I absolutely love Truewood Charlotte Center. My father has lived there for three years and is always raving about the staff and the food at the facility. He's in his mid 80's and the staff takes great care of him. Many of the staff from when he moved in are still there which says a lot for them as so many places have constant turnover. The facility is very clean and my dad feels very safe there. If you're considering a place for your loved ones you should definitely schedule a tour !

I went to the Mother's Day tea during a visit with my mother-in-law. She is in the memory care unit at Truewood on Cochran in Port Charlotte. I loved the use of balloons to create an elegant entry to the tea party. The tables were decorated with a cute setting of special tea cups and dessert plates. Treats included pastries, fresh fruits, hot and cold beverages. Destiny organized the event, and I want to thank her for a wonderful afternoon. Linda Brenner

My sister has been a resident at Truewood for just over two years and she is very comfortable with her living arrangements. During my visits and phone calls, I have experienced the staff to be very caring and show a great deal of concern for the well being of their residents. They are always pleasant and very helpful. I would highly recommend this facility for the care of your loved one.

My mom started out in independent living and is now in memory care. I checked out many places prior to moving her here. But there were 3 people that made my decision easy. One was Susan (she was the head nurse - no longer there), Carla at the front desk, and the other was Johnna Bolender who is the Community Relations Director. Three things that stuck out to me about Johnna was her focus on the well being of the residents, the staff - since having a strong team is crucial the she knows the regulations that the State holds you to. She was instrumental in me feeling comfortable having my mom in their care. Along with feeling like I have gained a friend. Truewood is affordable and your loved ones can age in place

Truewood by Merrill, Charlotte Center is an exceptional home. Warm and caring, the team is compassionate and professional. From Carla at the front desk to the entire team in Memory Care Garden House - Abigail, Melaine, Brandi, Alicia - we could not be more grateful. Destiny the head nurse is incredibly warm and caring. And General Manager Rebecca Desautels, quite literally, may have saved my parents' lives. Rebecca has known my parents since the last terrible storm - Hurricane Irma. The compassion and love she has shown to my parents is beyond measure, especially with my father and his journey with dementia. My father has had a number of challenges over the years and Rebecca has made this so much easier for our family with her kindness and humanity. We live out of state and try to visit as much as we can. Whenever we have questions she puts our minds at ease. When my late mother was in the hospital this past summer, Rebecca made personal visits to see her. We honestly don't know what we would do without her. And when she came to Charlotte Center from a previous facility, we had to come with her. Truewood Charlotte Center is a wonderful place. It is heartbreaking to watch my father go through dementia but the team is amazing and compassionate with him. They are skilled at joy. We see this in the other residents and have loved getting to know them. We are incredibly grateful and are looking forward to our next visit.

Finding a memory care unit for a family member is never easy. Truewood made it easy for us. You can feel the difference as soon as you walk in the door. From Carla’s warm hello at the desk to the genuine love and interest from their executive director Rebecca, it’s truly a home. It’s not just a job for these people - it’s a calling. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but more importantly the care goes above and beyond. With a lot of memory care units, residents look disheveled, ill kept, and neglected. My father-in-law always has clean clothes, his hair is always combed and his nails are always cut and clean. It’s the little details like these that make us feel so confident with the choice we made. We live out of state so knowing we have a staff like Alicia, Abigail, Melaine and Brandi (to name a few) who truly love what they do makes all the difference. Taking care of an aging parent with Alzheimer’s is not easy. The amazing people you find at Truewood support you in every twist and turn of this awful disease. We are grateful.

In August of this year, my Mom (91) was living with me and was becoming depressed and forgetful. I thought it would be good for her to get into an Adult Living Facility to have friends her own age. This was the best thing that we did. She has her own condo room, they take care of her meds and she has done a complete turn around. The whole place is extremely clean. The staff are so courteous and helpful. She now has a purpose to get up early and have her meals with the other residents. If you are looking for a Super place for your loved one, I would highly recommend Village Place (aka) Truewood by Merrill, Charlotte Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. A big Thank You to all the staff.

I don't care who gets offended but the food they always complain of,too much sugar .. and the constantly raiding of the rent there was ridiculous, I would have changed part of the staff there maybe it would of been professionally ran ..

The staff worked diligently to help my mom get the best care tailored for her needs. From the sales, management, nursing, caregiver, housekeeping and maintenance staff they were all attentive and efficient. They understand about the special considerations of the UTIs my mom had struggled with and of residents who may have a little {to a lot} of memory loss. Her apartment is adorable, clean and cable outlet moved to exact location we need same day. Weekly visits from a Physician Assistant who specializes with aging issues along with coordination of Home Health PT/OT/Skilled care and included cable/phone and supplies delivered to her door.... make my life incredibly easier and Mom's life efficient and carefree. I take issue with the one star ratings here that are grumpy ppl or employees... This place is not the fanciest you can find, but for a turn-key experience with smaller "pod" style neighborhoods .... aand caregivers attentive to 10 residents at a time .... my mom liked the intimate setting and ease of access to her pod's dining area. Everyone from housekeepers, caregivers, food staff, front desk was friendly and clearly enjoyed their jobs. Stay tuned for follow up in a month!

A wonderfully diverse place to live, no large dining room but rather each floor has it's own personal dining room, where residents can enjoy there dinner with residents of there own floor and not strain to hear each other. The lobby has a beautiful piano and the decorations are just stunning. The staff is so friendly and kind and knows every residents name they take time to really touch there lives, I've even seen them playing on the Wii with residents. The rooms all have windows to allow for light and the courtyards are so we'll maintained and full of life. The nursing team really works hard to take care of not just your parents but also you allowing for utter peace of mind they even have a memory care unit that way residents can stay with the team as their altimerzers progress rather than ship them off I love the stability. Can't say enough about this place love it for my mom.
