The minute you step foot at Balfour Ann Arbor is like walking in at The Ritz. The executive director, sales team and staff are incredibly conscientious, extremely capable, and most importantly caring. The apartments are well designed with upscale amenities and food is incredible! Take a tour and see for yourself!

My parents lived in Balfour for two years, until their passing within a week of each other. We are so grateful to the Balfour community for providing a safe, warm and enriching home that also increased their ability to form new life-enhancing friendships. We also want to call out our gratitude to the general manager, John Juroe. Understanding that the death of a parent or parents is overwhelming, he and the whole staff at Balfour went above and beyond to make this transition as logistically pain-free as possible. My parents live at Balfour and it has been a wonderful experience! The staff is great and the food is delicious. We highly recommend Balfour to others. One idea my dad had is to have a directory of residents with their names and pictures to help people get to know one another.

After touring Balfour, the decision to select my mother's assisted living facility was not the difficult one I had expected it be. Stunningly decorated, with interesting artwork everywhere you look, relaxing, colorful lounges, a sophisticated bar, libraries full of current books (books that one would actually want to read), a beautiful indoor pool for residents and their family members, a well-equipped exercise facility, an elegant dining room, outdoor patios... the list goes on. The chef strives to make food that is interesting, and it is consistently excellent. My mother's apartment has high ceilings with tall windows, and a pretty kitchen with upscale quartz countertops. This is senior living at its most uplifting. There is a vibrancy to Balfour that you don't normally see in most facilities. But a facility's remarkably upscale decor wouldn't mean much without good people staffing it... My mother receives such personable care and attention from nurses, aides, the wonderful PT and OT people, kitchen staff, even the nice cleaning lady at Balfour who keeps her room tidy. The in-house dietician stops by my mother's apartment regularly to make sure she's getting food that she enjoys. Balfour goes out of their way to attract and retain the best caregivers, and it shows. Mae, the head of nursing, always greets me with a hug when I see her. John Juroe, the highly personable sales rep at Balfour, acknowledged each resident by name during my tour, and has quickly responded to questions or solved issues with a prompt text or phone call. It gives me such peace knowing that my mother is treated with respect and kindness at Balfour. I can't say enough about how much my mother and I appreciate the staff at Balfour, or recommend this place highly enough.

My mother has lived there since it opened. She is so happy there. The food is truly exceptional and staff does their very best to meet the many demands of residents. The units and common areas are beautiful and the team does an excellent job with maintenance and cleanliness. Highly recommend!

My mother has been at the Ann Arbor Balfour since it opened. She and our family are very impressed with, and satisfied by, the facility, design and service. Special mention needs to be made about Chef Adam--the food is amazing! Truly gourmet. Also, as a University of Michigan family, we love that the design honors and captures the spirit of the Wolverines!

My folks moved to Balfour right when it opened. They loved the overall design, the food, and the wonderful staff. They soon needed more assistance, and Balfours staff has been incredible every step of the way. The staff treats residents with care, dignity, and good humor. When difficult health issues arise, they support the residents and their families to an extraordinary degree. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of touring Balfour Ann Arbor and experiencing their fine dining as well. It was like no other senior living establishment Ive visited. Far and above all expectations and the staff were all very friendly, courteous and helpful (able to answer all of my questions).

I have lived at Balfour for 1 year: Balfour has: Excellent Fine Dining Outstanding Interior Decor Nice Pool Good Fitness Center BUT + The reviews on Balfour are higher than they should be because the reviews include: Two employees Three Former Employees Two outside vendors ( Google considers it a conflict of interest for employees to rate employers.) + Employee turnover is high. Look at employee remarks on indeed.com. + They have been open a year and still Have problems with doors functioning properly. + Residents in assisted living sometimes have to wait 10 to 60 minutes for assistance after pushing a call button. I believe this Is due to short staffing. + When I make suggestions for improvement I get no acknowledgement or reaction. I have been waking 5 months. + We have been without an Executive Director for a year.

I had a family member moved about 10 months ago from another assisted living facility across town. Balfour is not only more aesthetically pleasing with better amenities (including the pool, meal options, concierge services) but their communication before and during COVID has been impressive. The leadership has been available by phone, email and has regular townhall meetings by Zoom to address any concerns. They send regular emails and have an app that gives updates on what activities my family member has attended each day, including pictures. The wellness coordinator has kept me updated on my family members clinical condition. Their pricing is reasonable and transparent where other facilities have confusing tiers and seemingly duplicate charges that they cant quite explain. There are several negative reviews here, mostly from former staff, and I do not share these concerns. I was very disappointed with the facility across town that had multiple care issues that I raised with their management. I cant say that I havent seen any problems at Balfour but they have been addressed. I think any new entity (especially in the midst of a pandemic) is going to have growing pains with staffing and procedures. I would highly recommend Balfour to anyone in the Ann Arbor area and hopefully they continue to grow.

Former Employee By far the BEST job Ive ever had from management to the residents I LOVED it !! I departed ways because my husband got a job offer in another state otherwise I would still be at Balfour Ann Arbor.!! My last day was very emotional I walked out to my car crying because Ill miss this place so much .! I highly recommend this beautiful place as a place to live. Also if youre looking to work here.

Virtually toured Balfour Ann Arbor a couple of weeks ago with my family as we are in the gathering phase of looking for a senior living community for my father. The staff was friendly and introduced themselves to us as we were toured through the community. The sales associate had answers to all of our questions, including those pertaining to COVID. They have been COVID free which makes us very happy. The inside looks stunning and we are looking forward to being able to see it in person. We are not yet ready, but when we are, we will be moving him to Balfour!!

Balfour Ann Arbor truly stands out as a premier luxury senior living community in Ann Arbor, MI. Not only is the building itself gorgeous (inside and out), the staff is what makes this a place a community where I would enjoy having family live at. From the moment you walk in the front doors (pre COVID-19...no visitors allowed inside right now; which is completely understandable) you are greeted with warm smiles and friendly conversation.

The staff, everyone from the receptionists to the kitchen staff, will all drop what theyre doing to say hello to a resident and ask them how their day is. You can feel the warmth radiate from every warm smile there! And the food?? Out of this world! NO ONE ELSE HAS FOOD LIKE THIS!! A true culinary experience! The residents rooms are spacious, modern, comfortable, and welcoming. The location is super convenient too, right off of Main and State, just a few minutes from the Big House. Im excited every time I enter the front doors. So great!!!

In our old home, the everyday details had become stressful. After being at Balfour for just a few weeks, we feel much more relaxed. I can rest easy at night now knowing that we are wonderfully taken care of by the staff and our home is cozy. We are exactly where we should be – we are truly at home. The first time I walked into the completed complex, it blew my mind. Wide open space with natural light and bright colors, the presentation was unbelievable. I am very impressed by Balfour Ann Arbor! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, very passionate about what they do. The interior designs are incredible, such intricate detail and vibrant colors. The culinary team is exceptional, if you get a chance try the Wolverine burger. Its the best in town!

I am in the moving and storage business and have dealt with over 75 Senior Living developments. Balfour far exceeds the expectations of Senior Living. Being involved in the inter workings of the organization has allowed me to meet the staff as well as its contractors and they are first rate. I would not hesitate to put my loved ones in Balfour they deserve the quality and care and comfort that they provide. Take a tour you will not be disappointed.

I went on a tour here not too long ago and it is stunning. They really put their attention into the details which makes a huge difference. The common areas are beautifully decorated, the restaurants are themed, there are libraries with donated books for the residents, and even the walls of the hallways are adorned with art and local history. Plus, did I mention it has a pool and workout facility? The best part is the friendly staff. My tour guide, Rhonda, was so kind and informative. She was able to answer any question I threw at her and everyone I met was so warm and welcoming. I highly recommend touring Balfour because once you see it, youll love it.
