Independence Village is a wonderful senior community in Midland, MI. We attended a Food Truck Friday event with our food trailer "What About Waffles!?" The event was fantastic; Independence Village brought in a DJ and encouraged dancing and fun for the community. The staff are so kind, gentle and warm toward their residents. The residents love their home. The building is gorgeous and sprawling. If there was anywhere I would recommend for a family to encourage a loved one to stay in their golden years, this would be the place. You can just tell that the residents are content with where they are. We loved taking part in their afternoon of fun and look forward to working together in the future Thank you, Independence Village for loving your people so well!

I honestly love everything about this facility. This is truly a place I would feel comfortable placing my parents if need be. The activities department phenomenal. There is always something going on for residents to do rather a group setting or self lead groups. Residents are engaged and ultimately getting the best quality of life. Lastly the employees are so wonderful, and welcoming and goes above and beyond; the courtyard is beautiful.

We had a wonderful time working as the food truck for the Food Truck Friday party at Independence Village! We were greatly impressed by the dedication, generosity and kindness of the staff and the hospitable community environment there. Staff members escorted residents back and forth, inside and outside all day with great caring and kindness. The grounds are beautiful and the hearts of the people working there make it even more so. We worked the most with Katie, the Life Enrichment Director, so her name is the one I most easily remember and she is an excellent organizer, gracious host, and terrific team leader. The residents warmed our hearts. We had a great experience.

The Easter Brunch atmosphere was amazing. The Easter Bunny made the rounds and took photos with everyone. The food was delicious and, as always, the staff was helpful and friendly. I don't know exactly what they did to those potatoes, but they were amazing! The omelette station is always a huge hit with my family as well.

Outstanding place for Mom and Dad. From the first time we moved my parents in, nearly four years ago to this day, my brother and I are always thankful for the care and grace displayed by all of the Staff at Independence Village. My Mom has been on her own here for two years now. Luckily we are ably to visit mom frequently. Two things I've come to enjoy most include the activity level for residents and the special events, brunch! Originally we were worried my mom would be lonely and sad. The entire staff is relentless in soliciting participation. Mom would pass on exercise class or other events if I was visiting. What love now is that she says that she really should go. Nothing makes me happier than seeing mom participate. I've even joined in some dominoes games and a couple of exercise classes. On to the events and especially brunch! I've been able to join mom and some of her friends for three special brunches so far and will be here again this next Sunday for the next one. What a special event for the residents and their families. The layout is pristine and the food is fantastic. You can tell how much preparation has gone into the whole event and I can only imagine what the Chef has done. I love that fact that they are always slightly different. All of the regular buffet choices are there, but then there is always an extra. Whether it's turkey or beef or even lamb last month, it's always a treat. Just a great brunch and way to connect with family!

Tomorrow I am returning to give a 2nd part of my presentation on historical research and how to "build a life story of someone who died 120 years ago". I am excited and looking forward to visiting and sharing more of my work with them!

What a wonderful place! The staff was welcoming, kind and genuine. It was amazing to see how much they cared for everyone there. The staff went above and beyond to make each resident feel loved and cared for. From the first moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile, and genuine kindness from the receptionist. The care givers were engaging and involved in making everyone feel at home. The food was top notch! The management team was on the floor, and participating in every aspect of the community. The whole building was meticulously clean and bright, but with a definite sense of the comfort of home. The life enrichment team was so caring and went the extra mile to get every resident and staff to have purposeful and meaningful experiences! I can not recommend this community any higher. I would trust this residence with my loved one any time! Keep doing what you are doing! You definitely do shine!

I recently visited Independence Village of Midland, and all I can say is WOW!!! Not only is the facility clean and well maintained, but the love you feel when you walk thru the front door is truly inspiring. Independence village is an engaging community of residents, regardless of care level. Whenever I visit the community, I always find residents socializing with one another in the many common areas, someone putting together a puzzle, and others walking the ever-turning, nook style halls. Their calendars always look full of diverse activities both in and outside the community e.g. live music, informative presentations, and exercise. However, not so many activities that one couldn't have time to oneself or with loved ones. It's seems very private and comforting while still having a community not far from one's front door. There is a beautiful court yard to view from inside and out. The staff always seems helpful, genuinely caring, and busy making everything just right. If you or a love one are looking for a retirement, assisted or memory community, schedule a visit and check out Independence Village for yourself.

I visited Independence Village recently and was extremely impressed. From the check-in counter as I arrived, to the Upper Management, everyone was kind, helpful and welcoming. The staff seems very happy to be there and the interaction with residents seems like a large family. They knew everyone by name and interacted with each we encountered. The facility itself was beautiful, clean, smelled wonderful from lunch and had gorgeous decor and furnishings. I passed by a daily schedule and saw many activities available throughout the day. After my time there, I shared my experiences with others and noted that I'd be very happy to be a resident at Independence Village myself. I'm not surprised to see them listed at the top of "Places to Live" or "Local Retirement Communities" when using online search.

I recently was able to visit this facility, and was genuinely happy of the overall experience. The building is secure, and safe, and very clean. The staff is cheerful, and helpful, from kitchen workers, aides, handymen, and management. The residents were happy, and seemed to have a good relationship with all the workers. I recently moved my mother into Independence Village and could not be happier with the people and facility. All of our questions have been answered in a timely manner. The food is amazing - definitely not institutional/cafeteria food. Lots of choices every day and served at the table. Mom has adjusted well and made new friends. They have a full schedule of activities everyday that residents can choose to participate in. The apartment is very nice - she has plenty of room for all of her furniture and belongings. The whole facility is very well maintained. You can tell the people working her enjoy their jobs and want to help the residents with anything they need. I highly recommend Independence Village if you have a senior looking for a facility.

We decided to keep her in her apartment with the help of Laurus and their top notch hospice team. After having parents in several sections of Independence Village for 9 years I can say that the working staff were excellent and my parents had great care. On the other hand, the management is definitely profit driven, and do not miss an opportunity to maximize their profits as their primary goal. Communications were sporadic at best. They have some ridiculous policies and charges that are alway to the benefit of the corporation. 30 days notice required for a death? What? Update: In the owner response is a phone # which I have never been able to get through after numerous attempts. All of the subsequent billing has been very amateurish and lacks any details or explanation. Their 30 day policy exists to extract another month of rent (and "care") from each dying elderly person. All very cleverly done, legal and shameful. I was never able to reach a person a the provided phone numbers for my review response. Typical stonewalling.

My siblings and I couldnt be more happy with the way my mom and dad were welcomed into the Independence Village community. It took a few weeks for them to feel settled, but they are so much healthier and happy. The caregivers have been diligent about attending to their needs, the food has been excellent and the activities staff has been amazing and creative with providing them with fun and entertaining activities during these challenging times. Overall everyone has been so flexible and accommodating to my parents needs. What a relief to our stress to know my mom and dad are finally being taken care of in a way thats kind and respectful. My mom came from her own condo so it was an adjustment for her and now she tells others that it is a good place. We are glad that she chose Independence village!

My 90 year old Mom has lived here for the last two and a half years, two in Independent living and the last 6 months in Assisted living. It has been a great experience, providing Mom with security, activities and good food. The staff helped us navigate the transition from Independent to Assisted living in the middle of the COVID crisis and brought us and Mom along gently, but firmly, as Moms dementia was worsening and she needed more structure in her days. While challenging, due to the isolation, for the last six months, the staff has worked very hard to fill the days with activities, including FaceTime appointments and delivery of Thanksgiving letters and (soon) Christmas gifts. All the while with no COVID cases in the community. Well done!

Residents are wonderful and pleasant to be around. Always up for telling stories of their past. It truly makes history come to life. Employees are friendly and compassionate even on the busier days. The amount of knowledge the employees possess of the residents and their history really shows how much they enjoy being around them. The cuisine served is extraordinary. The kitchen will also work around dietary needs if need be. The housekeepers make sure the property is sparkling and sanitized from ceiling to floor. Maintenance makes sure the property is taken care of in a timely and fashionable manner. Amount of activities going on throughout the weeks are beyond compare. They have something to offer every resident no matter what their hobbies may be! The recent Havana Nights celebration really gave the culture and celebration even more allure! All in all this establishment is truly top notch. But hey, seeing is believing! Come in for a visit and watch the captivating environment sweep you away!
