December 3, 2025 LOCK UP YOUR VALUABLES at Fairwinds, Rio Rancho. Locking your unit doesn't prevent theft. My mom lost a sweater jacket, silver bracelet, two wine glasses, a door decoration and $200 in cash taken from her wallet in her file cabinet, before we put a lock on he cabinet During move out, when the unit was unattended, but locked, multiple bottles of liquor were stolen from a box packed and ready to be moved. Management suggested that if someone wants access to your unit the front desk will accommodate without your permission or knowledge. The best protection is to install a security camera which we did after a number of personal items were stolen. When we disassembled the security camera during move out, the liquor was stolen. Too many people with keys and no apparent oversight or accountability. Former independent living resident of Fairwinds Rio Rancho

We visited in Jan, put a deposit down, and were told 3-6 months until a one-bedroom apartment might become open. October, we got the call. We had visited three times prior. We were set to sign the final papers and ONLY because I called to change the date to sign, we were told they could not provide services to my brother because he might fall!!! The unprofessional part of this was he was not called until about 10 days ON A SUNDAY to tell him the apartment we were waiting on would not be available for him, I would say beware...things may not seem as one is led to believe. We now are looking elsewhere and have found a better place. The place that was at the top of the list is now at the bottom.

They sure are listing things not avaialable. No free WI-FI, No free cable or satelite TV. Interesting senior living next door does have these items included. Housekeeping every week and we are every two weeks.

Amazing place with caring staff. My mom lived here for 4 years and she loved it. Everyone we encountered were professional and compassionate especially as mom entered her end of life care. The mix of independent and assisted living creates a lively and engaging environment and within a few weeks of mom moving in she had a great social life. She particularly loved the variety of games she could play and she made many friends. Highly recommend.

My mother-in-law has lived at Fairwinds for almost 6 years. My parents moved in about 3 years ago. They each started on the independent side apartments, but both mothers moved to Assisted Living (my Dad passed). Both of our moms have lovely apartments that we recreated like their homes. They receive wonderful support in areas they need. We have spent countless hours at Fairwinds and have experienced all aspects of the community. Please don't hesitate to have your family member move in. My husband and I are very grateful our parents are truly happy at FW. We're happy they love living there and are safe and well cared for. The atmosphere of the community is warm and inviting. The restaurant serves food they like, the activities are interesting, fun, varied and plentiful. The employees, director and nurse care about our loved ones and it shows. Many have become like family to us. We've experienced a strong willingness to kindly address any minor issue that needs attention. My husband and I highly recommend Fairwinds. Check it out for yourself and you will notice the difference between it and other facilities.

My Dad was living in this facility. He was in Assisted living. This facility is awesome. From the food to care taking. I found the Care givers to be so caring and have so much compassion. My Sad unfortunately passed away on Wednesday the 15th of February. They took care of him along with Hospice. They have laundry service and housekeeping. Lots of activities if you want to get involved.

This place is more an independent living with minor assistance. If your loved one has the possibility of Dementia or Alzheimer, or if your elderly loved one is prone to UTIs then I would suggest staying away from here. My mother in law became very anxious and irritated. They did virtually nothing for her, except make my husband stay with her, all because of a UTI that they should have thought to test for. My mother in law was then admitted into a behavioral health center without notifying any of her family. The only reason Im giving 3 stars is because the food is excellent.

Pandemic and quarantine requirements has made it difficult to visit or spend time with our loved ones in Assisted Living facilities. Moms 82nd birthday was July 7th. And, thanks to Jade Hogan and the staff at Fairwinds Rio Rancho, they made it possible to celebrate moms birthday via Zoom. Multi generations of our familys faces from NM, NC, OR, and TX were displayed across the big theater screen for mom see...her brother, sister, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. With so many family members on Zoom, it was a bit chaotic, yet fun. Thank you Fairwinds for going above and beyond to make Gloria Reedys birthday a memorable one. Your efforts are much appreciated! Great staff and lots of options for activities. I've had two relatives live there for a total of over 4 years. I have spent hundreds of hours enjoying the festivities and socializing with my relatives. I believe the staff works hard to keep things upbeat and comfortable. And that said, it is very nice and a good value. Food is good, common areas clean. I hope a place like this is available when I decide it's time. It would be a blessing. I read some of the less positive reviews and simply know some folks are NEVER SATISFIED. NEVER. Whiners.....

After several visits, we have found Fairwinds staff and residents are friendly and caring. This is not a fancy retirement home so if you are looking for glamor, you won't want Fairwinds. If you want a pleasant homestyle environment and quality, you are in the right place. Everyone has theit own priorities. One thing I think they could add is another elevator. You can find problems/needs wherever you go but you need to decide whether the good outweighs the bad. We are now looking forward to out new home. By the way, the restaurant dining is awesome and the wait staff is really special. THIS IS AN UPDATE: 1 YEAR LATER We have lives at The Fairwinds in Rio Rancho for a little more than a year now. I feel the need to share my feelings again as I know when we were searching for a Senior residence, it helped to read the experiences of others. Over the course of a year, we have been able to experience the ups and downs that are common in a situation like this. I cannot emphasize how normal that is. Unless you have never worked in this type of environment, you have no idea how difficult it can be. Right now, the entire building is being renovated. Sometimes, the construction gets in the way of every day activities but management has been amazing in helping the residents thru this process and the entire building is shaping up to be very beautiful. Patience is the word to remember. It takes time to make these improvements but it surely is beautiful. When you live in a retirement home, meals start to become the highlight of your day. If you have ever worked in the restaurant business, you know how hard it is to find and keep good staff. Changes happen and usually often. We’ve had the opportunity to experience that a few times in the last year but the wide variety of menu choices makes it easy to choose something you can enjoy. The staff is very pleasant and treat the patrons with loving respect. Aging people can sometimes be difficult to get along with and hard to please but the staff is very forgiving and they continually strive to make everyone happy and comfortable. The activities are numerous and accommodate the multiple needs of the residents. We are entertained by various groups a few times a week and don’t let me forget the weekly Happy Hour with a live band and dancing. The Fairwinds has it’s ow “Tea Room” which I personally find very pleasant. There are movies shown in the theater twice a day. Religious services are done here. The gym is fully equipped and there is a trainer available if you wish. I cannot end this without mentioning the front desk. If you come in the front door, expect to be greeted by a friendly face and an accommodating staff member. It’s going to happen. My recommendation... Check out The Fairwinds. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION... I probably seem like an advertisement now but I’m not. I’m a resident and I have always felt that when something is good, you share the information. The renovations here are now complete and they are beautiful. Today marked the opening of the brand new Bistro. The hours for the Bistro are 10AM to 6:30PM. This very simply means that you can get something to eat all day here at the Fairwinds. The variety of items offers something for everyone’s taste buds. I was really impressed with the friendly atmosphere for the residents who were seated at the Bistro socializing. The social aspect for seniors is so important and this new Bistro is a medicine for the loneliness elderly people often feel. I saw residents smiling and laughing while they enjoyed something from the menu offerings. Some were just having coffee or tea while others were eating snack items, sandwiches or dessert items. It’s really special to live in a residence that offers something for everyone and a staff that shows genuine caring for the seniors who live here. The Fairwinds in Rio Rancho meets the wide variety of needs for the residents. It’s definitely a happy place.

3-27-2021 UPDATE - Most of us are now fully vaccinated and I cant think of ever feeling more relief. The virus made all of our lives lonely for family and friends. Slowly but surely, we are now seeing things open but not without very cautious protective steps. It has been very special to enjoy meals again in our pretty restaurant. There are activities every day again and the Spa has reopened. We are so fortunate to be able to see our loved ones again even though there are some necessary limitations attached to those visits. It has been a long year waiting for these openings and even though this isnt a full opening, its hard not to be very grateful to have it. The staff here was put into a very difficult position as their jobs became complicated but you wouldnt have known it. I cant say enough about the wonderful way they went about making us feel cared for. Thank you just doesnt seem like it says enough but thats how I will leave this message. Thank You!! 1-23-2021 UPDATE - Hello Covid19 - You surely have made life miserable for everyone but we will win this battle here at the Fairwinds. Today, residents and staff were vaccinated in our effort to end this madness. This was an extremely well organized event and made me very grateful that we have a staff that cares enough to go the extra mile for us. We are in good hands. Thank you! 9-19-2020 - UPDATE - We are living in a world of chaos. Yet, being a resident of the Fairwinds gives us a sense of security. Not everything is perfect but as this COVID-19 has turned all of our worlds upside down, what is? Nevertheless, we are cared for and the wonderful employees here do everything they can to brighten our days. Residents here are fortunate to be surrounded by so many warm and friendly essential workers. I cant say ThankYou enough. 7- 26-2020 - UPDATE - We are still living here in a lockdown situation due to COVID-19. I cant say enough about the wonderful staff here at the Fairwinds. They go out of their way to try and make a difficult situation as pleasant as possible. Our housekeeper does a very nice job keeping our apartment clean. She does this wearing a mask which I know is hot and uncomfortable but necessary for her safety and ours. We have daily temp checks with employees who are fully clothed in PPE. Again, this is done to protect us all and keep us well. We have activities provided to keep our brains stimulated several times a week. A COVID 19 Happy Hour is provided weekly and each resident is provided with a beverage of their choice. The servers bring our meals to the apartments and are always pleasant when they arrive. UPDATE - 4-28-2020. A year has gone by since I posted here. What a year it has been. We continue to enjoy living here and wouldnt feel grateful if I didnt take the time to share a few words today. The activities and events we enjoyed for the holidays were exceptional. It seemed as if it was getting better and better then boom .. COVID-19 hit the world we all live in. Living in a Long Term Care facility is not ideal during a Pandemic. I am so impressed with how this difficult event has been handled here. I feel safe because precautions for the residents here are far better than I imagined them to be. The staff has been amazing and although we have been quarantined, they have gone out of their way to made every day as pleasant as possible. I know none of this is easy for them but they do it without complaint. They are our essential workers. We wouldnt be safe without them. Like everyone else, I look forward to the end of this but for now, I want to say THANK YOU to our caregivers. Stay Well Everyone!! We have lived at the Fairwinds for over a year. In that time, we have seen it transformed into a very beautiful showplace but that is not what is the most appealing part of living here. Let me start with staff. From the front entrance to the kitchen and dining room and then on to maintenance and housekeeping we have been so impressed with the kindness and courtesy shown here. There have been good things happening in every department. The meals which everyone looks forward to at this stage in life have been very good and the variety of choices makes it difficult for the residents to be unable to find something they will enjoy. We are served by pleasant, smiling faces too and that adds a lot to your day. The apartments are spacious and comfortable. The activities are numerous and fun. There are games, outings, special musical treats and even a weekly happy hour with a live band and dancing if you wish. If your preference is religion, that can be found here too. Sometimes its especially hard to please the elderly especially when there are so many of them but the staff goes out of their way to do that. I highly recommend The Fairwinds and hope you will come and see for yourself if you are looking. We are more than pleased that we chose the Fairwinds for our senior years. Weve been here almost 2 years now and watched as continual improvements were made to our living environment. The entire building has been renovated and the addition of the bistro has had an amazing effect on the socializing for the residents. The staff continues to be warm and caring for the residents. Over the holidays, we were treated to beautiful decorations and wonderful entertainment. I cant stop reminding myself how alone and lonely we would have been if we stayed in our home. The New Years Eve party was really great and we celebrated Chinese New Year with an authentic Chinese celebration. Everything is here if you want to participate. Church services are available. Theres a full service beauty salon. I could go on and on. The decision to move here was hard. The decision to stay is easy. I cant wait for the Super Bowl Party next Sunday. I am sure it will be awesome.

Because of this company I have personally been able to touch, and help hundreds of families find care and assistance for their loved ones. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many incredible people thus far through my experiences here, and every day working at this job I am able to change peoples lives for the better. No company is perfect, no even The Oaks. What I appreciate about this team is that they are willing to take the time to look into every concern that is brought to their attention, and that the managers and staff work hard every day to go above and beyond to meet the expectations of the residents and families they serve. It is common for elevator to be down. Once the elevator was out of order for two months. Traps people on the upper floors very scary. They can’t seem to keep a chef employed. I have thrown away food because it was an identifiable and tasted wretched. This is not the first retirement facility my mother-in-law has stayed at the other was so much better and safer.
