My father has been there since November 2020. There is always information going out to keep families informed of everything happening at the Meadows. I appreciate all the precautions and measures they take to ensure the safety of residents and staff. COVID-19 restrictions aside, dad loves his room, the library, visiting with other residents and all of his meals. He doesn't have to worry or want for anything. He's in a very comfortable place and the staff really seem to care about him and love to make him smile.

My mother lived in The Gables for a year before she was transferred to the SCU at The Meadows. It was a very hard transition for her as her dementia really changed her emotions and trust for people. The staff working at the SCU were wonderful. My mom became very attached to a few of the girls. The communication was great between staff and us. Mom's room was always spotless and she was always very well taken care of. A few of the girls stayed by my side when mom passed, their compassion and love for the job was evident. My family will always be thankful for the care she received.

After spending a month in rehab, my mother's therapists recommended she reside in an assisted living facility. After discussions and visits, my mom chose The Meadows at East Mountain. She has now lived there for over four years, and we both are very pleased with the care she receives. The staff is very caring and insures that her physical and emotional needs are being met. This has been very important during the pandemic. My mom views The Meadows as her home, and the staff has become extended family. We appreceiate all they do for her.

Both my wife and I had parents who lived at the Gables and later the Meadows. In the case of both our mothers, they progressed from being on the assistance program at the Gables before it was determined they needed additional care. My mother spent a short time at the assisted living section of the Meadows but unfortunately her cognitive abilities declined quickly and there was not space in the special care unit when it was required so we had to find another location. I want to mention the management at the Meadows was very helpful with that as well. But over a period of 10 years, my mother-in-law went through the full progression from Gables to Meadows to Special Care Unit at the Meadows where she passed at 98 years old. We found the whole organization to be well run, cooperative, well-staffed and focused on providing the best care possible. At the end of her life, the staff was dedicated to making her comfortable and accommodating the family in all ways possible through that difficult time.

My father lived the last year of his life at the Meadows where the staff was extraordinary in his emotional and physical care. They called me often on updates and were so wonderful about my concerns. They showed great compassion to my father and I can verify that by my many weekly visits. I would highly recommend, and have recommended the Meadows to many of my friends looking for a safe, respectful, clean environment with a kind caring staff. My father died last April during Covid and the staff faced timed my dad with my family anytime we or he wanted. When he did pass during the pandemic someone was with him when he died as I requested that because we could not be with him. The staff at the Meadows boxed all of his things for me and took the time to photograph his room so if there was something I would have disposed of they did it for me. They helped me load his things as I could not enter the building during the beginning of the pandemic. I was so appreciative of the time and efforts they afforded me. It was a very stressful emotional time for me and my family and they were so comforting and helpful.

My mother in law received pleasant and compassionate care while at the Meadows for several years. We were always greeted warmly by all staff and they were always available to lend a hand or assist in any way. The various vignettes both inside and outside allowed us to visit and picnic as we always had.

My dear parents were so well cared for and loved while they lived at the Meadows. Mom started out in assisted living and Dad in the special care unit due to his dementia. Mom's need for care increased so she moved to the special care unit a few months after dad. The staff and nursing care were excellent. As my folks POA and closest relative in VT, I was kept informed, consulted, and treated like family every time I spent time there. I knew it was the right place when my dad stopped in the hallway during a walk together and turned to me to say, "You know, this is a really nice place." It meant he felt safe and comfortable there. Both my parents died in 2020. Mom was first after about a week in hospice. The Meadows helped with everything - making sure we connected with hospice, calling the funeral home after she passed, called the pharmacy to stop meds. They did all the things I had no idea had to be done when your parent dies. Best of all, they were so loving with her. The same with Dad. The nurses and staff knew how to manage his moods, which is a thing for folks with dementia. They brought out the best in him and he loved spending time in the common area. Dad went into hospice just a couple months into the first COVID lockdown. My brother and I were able to adorn ourselves in PPE and spend time in his room while he slipped away, surely to be with his wife of 60 years. The only criticism is the food is meh. But that was a trade off worth making. Very grateful to all of the folks at the Meadows who provided support for my folks and my family.

Last year this time around we went through a long process of searching and visiting assisted living communities in Southern Vermont. We had a tall order to make sure that my mother in law and aunt are in the same place and close to each other, more importantly well cared for. When we talked to Randi and the team we knew that Meadows was the place. We couldn't believe how caring and detail oriented the staff were in the first place. We were relived that they follow up with doctor appointments, drugs and everything that a resident can ask for. It has been almost a year now and hasn't been an ordinary year with Covid-19. Meadows made it to look so effortless to implement all the safety measures and went above and beyond to pass through this period. My mother in law loves the food, and cannot stop talking about the hair dresser and activities even during the covid. Her favorite activities involve chocolate. Bingo is not her thing; but, we know that other residents enjoy the biweekly bingo activities. The place is always clean and decorated for each season. The yard is very well manicured and there is a walking trail around the facility for the residents and also a rich library. I definitely recommend Meadows or Gables for loved ones and may be yourselves when the time comes.

My mother lived in a lovely apartment at the Gables for 7 years. She was content and well attended to by professional and competent staff. When it became necessary for her to move to the memory care unit, the transition went smoothly because of the dedicated and experienced people working at both The Gables and The Meadows. She has lived there throughout the Covid pandemic and has remained healthy, due to the comprehensive precautions and protocols followed by the staff. When she turned 100 years old in January, the Meadows employees arranged a great party with cake, balloons, and a family zoom call. She was thrilled to see and talk with us all and it was evident that she was well cared for and totally comfortable in her living situation. We are very grateful to the employees who have worked extra hard to make her feel at home and safe, especially since we have not been able to visit her. She has now received both her vaccines and we look forward to giving her big hugs as soon as we are also vaccinated.

Our mom joined The Meadows as a resident 6 months prior to the Covid outbreak. She was just settling in when facilities went on lockdown. It has been a challenging year for mom and family, always fearing a Covid positive. The Meadows did a great job in keeping the environment covid outbreak-free and keeping our mom safe and healthy. They have been accommodating in allowing me to safely bring special meals to her and allowing me to participate in her meal plans (thank you Keith!). She loves the community bird and Budgie has been her companion thru these tough times - i am so grateful for this little parakeet. She loves the activities when possible and enjoying the gardens. We miss seeing the staff and look forward to a return to visits. I know this has been hard on everyone. I am grateful that everyone has remained safe and that any question I have, always gets answered.

My Mom had five amazing years at the Meadows. We were so fortunate to find out about it and find a home for her there. She enjoyed the activities, and especially the great staff and liked to park herself out by the nursing station and talk to the bird, Petey. Lots of great memories visiting here there and saying hello to the other residents. Highly recommend it!

My mom has been a resident at the Meadows for nearly three years and she has been very happy there. Her favorite nurse, Heidi, has been especially sensitive to her needs and is always available to fill me in whenever I call. I'm surprised at the 1-star review. It certainly doesn't represent my experience with the Meadows. I believe I couldn't have placed my mom in a better facility. I want to thank the staff and administration for their heroic and successful efforts during this covid-19 epidemic. We're all looking forward to the day when the Meadows can open up and families can be together again! Jean Harrison

My Mom has been at the Meadows for the past 3 years, we have been very pleased with the way they care for her ( always asking if she needs anything & ready to assist her with her daily regimen) During these difficult times ( covid) we are proud to say my Mom has been treated with an abundance of care & consideration . Seasonal activities are a highlight for residents, family & her great granddaughter! Especially the Christmas Dinner Party ! The residents rooms as well as, public rooms ((library, halls , piano room & dining room ) are always well maintained & are look inviting. The staff at the Meadows have been exceptional during these trying times & we give them our well deserve thank you !
