My mom lived at Red Oak for about 4 months right after a severe stroke that landed her in the hospital for a month. Amy, Jarad, Kym, and the staff members and residents were so welcoming to her even though she was just getting back on her feet (literally) and working on speech issues. Jarad and Kym especially made the move in and communication very easy, especially with the endless administrative tasks that need to happen when someone moves to this stage in life. The food at Red Oak is pretty decent and she got a room with a view of Mt. Si! I was really worried about my mom's first experience with assisted living, especially since we are both new to the area and I am her only family member taking care of her. Red Oak eased my anxiety and was essential in smoothing over the transition right out of the hospital when I still wasn't sure whether she would be able to cope with semi-independent living. We ended up moving her to be closer to Seattle because it would be easier for me, but my mom was reluctant to leave. The activities at Red Oak are a little sparse, and there were a few miscommunications, but Amy and her team were very responsive and quick to make things right. I really appreciate everyone here who showed so much kindness to my mom.

As a long term employee at Red Oak Residence,I would like to mention what Red Oak represents to me, as an assisted living facility. Amy Jarboe and the entire Wilbert family, go way above and beyond to help all of their residents and staff, emotionally, financially, or any other need or issue that may arise. After working at other long term facilities prior to Red Oak, I had never experienced the loving and caring nature that radiates from an administrator, such as Amy Jarboe. When a crisis occurs, for example, the infamous North Bend natural gas explosion back in 2014, I happened to be working at Red Oak at the time that night. And, because of the communication plan in place, everyone, including staff and residents, were well prepared to respond to this crisis because of our pre-planned, and well executed disaster training. Long ago, a DSHS surveyor encouraged me to seek employment at Red Oak because it is family owned, operated and provides an amazingly positive environment. I am eternally grateful that I made this decision. Iam a part of an Amazing family, that I would not find at any other corporate facility. I am so very Blessed to be a part of this team!!!!

This Covid ridden world is filled with many frustrations and negatives and some communities suffer more than others. Assisted Living Facilities are a community of elderly people stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Elderly need to be with family and yet, being vulnerable, they need protection from Covid. Amy Jarboe, the Director of the facility, has done a remarkable job of balancing protective mandates and kindness. During Covid, my dad had a stroke and there was discussion with his doctors about moving him to a memory facility. Because of this I also had to enter the facility to collect dads personal financial papers. Those short visits gave me a first row seat at what was going on inside Red Oak. The staff were friendly and kind, as well as respectful and protective of the residents. In addition, Amy called me to talk about dad and his needs. She was implemental in helping set up a plan for dad so he could return to Red Oak, which he considers home. Amy stands steadfast about protecting her residents from Covid and following the necessary requirements put in place by the Governor and I have seen her put her foot down to do so. Yet, I have also seen her handle residents, frustrated about the rules, with tender kindness. Her respectful words and posture towards my father, who has become cranky after his compromised memory, not only touched my heart but gave me the confidence about my decision to leave dad at Red Oak. I am thankful for Amy and all the staff at Red Oak. AND, Dad, who doesn't remember much, regularly tells me that "Amy does a better job than most." What I see is that the Director at Red Oak is willing to stand guard and do what needs to be done when the going is tough, but then is remarkably kind and gracious with the residents. A person who can do both is rare, and the people who gain are both the residents and their families.

Very clean and has a great welcome home feel and smell! The staff is the BEST. From management all the way through ! Best decision I made to make Red Oak my home! Ive made some good friends and it is so convenient for friends and family to visit . Right next to ball field complex and skate park. We even have a path to walk there and enjoy !
