A while ago I had a friend living at Sun Valley North. They were improving the facility greatly, but the air conditioning unit was so loud I could barely hear people speaking. Staff are friendly, but oversight of patient care seemed lacking. Residents have fallen and stayed down on the floor for sometime before they were noticed. No drinks were provided regularly, even on scorching days. Residents had to find their way to the kitchen to ask for water. Rooms were not tidied for those who cannot reach the floor themselves. Furniture was lacking to organize and add comfort to a room - like an easy chair, a floorlamp, a bookshelf and other storage. There don't seem to be activities for those who need to stay inside, just a very sad TV room. More over, when you enter the facility, there were no staff greetings or any real acknowledgement. Doors are definately not yet handicapped friendly. My friend there often left to visit me looking well-dressed and clean, except she always forgot her support socks which she cannot pull up by herself. And somedays we visitied she looked completely unwell (swollen face and extremities and slurred speech) but told me that no nurse had talked to her. I was very very worried for my friend when she was there. She was on a very fixed income so perhaps this was as good as she could afford.
