While visiting family in Green Valley, I had the opportunity to tour Canyon Valley Memory Care Residence”and I’m so glad I did. As a Director at a memory care community in Minnesota, I’m always interested in seeing how other communities approach care and engagement. I had the pleasure of meeting with Yereth and Johanna, and I truly appreciated their professionalism and willingness to take time out of their day to share their approach and insights. The community itself is absolutely immaculate, and more importantly, it’s filled with residents who are clearly happy, engaged, and well cared for. What stood out most to me was their strong focus on life enrichment, particularly their thoughtful use of the Montessori Method to create meaningful, purposeful activities for residents. If you are looking for memory care for a loved one in the Green Valley area, I would highly encourage you to visit Canyon Valley Memory Care Residence. It’s a beautiful community with a dedicated team doing things the right way.

We just loved our experience with Johanna. She was super positive and upbeat and made our time there such a joy. She requested I play piano and clarinet at her Halloween event last October. It was obvious the residents there just loved her and the event was well planned and executed. I would be happy to participate in any future events at this facility. Would highly recommend.

Canyon Valley Memory Care is a great place to bring your loved ones! They have personalized care and they take time to get to know them with great activities. This place has the best activity director she is really dedicated to give the residents a unique experience and they always enjoy everything they do here.

Sahuarita Boys Varsity Basketball had a great time at their Christmas event. Johanna Turnbull was excellent and very welcoming. It was a fun afternoon and great way to give back to the community.

Took my therapy dog to their Christmas Festivities. They had a band and Santa and lots more. We had a wonderful time. The residents seemed to be enjoying it too. They know how to put on a party. They go all out for their people.

We recently moved a family member to Canyon Valley for individualized assisted care. Needless to say this kind of experience was traumatic and a challenging adjustment for all of us. However, we couldn’t be more pleased with the level of caring given by all the staff. From the moment we entered the building we knew it was the right choice: the decor was cheery and welcoming”the way a home should be. Most importantly the variety of daily activities insures a social interaction seldom evident in other nursing homes. The activities director, Johanna Turnbull goes above and beyond to interact with patients to find what sparks their interests. She recently hosted a true CARNIVAL complete with games, balloons, face painting ”everything to make kids young and old happy. The fire department was represented and many volunteers staged various games such as putting golf and bean toss . There were food trucks and goodies. Best of all both the residents and their families thoroughly enjoyed the get together. We made new friends and memories. Thank you Canyon Valley for bringing the best out in all of us.

Our food truck recently had the pleasure of being part of a fun little carnival event hosted by Canyon Valley Memory Care Residence, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the residents and participants all seemed genuinely happy and excited as they came up to the truck. The positive energy was contagious. A big shoutout to Johanna, the Lifestyle Director, who went above and beyond to accommodate us. Our truck and trailer are on the larger side, but thanks to her planning and hospitality, everything worked out perfectly.

Joanna, the Activity Coordinator, absolutely loves her residents. When the music is rockin' she is rockin with them and getting them to participate in the activities that she schedules, like music, food, guessing games, and encourages people to " Get up and Boogie". Recommend them for any family needs for Alzheimers/Dementia with their commitment to make them feel at home. You Rock!!!

There is no higher quality of care for your loved ones than Canyon Valley....a special shout out to Johanna who held our hand, cried with us, and smoothed the way before us with professionalism and empathy. Johanna spends many hours planning, preparing, and making the residents feel special. Isabel "Izzy" has been energetic in her desire to meet our every need. Terri has helped us sort out the final paperwork and finances with professionalism and competency. April, the head of the med techs, sees that medication administration is seamless. Robin is available and willing to take on any and all technical issues like TV, hanging pictures, and I am quite sure his list goes on and on. The caretakers are friendly competent and invested in each of the residents...and Cindy does an amazng job with housekeeping and laundry. We are learning to enjoy mom in a new and meaningful way. Our Mom has been living in Canyon Valley Memory Care home for over a year. As she has transitioned from service level to service level, she has received the utmost and wonderful care from the caregivers. Medical staff, caregivers, hospice staff, Activities director and staff, facilities, housekeeping, everybody! Everyone there treats everyone with respect, love and care. My mom has the biggest smile on her face as the various caretakers stop and see how she's doing or taking care of her in some way. In my opinion, a telltale sign of a business well run is the happiness of the staff and I can say the Staff at Canyon Valley Memory Care is very happy and kind.

I'm a private caregiver, one of the first people I met at Canyon Valley was Johanna Turnbull. She always has a beautiful smile that lights up a space, along with her upbeat personality. She helped me get acquainted with the staff and is always there to help. I took my client to the beautiful Tea Party she had arranged, we had a lovely time, and her garden project seems to bring joy to the residents. They seem to enjoy taking care of them. My father has been a resident at Canyon Valley. He moved here from a more expensive and bigger facility, where all the rooms were new but the staff treated residents like luggage in a storage facility. What a difference here: personalized activities, events, excercise, outings, and specific attention to everyone. I think the secret sauce is Johanna, who is filled with energy, hugs, ideas, and the force of personality to follow through on it all. The rest of the staff pays careful attention and really go out of their way to make each day fun and interesting for all the residents. One story to summarize. A while back, a new resident came with a number of difficulties. He was young, wanted to get to his truck, and not very responsive to others. In a few months, he had become an invaluable friend to everyone, helping serve people and plan activities. This happened because CYMC saw him as a person instead of a problem, and directed his energy accordingly. Many other places would have tried to quiet or solve him, either medicating or frustrating him further. It’s the people here that matter.

My mother moved in a little over a year ago and I could not be more pleased with how she has thrived there. Johanna constantly invents new ways to engage the residents with games, art projects, physical activities and community events. Johanna and the staff make placing a loved one in a facility so much easier when you see how well they are taken care of.

Kudos to ALL Canyon Valley Memory Care STAFF! They have made the difficult decision made almost 4 years ago far better than I anticipated. Instead of going from bed to chair to table at home my husband now receives consistent medical, dietary, and physical activity care. When, I visit he is rarely in his room. Yes, his dementia has increased and he is now receiving additional Hospice care. Physically he IS Better. My workaholic farmer/rancher husband is having fun and engaging in activities like Bingo? painting? reading the newspaper to less able pals? All the kudos Activities Director, Johanna Turnbull, receives are well deserved. She uses the SPARK Montessori-based philosophy of activities work.

My mother in law has been at Canyon Valley for a little over one year. Without exception, all the staff I’ve met on my repeated visits has been wonderful and caring. There are three people who deserve mention as they are the cream of the crop. First, there is a young woman who works in another unit, but always comes to my mother in law and calls her grandma and tells her how much she loves her. My mother in law eats this up. Next is a nurse named Terra who has the patience of a saint. I’ve seen her interact with many of the patients and she is always kind and encouraging. This poor woman works very hard and still takes the time to tell me when she sees me that she is praying for my health. To me, that is genuine love for other human beings. Lastly, Johanna is an amazing power ball, who comes up with so many interesting ways to keep the patients engaged. Not long ago, she had the patients form committees to aid the victims of the fires in Hawaii. I can’t tell you how excited the residents were that they were helping other people. She genuinely cares for all. Her enthusiasm and compassion is contagious. The place would not be the same without her!!!

I want to thank Canyon Valley Memory Care for taking such good care of our mom/mother in-law. Johanna Turnbull is such a blessing to have there. She is like a ray of sunshine when she walks in. I placed my great aunt and her close friend here after researching all available memory care facilities in the Green Valley area. I chose Canyon Valley because the facilities were impressive, the staff seemed professional and caring, they were willing to take on the responsibility of caring for my aunt's small dog, and they agreed to accept Medicare payment once the residents' personal finances are exhausted, which many first-rate senior residences will not. Canyon Valley lived up to our expectations. The facilities were clean and attractive, the staff was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. My aunt and her companion were very happy and well cared for. So was their dog, who outlived them and is now a beloved member of the community.

My husband has been a resident here for 8 months. The staff all treat him (and other residents) with compassion and care. It is as though they are caring for their own beloved grandparent. The food looks wonderful, the faciity is clean, and I am so comfortable with the care he is receiving.

We have been very happy that we chose Canyon Valley Memory Care for our mother. It was comforting to know they took, and continue to take, every precaution in protecting the residents through the COVID pandemic. The staff is great. Now that visitors are allowed again, we love seeing all the energy their activities director Armando brings to get the residents involved and entertained!

I frequently refer patients to this facility. The interaction with patients with the patients with memory loss is amazing. The patients are always clean and well taken care of. I also find the staff friendly and caring. This is a great place to place your loved one.

As a licensed fiduciary, whose practice is limited to serving the elderly and their families, I totally endorse Canyon Valley for patients in the beginning to middle stages of dementia. In my 13 years of practice, I have evaluated well over a hundred care facilities, and my 91 -year ,who has lived there for 7 months, is doing great. In many assisted living facilities, there are no activities, or once weekly at most and that usually consists of bingo. The elderly are left to watching TV or going out into a patio, while Canyon Valley offers a full daily schedule of crafts, "sing alongs", dog therapy, to name of a few plus frequent outings in their bus. They also take residents to all doctor appointments. Additionally, they have a full-time RN, who is also on call when needed. An outstanding geriatric doctor visits Canyon Valley residents on a regular basis. This facility also offers services to the very poor, which is rare is such a luxurious setting. Lastly, they have a fantastic chef who tries his utmost to meet the challenges of finicky eaters, while serving daily attractive, nutritious meals. It is difficult at best to run a facility 24/7 and doing it with the grace and caring shown by the management and staff of Canyon Valley. For this I applaud them.
