I toured Williamsburg Commonwealth on two occasions as a potential senior living community for a family member. My family member's living circumstances changed and Commonwealth didn't end up as an option at this time. However, it will remain at the top.of b our list for the future. We were very pleased with the attentiveness and compassion shown by Jasen. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and we were impressed with the caring environment and family oriented atmosphere on our visits. Jason was extremely polite, respectful, and patient in his dealing woth multiple family members present for the tour. He is definitely an asset for Commonwealth.

This facility has improved since my parents moved in a year ago but the food is sadly lacking. It’s very difficult to watch your elderly parents that are already far below a healthy weight be subjected to having to eat food that you or I wouldn’t touch. The chicken & dumplings that was served yesterday looked like minced cat food. There’s no reason for this when they’re paying so much to live here. Please improve the food quality and maybe add a diabetic (heart healthy, etc) diet? Diabetics don’t need dessert or juices 2-3 times a day at the very least.

We could not have been happier when we walked into the doors of Commonwealth. Sara Woodard has been more than helpful from the second we contacted the facility. It was welcoming, clean and felt like home right away. All of the staff seemed to all be on the same page and not only a team but a family to their fellow employees and to the residents. The residents also seemed happy upbeat and very comfortable while relaxing and enjoying the space they lived in. I love the fact you can bring in pets to have even more of a homey feeling. Claudia went above and beyond to make our tour special also Kassie was absolutely helpful and made us feel like she cared and wanted us to feel comfortable and welcomed. Thank you very much for having us and we can not wait to be part of your family.

The facility has an outbreak of norovirus but no signage in the lobby or bland diet foods available or offered for residents. Like every other assisted living facility they are short staffed but there seems to be no communication or follow up with care. For the amount of money residents pay to live here, they need to do better

Cece Contreras works in the Sweet Memories unit in Williamsburg. She has the oversite of all patients there but is always able to give each one her personal attention and care. I am appreciative of Cece's outstanding treatment of Lari Wallace. When she entered CSL she was in a terrible mental state as well as being physically challenged. Cece was always available to smooth the way for Lari to get back to her best self whether it meant scheduling physical therapy, confering with medical staff regarding medications or just sitting down with Lari in her room for a friendly conversation. She is consistantly going the extra mile to ensure that I am aware of Lari's treatment challenges. You have a true gem in Cece Contreras.

As usual, staff is friendly, professional and welcoming. The facility is always clean and smells fresh. I chose Commonwealth for my mother-in-law several years ago and she was treated so well in assisted living and then memory care. Now I visit in a professional manner. I feel Commonwealth is an excellent choice for anyone needing care for a loved one.

In the 16 months that I have lived at CSL Williamsburg, I have made many new friends, with whom I share activities such as games, musical performances, dinner, social times, and gardening. I feel safe and cared for in the independent living component, and my apartment really feels like home. I find staff to be responsive to my needs, showing kindness and caring.

Convenient location; beautiful facility; kind, compassionate staff; quiet; secure. I spent time with my family member here and visited a week plus. The staff were consistently efficient, professional, kind and supportive. The room was clean and a nice window view to see the trees, sky and birds. The building and grounds are in good repair and it felt like a home. Thank you Commonwealth Senior Living for the great care to my family.

My mom was a resident at this facility in memory care for nearly three years. Unfortunately, she passed in November of 2023. There are a few team members who exceeded my expectations with Cece being one of them. She is amazingly caring and compassionate. Unfortunately, communication is a real issue for this facility. At one time my mom was diagnosed with covid and I found out 6 days later. At times, I was not updated on her ISP. Now, my mom passed November 11th. I came to the facility the day after she passed to clear her room. I left behind only the furniture that was provided for her when she moved in and items that did not belong to her. I communicated this to the executive director. Now, 3 months after my mom's passing I receive a collection notice. So first, I should be owed a credit, second, nobody called me and last no statement was sent. You can imagine how upsetting this is after losing someone you love. So I called the facility not once but twice to discuss this but nobody will return my calls. It's a real shame. As a healthcare professional, I understand the regulations very well and am so disappointed. It's a shame this is how I have to communicate my frustration rather than talking it out with a team member.

Usually I would give them high marks. Today though, my Mom's Cox phone is still not working. I suspect the switch needs to be turned back on in the building. The power went off about two weeks ago when X-rays were done in my mom's room and the phone has not worked since that incident. If we need contact Cox ourselves, someone should call me.

My godmother has been here for two years and I’ve gotten to know the Memory Care staff well because I’m there several times a week. Like most such facilities, there is a shortage of staff at times. But several people, like Shawnie Brown, have stood strong and provide continuous quality care over the long haul. My dream team is CeCe (med tech), Clarissa and Tiana. They are wonder women who know their stuff! Watching them work like witnessing an orchestra.. They are compassionate, caring and professional. Mad props also to Barbara and Marie on the concierge team, who always greet me warmly and inquire about my well being. I appreciate the management team, especially Alethea, Michelle and Carrie, for responding to my calls and inquiries promptly. I’m pleased with the care and attention my godmother has received.

When I arrived here I immediately thought "What have I done!" Going to dinner was going to be a problem but I was immediately met by Betty who said "Come sit with us. We are the third floor ladies." I have been sitting with them ever since and have made new and wonderful friends.

I have been with the most friendly and caring residents and staff these past three years at CSL Williamsburg. We look out for each other and genuinely help and care for the people living here. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to the wonderful group of people at Commonwealth Senior Living in Williamsburg, VA. Their kindness, empathy, compassion, and attention to detail made my grandfather's last days happy and comfortable. We moved my grandparents in here this past winter from another local senior living home. Commonwealth takes the cake! This facility is nice and bright, very clean, and just an upbeat place- making my grandparents happier. Their apartment is a 2 bedroom- its very large and roomy, and bright. They seem to have a 'neighborhood committee' of sorts, which has made making friends for them much easier. Now they actually get out of the apartment and go to events. We have been very happy with this facility.
