Reviews The Woodmark at Sun City
June 2026
After touring a number of Assisted living facilities for my mom and dad we visited The Woodmark in Sun City Az. Instantly it had a good vibe. Clean ,well lit, friendly residents and friendly staff. Jordan, our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. Welcoming , friendly yet very professional. She answered all of my questions and concerns and yet to this day gets back to me at her soonest opportunity. Some residential homes have a great sales pitch and then feel abandoned once they have your business. Not The Woodmark! I know my parent's are in good hands with assistance with medication distribution,in house doctor visits, nutritious meals and transportation for trips to different stores. They'll also transport the residents to doctor appointments. There is always some activity going on in conjunction with mental and physical health. A shout out to Erin in the financial department who resolved a situation without difficulty and for addressing it promptly. I definitely recommend The Woodmark in Sun City Az !

Was referred to Memory Care at The Woodmark by A Place for Mom in a rush to get my FIL to a safe place where he’d be happy and well taken care of. That was in February, and so far it’s been great! He seems to have acclimated well, he’s happy, and the staff is wonderful! The director Andrea is always responsive, they have a lot of activities for the residents, and it’s secure. It’s been a big weight off my shoulders knowing that he’s in a place that he will be happy, safe, and well taken care of! A+!

Our loving Aunt lives at Woodmark Memory Care and is doing very well. Andrea Osorio is always available to our family and is caring and professional. We would like to give our gratitude to the entire staff for allowing us to feel secure in our Aunts care. The home is clean and the food is good. This is not an easy aspect of aging but with your help, we are moving forward with positivity. Woodmark memory care gives our Aunt an opportunity to be happy, thank you.

We reviewed Woodmark for my mother who needs assisted living. It was well lit, clean, nice updated/remodeled floor plans, and with limited mobility, one of her favorite things was the layout which minimized her need to travel for meals and events. Kory was the representative we worked with, and we couldn't ask for someone to be more supportive and helpful. Ultimately she didn't chose Woodmark, but she had a very hard time making that decision. If her new home doesn't work out, we'll be back in contact with Kory.

I toured at the Woodmark in sun city, and my experience was nothing but amazing. I met with Kory and he was so nice to me and my brother. I watched his interactions with the residents and they absolutely loved him. The community was very clean and bright plus they had tons of activities. We can’t wait to bring our grandmother to Woodmark. I know she’s going to love it!!

I visited the Woodmark at Sun City for a tour for my Aunt. When I got there the staff were all so welcoming and friendly. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful landscape and how clean the property was. Kory gave me a tour of the community and was very patient and informative. While we were on the tour all the residents stopped to talk to him and introduce themselves to me. They were all so nice and pleasant. I love the environment there. We are still looking at communities but due to Kory's outstanding tour The Woodmark will be at the top of our list. I highly recommend!!!

Very nice facility, clean, friendly, thorough, kind. Patient with many questions. Staff wasn’t rushed. All patients appeared happy and engaging. The facility was much larger than it looked from the outside

This is a fabulous place to live. I was warmly welcomed. It’s very clean and bright. The rooms are huge compared to other facilities. Virtually anything I imagine ever needing is available right there. There’s no reason I would ever need to move again.

Great management and great staff that truly cares about their residents!
June 2025
With close communication there has been recent improvements. I do feel that the the care plans "levels" are vague/confusing, and you cannot seem to just pay for exactly what is needed, so you somehow always have to pay for more, it doesn't make sense. I think this needs to be changed so it is clear and simple, easy to understand. Pricing does seem to increase faster than seems reasonable. I will say that many of the staff are very helpful and kind. The Sunday receptionist has been really helpful to to me on behalfofmy mother.

14 years in the healthcare field, and I would want this team, care for my own family before any other community. Specific to the memory care; With every opportunity that I have been in this community, it's always All Hands On Deck. This is especially critical for those patients that are needing that extra bit of care and attention. From the memory care director Crystal, to the CNAs, to the always diligent nurses, to the patients, this community operates like a tight knit family. I would recommend this memory care team over and over. I have personally witnessed, when one person is unable to assist ,or out sick, or in the middle of working with a patient, two other individuals step up to help one another.

I like it here they do need to hirer more care givers and another nurse because I have not seen any at night I know their but I don't see them the place is clean and the workers are so loving and caring but they need more workers. But there is a lot of changes because this place of owners have change. When you get older change is not all way what we want.
June 2024
There is no communication when trying to get information. They keep raising there prices, they dont have enough help. They sure like to add on a late fee $250.00 a month if your rent is one day late even when its there fault for not sending the invoice in time for you to get the rent to them on time.

I apparently hit a wrong button. I never intened to give a bad review. The staff ar Woodmark has been great. My uncle's like it there. Bright and sunny

May 2024
My parents have been at the Woodmark for 17 months. They have been well cared for and the level of care has increased as my father's condition deteriorated. Last week my father passed away peacefully in their room at the Woodmark surrounded by family (just the way he had wished). The staff was very supportive. My mother made it clear that she wants to continue to stay at the Woodmark. We did learn that there is only so much they can provide and we needed to hire a private caregiver to augment the Woodmark support (we are geographically separated). Primarily we needed someone to take my father to and from medical appointments and stay with him through the appointment (the Woodmark has a shuttle but doesn't stay during the appointment). It's a nice community and my mother has made many friends which is even more important since the passing of my father.

Seems like will like living there.

February 2024
We're very happy with how this place takes care of my mother. The staff is very friendly and constantly check on her, notify me of issues and offer solutions. We've tried a few other assisted living locations and this is the best she has been to.
March 2023
Ratings can be deceiving. Recently, my family searched for a place for our dear uncle to live out his tender years. Our three months' search ended with placement in a facility that met all our criteria, but because of their less than stellar online reviews, we were skeptical at first. So, prior to making a commitment with a deposit, we communicated with not only the marketing and executive directors, but the activities and nursing directors as well. Now, months later, we believe that establishing excellent communication with the staff has given my family great peace of mind, and we are grateful for the care and compassion my uncle receives. We all have bad days on the job, but unlike the Michael Jackson song, one bad apple does not necessarily spoil the whole bunch!
March 2023
My mom lived there for one year and was mostly happy. She made friends and the activity director Michelle is a gem. Ultimately, we had to move her because they were unable or unwilling to provide the increasing level of care for mild dementia. We were not happy about this as we had been promised she could stay there until she dies by the sales staff and she is still mostly capable of independent living. Mom loved the food and the conversations at meal time. She gained healthy weight. They have a podiatrist, hairdresser and a primary care provider available on site. The main reason we moved mom into assisted living was to make sure she was getting the proper medications every day. Near the end of her stay we discovered that the staff was editing her medications without our knowledge, including taking her cold-turkey off her SSRI antidepressants. Mom was then suicidal. This could easily have been prevented had the staff communicated with us. If you are moving in there, it might be helpful to convert to their pharmacy Saliba. Things that were not optimal and can be changed: security “ mom lost over $200 and some rare coins from her locked room. The PD said it was not the third time in 3 months theft was reported there. I am sure theft is under reported because the population is so vulnerable and no one believes what they say. Cameras do not exist anywhere, not in the hallways, not at the front door, not outside the property. Dozens of people have keys to every room and the staff changes often. In addition, the doors from the stairwells that lead outside are not alarmed in any way and I found them propped open at 10pm. The PD told us to put camera’s in mom’s room which we did, but Woodmark said it was against the rules. The PD told me they could not outlaw cameras in the rooms as the room is mom’s personal abode. Caretaking and care plans “ some of the caretakers are angels, some are not. The pay is low leading to fast turnover. It takes months to get health insurance so often caretakers get sick and have to quit as they can’t get treated and have little PTO. Most of them have another job. The care plans which are supposed to go from 0-5 are ill defined. Once we signed a care plan we were mailed the plan for another resident, and mom never received the twice a week showers and assisted dressing that we were paying for. There are supposed to be procedures and paperwork to sign off on for care plans but apparently no one checks them. They are chronically short staffed in the caretaking area and it compromises care. The Resident Services director told me repeatedly mom is happy, why do you care about this stuff?. Mom needed a surgical preparation day, all liquid diet and bowel preparation. I asked Woodmark to help beyond our scope of care, I asked to hire a nurse to come in and do it, against the rules, I asked if we could pay a Woodmark caretaker overtime on our dime to do it, against the rules. I was told if the family could not do the 24 hours of bowel preparation that mom could not have the surgery and they knew how much pain she was in from rectal prolapse. This was inhumane and unhelpful. None of these rules are in the resident handbook. If you are planning to put your loved one here, I would recommend you keep in frequent contact with the staff to ensure that your loved one is getting the care they require.
August 2022
For reasonably self sufficient, independent residents, the Sun City Woodmark is fine, but as the required care levels increase, the care drops off substantially. My mom (rest her soul) liked the facility and most notably the food until she required advanced care; repeated complaints basically went unanswered, and any immediate improvements went away quickly. She was on the facility-dispensed medication program, and was mis-medicated on at least several instances that I knew of. The real problems that were perpetually ongoing were dealing with the Business Office, and the lead personnel of the department (Margaret) and the site manager (Holly). It took months to get simple billing issues fixed, and took many appointments and in-person trips to resolve; they were very condescending and patronizing. I was in the process of moving my mom to another facility when she passed away (surgical complications), and would not recommend Woodmark for anyone but the most independent residents.
June 2022
The facility is really nice however the staff don’t seem to care about patients. If you plan on sending your loved one here, be prepared to handle everything. They don’t keep the patients appointments organized. There is no accountability when an issue arises. I’m constantly having to reach out to make sure my father’s appointments and medical needs are being handled. They always claim to not know however doctor staff have told me they get no response any time they reach out to The Woodmark. I receive zero communication unless I reach out first. The way they handle their residents feels like all they want is the money. They treat their facility more like an apartment then assisted living.
