Good food, clean dining room. Serving on the other hand...If you are unfortunate enough to get Tayeesha, be sure to order everything while she's at your table, because she's not coming back. Can't remember the simplest items, even when you just ask for TWO items.

Update: Sept. 2025 Just had to add some pictures of their latest art show with everything from diamond dots to wood carvings and intriguing paintings and silver work jewelry. Call to check hours since I went during the ones listed and no one was there to provide information about a piece I wanted to buy or open the case for me to see it, so that was disappointing. *********** My friend just downsized and moved here to these independent living condos, inviting me to a delicious meal. I liked the way they displayed the entrees before we entered the dining room as they all looked so appetizing. I had the catfish and fresh, not overcooked string beans as well as the freshest tasting cream of mushroom soup I have had in a long time; however, the roll was lacking in quality and freshness, and the butter in the foil pack was too cold and hard to spread. My friend's sandwich was accompanied with what looked to be freshly made chips. It was so pleasant to have cloth tablecloths and everything served in an eye pleasing manner with friendly service. The view from her condo is so lovely as it overlooks the courtyard. On another occasion I had toured a unit which overlooked the lake, which was also very pleasing to view, so I'd look for one or the other if I were considering to move there. The location is convenient with the Valley Metro Rte. 138 and 106 nearby, 3 local restaurants that you could walk to, Sun City's Lakeview Rec Center and Viewpoint Lake Park just down the street, Banner Boswell Hospital across the street, and Lakeview Methodist Church across the other street. They hold regular art shows in their hallway gallery and I have enjoyed attending them since non-residents are invited. I only wish they would allow non-residents to buy a meal there just as Royal Oaks does in their main building since I think it's good for residents as well as non-residents to meet some new people and chat a bit. I think they should allow residents to have a pet if they want since pets are important for those living alone in their latter years and are great spirit lifters. This is a spacious facility and a designated area would be a great addition. In lieu of that, a nice aquarium in the lobby would be an appreciated touch. It is a true condo complex and those choosing to live here would do well to take an active role in governing it as part of the community and not just leave it to others and complain.

Mom lived and owned there for a few years in 2 different apartments. Great food, and on a lake! If you don't have a lake view you can see it from some common areas that are set up for visiting. Right next to Lakeside Park, and lots of walking paths. The price is super reasonable to buy, and much much cheaper than paying without owning. 24 hour nurse, and many amenities. People don't realize it exists. Mom saved $60,000 by living there instead of the comparable property she rented at previously

We had my Mom residing here for almost three years, until I decided to move her closer to me. I really hated to have to move my Mom from here, because I thought this place was great. The staff is caring and helpful. They are not an assisted living facility, but they do have nurses on duty around the clock. My Mom needed their services a number of times. They are right across the street from Boswell Hospital, and she is a cardiac patient. Being that close to their ER was a big plus when she was adjusting to being on BP meds. El Dorado is great if someone is getting to the point where they probably should not drive, they have bus service to local shopping centers, and mini-vans and automobiles to take residents to appointments. The Transportation staff is in-house, very professional and caring. I have never had a bad meal there, the dining services are good, and the folks there are sweet. I do miss them. (I used to fly out once a month to visit my Mom). I will say this. It is a typical CO-OP setup. The HOA fees still need to be paid, even if the unit is empty. This is no different from any other CO-OP or Condo community I have evaluated. If you are looking at El Dorado for short term, (less than five years) then I would recommend you wait until a rental unit becomes available. A lot of folks, if they have stayed there long enough, just sign their condos back over to the HOA at the end of their stay, so their heirs do not have to pay the HOA fees while waiting until the place sells. Once someone has been there about eight years, depending on your purchase price, it is cheaper than renting. As long as you live there long enough, it is a great value. Selling these units can be difficult in a down market. Also, the units that face the courtyard and the lake on the backside of the property sell more quickly. they tend to cost more, but, might be worth it to get a unit with a better view.

Visited my grandparents here... the grounds are nice and well-kept, and the food was decent. The residents seem social and there's a lot of activities going on. Their apartment is nice too, and not at all "retirement home"-like. I look forward to visiting again.
