Here is what Charter has done for our loved one: 1) Nutrition. She loves the food you prepare and serve her. She is eating much better now than she was when she was alone in her house. She cannot shop for, plan, prepare meals, and clean up after them. You guys take care of that. A regular kitchen would be a dangerous place for her. 2) Safety and security. She is much better off at Charter with the manned front desk. She would not be able to stop intruders at her house, wouldn't know what to do with salesmen (see telephone) and generally would not be safe or secure on her own there. 3) Contact with others. She interacts with others at meals, when her room is serviced, and when the nurses and doctors come. She sees and talks to folks much more than she was doing when she was alone at Underwood, this is helpful in so many ways. 4) Phone management. The front desk does a great job filtering incoming phone calls, screening solicitations and other pests.She was writing significant numbers of checks to folks based on phone pitches….we have stopped that. She doesn't miss writing those checks. Thank you!! 5) Daily/hourly medical supervision. In addition to falls (she has fallen a couple of times since arriving at Charter and had taken a number of falls before the big fall that landed her in hospital/rehab) she can not manage her medication by herself. Alone she would be at risk both of forgetting meds (she forgets everything and denies needing any meds) and also of overdosing. Traveling to dr. appointments is dramatically reduced (doc and nurses on staff) which is a huge help for us. 6) Assistance with hygiene. She requires help/reminding with bathing and sometimes with toileting and is looking cleaner, more presentable, more dignified. Thank you Charter for the peace of mind you have given us.

My mom is living here at this facility. The management has been very nice and helpful in her move and adjustment to a new place to live. The staff is over the top with assistance and just being kind to the elderly. There have been no complaints by my mom with the food and all the activities. This is a nice , clean place to call home.

The transition for your loved one is difficult enough by itself, however, Lea Yates made the transition so much easier for my loved one and myself. Through many calls and visits she supported me throughout the entire process. She is passionate about her work and the families, it's not just a job for her. I can't thank her enough. Also, the staff at Charter have been exceptional! Micheala in the Memory Care Unit goes above and beyond to make your loved one feel comfortable, heard, and seen. She communicates daily with me and lets me know how my loved one is doing. I would recommend Charter of Williamsburg. Thank you Lea!! and Micheala!

Charter of Williamsburg was the best place for my father. They are short staffed (like everywhere else) and no where is perfect, but the staff here are very friendly, caring, and encouraging. The floor nurses always took time to answer my questions and deal with my concerns. All staff, from the receptionist to the dining room workers, know the residents (and their families) by name. I can not say enough about Melanie, the activities director. She plans the nicest things for the residents from luaus to campfire cookouts and also local day trips for those that wish to participate. The enclosed court yard is beautiful and allows residents to go outside at their leisure. The small size and square design is great for residents to navigate without getting lost or "going down the wrong hall." My father was only at Charter for 2 1/2 months before he passed. However, in that short time, the staff and other residents became like family to us. Of course, I miss my father every day, but I did not realize I would miss the residents and staff so much, as going to Charter had become part of my daily routine. The staff at Charter Williamsburg will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am so glad I moved my Mom here!!! She was at another nearby community and Charter of Williamsburg is so much better! Its not too big and not too small, has a great "home" feel like with the community and the staff. It's also one of the more affordable Assisted Living communities in the Williamsburg area. I am very happy with our decision!

Knowing there are many things to keep loved ones busy throughout the day and great food puts my mind at ease as those are so very important when looking for senior living. I attended the 4th of July BBQ at Morningside of Williamsburg with a friend who is a resident there and it was great. The staff catered to all the residents in the courtyard, where they had the BBQ going and tents set up for an escape from the sun and music. All and all a great event!

I am a regular visitor of Morningside of Williamsburg, I have a cousin who currently resides their. Although her care needs are high, they take wonderful care of her. She is confined to a wheel chair, but you would not know that because of her care. She takes part in several activities that are provided, and is always very well dressed. Being a senior myself, it is comforting to find a place where a person can go and age with dignity and grace. I come to either lunch or dinner about three times a week and the food is top notch. Even though the Administration staff is quite busy, they always make time to come to the dining hall and chat with the residents. They know each individual so personally, that they make you feel like family.

I was able to get a good sense of Morningside when I attended their Valentines Day event. They chose a couple to be the King and Queen for the night. It demonstrated to me that the staff went to great lengths to ensure that the residents have entertainment and activities to fill their day. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere as well. The staff that I spoke with were very welcoming and I left with the impression that they were committed to provide the highest level of care. Im looking forward to returning in the future.

I have a great Aunt currently living at Morningside of Williamsburg and I recently went to visit her for the first time while I was in town. I could not believe how amazing the community was. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff and directed to my aunts apartment. She was currently in the dining room, eating lunch, and I was impressed to see the Chef, come out to make sure everyone was doing ok. I got a chance to speak to some of the staff and found out that a great amount of them for there for over 10 years. They were familiar with the residents and their individual needs. It was the highest quality care, I could have ever imagined. What put it over the top was the family friendly envir onment they create, They offered to serve me lunch with my great aunt and informed me about the private dining opportunities. All and all such a great experience!

Last year I toured the community with my brother in law looking for a place for his mother. Christopher had given us the tour and made us feel like this could be my brother in laws mom new home. Although we were looking into the far future, Christopher took the time to discuss our options. The staff is so welcoming! We even got a chance to meet a few of the management team members. As we were leaving Christopher said I hope you choose to join our family. This meant so much to us bc decisions like this are difficult ones and it made us feel like this was the place to send our relative.

Through my former job as activities director for a local senior center, I was familiar with many assisted living facilities in the area but not Morningside. Since Morningside is close to home, I checked it out when my husband needed more care than I could provide at home. I looked no further after being here. He has a lovely room facing the atrium. He is allowed to have a birdfeeder and flowers in the garden area a step away from his door. He felt at home from the start. The staff is excellent. He has made friends and feels comfortable here. Well, what can I say? Ive looked at a few places for my dad when he gets to the point that no one can take him anymore. And this place is tops on my list. First off, the staff I dealt with are great. The way some employees there speak with me and reach out to help me make decisions is unsurpassed--its almost like theyve known me for a long time and really care about whats going on with me and my family. The facilities are also impressive from everything I could see, the staff must be dedicated to maintenance and safety. You always hear horror stories of the nasty and unclean conditions that pose a risk to patients, but not here. No metaphorical (or literal) banana peels to slip on and break a hip. Im sure my dad could fit right in and might even feel like hes on vacation.

The grounds are well maintained with a beautiful courtyard for residents and their guests. The chef and kitchen staff prepare wonderful and well rounded meals and they offer a great dining service.
