I look at the reviews posted on this site and I can not believe giving this place 5 stars! I don’t think many of these reviews were written by residents. When you walk through the facility it does look nice and the apartments are large, but there are many problems with Silvercrest. We lived there for over two years and did not have a good experience at all. Too start with the management is very poor. The director never left the office or was gone a lot. I understand she has now left and no longer works there. The assistant director has a real attitude problem. It is almost like she hates her job. Once when I talked to her about a problem she told me if I did not like it I could leave. Another example: the windows in the main lounge are always dirty and they do not get cleaned very often. The assistant director said why wash them ,they will just get dirty again. The maid service is bad. We had a gal who could not speak English and she did not do much. She just went through the motions. We had a two-bedroom apt at the north end on the third floor east side, and it had a very bad dust problem. We even had dust in the cabinets. If you picked up a glass or plate you would see a dust ring where the glass or plate had been. I have never seen anything like that before. My wife and I both developed coughing problems. We complained about the dust numerous times but nothing was ever done about it. We were not the only ones with this problem. These apartments should have been declared health problems and not have been rented! We were never told about any dust problem when we signed the contract but they had to know. Another major problem with the apartments was the noise. Our apt was next to the trash bins and food delivery area. We would be woken up early in the morning by the trash truck dumping dumping trash. This had to effect many apartments. Also food delivery trucks would pull in below our apartment to unload and they would leave their trucks running causing noise and sometimes we would get diesel fumes in the apt. At night maintenance vehicles would be below our apt and the would have hoses running into building with pumps running to as late as 9:00 at night. This place is one of the more pricey senior living places but it was terrible. People on the south end of the building complained about traffic noise at night. They would hear cars racing down College late into the night. Now let’s get to the dining experience. In a nutshell it was bad. The food was below average. They would give the dishes names and you would scratch you head wondering what it was. I guess they thought that if you gave the dishes strange names it would make it better. The food kept going down hill the longer we were there. The service was even worse. They had trouble keeping servers and cooks. The servers were high school kids who were poorly trained. Sometimes we could wait over an hour to be served. The whole food service experience was a disaster. The main reason we went to senior living was for the meal service and Silvercrest was terrible!! The place that we are at now does have server problems but the food is good. At Silvercrest many times we could not eat the food. Sometimes the food service was so bad it was laughable. I asked management to come down and eat with us to see the problems but they never did one time. The people that live there are great but the vibe is not good. Many residents are disappointed with the food and the yearly rate increase in rent of about 7 to 8% per year. This place is way average priced. After living there they would have to pay me to live there. When we were considering the place we did not like the view out the windows. [name removed] said she would cut the price by $650 but she never told us about all the noise and dust which she should have known about. The location of this place is bad. There are businesses all around it causing a lot of noise and traffic. Walk away from this place. It is terrible and not near worth what they charge. Management is bad and food is terrible!

Silvercrest At Collegeview is the most amazing experience for seniors! The staff here at Silvercrest has asked Thoughtful Care to to have a presence in their building, to provide resident services and care. Our experience here has been outstanding. I would recommend Silvercrest to families that are looking for great senior living.

I am honestly surprised that Silvercrest at College View gets such good reviews, except I see some of their staff posting 5-star reviews to boost their ratings, I believe it to be very average. Karen(sales) and Bill(van driver) Chadwick are good people and the front desk person, Sharron, is top notch, but the rest of the staff are phonies and liars. The independent is average, as is the assisted, but avoid the memory care unit at all costs. If your elderly person has any behaviors, be ready for your 30-day vacate notice. Your money will go a lot farther at other places, keep looking.

My mother has been at Silvercrest for the past four years in their memory care unit. she just passed away at the age of 95. Everyone on the staff at this facility care so much about their residents. They took absolutely wonderful care of her, and I couldn't have asked for more. Very solid organization with Christian values and extremely low turnover in their staff throughout the organization. I highly recommend them.

Our mom became part of the Silvercrest community this year. We had toured their beautiful facilities and been on the waitlist for quite some time waiting for the perfect apartment. I cannot recommend them enough. The staff gets 5 stars for caring about the residents. There is always something fun to do that varies daily to make every day special and fun. If you are looking for a new place to call home, this amazing facility is worth your time to visit!!

Silvercrest College in Lenexa is a great choice for my parents. It's close to their residence of 40 years thus staying close to their community of friends and church. They started in Independent Living and moved to Assisted Living when my dad required end of life care. The facilities include a fitness center, theater, chapel, hair salon, on-site physical therapy, and daily events. I've built great relationships with staff during my visits. They are so supportive and friendly. Special thanks to Karen for her infectious enthusiasm and assistance the past few years. I have comfort that my mom is well cared for at Silvercrest at College Blvd.

We took the time to visit at several different times of day and always found it so pleasant. The staff and the residence were all so friendly! I visited 2 times on my own, researching independent and assisted living options for my 88-year-old father. MaryAnn Funke gave me a very thorough tour of independent and assisted living apartments and provided great info. On my second visit, I stopped in unexpectedly, but Senior Living Advisor Karen Chadwick took time to speak with me for over 45 minutes, sharing lots of invaluable info. Her expertise is impressive, and her enthusiasm is infectious! The facility is beautiful, with modern, wood decor that is welcoming and warm. The "vibe" is professional, yet very friendly and inviting. My Dad joined me for the third visit, and he decided to put his name on the waitlist for independent living. This facility is a real hidden gem. Hope an apartment becomes available soon!

We were very impressed with this facility, its staff and operations. We had deposits down for both our grandmother and my father at times over the last couple of years. My mother lived at Silvercrest at College View for over 3 years. It was the best place for her - and for us, her family! Every staff member knew my moms name - and our names right from the start. We all felt welcome and cared for. The care that my mom received from Assisted Living to Memory Care was outstanding. You need to improve your food. I hear a lot of complaints from residents about it. I bring in a lot of much better simple foods for my mother. It is not hard to do with spices, need to work with more sugar free foods.

My husband and I spent two months researching, interviewing, and touring multiple Communities that would be the right fit for my parents. It was an exhausting and confusing process. At one point, I felt hopeless after months of not finding a Community that fit our needs. Then we found SilverCrest, my parents new home! My parents spent the last five years at SilverCrest until end of life. We made many happy memories that will forever be with us. SilverCrest offered a safe, clean, and loving environment. This is a long past due review. I cannot thank the staff of Silvercrest at College View for the care they gave my mother from Feb 2018 to Apr 2020. Every person on the staff brought a skill that took a senior care facility to a home, and a place of safety for my mom. Staff members, from the front desk, administration, dining room, activities, nursing, maintenance, care givers, etc made it a point to get to know the residents and developed care plans, personal interactions with them that made them feel at home, safe and welcome. I cannot thank them enough!

My parents moved into Silvercrest at College View after an extenisve search of retirement communities in the Kansas City area and they are delighted to have found a beautiful home to live out their days! Nancy Correll was my moms initial contact and she has been there every step of the way since as my parents were founding residents in a brand new building in June 2017! As the community has grown, ideas pop up, needs change, residents move in et. Nancy and her team keep Silvercrest running and never miss a beat in responding to all needs. They are kind, friendly, affectionate and easy going to everyone. My large family is always surprised and impressed that everyone knows who we are and that all the staff knows the name of each resident. They stop to chat, check in, say hello as they pass by. Silvercrest runs all sorts of classes, bridge games, book clubs, exercise, crafts, social gatherings, movies, outings, dinners, wine club, etc. My parents are thriving and happy. We are forever grateful to Nancy who was our first contact back in early 2017 and continues to answer the phone and respond today.

The staff are so kind and understanding. I love the homey environment and especially the outdoor area. Its very clean too. My favorite is the food! Always delicious with lots of choices. The chef comes out from the kitchen and asks us if everything tastes ok. He really cares about what we need and what we like.

My parents moved in Dec 2018. They are 88 and 86. They moved ftom a small yown and were apprehensive. It has been awesome. They are involved, participate in activities and are thriving. The Thursday activities are their favorite as music entainment is brought in. The music is from their era.

My mom has been in their Memory Care going on 2 years now. Shanea and her staff are the most compassionate and qualified workers I have encountered. They take care of the patients as well as making sure families are updated. Today they had my mom FaceTime with me. Awesome. Every worker, from Shanea to housekeeping are the best. I appreciate them more than words can express.

I cannot say enough positive things about Silvercrest. We had to move my Mom quickly from her home into a facility. They worked with us and helped us make the best decision about her care. She is now doing great with all of the mental stimulation and activities. The staff is caring and helpful and all know who she is. The residents are friendly and welcoming and helped ease her transition. I would highly recommend Silvercrest to anyone with elderly parents.
