Everything you should be looking for in an assisted living facility!

A family member recently stayed at the Huntington facility for rehabilitation and care. I reside out of town and needed to do all of my contact with the facility thru phone or e-mail. My communication with the entire staff from admissions to nursing and rehabilitation could not have been more professional, patient, and cooperative in answering my questions or concerns in regards to my family member's care and progress. Thanks to all at the Huntington

Our experience at The Huntington has been excellent. The nursing staff is caring, knowledgeable, and alert. They will work with hospitals, doctor's offices, pharmacies, and physical therapy to get the best outcome. The aides are caring and friendly. The activities coordinator arranges for a variety of activities in the Huntington and also excursions for lunch and shopping. There is something for everyone. On-site beauty/hair services are great. No place is perfect but Huntington staff try and they also listen to residents and make changes where they can. When you need assisted living accommodations, I would recommend this facility to others.

My grandmother has been at The Huntington since it first opened in 2014. We have had such great care over the past 5 years. Every single employee from administration, activities, nursing, dietary, and housekeeping have been wonderful. We love that she is able to have some independence with the oversight of nursing care. The building is beautifully decorated and her apartment is very spacious! She loves going out on bus rides and to lunch at all of her favorite spots with other residents and staff members. We are comforted by the continuum of care Virginia Health Services provides for when she may need more assistance down the road. We would recommend the Huntington to anyone needing assisted living!

I moved my mother in April of 2015, and I am quite pleased with the facilities, staff, and overall living experience there. After her becoming acclimated to the food, mother also seems to enjoy dining there. My only complaint at this time is that we, the family of the resident, should have some sort of card key for entry into the Huntington, vs having to walk all the way to the Newport (where there is minimal parking) to gain entry. My wife and I are both handicapped, and this tends to be a long, unnecessary walk for both of us. Also, when we take mother out for the day and come back after 5, or on weekends, we are expected to not only walk that long walk ourselves, but also subject mother to that long walk.
