My mother was a resident at Orchard Pointe. Every staff person we encountered was personable, kind and caring. They treated her at all times with respect and compassion. At the end of her life the staff were particularly attentive, not just to her but to our family as well. I received a sympathy card that was personally signed by the staff that cared for her after her passing. We are so thankful my mother spent her last months here. Its a wonderful place.

We feel confident and secure with the Orchard Point Surprise care team, as he is doing well and being cared for with TLC that is unmatched with similar facilities. The entire staff was great and the management group is top notice. My dad reluctantly agreed to enter an assisted-living facility following years of discussions. After a month at Orchard, he said "I should have done this sooner." I chose Orchard Pointe-Surprise for both my mother, and my mother-in-law. My mother resided at OP from 2014 to 2018. I visited several 'facilities', but my last stop was OP, and it was perfect. The staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming, not just to me but to my mom! We were embraced with their warmth, kindness and knowledge. My mother was a nurse, and her assessment of her care was, "They are excellent" In December of 2022, my mother-in-law fell and fractured her wrist. From the hospital, she was sent to rehab. She had trouble doing PT because her toe nails were long and painful. They needed to be clipped. The rehab would not clip her nails. The week before Christmas, on a Friday, she/l was given a 5 day notice of discharge. I immediately called Orchard Pointe-Surprise, and within 3 days, my mother in law was moved in and settled! She was cared for, loved on and treated with respect. The last six days of her life, staff members from administration, to caregivers, to transportation, and maintenance, came to pay their final respects and show me love and support. No place is perfect, but Orchard Pointe- Surprise was perfect for my family members. ~Eileen

There is a lot to be worried and concerned about these days regarding the care of your parents and/or loved ones. Choosing the right care facility is difficult at best and can be very unsettling with the changes that occur with age. I am happy to write this review, and can only hope to do the staff at OPS Surprise justice in expressing my overall level of satisfaction with the care provided to my parents. With my step mother, this was "the long good-bye".... and never once did I have any concerns about the excellent care she received during her stay. The staff, the management, and the extended health professionals always provided the highest quality of care and compassion, and I am eternally grateful to everyone for making her final chapter a pleasant one. For my dad...who after admitting his wife into OPS's care was a bit "lost" at times. They went out of their way to provide him with a seamless transition for her, and when it was time for him to became a resident, it was literally "like family"....in how they took care of him. The tone for the day to day care as well as the extended care is set by the leadership...and Rebecca and the entire team take it to heart, to personally provide the same level of care they would want for their family members. This "tone" filters all the way through the organization, and never once did I have any reason not to have total confidence in their system and their level of care. It is with great joy that I spend a few minutes attempting to convey my regards to the entire staff.... Thank you all for everything you do... and thank you for helping our family throughout this time of need. You are all to be commended for not only the job you do, but for the personal interaction, love and support you display all day...everyday. Thank you all again for your enduring support !!!

After touring several assisted living facilities in Surprise, we kept coming back to Orchard Pointe. From the staff to the environment and amenities, it just felt like home. We moved my mom and dad into Orchard Pointe in November 2019, just ahead of the pandemic. When COVID-19 hit, the OP staff were diligent about ensuring the health and safety of all the residents, while making sure they still had engaging activities and maintained social distancing. I can't say enough about the staff, including the directors, ladies at the front desk, activities personnel, the caregivers, drivers, nursing and dining room staff, and volunteers. Whenever I had a concern, they were all responsive and addressed issues in a timely fashion. It is evident that for the staff at OP, it's not just a "job," but rather a calling to serve with care and compassion. Their activities calendar is rich with a variety of offerings that engage residents and keep them busy. I remember with fondness the many Friday afternoon Happy Hours attended with mom, and looked forward to hearing the residents sing, especially "New York, New York!" Not too long ago, mom required more hands on care and was moved to OP's Memory Support unit. The Memory Support staff exhibited the same level of compassion for the residents in their care. It was heartwarming to see the connections staff members had with the residents. Sadly, we lost mom in June of this year; the staff was kind and responsive to all of her needs, even as she neared the end. I'm eternally grateful that we chose Orchard Pointe; if I had it to do all over again, I would still choose OP.

This is a very nice place and the staff are very attentive and kind. My uncle needs extra care and understanding and they are always looking out for him and I've seen them actively engaging with all of the residents. There are lots of activities for residents. Recently, they've added new roles to ensure communication between staff and residents on needs and you can see the difference. Our experience has been extremely positive and I'm very happy that we chose Orchard Pointe for my uncle.

My mother in law moved in here from in April 2023. She absolute loved this place! The food was wonderful with a wide variety of great and healthy choices. The caretakers were so sweet and considerate with her. Both my mother in law and the caretakers fell in love with one another. We can’t say more about the nurse, Sherrie. She is caring and very considerate with the care of my mother in law. She was available at all times, almost day and night with any of our concerns. The crafts and entertainment was over the top! Can’t wait to see the October performance ©. The receptionists and Management well we can’t say enough. They are like my family. We will miss them all terribly!! My mother in law wished for another 5 years so she could enjoy this place. Unfortunately, she waited until she was 90 to move here and her time ran out. God rest her soul. If you are thinking of sending your loved one to Orchard Pointe at Surprise, trust uswe only have good experiences with this place and all the people working here. Shelly Drews' CDP Class is a Must for professionals and lay people alike. Her knowledge and insight of dementia is a real "eye opener." Her personality, along with her hands-on demonstrations makes this class dynamic. Shelly's style of teaching holds your attention. She has her students "look through the eyes of someone with dementia." I cannot praise this class enough not only as someone who works with residents with dementia but also, as a daughter of a mother who had dementia. I've been in the medical field for 16 years, working in dementia care for the majority of that time, and I learned so much. Attended a Alzheimer's and Demenia Care Seminar by Shelly Drews. This was a great source of education. Shelly is not only knowledgeable about the subject she manages to include all participants in such a way that your expierance hits home in one way or another. I can not express enough how this training should be presented as a prerequisite for caregivers working with seniors at any stage of dementia. Our seniors deserve the respect and care that this training would offer to those entering the caregiver field at senior living facilities. I am not a direct care provider but it opened my eyes to a new level of how to direct my care management team to ensure a higher level of care for our seniors.

I am so Grateful for Shelly Drews and her heart towards Seniors and especially for those suffering from this terrible disease. What a gift and inspiration Shelly is. Shelly's wide range of experiences, and her wealth of knowledge in the area of dementia care is next to none. This class was fun and entertaining, and kept us engaged for the entire time. I picked Orchard Pointe for my mother because I was happy with it when i toured it and it is very close to my home so it is convenient . My mom has been there almost a year. On the most part I am happy with facility and she has settled in well. There are many staff members that go above and beyond there job. Early on I met Becky the activities director and she has made all the difference in my mom adjusting to her new surroundings. She is constantly giving me new ideas and ways to help keep my mom comfortable and engaged and if I am unable to do it Becky does. She listens to you and truly hears what you are saying and makes things happen. That being said there are a few areas i am not totally satisfied with and that is why i cannot give this a five star review. I feel like there is not good communication with the care staff and family. I am the guardian for my mom and decisions should be approved by me and discussed with me. they are not unless i ask. when i do ask i often cant get a straight answer or it gets passed to someone else. i have asked from the beginning about a care plan for my mom. I didn't even know one existed until i finally went to the nurse and even then i had to wait for it to be emailed to me. I also learned my mothers care plan should have been reviewed every 6 months is had not been done. I feel like the Orchard Pointe staff should do a better job at making sure the families that need to be are included. I understand this doesn't apply to all but many it does and its not being done. Overall i think it is a nice facility it is always clean and the people are all very welcoming. Donna has also helped me on many occasions. My mother really seems to enjoy the activities they provide as well.

Our experience here has been wonderful. After experiencing a fire in our home it was necessary for us to immediately find a new place to live. We looked at a number of places including large ones. When we discovered Orchard Pointe we felt a strong sense of home. Our church has a number of publications dealing with home. We consulted these and with prayer, and with God's guidance we were led to accept a temporary residence here at Orchard Pointe. After a few days we felt the friendliness of the Staff and Residents, and by the end of the month we feel completely at home, and at peace. Before the fire we had been struggling with household chores, and paying for four or five different services to accomplish this. Now all of these chores and payments are being taken care of in one place taking the stress out of our lives This is due to the professional care of the staff, and management. Among the things we love about this is the staff greet you with your first name. We fine the food is excellent. The activities are well planned, and entertainment is delightful. The facility itself is lovely. Warm and inviting. My parents had a very good sized 2BR 2BA apartment there and were comfortable with the living arrangement. The staff for the most part was lovely and treated our family well, especially Becky, Donna and all the receptionists. But the food was deplorable. NOT what you would want your aging parents eating. More like college cafeteria food. Soggy vegetables and too much breading and gravy to disguise whatever the bland meat or fish was underneath. And tiny portions even though my Mom repeatedly asked to be provided with more. My Dad essentially quit eating much because the food did not taste good except for breakfast, and lost weight there! Clothes and linens lost by the weekly laundry service, and a weak excuse provided when my Mom complained - Oh that’s a problem at all AL facilities. In addition OP had a great deal of turnover. Four nurses in less than the year and a half my parents were there. We just moved our parents to GA to be closer to family in February 2022. Learned of even more problems with OP from their new facility. No reassessment of my parents’ care plans at OP since 2020, while the new facility will do that at least every 6 months. Also, OP sent two different lists of my Dads medications to the new facility, resulting in the wrong meds being prepared and almost administered to him today. Until OP can tell you that all or most of their main staff has been there for at least 2 years, don’t move your aging parents there.

Our experience was so amazing I wrote the following letter to the executive director: Please accept my sincerest gratitude for the care your staff provided to my mother in-law, Elizabeth. When it became apparent that she could no longer live alone, I asked people in the aging field which assisted living community would they want their mother to live in. Orchard Pointe was highly recommended. Orchard Pointe not only lived up to our expectations, but exceeded them. And while Orchard Pointe is a beautiful facility, buildings are neither caring nor compassionate. It is the hope of every family member of a loved one in an assisted living community that the staff truly care for the residents. That is what we found at Orchard Pointe. Though her stay was brief, everyone was exceedingly kind and dedicated to making Elizabeth feel comfortable and welcome in her new home. Words cannot describe how hard everyone worked to get Elizabeth into your community. The extra hours worked and the extra effort that Carol put forth to help a person in need was truly a blessing to the entire family. And it speaks volumes of your community and its mission to provide the best for those who need it most.
