During my search of many independent living communities in the Myrtle Beach area, Portside at Grand Dunes got my attention immediately. Now as a resident of 3 weeks, I am confident that Portside is my new home. I feel welcomed every time I walk in the front door, at the meals, and activities. The residents and staff are caring and respectful of each other. One thing I have noticed is that everyone speaks to each other with a smile on there face. I love it at Portside!

From my first tour right through my decision to move to Portside, my experience has been wonderful. Every time I met with Susan I had my list of questions and she answered every one with candor, enthusiasm, understanding and clarity. If she didn’t have the answer she would find it. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. Most staff remembered my name after only hearing it one time. This is remarkable with a name like mine! So I’m eager for my next adventure to begin.

Can’t begin to say how thankful I am that a community like Portside at Grande Dunes exists. My dad had a fall that resulted in a brain bleed and a fractured femur. After weeks of rehabilitation at Grand Strand he was going to be released to go home in a wheelchair for 6 weeks of nonweight baring limitations. However, the house my parents live in is not set up for a wheelchair. We were able to secure a place for him at Portside for respite care. It was a God send for our family. The staff was so accommodating and helpful in managing his care while he was there. It was bittersweet when he left to come home. Grateful he was able to come home but leaving the security of knowing someone was looking out for him 24/7 was rough. Those of you dealing with aging parents know the difficulties of caring for parents who are determined to maintain their independence in their house while you are doing all you can to protect them. It’s a constant struggle. Thanks to the staff and all those who came in contact with my dad while he was there. You were lifesavers!

Portside at Grande Dunes is a full service facility for Seniors, allowing easy transitions between Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. The staff is so caring and helps to make the residents feel comfortable and cared for. My parents started in Independent then moved to Assisted, and then my Mom was in Memory Care for 10 months. The first floor care givers and med techs in Assisted Living were wonderful to my parents, caring and making them feel at home. I can't say enough about the staff in Memory Care, so compassionate, thoughtful and helpful. It's not an easy job, and the staff there take pride in what they do. There are too many to name, but I thank each and every one for their kindness and compassion for my Mom and my family. My wife and I recently toured Portside at Grand Dunes. What an amazing tour was provided by Lauren Wolf. She provided a wealth of information about Independent Living at Portside. I reached out to many facilities for my grandma and have had little to no luck. That was until I found Portside! I have to say Lauren Wolfe reached out immediately with information. My mom found her new home at Portside and she couldn't have been happier. The building and grounds are beautiful, new, clean, and well maintained. Her apartment has everything you would need including a kitchen island, balcony, walk in closet. The food is excellent, staff is wonderful and there are plenty of fun activities to keep her busy. Most importantly, the other residents are all so friendly and welcoming and everyone helps each other out. Knowing my mom is in a place like this gives me peace of mind.

Some things are very good, some not so good. They are willing to impose very large rent increases, way higher than inflation rate, on seniors with little notice. They know seniors have a more difficult time moving and also that they are on fixed incomes. It strikes me as greedy and lacking in compassion or empathy. They could cut some waste here, definitely, to keep costs down. On the other hand, the activity offerings are good and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. Many of residents seem ready for assisted living or memory care, not truly independent, but not all. Location is perfect and facillity very attractive. So it's a mixed bag.

I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care and support provided by the staff at Portside during my mom's brief stay. Special thanks to Lauren in Sales for ensuring a seamless transition to her new home. The commitment shown by the nurses, tech guys, concierge, and Director Dorothy in making my mom comfortable and happy was truly remarkable. Even in challenging moments with mom, their kindness and compassion shone through. During her last days, the combined efforts of Crescent hospice and the Portside nurses, especially Suzanne, provided our family with immense comfort. From the very first time I visited Portside, I have been so impressed with the people that work there, they are so kind and caring. I was also struck with all the activity going on when I visited. There was always something happening! The last thing I will say was that the aesthetics of the whole place was phenomenal! My mom is so happy there and she has made so many friends. In my estimation, it’s the best place in Myrtle Beach. Very reasonable prices as well. We couldn’t be happier!!!

My parents are in a two bedroom at Portside and our really enjoying their apartment there. They are fairly new in 2024 and have gotten to know the staff, and many new residence. It is wonderful to know they’re close by and there’s a great staff and medical services at Portside. Wonderful location with so many nearby restaurants, stores, and wonderful things to do nearby in Myrtle Beach.

My Mother has been a resident at Portside for two years, and her rent has increased a WHOPPING 25% over that period, in spite of the fact that service levels have actually gone down. For much of her two years, the Executive Director role has been vacant, as have several Food Service roles. Happy hour used to include two drinks per resident, and that's been reduced to one drink. Transportation is not as readily available as it was two years ago. The facility looks nice, but don't be fooled. Service levels are sporadic, food is average at best, and quite frankly, management seems to be far more concerned with profit than with maintaining consistent levels of service. Other residents are very nice and welcoming, but as a company, Grace is much better at Marketing then they are at providing a high level of service to their independent living residents.

I moved my dad here to Myrtle beach for him to be close by. I toured several facilities and it was a clear decision to choose Portside. From the day he arrived, he has felt comfortable and at home. The staff here is incredible from the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance to management. They assist in every way possible and they do it with a smile. Genuinely..They work together as a team and really have the residents best interests at heart. I can attest to this as I see it on a daily basis. After my Dad passed, it became more apparent that my mom could no longer live alone. My husband and I visited about eight assisted living facilities in the Myrtle Beach area. Portside at Grande Dunes was simply outstanding. Lauren Wolf spent several hours with us, answering questions and offering a tour. The assisted living apartments were spacious and well appointed. The dining room and event rooms reminded us of a first class hotel, nicely decorated, clean and inviting. Abi Webb helped us coordinate moving trucks and multiple deliveries as we readied my Mom's room. She even brought the paperwork to my home to be signed. Portside's facilities are beautiful but their best assets are their employees. Everyone, down to a person, is caring and compassionate. They helped my Mom adjust, wheeled her to meals on the days she wasn't feeling too energetic. They pop in for a chat, fix her TV, deliver her mail and get her to the hair salon on time. I'm so grateful to Portside for allowing my Mom to maintain her dignity and independence. I know we made a great choice.

Lauren at Portside is an absolute pro and extremely kind and helpful. I went looking for memory care for my mother. She allowed all the time I needed to ask plenty of questions. Never felt rushed or like I was annoying her. She even squeezed me in for a tour when she had a full day already. Communication was as if I were the only person she had dealings with. The facility is quite impressive and all staff members I encountered were very friendly. Definitely worth your time to go see it.

We’ve been touring and interviewing several senior living facilities for our mother and we’re happy to say, we chose Portside at Grand Dunes. Making a decision to trust a facility for your parents care comes with great discernment, a ton of questions and a lot of expectations. Lauren Wolf, our sales coordinator and Abi our move-in coordinator have been extremely gifted with patience, kindness, empathy and a sense of humor which put our family at ease. Lauren introduced us to many residents and staff members who were equally as endearing to our questions and more importantly happy to make mom’s transition easier. Both Lauren & Abi have been extremely helpful with the application process. Portside has thought of every amenity to ensure life will be safe, convenient and happy for our mom. We’re thinking mom will be too busy for us now!

Helped my father move in a few weeks ago. Some residents immediately started introducing him around and the staff have all been great. They helped out so much to accommodate us at a very stressful time. Lauren went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly for the move-in. The only hiccup was with some confusion over getting his meds sorted out but that finally got resolved. I definitely recommend this facility to anyone in the Myrtle Beach area looking for an assisted living community.

Portside is a beautiful facility with awesome amenities. I toured the facility with my daughter (a nurse practitioner) and we were both blown away! The staff was very nice and the residents all looked so happy. While we were on the tour, a gentleman stopped us saying that he had been living at a different facility and recently moved to Portside and absolutely loves it. Overall, the place is comparable to a 5-star hotel with extremely nice staff and the residents all look happy to be there. We definitely rate Portside as one of the best in the Myrtle Beach area!

This place is AMAZING!!! Had a tour with the Business Office Manager and she was great too. All of the staff that we met were super nice and made us feel very welcome. The facility overall made my husband and I feel like we were at an all inclusive resort somewhere. I would not hesitate having any of my family live here and would be excited myself to live in one of the cottages now.

I recently moved my father into Portside. This was a very hard decision to make. I met with Cat Richardson who took us on a tour of the facility & grounds. She introduced us to many of the staff at Portside. Cat instantly put me at ease. Her pleasing, calm demeanor did much to assure me Portside was the right choice for my father. Her knowledge and empathy was just what I needed. My father has received excellent care from all the staff. Everyone has been patient, courteous, caring and most of all respectful. I would highly recommend Portside and Cat Richardson as your onsite liaison. Portside, you are lucky to have Cat Richardson on staff.

When we began our search for my Moms future home, I had no idea things would work out as perfectly as they did! After our first appointment with Lauren Wolf it became evident that Portside would be were we would start and end our search. Lauren is an asset to this community. Her kind heart and caring personality shine thru. She made what could have been a daunting experience a wonderful one. We could not have been happier with the treatment we received. She even went above and beyond to give my mother a personal and very kind welcoming gift when she stayed in the guest apartment. Any questions we had were answered promptly and we felt like family. I know we made the right choice. Portside is a lovely place that cares about their residents and Lauren is a big part of what made this transition easier for my entire family- She is now a friend!

Beautiful facility, but more techs & caretakers are needed at least 1 to a floor in med rm or at med cart - each tech is responsive & helpful once you ask them for something. Food is not good, most residents complain. It’s disappointing & frustrating that the Nurse does not return calls.

They say that beauty is only skin deep. I am a recent resident who has transitioned here from a nearby condo after living at an equally beautiful setting for 2 years and 3 months. Prior to that time, I was a long distance landlord since 2014 originally from Connecticut. With my professional background in long term care and human services, I thought that perhaps I could make a significant contribution being an advocate for many causes, After much research, interviewing, weighing pros and cons, I decided upon Portside , Independent Living to secure my future. It seemed to fit my needs best not only from the standpoint of having and compensating for life long spastic cerebral palsy and having little if any help as an adult ...and just the pure isolation caused by the pandemic which drove this 'people person' to strive for more. Another factor guiding me was the fact that I wanted to continue to build a legacy for my Mom who tragically died of COVID in Connecticut on Thanksgiving Day, 2020 in which I was never able to say goodbye or return. To this day, the memorial is still pending. I truly feel as it I bonded with the Marketing Director, Cat Richardson. Her people skills , her engaging manner and willingness to assist me and embrace my ideas for the future was a refreshing change! In fact all of the Administration and staff have been receptive. My goal is always to help others, as I am a giver and I truly appreciate the value of the older generations.. I desire to be 'an innovator as I always have, not necessarily a bingo player.' Now I am just entering that door at the younger end of the spectrum. The Administration's willingness to embrace my enthusiasm and ideas means so much! Definitely, there is an adjustment period and as with any business there are struggles. However, the important thing is to make of your mind to make your quality of life better and to 'ride out the rough waves' when they occur- The grass is always greener ' not the case. There are many amenities and the apartments are appointed beautifully! If you need something different, just ask and they will try to accommodate. You not only are making a financial, but personal and emotional investment and you deserve to be the best you can be! I hope to shine here for a long time. P.S. I visited Portside twice- the first time was something like a scouting mission while we began our search for my sisters’ relocation to Myrtle Beach from the Northeast. I met with and toured the facility with Cat Richardson, who was gracious and helpful regarding all of my questions. Subsequently, my sister, along with my husband and myself, had another meeting with Ms. Richardson in October. Cat was patient and very informative regarding all aspects of Portside. I truly cannot thank her enough for her attention and continued input regarding a major event/move for my sister. I would be remiss if I did not add that- from a customer service standpoint- Portside has a gem in Ms. Richardson! Having had our own business, both my husband and I appreciate the value an employee with such enthusiasm, kindness and scope of knowledge concerning all aspects of the product!! Her follow up has been amazing and always to inform- we have never once felt pressured or uncomfortable. Kudos to the manager who saw/interviewed Ms. Richardson and hired her! The best ambassador for a perfectly lovely new home! We look forward to joining the community!

As a resident I have been here since October 2019 there has never been a time that i have found the staff to be rude or indifferent to any of the resident , they are helpful, caring and protective. Each resident is treated with dignity and as a personal family memeber.. it has been a decision that was difficult to make but in that i have no regrets.

Portside is an amazing Senior Living Community! My mother first moved in to recover from a broken hip. As a family we were so thrilled on the care and kindness of the staff that she decided to move in permanently. Her condo is spacious and modern. The staff have been so helpful, even when my mom is having a bad day. The activities are abundant and there is NEVER a dull moment at Portside. We are so proud to be apart of the Portside family!

This was our second tour with my parents. Cat was extremely accommodating and they were able to walk into an empty Gaston model, which was extremely helpful to my parents. Cat has graciously and quickly replied to my numerous emails and texts for additional information. Portside is lucky to have Cat on their team.

My Mother in Law & now my father are residents at Portside. The administration to every level of employment on their staff is unsurpassed in an effort to make not only the residents comfortable but to each of the families or loved ones the residents. Professionalism at its highest. Strongly recommend Portside at Grande Dunes for the best care for your loved ones!

Portside is a new addition to Grand Dunes. I visit someone who lives in the assisted living building and it is absolutely beautiful! The "apartments" are quaint and very private compared to large hospital rooms. Each has a separate livingroom, bedroom and bath with walk in shower. There is a refrigerator but no stove though you can bring a microwave oven if you choose to. You'll have to supply your own furniture, dishes, television, et., if you want those things. The community dining room is gorgeous! Visitors can also dine for $15. which I think is a bit steep but from what I understand, the food is very good and the portions are quite filling. My resident says, "They're always feeding us. Everytime I turn around it's time to go and eat." There is a calendar of activities. There are buses for appointments and shopping trips and plenty to do in the building if you're looking to stay busy. Construction is well underway for independent living. Portside is a wonderful facility. It's on the high side price wise but if you need it and can afford it, why not go for it? The least you should do is go on a tour.

One thing I can say about this place is you can feel the love and care in every resident and staff member. The kitchen staff do such a good job and bend over backwards for people so they can get the best service and the staff who’s there for people are so wonderful and nice and they truly Care what they do and they help one another this is a place where Love is the definition of facility
