Everything is great! The only problems I see are that we need more residents although our new sales director Melissa Flores is doing a great job in bringing in new residents. We also need to keep our good employees. Unfortunately, some of have had apparently their hours cut because of the lower census here. There has however been a lot of good changes made by our new executive director Michelle Villarreal who listens to what the residents need.

My mom had a brief stay in Memory Care after being hospitalized for a hip fracture. She had a number of health issues and the staff at Discovery Commons couldn't have been more patient or welcoming. They were very responsive to any of my family's needs and even though I live far away helped me feel connected to my Mom's care. They were always thoughtful and kind.

My father Richard Kennison (colonel) is in excellent care at Discovery Commons Cypress Point. My wife and I came from Maryland to Fort Myers, Florida to visit and we were very impressed to say the least. Everyone from the front desk staff to the wonderful nursing staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My wife and I felt very welcomed and my father was very happy with his friends he shares meals with etc.

I perform almost every month at Discovery Commons. The residents and staff are always pleasant. I have never had anything but praises for this community. Every time I sing, I have a full house and everyone is up either dancing or singing along with me. Everyone has a wonderful time! I always enjoy my time there with everyone. A lot of them come up to me and talk to me when I’m done. I always make myself available for them and vice versa. I highly recommend Discovery Commons.

I moved into Discovery Commons, on a temporary basis, a little over three months ago. I had been suffering from severe fatigue resulting from a non-communicable illness, for which I had been hospitalized, and was in need of somewhere to recuperate. I had visited Discovery Commons previously, in anticipation of my hospital stay, and been so impressed with the staff and the facility, that I saw no reason to look elsewhere. Ten weeks later, I am reinvigorated and ready to return to my house unaided, 5 miles away. The nurses, med techs, caregivers, aides, etc were everything that I could have hoped for, and my prescription medications were managed for me throughout my stay. Additionally, the meals far exceeded the quality of those served in the two hospitals and rehab. facility that I spent time in. Julia, the Senior Lifestyle Counselor was, in the end, the overriding factor in my decision to move in, and guided me every step of the way, for which I will be eternally grateful.

Our experience with Discovery Commons at Cypress Point comes from having served as volunteers there since its opening. We have provided monthly accordion sing-along programs for both Assisted Living and Memory Care residents at this beautiful facility. While we work most closely with staff involved with activities, we regularly have contact with and observe personnel from administration, health and personal care, food services, and maintenance. In all our time there, we have found the employees to be professional, cooperative, supportive, personal, caring, and genuinely concerned and dedicated to serving and meeting the health and welfare needs of each resident in their care. We consider it a privilege and a blessing to be part of this fine team, and with them to touch and make a positive difference in the lives of so many special, wonderful people. Jim and Lynn

I enrolled my mom in Cypress Point (now called Discovery Commons at Cypress Point) in Fort Myers in 2018 when she was 91 years old, soon after the facility had opened. It's now 6 years later, mom is 97 years old, in great health (physically and mentally), and she loves her new home. Part of the reason she's in such good health is because this is a first class assisted living facility. It's clean, modern and comfortable. The staff is awesome.They are professional, personable and knowledgeable. The Executive Director and leadership team is top notch. The residents are their primary priority. Mom has made many friends both with residents and staff. I talk to her every day and she always has a new story of some interesting activity she was involved in, or a new friend she met. She is very social and this facility provides many opportunities for her to interact with others in a fun and meaningful way. I never thought mom would adapt to life in an assisted living facility because she was such an independent woman. But she has not only adapted, she has thrived. It's as if the last stage of her life is still full of a life worth living, with something to look forward to every day. What a blessing…!! I attribute this to my mom's positive outlook, and to being in a top notch assisted living facility with people who are caring and attentive.

There is ALWAYS a shortage of meals, what is on the menu, always running out…this facility has a count of ALL the patient's there is NO excuse. iFor price paid isn't justified. Very disappointed.

We moved my parents here almost a year ago now, and have NEVER regretted it! The staff is amazing, and truly does care for my parents. Soon after we moved them in, hurricane Ian hit. WHAT A BLESSING we had moved them here! They were TOP NOTCH at taking care of my parents even in the midst of the hurricane passing through, and afterwards. I think I'll move in with THEM for the next hurricane! Thank you Discovery Commons Cypress Point. I'm going to be moving in myself when the time comes!

I have a relative that has been at Discovery Commons since they opened. I have absolutely no complaints, only compliments! I couldn't ask for better care for my Mom. The staff is always very attentive and helpful. Thank you for a job very well done!

As a nurse practitioner I been honored to serve resident patients in over 50 senior communities. What stands out at Discovery Commons South Biscayne begins with Melissa Vanderbilt-Bestor and team. Melissa is out among the residents; not hiding in her office. The smiles on the faces of the residents evoked by Melissa's engagement is a sight to behold. Joy matters! Melissa gets it!
