Barbara D. In the 1900s, Paul Allen proposed building a community, centered in a park, from Lake Union to the north side of downtown Seattle, My husband and I were excited and hoped that construction would take place. The tax fees were voted on twice, failing both. In 2007, we moved from Bellevue to South Lake Union (SLU) where we lived in a condo for 10 years. SLU WAS GROWING a neighborhood with new buildings, restaurants, stores, and offices everywhere. In 2017, we moved into our comfortable apartment in Mirabella Seattle in the Cascade neighborhood. We did look at other retirement homes, but unlike their neighborhoods, S. Lake Union and Cascade were developed into a fun atmosphere, within walking distance or a short drive to the arts which we attended. We did not want to live in homes that did not offer offer much variety. Location was very important for us. I was born in Seattle and grew up on Capital Hill. I felt like I returned home.

I have lived here for 12 years and am very glad to call this my home. The Residents are warm and welcoming, the staff is competent and responsive, the apartments are large (compared to comparable facilities) with each having a balcony, and the meals are outstanding. There are always a wide range of programs and activities which are planned by residents. The area is interesting and walkable.

We moved to Mirabella almost three years ago. We encountered a very warm, friendly welcome from residents and staff. We enjoy the many amenities in the facility including the fitness center and pools/hot tub. We appreciate the very walk-able neighborhood location with access to Lake Union Park, MOHAI, restaurants (when you want a change of scenery from our excellent dining options in house), and other services. We often walk to venues and events downtown but sometimes use the nearby stops for public transport to get to Seattle Center, downtown, Capital Hill or the University District. Mirabella also provides regular town car or bus service to varied shopping, museum, walks, art & cultural events/venues. Fortunately we have not yet had to avail ourselves of the health care services available here, but have heard from other current or former residents that they or their loved ones have had excellent health and/or memory care. The biggest problem we have is making choices from the very many resident planned and presented outings, educational programs and musical performances presented. It's impossible to do everything available. We're very happy to have chosen Mirabella!

This can be a wonderful place for many of the residents. Tons of activities, and a sense of community. I would however avoid letting valets touch your vehicle if possible.

We have had several clients go to Mirabella for rehab. The staff did a great job. I would highly recommend them. I own an in home care company called Senior Helpers and have not seen this level of attention at other places. nice work!

My mom was at Mirabella twice over the past four months due to some unfortunate circumstances and Brooke Kastens (social worker) was my "go to" for everything I needed for my mom especially due to covid and the inability to visit my mom and help her directly. Clearly this was a particularly challenging time given family members could not be of any assistance to our loved ones. Brooke just took the reigns and was there to help with anything I needed for my mom. She was super Responsive and really went above and beyond. She clearly loves her job and it shows! Hats off to Brooke and the rest of your staff! They made a very difficult set of circumstances much more bearable!

My experience at Mirabella has been wonderful. I have been in this facility now for four months recovering from a bad fracture of my leg. Both in the skilled nursing and on to the assistant care. Everyone from administration to all of the nurses and staff are exceptional. Their professionalism and care is the best. The facility is beautiful and the food is very good, healthy and good choices. They are also very safe with this pandemic we are in, a main reason I chose this facility. I would recommend Mirabella to anyone who is looking for a place for recovery and or a beautiful place for retirement.

We moved here on March 1 ,2019forsaking our apartments in Honolulu and in Ashland,Oregon. It was hard to give those places up , BUT we're very glad we did. Mirabella is in the SouthLake Union area an interesting and walkable neighborhood. Our 1200 sq, ft two-bedroom East-facing apartment is light and quiet. We were provided with new appliances and floor covering when we moved in and the apartment was painted in colors we chose. The dinners served in the elegant lake-view dining room are excellent and amazingly varied and the service is super. For us athletic facilities were important and Mirabella has the best: salt water pool with four lanes and long enough to swim real laps plus two other smaller pools, an amazingly well-equipped weight room with air-pressure weights, tread mills rowing machine and stationary bikes. This equipment is used by enthusiastic residents , but we have never found the place over-crowded. We have not participated in the numerous classes or in water aerobics, but we know residents who think these classes are quite good. And finally the culture of Mirabella is welcoming and interesting. The building welcomes speakers on a wide variety of subjects, Osher Life Long Learning classes , and musical groups. There are numerous clubs and interest groups. The movie club shows two films a week ( open to all) one oldie and one current. Oh yes, and I have forgotten to mention the comfortable and well- stocked library: daily NYT, WSJ, and Seattle Times , various magazines and books on every subject which you just take out and return -no check out. A great plus here is that the resident director and the facilities director have an open-door policy . They are responsive to criticism. This is not a democracy or a condominium ; residents do not establish policy , but we see improvements made based on our suggestions. Anyway. It's an all-round good place to hang out and enjoy being old.

The amenities are lovely the people are very nice here. Make no mistake if you are looking for strictly independent living, this is a first class FIVE STAR Facility. However, Do not choose this facility for your last residence (as the majority may) without a thorough look and tour of the second floor. For short-term rehabilitation purposes it seems to be above board. However, if you're at the end of your twilight years from a terminal illness or other, you could be disappointed by the care you would expect. Waiting days to see a doctor with multiple reschedules, not delivering medication on time, if at all. Seems under staffed or just lazy? The "nurses" on many instances run like the staff at Home Depot if you have a question or concern. Just our experience with two loved ones. An opinion, nothing more. You will also need to get used to dealing with a very large Somali, most are nice some are very unhelpful, but that is expected to some extent of all people that may be fulfilling such job functions? You must judge as I will not. Many were kinder than the patients other could not have cared less. Take a tour of the second floor is my point in leaving.

They provide free valet parking for guests of residents but there is a decent amount of paid street parking M-S from 8-8 and free on Sunday and Holidays. Be aware the Town car is for residents only and destinations located within a mile of the facility. The dinners I have eaten there with my parents were very good and offered a variety.

My father has a condo here. Nice staff. Every helper of any kind is helpful. The dining room is great. Also, a bar with full size tables to have dinner and watch games on TV. People who live here seem to be pleased with the Mirabella. Valet parking, larger rooms for special get togethers serving food. Lounges for bridge, puzzles, socializing., beautiful pool, fully equipped workout room, social events, classes. Assisted living floor is great. Takes care of People who are injured, Sick, recovering from strokes, heart attacks, etc. I'm very happy he is here. Also there is a memory care wing.

Tried to get my mother transferred to Mirabella. Stopped by and asked to see someone; was told that no one was able to talk to me and gave me a phone number of someone to contact. When I called her, I got a voice mail stating that she will be out from Sept.16-Oct.1 (and today is October 18). So I called the main swtichboard and was again transferred to someone else's voicemail. if a facility is too busy to take intake calls, how will they treat their patients and patients family? I give them five thumbs down!
