I wanted to share a positive review on this facility. My dad is in Memory Care. I have witnessed firsthand the interactions from the staff to the residents. My dad's birthday was recent, and we brought in a huge cake to share. The staff worked the magic to have everyone sing Happy Birthday. To watch the residents, sing and enjoy a slice of cake was priceless and heartfelt. Despite living in central Ohio and he is in Chesapeake; I know that he is cared for. I can send a message requesting if he needs anything and I quickly get a message with his needs. Residents enjoyed various activities like sing-a-longs. It is impressive to see them all sing along and know the lyrics. This is a shout out to the entire team taking care of my Dad. Each of you are angels. Thank you!!!!

We spent a month looking for a place for our mother. After going to many facilities between her therapy and us looking for a place we were recommended by somebody to look here. It was the last place we looked and agreed it was a good choice. She has been living there for just over a year now. She has adjusted to her new living environment. We like that she has friends and loves the staff . So instead of being in her home alone and not able to get around. She has plenty of company and activities to do if she wants to. She did not want to leave her home at first. But, seems happy now. Which is our only goal and the facility’s. To make sure she’s not in danger and has a happy rest of her life. It gives us relief knowing she is in caring hands and we don’t have to worry anymore.

Harmony is amazing! My uncle has been there for over a year. He started in independent living and when he started having more severe issues as his dementia progressed, the staff noticed and suggested memory care. We were heartbroken and scared of what this transition would look like, but the director Jennifer and the other staff were so helpful. The transition went very smoothly. Uncle Keith is always so amazed that everyone knows his name. They treat him with kindness and respect. They have worked with us when we needed help. The facility itself is well maintained and a pleasure to come visit. When we are walking around the building, Keith always comments on how beautiful it is and what a nice place he lives in. Finding the right place for Keith was so hard. But we are reminded all the time that we chose the best place for him. We give Harmony 5 stars for many reasons, but the staff who show such love and care for my uncle would be my number 1 reason! They have an incredibly difficult job and knowing that my uncle is being cared for even when his dementia makes it difficult is priceless to me.

The staff is absolutely first class. If you need something you need only ask and they will bend over backwards to see you get it. We feel as if we have lived here for a long time. I was originally planning on using the Harmony just outside my neighborhood. It had been renovated, and of course was close by. When I was told they had no openings in memory care for my 100 year old mom, I was very disappointed. However, they pointed me in the direction of another Harmony, at Oakbrooke. Although it was about a 30 minute drive, each way, I found It to be a very nice facility. I became more enamored with the facility over time. Starting from the top, the Executive Director, Jennifer Stell, on down to the Med Techs and the care givers, they were all very professional and caring. It can be difficult for family members to have a loved one attend a facility such as this for the first time, but the staff made my mom feel right at home. I had comfort knowing she was being well taken care of. A big thanks to all the staff at Harmony at Oakbrooke who cared for my mom over the last 16 months.

My loved one has dementia. She lived at Harmony at Oakbrooke for 4 months. When I retired we decided to move to another state with another Harmony. Let me just say they are not all the same or run the same what. The is one at Oakebrooke is wonderful. My mom was very confused when she got there. They found her a friend who helped her to find activities and places to sit and look outside. This friend helped my mom to feel comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Ms. Vivian, Ms.Jennifer, Ms. Rachel, all the staff on the second floor are the nicest sweetest helpful group of people. You can not go wrong with this facility. It’s bright cheerful and clean. Very welcoming in every aspect. I’m so sorry we moved my mom out to another Harmony. Not all staff is as warm and welcoming as the staff at Harmony at Oakbrooke! We miss them dearly. They became family in such a short time.

We appreciate the great responsiveness of staff and have had great experiences since the beginning of my mother moving in to the assisted living community. The place is lovely and has nice activities and rooms to enjoy some fun. There is a built-in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy provider which enhances the services and ability for mom to increase her independence. All requests we have ever made to the Nursing Director, Executive Director, Fiscal Director, and Entertainment Director have always been pleasant and helpful. We are grateful to all.

The team within Harmony Oakboroke saved a life in our family, I am certain of this. My wife and I talked to 15 facilities, toured and interviewed 10, searched the VA State Licensing website for violations/inspections to decide on Harmony Oakbrooke. My father and mother were living alone and just holding on to a way of life with the two of them not quite equaling one person and then crisis hit. Due to fading short term memory of one parent with a recent cancer diagnosis and a quickly deteriorating dementia condition with the other parent a move had to be made. We went through a lot that I would hope no one else would ever have to experience. The Harmony team was driven by their personal experiences, love of people, and professional experiences to keep me from falling into a dark place at a time of need. Now each parent is in a place of safety, comfort, wellness, and able to spend time together. I am indebted to this team of people for who they are personally and professional, as well as for the product that they offer at Harmony Oakbrooke.

From reading past comments, I was concerned about moving my mom here. When I found out that they had undergone new management in the last few months, what I was seeing on my visits made more sense. I have been extremely pleased with everything about Harmony at Oakbrooke and the care they have provided for my mom! She has only been a resident for about a week on the assisted living side but we can finally breath a sigh of relief knowing she is in good hands. It has been an adjustment period for my mom and us but the entire staff has been nothing short of amazing. It started with Tara working so hard to make accommodations for my mom, to Jennifer being very approachable and involved as the director, to Rachel (director of nursing) working so well with us to understand and ensure my moms needs are met, to Ashley who has become my moms favorite care taker, and to Carl to who has obviously worked hard to ensure the maintenance needs of the building our met. You can tell by walking across the parking lot and through the front door that this staff cares about the facility and it’s residents. I can’t say enough about how relieved we are to give my mom a better way of living while getting the around the clock care she needs. For my mom to say that everyone has been wonderful, I know for sure things are going well when we are not there because she would not hold back! Thank you to the staff for a wonderful welcome to our next journey!

I must give my updates. The new Director brought in more staff for the weekly cleanings. The Chef stepped up and improved the presentation and the taste of all the food! However, they have gone against their written visitation policies. I was told that there are no time limitations for my visitors before I moved in. However, the new Director told me that visitation is from 7am to 9pm. This rule still makes me have to move. Someone must be able to access me; at all times! It costs thousands of dollars for me to relocate too.

Have the pleasure of being a part of this community for the past 5 years. The resident population is incredibly close-knit and actively supports each other. Management of this facility is strong and works to improve the quality of living through a variety of services including therapy, activities, nursing and dining. There has been a transition as of late but we will continue to serve this community as a family. BTW, there is no better therapy department! Residents have amazing things to say, just ask!

Understaffed and overpriced. My dad is in the memory unit and his personal hygiene is often ignored, needs a shower, teeth brushed, shave, haircut, clean clothes etc His clothes disappear and his room often is not clean much less checked. When you report problems you get excuses and nothing changes. Management is not empathetic.

The home was having a staffing shortage when my husband and I were there. I was suppose to have assistance transferring my husband from bed to wheelchair, assistance giving him a shower twice a week, assistance getting him to the toilet etc. None of this occurred. Call lights took 40 minutes to answer. The staff they did have was EXCELLENT but they just didn’t have enough. My husband was transferred to the Memory Care Unit and I gave a 30 day notice and now I am having trouble getting reimbursed for money I think is owed me, as my husband soon after died soon after being transferred. We should be due a refund for his stay. I don’t want to get a lawyer involved but it will be two months soon since my husband passed away and the executor of his estate is trying to get everything settled. It doesn’t seem like this should be a problem.

Harmony at Oakbrooke By Sherrie S. I am writing this review in hopes that it might help someone else who is looking for the best care for their loved one. I found myself in a bit of a "last minute" frenzy this past December trying to find not just a good place, but a good fit for my step-father who needed placement in a memory care facility. I live in Texas, and due to the rapid onset of his dementia, and in addition to all the uncertainty we have all faced dealing with the COVID situation, I can honestly say that finding Harmony at Oakbrooke was a God send to my family. From the very beginning, I had the pleasure of working with Jeromy Basham, Director of Sales & Marketing. He knew all the details regarding my personal situation, and he could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Harmony is truly top notch. Not only is it a beautiful place, but everyone seems to genuinely care about the residents. The room that I selected for my loved one was just what he needed. Since my family and I were coming in from out of town to get everything set up, Jeromy and the staff at Harmony went above and beyond to help us get everything done not only to our satisfaction, but also within our very limited time frame. My step-father has been at Harmony for a few months now, and I am beyond grateful to know that he is not only in a safe place, but that he is being treated well and with the respect and dignity that our aging loved ones so deserve. In addition to Jeromy and all of the Harmony staff, I have to specifically mention Melise Brown. She works in Memory Care, and she is such a blessing. She is always so pleasant and willing to answer any questions that I have had along the way. Depending on your budget, it might cost a bit more, but it is so worth it. My family and I are so thankful to have found Harmony and to be a part of the "family".

I would like to applaud the leadership of Harmony at Oakbrooke and the entire team members under that leadership! After the death of my dad and brother over a year ago , my mother was in a physical and emotional collapse. After a few months of trying to maintain and give the appropriate care needed for mom, we all knew ( including mom) that a better alternative was needed. After the initial meeting with the representatives of the facility, we all knew this was the appropriate place for her.....and this has been proven beyond our expectations! Since being there, the entire staff has provided 24 hour care in all levels by the fantastic medical team and others associated for the care of mom. The professionalism and sincere love shown for her has initiated a reciprocal feeling of love and care as a new family! I would recommend this facility for anyone in need of independent, assisted, or memory care. Again, the entire team and it’s leadership will surpass your expectations and give you a feeling of security for your loved one in need!

The building itself is beautiful inside and out. Some of the staff are absolutely awful. For example, today I took my twin babies up to see granny and was told we could not visit because they don’t allow 3 people-1 adult, 2 babies was too many. I wasn’t happy about this after the long preparation it took to get us over there, but we said our hellos/goodbyes just inside the door. Another employee proceeds to come out about 10 seconds in and tell us to move out out of the way and stop blocking the door... get outside as she put it and shooed us out. We quickly finished our conversation in the rain and she walked back in talking under breathe. It’s one thing to be rude to me, but my granny pays WAY too much to live at this facility to have to deal with people talking to her like this. How do they treat the residents when we aren’t around? I wish I had caught her name, but she should not be working there. Don’t let the pretty exterior fool you. Very disappointed.

Staff has made it very difficult to visit a friend in the Harmony unit. They have restricted hours and force family and friends to arrive only before or after meals and basically be locked in during meal hours sometimes last nearly two hours. Very inflexible. Worth noting staff has amended above policy and now will have receptionist take families back to visit during meals. Harmony staff is attentive and helpful. Hopefully this change will work.
