My friend moved into the cottages in Snohomish recently. Tracy who talked to us and worked with us on a contract was wonderful. She went Way beyond the expectations to help adjust my friend to her new living situation. Tracy Evans the nurse director is amazing and so is the upper leadership of this facility. I know my friend is safe I know my friend is cared for and I know that this is a beautiful place for her! She has already made several friends and is getting adjusted. I appreciate everything The cottages in Snohomish have done for her.

Since they took over the facility I feel mother has been well taken care of, far better than the previous company. They have more care givers to watch and help. And they are very caring people as well

My mom has only been at The Cottages for a short time, and while she’s been there, she’s had a couple of falls”no fault of anyone’s, just part of her dementia. Living out of state, it’s been challenging to navigate all the logistics and ensure my mom is safe and well cared for in her environment. I want to give a special thank you to Mari, the Executive Director, for her care and support as we worked through all the details. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tracy (DNS), who has been incredibly helpful and available to guide me through the hospital and rehab requirements to get mom back to the Cottages after surgery and rehab. You can truly tell they care about people, and that makes such a difference for my mom and our family.

In the 5 months my cousin has been in the facility, I am starting to see improvement. The food is getting better, rooms are being cleaned weekly, and there is a shower and clothes washing schedule. The facility is lovely with good walking paths for residents. I spoke with another resident and she too has noted the improvement. There has been a transition period with new owners.

This community has new owners. Based on my personal experience I know they have a very high level of commitment to compassionate quality senior care. You should meet the people there for yourself to make the right decision for your family.

Would not recommend! Very poor management. No activities for residents. Some of the care givers are good but they have a huge turnover. Housekeeping is very poor. Hard to communicate with anyone in the office...they seem to be always in a meeting and they don't respond to voicemails in a timely matter. They keep raising rates it seems every couple of months.

I enjoy the atmosphere here so much, strolling in the amazing gardens, having ice cold lemonade in the patio and the friendly staff who knows everyone's names. The staff work so hard to provide care to everyone here and make everyone feel at home.

My mom has been there a year now. She says the food is always cold; for example, breakfast is usually oatmeal, served lukewarm at best. Sometimes they'll nuke it. They went without hot water for over a WEEK. They recently had to move everyone out of a cottage to fumigate for rats, there are NO activities (maybe a Bingo game once in a while?), no services (used to be hair and podiatrist), Mom says laundry is supposed to 2x week, but it's maybe once, no one comes to clean, and apparently it's been that way for months?? OMG. I called once and there was no nurse on site, and now I saw my mom had a Rx cream the doctor requested be given 2x day BY THE NURSE, was just..handed to her. She's spreading it on her hand, her knee, wherever - NOT how it supposed to be used. It does not seem like the residents are their "first priority". This is on the management - the individual employees I have met seem VERY caring and I've liked every one of them. But the overall management? It seems like $$ is the top priority, because nothing is being spent to keep these people happy. Two stars only because I'm giving the on-site employees an extra star; they deserve it, trying to help the residents with so little management.

Communication is the worst part of this facility. You can't get the staff to follow up on questions or return phone calls. Called 4 times in 4 days and still no response. They don't keep the rooms clean and keep saying they will clean a carpet which is filthy but never follow through. Liked the idea of small cottages but any advantage is wiped out by the lack of communication and follow through.

My dad has been at this facility for six and a half years. It has changed ownership three times since he has moved in. I visit frequently, so feel that I have a good understanding of the day to day procrdures. The quality of care really comes down to two factors. The management and the caregivers. The two that are overseeing operations are Heinz, the director and the Charmane, the recently hired head nurse, both of which, I cannot say enough good things about. Heinz has to be one of the most ethical, compationate hard working people that I know. His problem solving abilities are extrordinary and he seems to have a very good repor with caregivers, which contributes to the success of operations. Charmaine has hit the ground running. From day one I was impressed with her ability to both give individual care and also handle the daunting job of overseeing the medical aspects of the job as well as her skills at problem solving in showering and grooming of residents with limited abilities. I'm not sure if it was the screening in hiring caregivers or just good fortune, but I am continually pleased with the compassion that I see in the caregivers. Many of their tasks are unpleasant, so I am impressed to see them working thru the day with a happy demenor. This good and happy environment benefits the residents, and when I visit, it is evident. The activities director, Dawna, seems to be continually brainstorming for new and interesting activities for residents. She has a great enthusiasm and I have seen her progress thru various positions at Pacifica, with that enthusiasm in whatever she is tasked with. We all want the best for our parents. I feel very fortunate to have my dad at Pacifica. Update: My dad passed at 101 years old. I will be forever grateful to the staff and administration.

Please see my updated review below... I am so disappointed in the quality of care my grandmother receives especially for the huge monthly payment our family pays (over $6000 a month!) The facility is so dirty and sometimes I can't even find a caregiver or anyone else that can answer a question! There is constantly urine and feces everywhere! Im just so upset right now from visiting my grandma, I can't even think straight! God, when I think about ending up in a place like this myself someday.......it scares me to death. I just want to cry. Update: I was immediately contacted by Jake the Regional Director who set up a meeting with Heinz the new Executive Director of Pacifica in Snohomish. The meeting went very well and they both assured me that everything would be addressed and corrected immediately. They were in the middle of transition from Brookdale to Pacifica at the time. Ever since Pacifica took over the quality of care has vastly improved. Heinz Gehner does a great job as the Executive Director of Pacifica and has a great supportive staff as well. I am very pleased with the changes and the quality care my grandmother receives. Thanks Pacifica!

Hello Heinz. I am so pleased with the help and service Pacifica is giving my mother, my family and me that I felt that I needed to let you know in writing. I know I have mentioned to you how grateful I am during this difficult time for your help. Although my mother, Lovelle Wood, is now on Hospice, this could not have happened without the guidance and care of the Pacifica staff. My family and I were worried sick about her but we had no idea of what to do ” and here is where your caring staff stepped in with kind and gentle help. First of all, I am so grateful to Heather who was so encouraging when Providence Hospice turned us down. She immediately began plan B and contacted Evergreen Health Hospice. She even continued to work on the situation throughout the weekend for us. Fortunately, this plan worked out and my mother will be able to have the benefits of extra care during this difficult time. But there are so many wonderful caregivers, too. All the Dogwood aides have been so kind and encouraging. In fact, the Evergreen Hospice nurse was highly complimentary to Sylvia regarding her knowledge and skill level! When I was there yesterday, I was surprised and thrilled to see how many of the staff popped in just to check on her ” Jennifer (med tech), Alex (nurse), Nancy (activities director), Dawna (receptionist) and, of course, Kim (aide) pops in whenever she can. There are so many to recognize and I am afraid I may have missed several! I am so appreciative of this wonderful care. Thank you. Cherri

Pacifica Snohomish is undergoing a beautiful change. The renovation well on its way bringing an elegant touch of warmth to the homes of our residents. There is a dedication to the care and wellbeing for everyone here. Heinz Gehner, the Executive Director is amazing! He is involved with the community. Committed. Working closely with each department to ensure the quality of care is reached. Helping staff where needed. He is there for the residents and he listens! I love the changes taking place right now and excited to see what our future brings... Front Desk, Dawna Wymore

Our mother has been living in Brookdale for more than 6 years. In that time there have been at least 4 changes in ownership, each time with a significant decline in services. They are chronically short staffed, there is no continuity of care: different staff almost every time we come to visit, poor housekeeping, broken fixtures sometimes taking up to a year and a half to fix. As this is a private pay facility we expected better. As mom is in the memory care unit, we are paying $7,000.00 per month for her care. I would not recommend Brookdale to anyone. The aides are overworked, underpaid, but very caring. Shame on you to upper management for lining your pockets at the expense of the most vulnerable of society...

Our experience with the memory care dept. was not a particularly good one. Our 2 month stay here was riddled with issues ranging from significant mishaps with the meds to poor hygienic care for mom. I believe the caregivers try to do well, but it's those above them that cause the problems. Billing mistakes have been a problem as well. The management appears helpful, but have had issues with following through with requests. Being a very expensive facility, I would expect the care to be proportionate to the cost. It seems quite evident to me that Brookdale is a very much profit driven business designed to benefit stockholders, with lesser regard to the residents and employees. On a positive note, the facility is spacious, clean and adequate. The memory care area is locked and secure, the meals seem ok. I would seek private care before doing this.

Our stay was very brief. I was delighted with the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, the communication wasn't great. On EVERY occasion I spoke to someone about my mothers account and finances I was told one thing and something else happened. I would highly recommend getting what they say in writing when they say it. The numbers change and the comment I got was "you must have mis-understood me". I was also less than pleased with the care. I was there every day visiting my mom and they never got the food right, the meds were mixed up and they go smoke more than interact with guests. Overall, they have some work to do! A few good care givers and friendly but no follow through with promises.

This is such a unique and wonderful community. The staff are just incredible. Everyone has gone our of their way to make my mother-in-law's stay smooth and comfortable. Every time we call or visit, she tells us all the events of the day and how great the staff has been to her. From the Director to the Care Staff, they are best in my opinion. Everyone is approachable and attentive to our concerns. If you're living near Snohomish, please take the time to visit this community. I am so relieved that our family did.

This senior facility is NOT RECOMMENDED. Staff is so low and has such poor training and pay that it caused a horrible accident to happen to my 95 yr old mother. What happened: They allowed an (alzheimers) resident to push her wheelchair outdoors back to her room after an event. The resident lost control of the wheelchair and my mother careened out of control down a small incline in her wheelchair. Unable to exert control, she tipped over at a high speed, came out of the chair, damaged her right eye, broke a bone in her face and has deep lacerations on her arm, hand, leg and scalp. She suffered horribly. We did not receive an apology. The executive staff is reluctant to pay for her doctor bills and we have no communications on what they are doing to prevent a reoccurance. To add insult to injury, it now appears she is being ostracized by the staff. She has also lost vision in her right eye...
