paced her at Fairmount and I think I was more nervous than her, but they were great and now my mom is happy. Thank you staff at Fairmount

My mother and father both reside at the Fairmont. We are so pleased with the care provided by the staff who always go above and beyond. The owners Mattie and Steve are amazing people and know each resident by name. It doesn’t surprise me that they have hired such quality and professional staff like Jackie, Linda and Patricia. When we walk in Linda is playing the piano or loving on her residents. Linda is such a positive and delightful person I always see her checking on everyone, whether a resident or not. Everyone there cares for my parents as if they were family. The place is clean with lots of activities. One last shout out to Jackie and Mattie for helping my father with a special diet! You all are amazing people!! Thank you for everything you do!!

I have been coming to Fairmount for years as a hospice nurse. The staff are extremely caring and professional. They treat their residents like family. I have never been to an assisted living facility like this one. They play games, listen to music (live music too) and do different arts and crafts. The food looks and smells delicious! They keep it very clean and it smells great! Jackie, the Wellness Director is excellent! Always making sure that my patients are comfortable and assuring that their needs are being met. Fairmount Assisted Living is a wonderful place and I highly recommend it!
February 2024
I simply don’t have enough good things to say about Fairmount Assisted Living and Memory Care. As difficult as it is to make the decision to place a beloved family member in memory care, the moment we walked in to visit, the dramatic differences that set it apart from other facilities were immediately obvious. Fairmount’s environment is very homey and welcoming. The staff was responsive and eager to answer all our questions and concerns. The environment in the common areas is clean, well lit, with comfortable seating areas and the residents always appear clean and well cared for. They also have multiple outdoor spaces to wander that also boasts a surprising menagerie of well cared for animals Linda the chaplain and entertainment guru has the most sparkling personality and it is glaringly obvious that she deeply cares about the residents. Jackie, the RN on campus is not only skilled in caring for her geriatric patients, she is highly organized and communicative with family, frequently updating us about the health and wellbeing of our mother, and always willing to address any questions or concerns we might have. The front office staff as well is always friendly and responsive. I’ve been very impressed with the techs and caregivers having observed them frequently interacting with residents with consistent patience and kindness, and they are also very responsive to family members concerns. We feel very blessed to have found an environment for our mother that embodies the care and concern that we would give her in our home, and are so grateful to Steve and Maddie for their obvious desire to help families care for their loved ones with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Fairmount House was such a blessing when we needed to find a place for my brother. A loving community who take such good care of their clients. I’m not sure what we would have done without Jackie! She was so accommodating and went out of her way to help us all feel comfortable placing Mark there. She is such an asset. So grateful and highly recommend Fairmount.

February 2024
When my great aunt was diagnosed with dementia it was devastating. She has always been the family go to for emotional support, help in trying times and the best hugs anyone can ask for so we wanted to take care of her the same way she has taken care of us our whole lives. We knew she needed 24 hour care and with our busy schedules we knew that it would be best for her to be in a facility but the thought of leaving her somewhere she was unfamiliar with and with people we didn’t know was worrisome to say the least. After searching for weeks for the best place for Auntie B we weren’t thrilled with any of the places we had visited so when we came to Fairmount we weren’t expecting much. To our surprise the staff was AMAZING! They are caring considerate concerned and compassionate! They are like a second family and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you for taking such great care of our family!

Fairmont ALF is such a wonderful place for your loved ones. If you find yourself needing a place due to not being able to do it yourself, they will treat your loved one as family. I highly recommend this Place, Jackie the Wellness Director is Amazing and very much involved getting to know the residents and making sure they have the proper plan of care. The med techs and the caregivers provide so much attention, including the kitchen staff, the chaplain, and the activities coordinator are all so wonderful.

I’m so glad I found Fairmount Assisted Living for my father, the care he receives from everyone is above and beyond what one would think when it comes to finding a place for your loved one!! Jackie and Yasmine have a very special place in our hearts, my dad loves his home, the ratio 15 to 20 patients to 1 caregiver is the normal and your love one doesn’t get the care needed but here the ratio is much better and better care is what one would look for when they need help with a parent. I just want to thank everyone who helps take great care of my dad! Thx everyone. Ken Goods Son Ernie
February 2024
My Dad has been at Fairmount for over a year now and it's no exaggeration to say this place saved his life! He was very isolated and lonely and prone to self-neglect, and now he is a thriving member of the community at Fairmount, participating in their robust social calendar, raving about the meals, and enjoying the company of other residents and staff. I've also been able to hand off some of the caretaking burden, which has saved MY life. The Wellness Director, Jackie, and her staff have been immensely helpful in managing my Dad's evolving medical needs and making sure he's well cared for. It's a big deal as I live out of state and coordinating things from far away is a challenge. When I do get to visit I'm always impressed by the fun things they're doing, the cute animals (chickens, rabbits, turtles) on the property, and the well-coordinated efforts of everyone working there (and the amazing volunteers) to make sure things run smoothly. As an out of town visitor they even make me feel special when I visit and I always get a warm welcome. Thank you Fairmount & staff!

I am 85 years old and toured here not too long ago for myself. Everyone was so friendly and everything looked so neat and homey! I ended up choosing to live elsewhere because Fairmount offers many more services than I need (independent living was more suitable) but if I ever need more help, Fairmount is first on my list!
October 2023
I love, love, LOVE this place. I started coming here as a college student and never left! The care is top-notch, all the staff are friendly, and each of the residents and their families add so much to the community. Can't wait for the holidays with these guys!

My mother lived here for several years, and after unfortunately being in a few other places, I can say with certainty and certainty that this is the best place for a loved one. From the facilities to the staff, everything is EXCELLENT. The place is beautiful, with lots of natural light and a fresh atmosphere. The facilities are brightly colored and impeccably maintained, and most importantly, the entire staff is incredibly professional and dedicated to their work!
April 2023
My wife had Alzheimers. I extensively researched for the best place for her care. My choice of the Fairmount was absolutely the right decision. She was treated with the greatest respect and kindness by the entire staff. I typically visited her twice a week and usually fed her. I was always welcome and made to feel part of the Fairmount family. I will be forever grateful for her care at a difficult time in her life. Carl Riemann

I cannot express how happy we are with Fairmount. To the person they are caring, attentive, and great communicators. Everyone treats my brother with respect and provides great care for him. And he is thriving as best he can. They are a true blessing in the middle of what is a hard situation and we are deeply, deeply thankful for Fairmount.
November 2022
My mom has been at Fairmount assisted living for over 2 years. After having terrible experiences at other assisted living facilities she has finally found her home. Fairmount Assisted Living treats her like family and we are so blessed to have them taken care of my mom. The care and staff is phenomenal. I rarely write reviews but I I'm gladly recommending this facility to anyone that needs memory care for their loved one. Lourdes

I am a quadriplegic and currently live at Fairmount Assisted Living. I have been here for almost 2 years. The caregivers here treat me very well and I get along with them. They always treat me with respect and integrity. Some of the staff who deserve special acknowledgment are Jackie, Lorna, Yasmine, Jana, and York just to name a few. I am lucky to have so many caring individuals in my life.
February 2022
Fairmount has been a wonderful place for my mother. The staff is fantastic, and communication is outstanding. They told me that the transition period would be about two weeks, but I thought it would be months. They were right! My mom says she loves it there, they take good care of her, and the food is great. I felt so guilty about placing my mom, but I could no longer care for her. After seeing how well she has adapted, I should have placed her sooner. I would give them more stars if I could! A special thanks to Marissa for everything, but everyone is fantastic. It is so difficult to see your loved one with dementia, but the staff is well trained and very caring, and I am so happy I found Fairmount.

The staff is outstanding at Fairmount and it is a great facility. We had a family member at Fairmont four years ago and now a second family member is a resident in Fairmont assisted living. Much of the staff from four years ago is the same which tells us how well run this facility is. This facility is family owned with numerous activities, delicious food and compassionate care! Please don’t miss the opportunity to visit Fairmount for your loved one!

Great activities, ratio of caregivers to residents is outstanding, food appears delicious and the campus is neat and fascinating. Chickens and one busy rooster as well as two sweet rabbits reside in the courtyard. Truly a unique facility!

This community is just what I was searching for but thought I wouldn't find. It is Goldilocks, not too big and not too small but just right! It has lovely grounds and lovelier people. The service from Mattie, Laahna and Jackie has been above and beyond. We've had a few delays and complications on our end but the team and especially Mattie has always been understanding and helpful. Often she's had a suggestion to offer or referrals that could help, she really seems connected. As this has been such an emotional journey, I really appreciate the can-do attitude and personal service from everyone I've encountered.

Everyone thought I Was dying. Everyone except my family and Fairmount employees. They saved my life. While in my hallucinations and delusions I remember the staff members talking with me and holding my hands telling me you don’t have to die I swear that was my turn around to recovery. I am now my old self and will be going home, yes going home... in just 6 days. The staff here at Fairmount are loving and touch my soul as I see them interact with the other residents that live here. Each day the employees come with a smile and take a personal responsibility in caring for the residents. Also I would like to add Fairmount is fun. Yes I said that... living here has been fun. The activities are numerous everything from planting plants, to making bird seed feeders to having a visit from a baby goat. If I should ever need a assisted living facility again I will be coming to Fairmount. Love all you guys at Fairmount. Xoxoxo

The facility is clean, and in all my visits, the caregivers were kind and respectful to my mother and the other residents (Lorna was wonderful!). However, I had two unpleasant experiences with management that diminished my otherwise positive view of Fairmount. To make sense of what follows, it will help to know that I live in Missouri and my brother lives in Tucson. Early on in my mother’s stay at Fairmount, my brother and I had an issue getting access to my mother’s assets. We had to jump through the legal hoops and work with my mother’s financial advisor. One month, we were short on cash when the rent was due. I called Mrs. Nason and explained the situation to her. She assured me that our situation was not a problem. About a week later, we got the funds and paid the rent. Then we were assessed a $400 late fee. Had Mrs. Nason been straight with me and explained that our situation WAS a problem, my brother and I could have paid the rent out of our own funds and reimbursed ourselves later. I felt that I was deliberately misled so that Fairmount could extract additional money from us. The second experience was immediately after my mother died at Fairmount on June 21, 2020. Two days after she died, we learned that my mother had tested postive for Covid. My brother, who sat with my mother the last few days of her life, had to wait a couple days before he could get himself tested, and then he had to wait about a week after that to get his results. In the meantime, to protect Mrs. Nason and her residents, my brother decided to stay away from Fairmount. I called Mrs. Nason, explained why my brother was staying away, and asked if she could give us a bit more time to remove our mother’s belongings from her room. I was assured that our situation was not a problem and that she would honor our request for more time. My brother got his negative Covid result at the end of June and then started clearing out my mother’s room. You can guess where this is going. My brother had the room cleared out by the end of the first week of July, and then we were assessed a $1000 rent bill for July. Had Mrs. Nason been straight with me and explained that our situation WAS a problem and that, Covid or no Covid, she WOULD NOT honor our request for more time, we could have hired our handyman to bring his truck to Fairmount and clear out our mother’s room well before the end of June (for a fraction of the $1000). Once again I felt that I was deliberately misled so that Fairmount could extract additional money from us. Very disappointing.

The facility is beautiful.
