Great facility with friendly staff.

I thought I was coming for a service. Turns out I got an experience worth talking about.

As the child of a resident, I’m so happy to know that the staff are always looking out for my parents’ well-being”not just physically but emotionally too. Recently, my mom returned from a doctor’s appointment weighed down by news that she might need surgery. One of the care staff, Joseph S., noticed her demeanor as she exited the elevator and stopped to ask if she was okay. She wasn’t, and her emotions poured out: worry, stress, and uncertainty about how this would affect Dad and his care, since she does so much for him. Joseph talked her through the wave of overwhelm and assured her that the staff at The Lodge would be there to help Dad if she couldn’t. Mom described it as being glued back together so she could face the conversation with Dad about her news without falling apart again. Joseph doesn’t just look after the daily needs of the residents”he clearly pays attention to their emotional needs too. Knowing people like Joseph are there at The Lodge makes it easier to be far away from my folks.

A great place for our aging parents. They enjoy the dinning, especially having a menu with various food items you can order. My mom enjoys the activities the most, and takes advantage of a workout class every morning, playing card games, and the option to watch a movie in a theater setting every evening. The staff are friendly, and most all of them remember my parent’s names. Both mom and dad like to take advantage of the ice cream shop in the afternoon. I would recommend the Lodge for anyone seeking a good assisted living place for their parents.

My BFF has been at The Lodge for nearly four years. I am also her Power of Attorney...which means I am responsible for all things regarding her care. Our time at The Lodge has been a wonderful experience....especially the past two years. Under the direction of the Kevin Reed and his amazing leadership team, we could not ask for a better place for her to live. I hesitate to name individuals because I don't want to leave anyone out. From Kevin and Samantha, the Executive Director and Assistant ED, the entire leadership team, the care staff, the housekeeping staff, the dining staff (OH...the food....props to Chef Jen!!!!) the maintenance team, the activities team (thanks Stephanie for the super fun Cardio Drumming class Thursday!) the front desk crew who are always so warm and friendly and willing to help....this facility is a well oiled machine filled with caring, compassionate and loving staff. I am grateful to have such amazing people caring for my dearest friend.

Sometimes the back of the house doesn’t get the credit they deserve. At The Lodge at Mallard’s Landing the housekeeping staff have earned high praise. During recent months with a staff shortage, under Dunnail’s excellent leadership he and his housekeepers Alice, Chrystal, Ashley and Suzanne rose to the challenge and provided the residents wonderful service. As a two-year resident myself I can share that their personal, detailed and thorough upkeep of the individual units and the common areas truly make being here a five-star experience. Many of us have issues that make attending to our needs, including keeping our individual units safe and clean, unique for each resident. Dunnail, Alice, Chrystal, Ashley and Suzanne each and as a team always deliver superb individualized service that is so much appreciated.

I had given the Lodge at Mallards Landing a positive review in the past but wanted to add to it. My past review was about the Independent Living side. This time it is about the Memory Care Center they have that my mother is a resident of. I go to see my mother most days I am in town. The staff is incredible, all of them of the personal attention they give and how well they manage and control many various situations that are not easy to do. Aymi, Emily A. and Emily Stevenson are just amazing as is all of the memory care staff. I could not be more pleased with where she is at considering the situation that brings someone to this level of need. The staff at Mallards Landing does a fantastic job making their residents feel connected. I have watched my dad enjoy his time here. The happy hour on Thursdays with live music has my dad and others singing and having a great time.

My husband and I would like to thank several employees who always go out of their way for us and make The Lodge the best place to live. They are DeNalle, head of housekeeping, who always goes way beyond what is expected; Evan, a Server in the dining room who is simply the best. Hailie, the greatest kitchen manager on earth and Amy in Memorycare for all of her kindnesses. Thank you, Blain and Sue Eliot

Where do begin. Finding a place for Mom to live, with her declining health and dementia, was overwhelming. Nothing seemed the right fit and many places seemed substandard. My brother went to The Lodge on a whim with no appointment and it was the day everything changed for the better. Nicole showed him around and he immediately felt this was it. The rest of the family went a few days later and knew he was right. Nicole was caring and understanding about how we felt. She explained in detail about the care mom would get and it was even better than we expected. My mother immediately made a connection with all the memory care staff, Remmy especially. She treated mom with such love, like she was her own mother. Kristy, the activities coordinator, was so sweet with her. If mom was having a sad day Kristy was there to distract her by pampering her, getting her to engage in an activity or just talking to her. Kristy even made sure that in mom’s last days that her nails were painted just how she liked them. I will never forget that loving gesture. As a family together we were able to enjoy the assisted living side of The Lodge. We could grab a coffee, have a delicious meal in the dining room, and enjoy the beautiful outdoor areas. It was mom’s favorite thing to do. Honestly, there was not one person that we encountered that we did not like. They have a top notch staff that you can tell enjoy where they work. I could go on and on. I only wish we had found The Lodge At Mallards Landing sooner.
July 2025
We were just in the Tacoma area for a visit of friends and family, and one of those friends had moved into The Lodge at Mallard's Landing since we last saw him. He's been singing the praises of being a resident there, and we got to experience a bit of the great time he's having. We visited several times over two days and every member of the staff we encountered was kind, gracious, and seemed to really enjoy working with the residents. Megan at the front desk was a delight, and We had multiple meals in the dining room where Haley, Evan, and Brady all did a great job of not just taking care of us, but having fun with us in the process (we're a pretty jovial group). I'm helping a relative in a different state transition to a senior living community, and as well look, The Lodge has set a very high standard!
June 2025
In addition to being our wonderful activity director who sets up such special occasions for us (like the car show this weekend and the petting zoo in September) Stephanie went out of her way to assist me with getting my computer working again. She is always cheerful; she runs our exercise classes and plans such wonderful activities. Thank you, Stephanie!
May 2025
Both my mom and dad have stayed at the Lodge for a number of years. Evelyn has always been professional and personal building such a friendship with my mom that she was able to help her through the passing of my dad and her struggle with dementia. Evelyn even found an error from the Pharmacy where they had prescribed my mom medications that were not prescribed and if given would have made her very sick. Her solid focus and dedication is amazing.
May 2025
My father has been living at The Lodge at Mallards Landing for about a year and a half. This is the second community he has lived in and I have absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say. Honestly, every single person I have had the chance to interact with has been extremely positive, helpful, caring, and has gone above and beyond for my father. I especially want to thank Drew (who works on the nursing side) for his support this past month and a half when my dad had a medical setback. Drew and all of the caregiving team was so supportive and always available to talk through and help my dad (as well as myself) navigate this process. Not only do I think the caregiving is exceptional in my experience. There is also a real sense of home and community at the Lodge at Mallards Landing. It has made me feel so confident and at peace that my dad is in a really great place and genuinely cared for.

We have had our parents at the Lodge for over two years. Just moved into assisted living. Samantha, Nicole and Ayme are just wonderful! Their efforts were significant and greatly appreciated!
January 2025
My parents moved into the Lodge two and a half years ago from out of state. From the moment they arrived, the Lodge’s beautiful facilities, excellent amenities, and warm, friendly community made their transition seamless. Once they settled in, it truly felt like home. The management and staff are exceptional - professional, incredibly caring, and deeply involved in the residents’ daily lives. This personal touch creates an environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Our family faced a challenging year, including my father’s passing while my mother was at a rehabilitation facility recovering from a broken hip. During this time, we experienced necessary transitions, including moves to memory care, hospital stays, and ultimately hospice care in their apartment. The support and compassion from the Lodge’s management and staff were beyond compare. They not only cared for my father but also supported our entire family during his final days, allowing us to stay with him and feel at home. When my mother returned, the staff welcomed her with open arms and provided the same unwavering care, helping her navigate life without her husband. Their encouragement to keep her engaged in the community was both heartwarming and deeply appreciated. Over the years, I’ve come to know many of the wonderful people who work at the Lodge. Every visit is met with a warm hello, a smile, and a genuine willingness to assist in any way. While occasional issues arise, they are never due to a lack of care and are always addressed promptly and effectively. It’s impossible to capture everything in a short review, but I can confidently say that choosing the Lodge as a home for our parents was one of the best decisions we made.

After searching for an assisted living facility, I am so happy I found The Lodge at Mallard’s Landing. The public areas are warm, welcoming and encourage meeting new people and beginning an active life as part of the community. Learning about all their services and touring was a pleasure. Samantha’s introduction was just the beginning. If anything, she undersold the quality of services and lifestyle available here. After moving in, the staff “ every single one “ have been so friendly which made my settling in a warm experience. Maintenance attended to every request quickly so that moving in was no hassle at all. Dining welcomes friends to join meals and the food is varied and excellent. The housekeeping and laundry staff made attending to the daily chores so easy. First round of laundry was perfectly done and out and back within hours. First housekeeping visit was thorough and the place is now spotless. Care giving staff are friendly and purposeful in making sure that needs are understood and met to an initial level of service I didn’t expect. I highly recommend The Lodge to anyone considering an assisted living facility.

We are extremely grateful for the care & attention to detail on all levels of service offered at The Lodge @ Mallards Landing in Gig Harbor. Only 11 days in and we already feel like family!
September 2023
This is unreal. Some of the things that the new DOW is saying to staff members is highly unprofessional. Speaking about peoples children and firing people left and right when they cant make it to work in the event of an emergency. The company is overall fantastic, but some of the things that i have heard this specific individual say and the way that she has conducted herself are just highly highly unprofessional and out of good taste They are not acceptable and outright tyrannical.
August 2023
Incredibly high staff turn over, not enough parking, some staff not properly trained. Had problems with wrong meds given to my mom, mgmt. not very responsive, had to report to state oversite. Not very happy with this place.
May 2023
My father has been a resident at The Lodge for almost a year. He has become quite stable and is loved and supported by all of the care staff. We could not be happier with his experience. After COVID I was honesty scared of the reality of a care facility but all of the staff made the process so easy and comfortable for us all.
April 2023
Long overdue. Though able to provide a year of experience with both Memory Care and Independent Living. My husband and I are relieved and fortunate to have found an amazing home for his parents, especially knowing Covid created many obstacles for the elderly. Our first experience was with Marketing Director, Samantha, whom we found informative, honest and engaging. Once my in-laws moved in, we were pleased to find the entire team in both areas to be attentive, caring and dedicated. This was especially challenging as the labor shortage was rampant. I would like to call out a few that we are especially fond of: Donovan and Trace from the restaurant, Donna @ the front desk, Will from the nursing staff and especially Steve W from the executive team. While Steve is part of the executive team, he is a boots on the ground kind of guy. He lends a hand where needed, actively participates in events regardless of evening or weekend. Overall, Steve, is a kind and conscientious person. Since his arrival in November he has continuously fostered an open dialogue and welcomes a quick chat. I am continuously impressed at the level of communication within The Lodge and their proactive approach with families. The team is diligent in monitoring the well being of each resident, from their eating habits to movement around the grounds. Our appreciation extends to all Lodge team members. Thank you!

I visited three places before deciding to move to The Lodge at Mallard’s Landing. I was impressed by The Lodge the minute I drove up to it, and the inside is even more impressive. I haven’t regretted my decision to move here at all. The new administrative staff have been very open to hearing residents’ concerns and suggestions, and have already implemented positive changes. I was needlessly concerned before moving about the quality of the food and the choices. There is a special offered at every meal as well as a full menu of alternatives. Most of the food is well prepared and tasty. The staff is very open to accommodating special requests. There are a variety of activities offered, including daily movies, a book club, various card and board games, scenic drives, and shopping trips, as well as free transportation to medical appointments several days a week. I’m very glad I’ve moved here. I live in an independent apartment but also rent an emergency alert pendant due to a propensity to fall. I’ve had to use the alert four times and the medical staff arrived within minutes to help me get back on my feet. I feel safe and well cared for here.

As a former employee I can tell you the absolute only pro to working at The Lodge is the residents! Well also there was a handful of co-workers that were amazing as well. Management is horrendous! Clicked up gossipers. When I started there my boss in housekeeping was the most useless person ever. Nice, but she just wanted to hang out. Never helped, never addressed issues that were brought to her attention, hung out in her BFF's office most of the day, and was just overall inconsistent. In addition to that she would overwork us without offering a hand, even when we were down two housekeepers, and then alter our hours when we had no time to take a lunch and I was, in no uncertain terms, told if I had to work overtime I would not get paid for it. So at the end of the day if I wasn't done I had to clock out and continue working. When I brought this to the attention of upper management (at the time was David Johns, who was very supportive and helpful) she was finally demoted to being a housekeeper, but then we got a new ED and she soon ended up with the cushy position of "the utility person", so she was basically allowed to do nothing and get paid for it. Still hanging out in her BFF's office. In my time at The Lodge the housekeeping department was understaffed more than it was full staffed but we were never offered alternatives or help. The new housekeeping supervisor is great and made sure we had all the products and tools we needed. The former supervisor would not and most of us would buy our own products and tools. I miss the residents desperately but am very happy to not be working there anymore.
