I set my expectations for this place pretty high after my first walkaround and the recommendations I heard from others who had their loved ones housed at the facility for rehab. The facility is equipped with some sophisticated rehab equipment and my father's first stay there didn't go so badly. He was situated in the 500-unit and got decent care. However after his first return trip to the hospital he was placed into the 800-wing and that turned out to be much less satisfactory. He had two different stays in the 800-wing and on both occasions I felt like there were serious communication issues with the nurses and CNAs there. The CNAs either had trouble communicating in English or seemed very blase about being helpful (this was especially aggravating on his most recent stay because his arm was bound up after having a pacemaker put in and the fact he was limited by the arm he had use of was met with little acknowledgement by the staff in the facility). Meanwhile the nurses on call often downplayed his concerns but each time he requested to be sent back to the hospital he was admitted so there was something that needed to be addressed and Melbourne Terrace never really acted on it until it became pressing (and this also extended to other things, such as his oxygen concentrator not functioning correctly or the A/C in the room being too warm but all written off as minor or non-issues until much prodding was made to finally force a response). As of his most recent stay the hospital (Holmes Regional) seemed to share his opinion that there was an absence of invested care taking place. Getting help in general in that 800-wing could also take long stretches of time (particularly at night). I'm not sure if it's an understaffing issue or an issue with how diligent the staff is but in a place like this I would expect a response for situations fairly promptly. For my part getting in touch with relevant parties involved with his care has also been a challenge, as I've left voicemails for people but only seldomly got callbacks. In any event I've felt like my initial impressions of Melbourne Terrace have been severely hampered by his most recent trips there. The rehab process seemed to be decent (although he had some concerns with that as well that ended up taking some time to actually acknowledge) and, again, I don't doubt that the equipment they have is definitely cutting edge but as far as making residents feel comfortable and welcome I have considerable reservation at this time. Disappointing and I bit my tongue as much as possible, trying to stay positive about it, but I've come to the conclusion that something needs to be said. I don't necessarily think Melbourne Terrace is a bad rehab center but there is substantial room for improvement (especially towards the back of the facility) and I would really only recommend sending someone here if they are mostly self-sufficient and simply need rehabilitation. If you expect invested care for a loved one this was not a glowing experience.

I want to thank Melbourne Terrace for the wonderful care they gave to my father. After his first stay in the hospital they got him back to where he was physically before he had the pneumonia. He came home and it was so great. And I can never thank them enough for that time with him at home. But three weeks later he got sick again and bounced back and forth between the hospital and Melbourne Terrace three more times in the next 2-1/2 months. The nurses are so sweet and compassionate. Knowledgeable. Dad enjoyed them so much. And I want to send a special shout out to Robert in physical therapy. He was absolutely wonderful to my father. Dad loved him. The office worked with me several times over some insurance issues. Couldn't have done it without them. The facility is always so clean. They have many many interesting and fun activities for the patients. Friends and family can come and go anytime day or night. Pets are welcome. Beautiful courtyards. The food was delicious. I cannot recommend it enough. You would not have to worry about your loved one there. My Dad did pass in the hospital on July 4th. But I want to say... No matter how many times he returned to Melbourne Terrace they worked their hearts out for him. Never gave up on him. And I will be forever grateful. ™

After a bad fall with multiple fractures, and after careful research, we chose Melbourne Terrace for my rehabilitation.It was the perfect choice. It is a very clean facility. I had a spacious, private room and bathroom. Good nutritious food. Excellent attentive nursing staff. Thank you Loretta, Madison and CNA Natavia who would always go above and beyond. The physical and occupational therapy department is absolutely the best. A special thank you to Cliff who was absolutely amazing, very intuitive, professional, very caring and fun. He restored my mobility from not being able to walk, to walking unassisted , no cane. I always felt challenged but safe. Not to take away from everyone else in this great department.They became my family. I now continue with their excellent outpatient rehab. I live out of state and was looking for a place for my grandmother. When given choices, I noticed that Melbourne Terrace had a "red hand", saying abuse and neglect. Thankfully the case manger took the time to explain to me that it was an elopement with no harm done to the patient and that I should look into Melbourne Terrace because they are a great facility. We decided to put my grandmother at Melbourne Terrace. Since then she has made excellent progress and is starting to walk again. The staff is exceptional including the doctors, nurses, CNA's and therapy. In my opinion, this facility definitely deserves 5 stars and I am so grateful and blessed that we did not let the "red hand" deter us from choosing this wonderful facility.

This place is underrated. The people here are wonderful. From the front desk to the front offices to the activities, physical therapy, nurses, cleaning staff and the cna's are just so kind and go above and beyond what they are paid. All of them go above and beyond. They take such good care of my mama. I'm in direct contact with so many of them. They have so many activities there from spa day to old movies and popcorn. They have a library and a salon. They have Arts and crafts and puzzles and exercise classes. They have 3 physical therapy gyms and exercise pool. They take trips to the mall and Walmart. They have church services and singing and dancing in wheelchairs! It's hard having to put a loved one anywhere that's not in your home. I felt a feeling of failure that I just couldn't handle her. I did a lot of research and met with a lot of people. This place from the start was her home. My mama knew it and I knew it. God sent us here. We are blessed to be here.

This might have been a decent place years ago, but our experience from may-June 2024 was terrible. Nursing staff spent most of their time sitting on their phones. Call buttons were ignored for as long as an hour. Food was mediocre at best. Care such as assistance with showers was almost nonexistent. Patient fell twice because staff wasn’t assisting them as needed. Diabetes management was absolute minimum required. Staff had frequent loud conversations about how they didn’t want to be there and too many people responded to requests with that’s not my job, I’ll try to get someone for you even for the simplest things. If a loved one has to stay- be sure to visit everyday and you might receive slightly better service- but we did not.

This is my personal account of Melbourne Terrace, in my own words. My wife arrived at the facility after being released from the hospital. I was hopeful that she would receive good care. I spent multiple nights and days at the hospital trying to keep her alive and safe. After she was admitted to Melbourne Terrace, there was a number of staff members trying to make her comfortable. I was always pleased only to come back to her smiling and happy. Sitting up, walking and doing well. Staff such as Julie and Sunita had answers and time to talk assuring that all was always well. My wife is progressing. I feel that especially Brittney, Robin, Jerlyn and Kaylin did and are doing an above and beyond treatment and care of my wife. Their professionalism, personality and detail to care is overwhelming and a big part of the reason my wife is getting better. PT and OT, Yee and Camile, are doing a fantastic job making her strong again and their enjoyable personality helps with daily goals. Our guardian angel, Christine, makes sure my wife is fed good. The meals are as good as restaurant quality and they even went out of the way to get vegetarian food as my wife is one. When you hear the music, it is probably coming from one of the live musical groups playing for us. There are ice cream socials, birthday parties, holiday parties, Bingo, etc. The daily paper keeps us totally informed of what is happening. The monthly calendar lets us plan our month out, so we don't miss anything. Rebecca keeps us on our toes, preparing for the day is discharged. I feel Melbourne Terrace is the best rehabilitation facility available. The cleaning staff does an awesome cleaning job, just look at the floors and detail cleaning of each room. The ever present friendly staff, all in clean uniforms, cannot be beat. From the greeting at the front door, to asking direction and show the way, they are the best! BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE MELBOURNE TERRACE IS THAT ALL THE STAFF IS FAMILY AND THE FACILITY IS HOME AWAY FROM HOME! M. Kasza

My wife fell in January with a nasty broken right arm. She needed Physical and Occupational Therapy Rehab to regain mobility and use of her right hand and arm. Melbourne Terrace Rehab Center provided excellent care for her. She was housed in a very pleasant room. The meals were quite tasty. I enjoyed evening meals during my visits. If I was only given one word to describe Melbourne Terrace, it would be "family". Today I am going home, and as I sit here and reflect on the last 2 1/2 months, I am actually sad. I have made so many friends here. The love and compassion you feel is amazing. You can tell, the staff here from administration, (Tina, thank you for doing what you do!!), right down to the custodial staff, truly enjoy what they do!! If your loved one has any limitations and you care at all about them, avoid this facility at all costs. OT and PT staff were the only thing that keeps me from giving it one star. The intake nurse was frazzled, complaining that because my Mom was a late transfer, she was going to have to stay late. CNA actually yelled at my husband, Mom and I that she didn't have time to take my Mom to the bathroom, just soil herself and she would come in later to clean her up.

My husband needed skilled nursing rehabilitation after pneumonia and sepsis, and we were informed that Melbourne Terrace was the best choice in Brevard. Although 45 minutes South of our home, we chose it for his critical rehab. Melbourne Terrace did not disappoint! The cleanliness was excellent, and the staff was professional and caring. Of course, it is best to have an involved advocate in the form of family member or friend, but the staff was very responsive to questions and requests. I would recommend Melbourne Terrace to anyone seeking excellent care for their loved one.

My 89 year old mother came to our home in Palm Bay from Washington state to try to stay for the first time for the winter. Within the first 2 weeks she tripped and broke her hip. After surgery and 3 days in the hospital I received a call that she'd been released and where was she being rehabbed? 4:30 pm and Noone had mentioned a released date let alone what we would need to do or where to go. A wonderful lady in billing called ahead and set up an appointment for me to meet and get a tour of Melbourne terrace in the next 15 minutes before the office closed at 5. Within 15 minutes she had a room and was transported. She was so scared and had no idea where she was, but the staff was so very calm and caring. She was there for 5 weeks with wonderful doctors, nurses and visiting angels. The food was wonderful, PT incredible and 5 1/2 months later she's back in her own home. She walks with a cane, no wheelchair or walker, and was on her knees planting bulbs in May. Melbourne Terrace Rehabilitation got my mother back on her feet and made it possible for her to have a quality of life that we weren't sure was possible. My Dad was there a couple of times for rehab after falls. They are short staffed as most of the care facilities, but the staff they have works very hard. The only complaints I had was that it took too long to respond to a patient’s call for assistance, and my Dad was served food he was not allowed to eat. However, I had a meeting with the people in charge and got positive results. Please communicate any issues you may have, and visit often at any facility that is caring for your loved one.

It is hard to put into words the incredibly unexpected positive experience our family had while my mom was a patient in Melbourne Terrace. She is 91 years old, and over the years has spent a significant amount of time in rehab facilities throughout our community. In addition to that, I worked in the healthcare field for over 30 years in a variety of different Administrative roles so I am writing this not only from a personal perspective, but from a professional perspective as well. From the first day that my mom arrived, she was treated with the utmost respect and compassion that we have ever experienced. Each staff member that we have encountered has gone above and beyond what I am sure is required of them. The feeling of joy is palpable from the moment you walk through the doors, and each and every person has been an absolute joy. If I leave a voicemail for a staff member, I normally get a call back within a few hours. This has been so comforting and has not been the experience we have had during her other rehab stays. My mom’s older sister passed away while she was there, and from the moment someone saw her crying and knew something was wrong, they surrounded her with hugs, comfort, and genuine compassion. For the rest of the evening, they stopped in just to check on her and see how she was doing. The gratitude that my family feels in knowing that she was being comforted emotionally until we could get there to be with her is something we will never forget. The most significant thing that occurred while she was there has brought peace not only to her, but to my entire family. She has always been so fearful of having to spend whatever remaining time she has left in a facility such as Melbourne Terrace. Not only does she not feel afraid of this anymore, but she told me that she is going to miss her caregivers as they have become like family’ to her. I have been caring for my mom for almost 18 years since my father passed away and can honestly say from the bottom of my heart, that this is the most peace she has felt in her soul in all those years. Her fear is now dissipated, which is going to allow her to enjoy whatever time she has left with peace in her soul. God Bless the leadership at this facility that fosters such an amazing environment of joy, peace and serenity during what can be a very difficult and challenging times for families. I worked for Vitas and understood the hospice piece of the aging puzzle, but wow, what a different perspective I have now of this level of care. It is humbling to know that such caring staff exist in an environment that can be so demanding and difficult at times. To all the staff at Melbourne Terrace, we thank you for this gift of peace to my family, but most importantly to my precious mom who can now age in peace without any fear. That is priceless, cherished, and will never be forgotten!

This facility is head and shoulders above the rest. I’ve had the unfortunate opportunity to be very familiar with SNF’s due to a family member’s accident. This puts the others to shame. They do it right. The residents are cherished, respected and encouraged. The faculty is caring and attentive to every detail. The management and Director of this facility is unmatched. What a quality, inviting, well run facility! I can’t say how thankful to have found this place!

When it comes to choosing a rehab for a relative, no facility in this area compares to Melbourne Terrace. The administrator stayed after hours to personally greet my family member upon his admission and make sure he was situated and comfortable. The therapy team is unparalleled; each therapist worked with was kind, motivating, and was able to get him up walking again and regain strength. As someone who has worked in senior living facilities, Melbourne terrace is the only place I trust and recommend time and time again!
